U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations working on food security, sustainable agriculture, or related environmental and social programs may be eligible for support, including general operating funds. Day of Dignity creates an opportunity for caring individuals from diverse communities to provide services to their neighbors in need. The Day of Dignity mission is to promote volunteerism, build relationships, and encourage local organizations to have a transformative impact on their unique community. Bookbags, school kits, jackets, and hygiene kits are some of the in-kind items provided by IRUSA to be distributed during Day of Dignity events. A grant is also given to help support the costs of food, entertainment, venue, etc. Free medical care, screenings, and even barber services can be offered out by the host organization at the event. The host organization is responsible for accommodating their community’s needs and reaching out to different services and vendors. The day is an effort to provide basic living essentials, medical care, and connect those in need to support services available to them in the long term.

The Feed the Hungry COVID-19 Fund, launched by American Humane, addresses the urgent needs of animal shelters struggling during the pandemic. With many animals abandoned and facilities facing shortages, this fund aims to provide essential resources for food and supplies. American Humane, a leader in animal welfare for over a century, seeks to support shelters and rescue organizations fighting to maintain operations amid the crisis, ensuring the safety and care of vulnerable animals across the nation.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits and state or local government entities can seek funding for food security, agriculture, education, and community enhancement initiatives, including general operating support or specific projects. Greenpoint Foundation prioritizes programs advancing food security and related community efforts and requires impact reports within 6–12 months, depending on the grant type.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits running food security or basic-needs programs can seek support that may fit their work, including efforts in Jewish communities, from the Lillian and Larry Goodman Foundation. Focused on strengthening Jewish life, children’s welfare, and community wellbeing, it also backs initiatives addressing hunger and related social welfare needs in the U.S. and Israel.

Nonprofit organizations in the U.S. working on youth education, workforce development, or food security and housing stability initiatives can apply for community grants that strengthen basic human needs and resilience. With a mission to create long-term community impact, OneAmerica Financial supports programs, especially in Indianapolis and Maine, that improve financial stability and access to essential resources.

Nonprofit organizations in the U.S. working on nutrition, food access, homelessness, education, environment, or spirituality can apply for the Ravi and Naina Patel Foundation’s RNP Foundation Grant. Support may benefit food security efforts through nourishment-focused programs that improve community health and well-being, especially for underserved populations seeking basic needs and long-term stability.

For-profit and nonprofit organizations addressing healthcare access, food security, or economic vitality in the U.S. and Puerto Rico can seek funding to scale evidence-based health solutions. American Heart Association provides up to US $500,000 to social impact initiatives that strengthen health by improving nutrition, affordability, and access to sustainable, healthy food in under-resourced communities.

U.S. 501(c)(3) public charities focused on food security, refugee services, licensed free healthcare clinics, or community development can access funding through Islamic Relief Usa to expand summer meal access for children. Eligible nonprofits can start or grow USDA-approved Summer Food Service Program (SUN) sites, with most funds going to direct services and the rest to operations.

U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charities running food security, refugee services, free healthcare clinics, or community development programs can apply for Islamic Relief USA’s Turkey Distribution 2026 support. Partners receive turkeys for Thanksgiving distributions to people in need, with at least 85% of funds going to direct services and up to 15% for administration.

Urban Agriculture Resilience Program

In 2020, the United States Botanic Garden (USBG) and the American Public Gardens Association (the Association) initiated the Urban Agriculture Resilience Program. Since its inception, the program has supported 131 urban agriculture projects nationwide, promoting public garden participation in collaborations that combine food growing and education while addressing food security challenges facing communities.

Over the program’s six years, we have awarded $2.7 million to 136 projects in 34 states and D.C. These programs have grown and shared over 750,000 pounds of produce, distributed more than 292,000 seedlings, and provided more than 53,000 hours of urban agriculture training to students, interns, and trainees.

2027 Urban Agriculture Resilience Program

The United States Botanic Garden (USBG) and the American Public Gardens Association (APGA) are partnering to support public gardens and their partners to facilitate collaborative urban agriculture, community gardening, and other food-growing projects. Applications for a new cycle will open this fall!

The 2027 Urban Agriculture Resilience Program will comprise a small group of projects seeking to sustain and institutionalize their work. Participants will receive funding to help build their programs.

• Build urban agriculture capacity in public gardens community
• Provide funding ($5,000 to $20,000 per participant/project)
• Share models and lessons learned with the broader community of public gardens

Focused on food security, Mosaic Company Foundation invites U.S. and Canadian 501(c)(3) and equivalent charities to seek support for hunger relief, food system development, and agricultural education. Organizations near Mosaic’s North American operations may also receive funding for related water conservation and local community initiatives that strengthen long-term quality of life.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits addressing hunger and basic needs can seek Ameriprise Financial Community Grants to support food banks, pantries, meal programs, and related services. Grants from Ameriprise Financial help food security organizations expand access to meals, shelter, and adult self-sufficiency programs, with priority for communities near key Ameriprise employee centers and sites of strong volunteer engagement.

Nonprofits, charities, and social enterprises working on regenerative agriculture and food systems in the U.S. and Canada can receive up to US $200,000 to advance sustainable farming and food security projects. With a mission to support young leaders, One Young World and BMO fund initiatives improving soil health, biodiversity, animal welfare, water stewardship, and Indigenous and cultural agricultural practices.

One of the largest employee-managed funds of its kind in the world, the Employees Community Fund (ECF) of The Boeing Company has empowered employees to make a greater impact by pooling their tax-deductible donations for more than 60 years. Employee-led grantmaking committees at 20 Boeing sites provide combined employee donations to nonprofits in their communities through ECF grants.

Charitable or educational organizations can apply for grants from the Employees Community Fund (ECF) of The Boeing Company.

Puget Sound Chapter

The Employees Community Fund (ECF) of Boeing Puget Sound is a pooled fund consisting of recurring payroll contributions from generous Boeing employees. It funds local nonprofits that help thousands of families and individuals in the Puget Sound region where Boeing employees live and work.

ECF focus areas

ECF makes grants to 501(c)(3) Health & Human Service nonprofits such as food banks, job-training programs, shelters, transitional housing, mental health services, and low-income medical clinics. ECF seeks the direct client benefit of each grant to ensure that our employees’ contributions directly help those in need.

ECF funding criteria

ECF has two distinct grant categories – Supporting Grants and Capital Campaign Grants.

ECF of Boeing Company: Puget Sound Chapter Supporting Grants

Consideration is given to nonprofits/agencies that are performing well and are seeking to upgrade, replace or modify elements of their infrastructure.

• Supporting grants cannot exceed $50,000. The requested amount cannot be more than 10% of an agency’s gross annual revenue.
• Supporting grants will be considered only for agencies benefiting residents in the Puget Sound Region.
• Supporting grants help agencies continue to effectively provide services through enhanced direct client benefit by aiding them in procuring and/or paying for items such as:
  • Equipment (ex. office, kitchen, industrial, furniture, etc.)
  • Vehicles used to support clients and/or transport food and/or goods (cost of vehicle and accommodations, tax, and licensing only; operating expenses, such as insurance, fuel, etc. is not allowed)
  • Phone systems
  • Cell phones for direct client use
  • Remodels and/or renovations (must hold at least a 10-year lease or own the building)
  • Purchase or construction of new buildings
  • Computers or tablets for direct client benefit and/or use
  • Software for direct client benefit and/or use (ex. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device)
  • Information Technology expenses, without which procured tools would not work
  • External improvements for client safety (i.e. security system, exterior lighting, improved ADA accessibility, new or refinished pavement or concrete)
• Supporting grants which are accepted must be spent as approved within nine (9) months.

The Clif Family Foundation Open Call invites 501(c)(3) organizations to apply for grants supporting general operating costs or specific projects. With a focus on regenerative farming, food worker health, climate justice, and food access, the foundation aims to empower grassroots initiatives. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, with applications reviewed twice a year. Deadlines are March 1 and August 1, and announcements occur about four months post-deadline.

Nonprofit and community-based organizations worldwide seeking up to US $10,000 for locally led community development projects can apply; funding supports areas like smallholder productivity, food security, shelter, health care, and civic participation. Focused on long-term, measurable impact, Nextworldnow Community Investments invites scalable, innovative partnerships that may benefit groups working to improve food security and overall well-being.

U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits, fiscally sponsored groups, and public agencies can seek up to US $10,000 for family-focused programs that remove barriers to housing, food access, digital connectivity, and financial empowerment. Jack and Jill of America Foundation’s Our Village Grants may support food security, digital learning, academic support, caregiver resources, and health and wellness initiatives.

U.S.-based grassroots 501(c)(3) organizations, fiscally sponsored groups, and tribal governments advancing just food and agricultural systems can seek $20,000 - $50,000 for strategic communications projects. Focused on narrative change, Food and Farm Communications Fund supports efforts that uplift frontline food security stories, build power, and strengthen long-term communications infrastructure.

Nonprofits, for-profits, and public entities in the U.S. and eligible Canadian organizations can seek funding to research and document the impacts of factory farming and higher-welfare, pasture-based systems. Focused on transforming the food system, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals offers up to US $75,000 for studies, reports, and media that support a U.S. shift away from factory farming.

Nonprofits and community leaders addressing food security, basic human needs, housing, climate resilience, or equity in the U.S. can seek support for innovative, community-driven solutions. PMI WW Brands’ Stanley 1913 Creators Fund offers up to US $50,000 for emerging creators, builders, and inventors whose work advances sustainability, justice, and stronger local food systems.

The Elizabeth M. Pfriem Foundation, established in 2015 in Rye Brook, New York, is committed to enhancing the human condition through grants to 501(c)(3) public charities. Focusing primarily on the greater Bridgeport, Connecticut area, it supports initiatives in education, healthcare, food security, and housing. The foundation prioritizes organizations demonstrating fiscal responsibility and innovative programs with significant impact potential, ensuring sustainable support for vulnerable populations, especially children and families in need.

Nonprofit organizations in the U.S. serving underprivileged youth through food access, hunger relief, and related support can apply for Dale Jr Foundation donations. Funding may support child-focused food security programs alongside education, wellness, and empowerment initiatives. Organizations addressing children’s health, hunger, and overall development may be especially competitive.
