The Boone County Community Foundation was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment projects in Boone County. The Madrid Community Endowment Fund is committed to improving the quality of life throughout Madrid by investing in area nonprofits through our grant programs and by providing individuals, families and area businesses who love our community with a way to give back.

Madrid Community Endowment Fund Grants

Grants are available to 501(c)3 organizations and government entities serving the Madrid community. Grant selections are made in an effort to create a better quality of life for people in Madrid. The local governing committee reviews the applications from charitable organizations serving their community. 

Clean Water Iowa

Iowans working together to improve & protect water quality

Iowans have a long history of working together to improve and protect water quality, and conservation work is accelerating and expanding at a record pace across the state. Today, more than 450 public & private partners are working alongside farmers, landowners, municipalities and other stakeholders throughout Iowa to improve soil health and water quality on their land as well as downstream.

IDALS Expanded Cattle and Conservation Working Lands Program 

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) is expanding its popular Cattle and Conservation Working Lands program to support cattle producers in the Greater Des Moines watershed. The program provides cost-share to help farmers and landowners convert underperforming or highly erodible acres of row crops into pasture or hay ground. This provides land and forage to support the growth of the U.S. beef herd while reducing soil erosion, filtering nitrates and improving water quality. 

The monetary value of each scholarship award varies depending upon the amount available in each individual scholarship fund. Scholarship award amounts range from $1,000 - $5,000 for a single year.

Austen Marie Path to Music Memorial Scholarship

The Austen Marie Path to Music Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Austen Marie Lynch to help support fellow musicians pursue a career in music, extending to others the opportunity to fulfill her own dream of becoming a career artist. Austen was a hardworking, tenacious, and talented musician. Her dream was to attend college and become a career musician. She was a singer, a songwriter, a guitarist, a poet, an artist, and a lover of ALL music. At 17 years old, Austen passed from a rare and terminal cancer in the comfort of her own bed surrounded by her loved ones, her guitars, and her record collection. 

This scholarship will be awarded to fellow musicians to attend school and fulfill their dream of becoming a career artist. There will be no GPA or academic requirement, but the applicant must show their dedication to music and ability to overcome life's challenges. Eligible applicants will be graduating seniors from a Nevada high school who plan to attend an institute of higher education to pursue a major or minor in music. This is a one-time award of up to $5,000 and has the potential to be renewed for additional years with reapplication.

Caesars Nevada Team Member Scholarship

This year, Caesars Entertainment is partnering with Phil and Jennifer Satre to match the scholarship funding.

Paid work, internships, and volunteerism will be a weighted selection tool used by the committee. This is a one-time award; awards may be single- or multi-year.

APA Foundation

The mission of the APA Foundation is to advance the art and science of planning through philanthropic activities that provide access to educational opportunities, enrich the public dialogue about planning, and advance social equity in the profession and our communities.

APA Scholarships

The APA Foundation scholarships aim to make the planning profession more accessible to individuals with limited financial means and to attract the best, brightest, and most talented individuals to the field of planning.

These scholarships are intended for students who demonstrate academic merit, a commitment to the field of planning, and financial need. The expanded eligibility includes students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate planning‑related programs at accredited U.S. institutions, reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to broadening access to the profession and strengthening its impact on communities nationwide.

APA Foundation Environmental Scholarship

This scholarship supports students pursuing planning degrees with a focus on environmental or conservation planning. It reflects a commitment to advancing wildlife and environmental conservation through the planning profession and to supporting future planners dedicated to protecting natural resources and sustainable environments. Awards are given to students currently enrolled in degree programs in planning.

The monetary value of each scholarship award varies depending upon the amount available in each individual scholarship fund. Scholarship award amounts range from $1,000 - $5,000 for a single year.

GIAR Grandmother’s First-Generation Scholarship

This scholarship is established in the memory and honor of Gramie Georgina, Grandma Isabella, Grandmother Ann, and Grannie Ruth, all first-generation women who were never able to attend college. This scholarship is only accepting renewal applications for 2026.

Helps First-Generation Young Women living in Nevada or Hawaii.

The scholarship funds the undergraduate or graduate college education of first-generation young women of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American or South American ancestry, under the age of 25. The term first-generation is defined here as a young woman who has immigrated to the United States of America and become a naturalized citizen or the daughter of an immigrant of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American and South American Ancestry. The student must be a resident of Nevada or Hawaii.

This scholarship is a one-time award of up to $5,000 based on need (which will be verified through your attached FAFSA and Financial Aid documents). One scholarship may be awarded to cover the full cost of attendance at UNR (up to $25,000), also based on need. All awards have the potential to be renewed with reapplication.

Beverly Joyce White Memorial Scholarship for Hospice Nursing Staff

The scholarship is awarded to hospice nursing staff who are pursuing a certification in hospice palliative care or other related education offerings.
