The Brutten Family Foundation funds groups and organizations that help expand access to the outdoors, high-quality education, and vital mental health services. We believe that our wellbeing exists at the intersection of these core pillars.

The Brutten Family Foundation, founded by Patricia and Marc Brutten in 1996, is a private U.S. foundation with a nearly 25-year record of philanthropy focused on benefiting San Diego County and global charities. 

Through our family business, Brutten Global, we have spent more than 40 years in the commercial real estate industry, working in the United States and Europe. Brutten Global emerged and flourished in San Diego, and we began the foundation to give back to local organizations and schools. Our work has expanded to nurture both local and global efforts. Now, our children are also involved in giving back to our communities, and as a family, we share a sense of responsibility to positively change people’s outcomes and give individuals the tools they need to create their own impact.

Environment

Protecting our environment is the most critical issue we face as a human race, and investing in a sustainable planet is paramount to our future. We focus on efforts to revive ecosystems and expand access to the outdoors for all, especially underserved communities and those who face systemic barriers to spending time in nature.

Education

Through access to education and resources, underserved students have the chance to overcome obstacles and realize their goals. We support programs and institutions that equip and offer young people the resources, support, and financial aid necessary to succeed in and outside of classrooms.

Menatl Health

Millions of people worldwide suffer from mental health conditions, but many go untreated, partially due to stigmas, a lack of access to treatment, or a lack of awareness of solutions. We support projects relating to mental health resources and care to help individuals access what they need and build stronger, safer societies.

First Responder Community Engagement Grant

We help forge lasting relationships that build trust and inspire futures.

The goal of these powerful programs is to help foster healthy relationships between first responders and children in the communities they serve, while also inspiring a new generation who may have an interest in a first responder career.

Day-End Dough-Nation® Program

 At Panera, we embrace the opportunity to spread generosity to our communities. Generosity is at the forefront of everything we do. We care for our communities by donating to charities dedicated to feeding our neighbors in need. That’s why our bakery-cafes donate their unsold bread, bagels, and baked goods to local non-profits at the end of the night through our Day-End Dough-Nation program.

The George and Sarah Buchanan Foundation was born from the shared vision of its founders, George and Sarah Buchanan, who believed in giving back to the community as a testament to their life’s blessings. Focusing on special needs, military, at-risk youth, education, and faith-based initiatives, the foundation aims to create a ripple effect of positive change across communities. The George and Sarah Buchanan Foundation is dedicated to fulfilling our mission of providing help and support to those in need across all five of our focus areas. By providing grants and partnering with 501 c3 charitable organizations, we hope to improve the lives of all recipients.

Our Grants

The Foundation makes Grants to a wide variety of charitable organizations. Programs vary in grant size and funding priorities. Supporting nonprofit and 501c charitable organizations, we award grants to enhance impactful programs and initiatives, foster innovation, and bolster the capabilities of existing systems and organizations. Nonprofits are invited to apply for grants for these programs. The foundation concentrates its giving on several key areas:

• Military

Partnering with charities that provide essential support to military personnel, veterans, and their families during and after service. Charities supporting the Military community focus on aiding active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. These organizations offer a range of support services to address the unique challenges faced by military personnel, including transition programs for those re-entering civilian life, mental health support, and assistance for wounded soldiers. They also provide housing assistance for veterans and gold-star families. Additionally, they provide financial aid, scholarships for education, and family support initiatives to ensure the well-being of military families, honoring their sacrifice and service to the country.

• Special Needs

Charitable organizations within the Special Needs sector are dedicated to serving individuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. These nonprofits work tirelessly to provide a spectrum of services that enhance the quality of life, promote independence, and ensure equal opportunities in all aspects of life. From early intervention programs, therapeutic services, and inclusive education to vocational training and supportive housing, these charities aim to meet the comprehensive needs of those with special needs, advocating for their rights and well-being in society.

• At-Risk Youth

Organizations working with At-Risk Youth are committed to guiding young people who face various challenges, such as poverty, homelessness, family instability, and involvement in the juvenile justice system. These charities offer programs that include mentorship, education and literacy support, after-school and enrichment activities, and career readiness training. Their goal is to provide at-risk youth with the tools and resources they need to overcome obstacles, realize their potential, and build a positive future.

• Education

Charitable organizations in the Education sector strive to ensure equitable access to quality education for children and adults alike. These nonprofits work in diverse settings, from urban to rural communities, providing programs such as early childhood education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) initiatives, scholarship funds, and teacher training. They aim to close the education gap, foster lifelong learning, and prepare individuals for success in an increasingly complex world through vocational training opportunities.

• Faith-Based Organizations

Faith-based charitable organizations operate on the foundation of Christian values and beliefs, serving communities through a wide array of social, educational, and humanitarian efforts. These charities provide services such as food banks, homeless shelters, disaster relief, and international development projects. Beyond physical aid, they also offer spiritual support and community building activities, aiming to uplift individuals and families.

Global Fund for Children raises all the funds that we use to invest in community-based organizations around the world. We know that organizations spend precious time preparing proposals for prospective funders. We appreciate there are many worthy causes and changemakers that we will not be able to support. As such, we do not ask organizations to submit proposals. We visit organizations in person and build relationships, getting to know possible new partners when we have raised funds. As a first step, we maintain a database of organizations we can get to know if we have just the right opportunity.

Our work advances the rights of children and youth across four focus areas and five regions. We have a deep commitment to courageous organizations that support young people facing poverty, injustice, and discrimination.

We support grassroots organizations that are not afraid to tackle the root causes of poverty with innovative, local solutions. Most offer holistic care to comprehensively address the needs of each child. Many become regional and national leaders in children’s rights—raising awareness, influencing policy, and ultimately impacting thousands of children and youth beyond their doors.

Education

Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream. We work closely with our partners to make sure children across the world can learn, play, and go to school. We are committed to helping every child reach their potential through equal access to quality education.

Gender justice

GFC and our partners promote gender equity, advance girls’ education, inspire healthy masculinities, support the rights of LGBTQ+ youth, and ensure that young people live free from gender-based violence and exploitation.

Safety and wellbeing

We are committed to ending violence and exploitation of children, to helping young survivors rebuild their lives, and to protecting the mental health and wellbeing of every child and young person.

Climate resilience

Young people are mobilizing to address climate change. They are building resilience in their communities, educating their families and communities, advocating for policy changes, and stewarding the environment. We work with young leaders and youth-led organizations finding real solutions for both people and the planet.

Youth power

Young people are achieving incredible things - creating change in the present and shaping the future. We help young people become leaders and changemakers, making sure they have the opportunities, skills, and confidence to tackle the issues central to their lives and their communities.

Solidarity in emergencies

In times of crisis, we are committed to supporting our partners around the world as they respond in their communities. From natural disasters to conflict or health emergencies, our local partners are well-positioned to address emerging challenges. GFC provides emergency grants, technical support, and wellbeing solidarity to our partners as they navigate emergencies impacting their organizations and their communities.

Impact and Learning

Global Fund for Children funds community-based organizations and works closely with them to strengthen their capacity to create change. Our primary impact is on the organizations we support, and by extension, the impact they create with and for children and young people, in their communities.

Every organization has its unique aspirations and approaches, so our work with each organization is unique, tailored, and made possible by trust and understanding of their unique contexts.

We capture global quantitative indicators to capture how organizations change over time, but qualitative stories of change are critical to understanding the impact of GFC’s work. Our impact and learning approach is rooted in feedback, participatory learning reviews, and a commitment to capture only the information GFC and our partners will actually use to deepen our learning and to become more effective in our closely collaborative work.

Mission

The mission of the Hearst Foundations is to identify and fund outstanding nonprofits to ensure that people of all backgrounds in the United States can build healthy, productive and satisfying lives. Through its grantmaking, the Hearst Foundations support well-established nonprofit organizations that address significant issues within their major areas of focus—culture, education, health and social service—and that primarily serve large demographic and/or geographic constituencies. In each area of funding, the Foundations seek to identify those organizations achieving truly differentiated results relative to other organizations making similar efforts for similar populations. The Foundations also look for evidence of sustainability beyond their support.

Whether providing a scholarship to a deserving student, supporting a rural health clinic or bringing artists into schools so children can see firsthand the beauty of the arts, the Foundations’ focus is consistent: to help those in need, those underserved and those underrepresented in society. Since the Foundations were formed in the 1940s, the scale and capabilities of the grant making have changed, but the mission has not.

Education Grant

The Hearst Foundations fund educational institutions demonstrating uncommon success in preparing students to thrive in a global society. The Foundations’ focus is largely on higher education, but they also fund innovative models of early childhood and K-12 education, as well as professional development.

Funding Priorities in Health

The Hearst Foundations are only able to fund approximately 25% of all grant requests, of which about 80% is directed to prior grantees and about 20% is targeted for new grantees.

In the recent past, 30% of total funding has been allocated to Education. Organizations with budgets over $10 million have received 80% of the funding in Education.

Funding

Minimum grant size is $100,000.

Established in 1957 and animated by the Jewish value of tzedakah (obligation to be charitable), the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation promotes social justice and human rights through six program areas:

• Strengthening Public Education seeks to improve outcomes and opportunities for students and the quality of teaching and leadership in the Baltimore City school system
• Arts and Culture nurtures a robust cultural scene and ensures that the arts are accessible to children and underserved audiences in the Baltimore region
• Health and Mental Health aims to expand access to quality, affordable health and mental health services for low-income residents of Baltimore City and create better health outcomes locally, regionally and nationally by addressing environmental threats to human health
• Strengthening Israeli Democracy works to support Israel as a pluralistic society by promoting shared society between Jewish and Arab citizens in the Negev, building the pipeline to higher education and workforce integration for Israel’s ethnic minorities, and protecting Israel’s environment
• Jewish Life focuses on keeping Judaism meaningful and responsive to contemporary concerns through “repairing the world”, furthering progressive and inclusive approaches to Judaism, and facilitating nuanced discourse among American Jews about Israel
• International Human Rights advances women’s and reproductive rights, and protects the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in the US and other countries

The Foundation supports organizations that: promote systemic change; involve constituent participation in identifying needs, planning and decision-making; encourage innovation; have clear goals, a process for evaluation and a long-range funding strategy.

International Human Rights Program Area

The Foundation’s program in International Human Rights reflects the commitment of its founders to the principles of universal rights. As President of the American Jewish Committee from 1949 to 1954, Jacob Blaustein worked to protect the civil and religious rights of Jews and other minorities and to promote intergroup tolerance. He was a lifelong advocate for human rights and helped to promote the idea of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, a position that was established more than twenty years after his death in 1970.

The Foundation funds a small number of grantees that work to advance international human rights. The Foundation generally supports US based organizations that address international issues, rather than those based abroad. The Foundation rarely provides support for programs or projects that focus on one country or region.

Internationally, the Foundation works in three areas:

• Advancing women's and reproductive rights. We do not provide support for domestic programs in this area.
• Protecting the rights of refugees and asylum seekers who seek refuge in the United States and other countries.
• Supporting cross-cutting programs that advance leadership development, capacity-building and training across issues. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals in this area.

In 1971, the Foundation created and endowed the Jacob Blaustein Institute for the Advancement of Human Rights at the American Jewish Committee. This is an independent entity with its own governance, programmatic priorities and grantmaking program.

The Russell Foundation

The Russell Foundation supports programs for children and youth that promote their development into confident, competent, and caring adults who will make positive contributions to society.

Our Purpose

To make a positive difference in the lives of children, youth and young adults (thru age 23) so that they can achieve their highest potential.

Our Business

Supporting qualified charitable organizations, projects and research that seek solutions to detrimental issues – individual and systemic – which achieve enduring positive effects on the physical, intellectual and emotional development of children and youth of all ages and socio-economic status.

Focus Areas

Award grants focus on six areas supporting children and youth. The distribution of grants awarded each year reflects the Foundation’s current emphasis toward each area. The Foundation’s future emphasis may change, but it will consider grant applications addressing any of these focus areas.

• Education: Advancing the learning skills and academic achievements of children from kindergarten to high school using tutoring, mentoring, and talent-coaching that supplement and complement formal educational systems.
• Development: Building the long-term life skills, awareness, and ambition to have the confidence and motivation necessary to pursue goals for the betterment of themselves and society. 
• Intervention: Providing the short-term framework and resources needed to protect children facing immediate difficulties in their living environments that undermine their long-term development.
• Character: Instilling morals and principles that foster ethical behavior, self-responsibility, respect for others, stewardship of the environment, and caring for those in need.
• Health: Fostering and maintaining the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of children that is essential for positive development.
• Medical: Providing services, resources, and other support for specific treatment / correction of birth defects, disease, and physical injury.

Our Mission Statement

The Von Voigtlander Family Foundation, an irrevocable charitable trust under Michigan law was created by Jeff and Kathleen Von Voigtlander.

Our mission is to make the world a better place by being part of the building and strengthening of those in need of assistance.

• The Foundation will strive to support public education through grants to education institutions for scholarships, extracurricular programs, athletics, technology, and motivational speakers for assemblies, as well as other educational needs.
• We will strive to make a difference in the lives of under-privileged, disabled and terminally ill children through grants to hospitals and other public charities for medical research, education, and programs dedicated to helping such children achieve their dreams.
• Since recreation and the preservation of land for the enjoyment of everyone ties to the well-being of both young and old, the Foundation will make grants to those public charities that work to protect our parks and recreational areas.
• We will also make grants in support of programs at public charities that are dedicated to the rescue and protection of animals due to disaster, abandonment, or abuse, as well as the training of dogs for special needs children and the disabled.
• The Foundation will focus on supporting our military and veterans affairs programs.

Areas of Focus:

Youth - Assisting our youth is an important facet of our Foundation’s mission. Providing scholarships to deserving students in need, supporting our public schools, and assisting programs and camps for disadvantaged children are ways that we strive to help our youth. Supporting these programs can benefit those with and without disabilities by giving them a sense of accomplishment and inclusion.

Animals - Pets are important members of many families. Our Foundation seeks to support animals of all kinds, from relocation and homing efforts, to assistance after natural disasters, to training service animals to assist with disabled members of our community.

Conservation -Our Foundation strives to support our community recreations areas, such as bike and hike trails. In addition to the many health benefits that these areas provide, such as reducing obesity and diminishing chronic diseases, recreational areas provide social benefits and support for our youth. Reducing crime and uniting families are some of the social benefits, and decreasing drug and alcohol use are ways that these areas support our youth population.

Military Veterans - Supporting those who have served is extremely important to the members of our Foundation. This includes the families of veterans, who are advocates in assisting veterans in getting the services they need and deserve. Supporting the training of service dogs for our veterans suffering from PTSD or other physical and mental disabilities is something we are all passionate about.

Helping Victims Of Domestic Violence And Sexual Assault

Build Awareness, Offer Solutions, And Address Needs

The Robin McGraw and Dr. Phil Foundation is devoted to helping advance organizations and programs that serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and individuals facing crisis to live healthy, safe and joy-filled lives. We also support communities that have been severely affected by disasters.

Dr. Phil McGraw, the most well-known mental health professional in the world launched his award-winning daytime talk show in 2002. Dr. Phil has used his platform to make psychology accessible and understandable to the general public by addressing important personal and social issues. In 2003, Dr. Phil established the Dr. Phil Foundation funding many worthy organizations benefitting disadvantaged families and children.

What We Fund

The following areas are eligible for grant consideration from the foundation: 

Domestic Violence

Emphasis is given to programs that help domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual traffic victims live healthy, safe and joy-filled lives by providing shelter, support, education, counseling and healing. Preference is given to prevention of domestic violence, the expansion of services and improvements to infrastructure or buildings that positively impact survivors.

Children and Foster Care

Emphasis is given to organizations that seek to provide a strong foundation for the social, emotional, educational and spiritual well-being of children, providing them with access to critically needed services, including safe and loving homes, hunger relief, medical and mental health services, education and job training.

Additionally, we support the importance of family reunification and adoption. Priority is given to organizations affecting change in the foster care system to improve outcomes and create positive experiences for children.

Disaster Relief

In the event of national and international crises, resources will be made available for restricted donations to be received. Support may not be solicited.

Purpose Statement

The Fischer Family Foundation supports the mission of improving the lives of underprivileged and low-income populations primarily ages 8-25 in Southwest Florida through various resources that support enriching lives, improving mental health, and promoting overall well-being. These resources are focused on, but not limited to, education, summer camps, intensive overnight wellness and/or recovery retreats, wilderness programs, and substance abuse treatment facilities, programs and/or services.

Funding priority is given, but not limited to, the following areas:

• Substance Abuse
• Prevention and education programs targeting youth and at-risk populations
• Accessible treatment and recovery support services
• Harm-reduction initiatives, such as needle exchange programs
• Mental health
• Initiatives that improve access to mental health services in underserved areas
• Programs addressing the mental health needs such as summer camp, overnight retreats
• Camps serving underprivileged children including scholarships for low-income families
• Outdoor education programs that promote environmental stewardship and experiential learning

Priority will be given to requests to provide underprivileged youth access to opportunities for connection, skill building, conflict resolution, independence, and new experiences that can enrich their lives socially and emotionally.

Grant Types

• The Fischer Family Foundation offers project-specific grants, general operating support and capacity-building grants
• Multi-year grants may be considered for well-established organizations with a proven track record

Grant Size

• Grant sizes typically range from $5,000 to $15,000, yet larger grants may be awarded for exceptional projects

The Impact Fund awards recoverable grants to legal services nonprofits, private attorneys, and small law firms who seek to confront economic, environmental, racial, and social injustice. Since our founding in 1992, the Impact Fund has made more than 800 recoverable grants totaling more than $10 million for impact litigation. We award grants four times per year, most within the range of US$10,000 to US$50,000.

Social Justice

The Impact Fund provides grants and legal support to assist in human and civil rights cases. We have helped to change dozens of laws and win cases to improve the rights of thousands. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Texas and North Carolina, incarcerated people with mental health disabilities are forced to remain in jail despite being found not guilty and unable to proceed with a criminal trial.
• In Orange County, California there are currently 13 gang injunctions under effect, which disproportionately affect young men of color.
• In Chicago, Illinois, the city’s homeless shelter program is inaccessible to people with disabilities.
• In Springfield, Oregon, the city and its police department used excessive force against Black Lives Matter protesters.
• In West Virginia, the state fails to protect children in foster care from abuse and neglect. 
• In Montana, voter suppression laws disadvantage young adults and give priority to gun owners.
• In Gary, Indiana, a gun manufacturer negligently marketed and distributed its guns, leading to an epidemic of gun violence in the city. 
• In Vancouver, British Columbia, the police perpetuate systemic discrimination against Indigenous people through bureaucratic measures.

Environmental Justice

The Impact Fund provides grants to support local litigation for environmental justice. These grants are for cases aiming to help people or communities who are affected by environmental harm or who lack access to basic environmental needs, such as clean water, clean air, adequate waste treatment, and green spaces. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Centreville, Illinois, the city’s failure to maintain its sewer system has caused raw sewage to flood peoples’ homes, endangering the property and health of a predominantly Black community.
• In Fresno County, California, the California Department of Transportation approved a highway expansion project that would increase air pollution and traffic in one of the state’s most environmentally burdened communities.
• In downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the proposed expansion of a highway would divide the region's Black, Asian, and Latine neighborhoods and cause pollution and ill health.
• In North Dakota, the five-month closure of a highway in response to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests disproportionately affected the livelihoods and health of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe members.
• In Ontario, Canada, mercury contamination of the English-Wabigoon river system causes catastrophic environmental and health impacts for the Grassy Narrows First Nation.
• In Sacramento, California, the county government and Sacramento Area Sewer District violated the Clean Water Act by discharging raw sewage into nearby rivers.
• In the Eastern Coachella Valley in California, 1,900 residents of the Oasis Mobile Home Park suffer from arsenic-laced drinking water, wastewater contamination, and overcharging for utilities.

Economic Justice

The Impact Fund provides financial and other forms of support to cases fighting for economic justice. From workers' rights to consumer protection for vulnerable populations, impact litigation is a powerful tool to hold corporationss and the government accountable. The cases we are funding allege that:

• In Brooklyn, New York, a prominent mortgage lender engaged in predatory practices, leaving homeowners of color at risk of losing their homes. 
• In Washington, live-in caregivers are unconstitutionally excluded from the state’s wage-and-hour protections.
• In Ravalli County, Montana, the county has created a “modern-day debtors’ prison” by incarcerating people unable to afford pre-trial fees. 
• In San Diego, California, vehicle ordinances target unhoused vehicle owners even when no adequate housing alternative exists.
• In New York, a federal immigration detention facility is violating minimum wage and forced labor laws by forcing detainees to work for just a dollar a day. 
• In Minneapolis, Minnesota, the city and county destroy the property of unhoused individuals and conduct forced evictions from public spaces. 
• In Miami, Florida, insurance companies discriminate against a nonprofit community development corporation renting to tenants with Section 8 rental subsidies.

Jack and Jill of America Foundation

Our Mission

Our mission is to address issues affecting African American children and families, by investing in programs and services that create a strong foundation for children to thrive long-term. 

Health & Wellness Agency Grant

This grant is offered to 501(c)(3) Organizations/Agencies who provide access to Heart & Mental Health Education and Resources for the Prevention, Detection and/or Treatment Support for Disadvantaged or Underserved Communities.

The Akamai Foundation

The Akamai Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the next generation of technology innovators by supporting STEM education, with a focus on the pursuit of excellence in mathematics in grades K-12. Grants focus on equal access to quality STEM education with grants supporting programs designed to attract more diversity to the technology industry. Early Learner STEM Education Grant

The Akamai Foundation is pleased to launch the 2025 Early Learner STEM Education grant program. In addition to our core focus on STEM learning, we aim to help global education programs navigate the pandemic's economic impact and address digital inclusion gaps for young learners (pre-college students ages 5-19).

All applicants are required to provide a comprehensive plan outlining their STEM education program goals. This should include a digital inclusion strategy to address and eliminate barriers to access and use of technology in learning, especially for the most disadvantaged. Digital inclusion strategy examples include but are not limited to:

• Internet-enabled Device Access
• Digital Safety, Security & Citizenship Training (Digital Literacy training)
• Quality Technical Support
• Partnership with digital inclusion practitioners and advocates
• Digital content designed to encourage independent learning, participation, and collaboration

Jesse W. Couch lived a life of zeal, honor, and dedication to the betterment of his community. The Couch family now humbly stewards the foundation he created to carry on his legacy of service for future generations. Khyentse Foundation was established to actualize the vision of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to preserve and promote the Buddha’s wisdom. Grant Philosophy

Supporting Buddhist Study and practice is at the heart of Khyentse Foundation’s mission, and our grants and scholarships programs are the way we connect with you and learn about your work. There are a number of ways to apply, and we support a wide range of dharma studies, practice, and activities.

Our applicants are Buddhist teachers, students, scholars, educators, translators, practitioners, and retreatants. In the nonsectarian spirit of the Khyentse lineage, we support all Buddhist traditions from all parts of the world. Each application is reviewed by international review committees, appointed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.

Trisong Grant

Khyentse Foundation Trisong Grants aim to identify and support individuals and organizations that are working to promote mental health and well-being in the world, through projects and programs that have a foundation in Buddha’s wisdom. In difficult and turbulent times, people may not know where to turn for help. Khyentse Foundation wants to find new ways for people to experience the benefits of Buddha’s teachings. Projects do not need to be overtly Buddhist, but they should be rooted in Buddhist view and practice and share in values that alleviate suffering, encourage emotional well-being, and strengthen both physical and mental health. We encourage applications that offer innovative, creative, and skillful solutions to sharing a Buddhist view of basic well-being. Most of our applications come from Buddhist practitioners or groups.

Examples of applications that may be well-received include:

• A Buddhist center offering hospice service or training people in end-of-life care
• A project using art or performance therapy in a group setting
• Doing outreach and social work for people in need
• Using Buddhist concepts to help people struggling with addiction
• A program to visit schools and talk to young people about managing their emotions in difficult times
• Developing a Buddhist chaplaincy curriculum
• A Buddhist center hosting an informal event for the local community
• A project to offer a group meditation program in a prison setting
• Starting a Buddhist-based depression and anxiety support group

How and Why Giving Back to Communities is Important to O’Reilly

Disaster Relief

Providing funding and visibility to organizations specializing in providing relief from natural disasters and state of emergency, including providing temporary shelter, food, water, and hygiene or sanitation products to those affected and aiding in cleanup efforts.

Application Requirements

We will consider three principal types of grants:

Project Support Grants support specific projects or programs aligned with our mission. These requests may include some funds earmarked for the overhead costs associated with running a project.

General Operating Support Grants provide limited general operating support for the core operations or organizations whose missions and activities are aligned with our mission. These grants will often help the grantee build organizational, programmatic, and fundraising capacity. Operating support is not intended to help organizations in fiscal crisis. Applicants must have a current strategic or business plan that clearly outlines the organization’s goals and presents a plan for achieving results. Operating support grants must not exceed 15% of an organization’s total agency budget.

Capital Support Grants provide limited support for capital campaigns to fund the acquisition and construction of facilities, existing property renovation, or the purchase of major equipment. The program has a comprehensive approach to funding capital initiatives, which also includes funding for increased program capacity. A feasibility study may be required for capital initiatives to be considered.

  • PTSD is the silent impact of war and deployment, but it's also one of the most important issues to remedy. We work to pilot new initiatives for individuals who return home with PTSD, brain injury or other mental injuries.

  • Deployment and war affects the family as well. At Infinite Hero Foundation, we provide resources for organizations who support spouses, children and parents in managing the day-to-day.
• Suicide Prevention
  • Life is important. We understand that our military and veterans have sacrificed mentally and physically for our country, and it's our job to continue to support innovation to ensure they get the support they need to heal.

Grant Program

Since our inception in 2012, Infinite Hero Foundation has awarded more than $5.7 million dollars in funding and support to 51 different military service organizations offering innovative and effective programs or treatments for service-related mental and physical injuries. 

We see IHF as an investment fund for nonprofit entities pushing the envelope on developing effective treatments for heroes’ service-related mental and physical injuries.

Funding

Program grants up to $100,000 per cycle, per year will be considered based alignment with Infinite Hero’s mission and goals, on need, and an approved budget. Infinite Hero funds must be applied directly to program costs and cannot be used for fundraising or administrative overhead. 

Children’s Mental Health Innovation Awards

Our program aims to seed fund transformative mental healthcare solutions for children across the U.S. It helps address the lack of investment in youth mental health, connect innovative ideas with capital, and build capacity for nonprofits.  

About the Program 

This initiative invites U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charities with an annual total revenue under $5 million to submit innovative ideas for advancing children’s mental health.There are two award categories: the Innovation Awards ($100,000 each) which are open to all, and the Next Gen Innovation Awards ($25,000 - $50,000 each) which are open to nonprofits founded and/or led by leaders under 32 years old, with more than two years in operation.Up to $550,000 in grants are provided and select applicants are invited to join the Leadership Learning Series. What are the goals of the Innovation Awards?

The Innovation Awards program aims to help fill the funding gap in the under-resourced children’s mental health sector and provide runway for game-changing ideas. Mildred's Dream Foundation Grant

Mildred’s Dream Foundation (MDF) provides grants to community-based non-profit organizations, across priority focus areas that help us meet our mission. All grant requests must align with at least one (1) of these key areas:

Education (with a focus on access, diversity and/or inclusion for children)

Domestic Violence (including Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Stalking, Abuse Prevention and Survivor Support)

Physical and/or Mental Health Challenges

Our Grant Committee is responsible for the review of grant applications and the decisions regarding the award and distribution of funds. Up to $25,000 will be provided per grant and amounts funded are based on the organization’s budgetary needs, strength of application, and close alignment with our mission and areas of giving. Please note, most grant awards from MDF average between $5,000 and $10,000.

MDF provides grants which fund specific programs or projects, including both direct service and projects that further MDF’s mission. Up to 20% of the grant request submitted can be used for general operating costs, excluding rent, utilities, office supplies, taxes and insurance. Staff salary can be considered if necessary for program delivery, implementation or expansion of the project.

The National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG) is a nonprofit organization that raises awareness about the needs of children and teens who are grieving a death and provides education and resources for anyone who supports them. Through the collective voice of our members and partners, we educate, advocate and raise awareness about childhood bereavement.

Cycle Overview

Through Grief Reach, the New York Life Foundation and the National Alliance for Children’s Grief are working together to strengthen nonprofit infrastructure, enhance access, and elevate the field of childhood bereavement through the Grief Reach grant program. This cycle is focused specifically on capacity building—strengthening the internal operations, infrastructure, and sustainability of organizations that serve children who are grieving.

Each awarded grant will be $15,000 for a one-year period. Only one application per organization is allowed during this cycle. We would like to invite any organization that currently serves young people who are grieving to apply for this competitive grant opportunity.

• Family & Child Empowerment: The Foundation funds organizations that positively impact the health and wellbeing of children and their families. These organizations provide food and shelter, healthcare, educational support, and counseling services for families and children. An emphasis is placed on the needs of at-risk and under-resourced children and families with the goal of keeping kids safe and building strong family environments.

Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund

The Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund is a first of its kind philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting youth and intergenerationally led organizations shaping the responsible technology movement. The Fund, which has raised $1.5 million from 11 funders, is now accepting applications from 501(c)3 eligible public charities with award amounts ranging from $25,000 to $200,000 — based on the stage of the organization and funding needs.

The responsible technology movement is about:

• Building, shaping, and stewarding our tech ecosystem to safeguard human rights
• Leveraging technology platforms to address social, cultural, political, or environmental problems
• Ensuring equitable access to the benefits of technology
• Mitigating the harmful impacts of technology in communities

The Responsible Technology Youth Power Fund invites youth and intergenerationally led organizations to submit proposals for initiatives that are shaping the future of the responsible technology movement.

Young people are a powerful force in the pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable technology ecosystem. However, cultural, social, and infrastructural barriers often prevent youth-led organizations and intergenerational partnerships from accessing funding and realizing their full power and potential in shaping responsible technology.

We will be focusing on the three following pillars in selecting our finalists:

Grant Award Amounts

Funding levels will depend on the stage of your initiative.

The levels of funding are as follows:

• Phase One: $25,000 - $50,000 (e.g. early stage of initiative or organization; little to no existing programming at the youth and tech intersection)
• Phase Two: $50,000 - $100,000 (e.g. pilot stage initiative or organization; moderate traction with at least a year of programming)
• Phase Three: $100,000 - $200,000 (e.g. scale stage organization or initiative; significant traction, track record of meaningful impact, partnerships and networks; at least a year of programming)

Note that the blurbs in the above parentheses are directional but there can be exceptions e.g. organization existing for 6-months with tremendous amount of traction and resources could potentially apply for scale stage.

Sport 4 Children Award

A principal mission of the Boustany Foundation is to enable children to live happy, healthy, productive, meaningful, and rewarding lives. To this end, the Foundation is excited to announce the launch of our Sport 4 Children Award.

At the Boustany Foundation we believe that implementing sport in group activities for young children can be a powerful way of engaging and inspiring them. Sport delivers many potential benefits: from physical health to mental and psychological benefits such as teamworking, discipline, perseverance, confidence, stress reduction and positive mood enhancement. Playing in a team helps children to develop many of the social skills they will need for life. It teaches them to cooperate, to be less selfish and to listen to other children. An important part of playing in a team is accepting discipline. Playing sport means children are expected to follow rules and accept decisions.

Developed specifically for associations, NGOs, institutions, foundations, local authorities and those specialising in social impact, this new Award is open to organisations who are currently running or planning projects that use sport as the basis to improve the wellbeing and life opportunities of children.

The Sport 4 Children Award is offered once every three years and is available to eligible organisations of any size or profile. Projects submitted for the Award can involve any sport that encourages children to engage in physical activity. These can be implemented in any country in the world.

Applications for the Award may propose projects ranging from the organisation of sports activities and events that focus on the social and educational role of sport through to the provision of sport facilities and equipment.

Objectives of the Award

• To enable, promote and encourage children to participate in sporting activities
• To stimulate new sports initiatives for children

Thereby:

• Improving their mental wellbeing and encouraging healthy behavioural change
• Creating relationships and communities which embrace ethnic, cultural and physical differences
• Engendering an enthusiastic attitude to engaging with social and educational opportunities
• Highlighting the value of self-esteem and confidence gained through achievement
• Helping disadvantaged children to live their childhoods free from violence
• Encouraging children to develop as conscientious, responsible adults.

Funding

The Boustany Foundation will be offering an award of 50.000 Euros to the winning project. The funds will be provided in two or three stages over the evolution of the project.
