The Clive Community Foundation (CCF) is a conduit for residents, businesses and other stakeholders to donate funds for the betterment of our community.

Along with providing the depth of expertise and guidance for establishing the CCF, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines provides cost-efficient access to world-class investment managers and alternative investment strategies only available to large institutional investors.

As a Foundation, we raise funds for distribution to local nonprofit organizations and special projects that enhance opportunities and community appeal for current and future residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Grant Guidelines

The Clive Community Foundation was established in 2007 by a group of citizens to improve the quality of life for Clive residents and businesses by promoting charitable giving and connecting donors with causes they value and desire to support.

Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to qualifying organizations. 

The Bayer Fund: Food & Nutrition Grant supports high-quality programs that combat malnutrition and improve access to nutritious foods, particularly for underserved communities and families with young children. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government units. The fund prioritizes long-term behavioral change towards healthy eating and nutrition, with grants typically not exceeding 25% of an organization's operating budget. International requests start at $25,000, fostering sustainable food security and education initiatives.

The Vermeer Charitable Foundation Grant supports non-profit organizations, primarily in the Pella area, focusing on educational, civic, and faith-based initiatives. The foundation emphasizes measurable outcomes and community impact, leveraging the resources and expertise of Vermeer Corporation. With a commitment to stewardship and excellence, VCF prioritizes special projects over operational budgets, ensuring that proposals reflect the needs of the community and align with the foundation's mission of improving quality of life.

Clean Water Iowa

Iowans working together to improve & protect water quality

Iowans have a long history of working together to improve and protect water quality, and conservation work is accelerating and expanding at a record pace across the state. Today, more than 450 public & private partners are working alongside farmers, landowners, municipalities and other stakeholders throughout Iowa to improve soil health and water quality on their land as well as downstream.

IDALS Expanded Cattle and Conservation Working Lands Program 

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) is expanding its popular Cattle and Conservation Working Lands program to support cattle producers in the Greater Des Moines watershed. The program provides cost-share to help farmers and landowners convert underperforming or highly erodible acres of row crops into pasture or hay ground. This provides land and forage to support the growth of the U.S. beef herd while reducing soil erosion, filtering nitrates and improving water quality. 

The Dallas County Foundation Grant supports community projects in Dallas County, addressing diverse needs such as health, human services, arts and culture, historic preservation, and environmental initiatives. Governed by a dedicated volunteer board, the foundation meets monthly to ensure effective stewardship of donor funds. The Brinker International Charitable Giving Program focuses on giving back to communities through support for kids, hunger, and education. Organizations eligible for funding must be 501c(3) non-profits and submit requests at least six weeks prior to events. The program does not support individuals, political or religious organizations, or explicit discrimination policies. Funding is provided through monetary donations or in-kind contributions like dining certificates.

The Immanuel Vision Foundation Grants support 501(c)(3) nonprofits that align with their mission of meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of seniors, enhancing community health, and supporting the ministry of the Church. Since 2015, the Foundation has prioritized organizations that demonstrate strong leadership and financial stability, while addressing strategic health concerns in Nebraska and select Iowa counties. Special consideration is given to initiatives focused on seniors and community health, ensuring a culture of wellness and dignity.

The Francis Grants, established by Catholic Extension, offer funding for significant events in poor mission dioceses, such as the ordination of new Bishops, anniversaries, or papal visits. These grants also support educational endeavors for Bishops. Named in honor of Francis Clement Kelly, Francis Cardinal George OMI, and Pope Francis, the program aims to strengthen the Catholic faith across the U.S. Since 1905, Catholic Extension has invested over $500 million to assist communities in need.

The Catholic School Leadership Development Grant Program aims to cultivate and retain promising leaders within the Catholic school system. In partnership with Loyola Marymount University, this initiative offers a graduate-level online Certificate in Catholic School Administration, covering 80% of tuition costs and providing funding for essential travel. The one-year program focuses on mission effectiveness, operational management, and instructional leadership, requiring participants to serve two years in their diocese post-completion, thereby enhancing local educational leadership.

Catholic Extension's Enhancing Pastoral and Social Ministry Grants aim to empower the church to broaden its outreach and foster societal transformation through targeted pastoral and social initiatives. This program supports specific elements of the church's ministerial efforts, including funding for catechetical resources, marriage and family ministries, and social outreach for vulnerable populations. By investing in these areas, Catholic Extension seeks to enhance the church's role in communities, especially following disasters.

The Building Capacity Grants by Catholic Extension aim to enhance the financial and operational capabilities of dioceses. This initiative focuses on funding projects that promote efficiency, financial stability, and effective fiscal management, ultimately fostering a self-sustaining community. Eligible programs include fundraising development initiatives and operational assessments, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently while supporting professional development for church leadership. This grant empowers dioceses to strengthen their foundations for future growth.

The CFGDM: Strategic Alignment Grants support nonprofit organizations in developing collaborative strategies to address community issues. With funding up to $25,000, these grants encourage partnerships that enhance systemic support, improve operational alignment, and foster shared resources. Organizations must hold a 501(c)(3) status to be eligible. This grant program is ideal for projects focused on strategic alignment rather than capacity building, ensuring impactful collaboration for social good.

The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines offers Capacity Building Grants to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations. These grants support initiatives like strategic planning, governance improvements, and financial stability efforts, ensuring nonprofits can thrive and fulfill their missions. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations and projects should benefit the Greater Des Moines community. The CFGDM Leadership Grants aim to enhance quality of life in Greater Des Moines by supporting projects that align with community needs and promote equity. These grants focus on critical areas such as housing, health, economic development, and community engagement. By fostering collaborative efforts and addressing systemic barriers, the program seeks to create lasting positive change and empower local organizations to make a significant impact on community issues.

The Engaging Young Catholics Grants aim to support ministries that provide faith formation to children, teens, young adults, and families. By focusing on the pastoral needs of young Catholics, the program enhances community vibrancy and fosters new leadership within the church. Catholic Extension prioritizes operational support and seed funding for initiatives that develop youth and young adult ministries, ensuring that dioceses can effectively reach and engage younger generations in their faith.

The Building Leaders Grants by Catholic Extension aim to enhance the recruitment, education, and ongoing formation of church leaders. This initiative provides critical funding for the professional development of both ordained and lay leaders in mission dioceses. By fostering partnerships with various organizations, it addresses the need for trained ministers and supports various funding areas, including seminarian sponsorship and diaconate formation, ensuring a robust future for church leadership.

The PLTW Launch - Program Expansion grant, funded by the John Deere Foundation, aims to enhance access to STEM education for underserved communities. This initiative supports schools in expanding their PLTW programs and includes training for teachers and resources for students. Priority is given to schools near John Deere facilities that demonstrate need and a commitment to student participation in STEM activities. The project aligns with the foundation's goal to impact one million youth by 2030.

With a commitment to support 1 million youth by 2030, this initiative provides grants to schools seeking to expand their existing PLTW programs. The PLTW Computer Science program, funded by the John Deere Foundation, aims to enhance STEM opportunities for underserved students in John Deere communities. This initiative supports schools initiating or expanding PLTW Computer Science courses starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. With a commitment to inclusive education, the foundation seeks to empower students by providing essential resources and opportunities to develop critical skills that will serve them in future careers.

The Building Foundation Grants by Catholic Extension aim to support essential pastoral and administrative functions in under-resourced communities. These grants provide salary subsidies and operational funding to ordained, religious, and lay ministers, ensuring access to Catholic services. Prioritizing areas with significant financial need, this initiative seeks to sustain the church's presence where it is most critical, enabling continued ministry and outreach for those who may otherwise be underserved.

Catholic Extension provides essential funding to support the construction, expansion, or renovation of churches and community facilities. This initiative aims to meet the facility needs of under-resourced Catholic dioceses across the U.S. By focusing on active projects, Catholic Extension ensures that communities can enhance their worship spaces and support local ministries, ultimately fostering a stronger church community. Funding is available for both minor and major requests, with an emphasis on urgent needs and robust funding strategies.

The HealthConnect Innovation Grants, provided by the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, aim to address social determinants of health and create opportunities for vulnerable children and youth in central Iowa. By targeting disparities in health outcomes influenced by economic and environmental factors, these grants support initiatives that foster community well-being. Eligible organizations include nonprofit entities exempt from federal tax. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed quarterly, encouraging innovative solutions to improve health equity.

The Prairie Meadows Youth Sports and Recreational Grant Program aims to support non-profit organizations in Iowa that promote youth engagement in sports and recreational activities. Grants range from $1,000 to $50,000 for projects such as improving equipment, uniforms, and facilities for youth aged 19 and younger. Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status or public entities. Projects should focus on underserved youth and demonstrate measurable impact.

Bravo Greater Des Moines offers the Capital Project Grant to support eligible arts, culture, and heritage organizations with capital projects in the Greater Des Moines area. This grant facilitates funding for projects requiring significant external funds and promotes community engagement in arts and culture. Applications are accepted year-round, with decisions made within 120 days.

Nestlé Purina Animal Welfare Grants focus on enhancing the well-being of pets and their owners through monetary donations to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt pet welfare organizations in the U.S. These grants support capacity building, capital improvements, and spay/neuter funding. The program aims to strengthen relationships between pets and people, particularly in communities near Nestlé Purina facilities, ensuring that both pets and their owners thrive together.
