Accounting Back-Office Support Program

Designed to build the capacity of nonprofits by strengthening back-office functions, these grants will help nonprofits increase efficiencies, lower operating expenses, increase employee retention and ensure compliance while allowing more time to be dedicated to mission related activities. In this first phase, AFF will focus on bookkeeping including bill processing, bill paying, payroll processing, and general accounting supports. In future phases, additional solutions may be available.

Accounting Back-Office Support Program and Timeline

• AFF has contracted with LSWG on their Book$mart Program.
• The grant is considered a phase-down program, meaning that in year one, all expenses for LSWG’s Book$mart program are funded at 100% by AFF. In year two, the program will be funded at 50% by AFF. Organizations may continue to participate in the Book$mart program, beyond the end of their second year, at full cost.
• There is no application deadline, but only a limited amount of these grants will be awarded during this first phase of the pilot. We will be selecting four organizations through a competitive grant application process for the first year. Based on the success of the first year of Phase 1, AFF envisions adding additional nonprofits in subsequent years to expand the capacity and service delivery of numerous nonprofit organizations throughout our community.

Overview

Applicants who wish to apply for a grant award that does not fit into other specific Foundation grant programs may apply for a General Grant. The request must fit the Foundation's guidelines.

General Grants

General Grants are awarded to fund costs associated with operating an organization, and/or developing, implementing, and/or maintaining a project or program.

• Operating costs include the fixed and variable expenses of the organization.
• Program costs include expenses associated with the services related to the organization's mission.
• Project costs include expenses associated with a specific activity that moves the organization's mission forward.

Grants may be awarded with or without a challenge matching funds component. 

General Grants with a Challenge Match Funds Component

The goal of the matching funds component is to encourage others to give, including inspiring board members to support the organization and to leverage new donors and contributions in the community. Grantees have a defined time frame in which to raise matching funds as well as restrictions on eligible donations. In-kind and government funding cannot count toward matching funds.

• Funds must be raised within the grant-award period.
• Matching funds’ parameters are requested by the applicant and reviewed and approved by Trustees.
• The Grantee may request disbursement of the matching funds by:
  • Providing a statement signed by an executive on staff and a board officer that the donations are accurate and in line with the terms in the Grant Covenant
  • OR use the previous method of proving matching donations by providing a list of donors, the dates of the donations, and the amount of the donation given toward the matching grant, plus any materials that support the donations, such as check copies, charges, and online donations. The list of donations and the supporting materials must be submitted in the same order.
• Foundation funds are distributed after the matching funds are raised and documentation is provided to the Foundation.

Grant Requests

The Del Mar Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to promoting civic pride and community cohesiveness, acquiring and preserving open space, improving beaches and parklands, raising and granting funds, and sponsoring diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar. The Del Mar Foundation has a grant budget to support organizations and projects/activities that further these objectives.

 The Foundation makes every effort to distribute funds evenly throughout the year so that funds are available to fund grant requests as they are received throughout each year. The Foundation is also willing to support organizations in other ways, such as providing organizational fundraising and marketing expertise as well as providing “seed” funding for fundraising and other ongoing activities. 

The Grants Committee accepts grant applications throughout the year. An applicant may apply as often as needed. There are no minimum grant amounts however our budget is limited so that we can grant numerous grants throughout the year. No grant is to exceed 25% of the yearly grant budget. Modifications to the annual grant budget require prior Board approval. Applicants may be asked to attend a Foundation Board meeting to discuss the grant request.

WaterStone Bank established the WaterStone Bank Foundation with the Waukesha County Community Foundation in 2002 in order to ensure the bank’s ability to continually give back to the communities in which we serve.

Core Giving Categories

Each year, the WaterStone Bank Foundation receives a large number of charitable donation requests from nonprofit organizations. In order to focus our charitable giving, the WaterStone Bank Foundation has identified four target areas for its grants:

Education

The Education category includes nonprofit organizations such as schools, school programs, educational foundations, scholarship programs, libraries and literacy programs and financial literacy initiatives.

Women and Children

This category includes nonprofit organizations that benefit women's initiatives and any initiatives that do not fall under the education category that benefit children under the age of 18.

Community Development

The Community Development category includes nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the broad community through low-income housing programs, economic and business development organizations, civic celebrations and events, scouting groups, youth programs and zoological societies.

Veterans Initiatives

The Veterans Initiatives category includes nonprofit organizations in the Greater Milwaukee area that provide services to those who are military veterans.

Avion Takes Action

Avion Takes Action is an employee-led charitable giving fund that supports non-profit organizations in the local communities of our employee owners. By harnessing the power of collective giving, we have provided more than $250,000 in support to improve our communities over the past three years.

Quality of Life Priorities

• Basic Needs – Food, shelter, jobs, and family support
• Education – Early childhood development, special education programs, college and career-readiness, and mentoring for at-risk segments of the community
• Environment – Sustainable development, reduction of energy consumption, and protection of natural resources
• Health Care – Access to basic health care and dental care
• Veterans – Programs aimed at improving quality of life for veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces

Grants

Grant applications must support programs aligned with one or more of the quality-of-life priorities mentioned above. Non-profit organizations may receive an award from Avion Takes Action once every 12 months.

Avion Takes Action will award a minimum of six $5,000 grants on a semi-annual basis.

There is an often quoted parable that tells of two people fishing downstream who are startled to see a person floating down the river, struggling for life. Working together, the fisher folk pull the person to safety but shortly after they notice another person crying for help. Again, they pull the person to safety. Other community members hear what is happening and rush to help. As the fisher folk tire, volunteers take their place, and the community works together all day and all night to safely pull more and more people from the river. The next morning the community members have a new idea—we need to go upstream and find out why so many people are falling in the water. Upon walking upstream, the community members find that people are drawn to the edge of a cliff to look at the river and its beauty. Unfortunately, there is no safe way to do this and many of them fall. The community members return and report the number of people who have fallen into the river due to the lack of a protective barrier on the cliff. In response, the community builds a wall behind which people may safely view the water. Some still fall, but there are far fewer.

Funding Priorities

• The Greater Harrisburg Community Foundation (GHCF) UPstream grant opportunity seeks to improve our area communities by supporting existing or new “upstream” systems, interventions, programs, or projects that attempt to create positive social change by addressing a problem at its source rather than managing its “downstream” symptoms.
• This grant opportunity is open to singular or collective nonprofit organizations whose proposals will serve the GHCF service area of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, and/or Perry Counties and the Dillsburg Area of Northern York County.
• GHCF UPstream is available to organizations of all sizes, budgets, and reaches.
• The number of grant awards will be dependent upon the quantity of qualified applicants and funds sought.

GHCF UPstream welcomes creative and strategic solutions that seek to address the source of systemic issues within the communities you serve. Applicants may seek support for ANY “upstream” project, program, or intervention that best meets the needs of the population to be served. Examples of upstream projects include, but are not limited to: access to quality education, access to a safe and healthy environment; life skills training; materials that increase accessibility or improve an individual’s self-sufficiency; availability of reliable and safe transportation that improves an individual or group’s ability to grow, learn, or address a key need; animal spay/neuter clinics; early health screenings; job training and placement; support of basic needs that work to support an individual or group’s ability to grow, learn, or address a key need. The principal focus of GHCF UPstream is the support of any grant application that best presents upstream solutions to any area of community need. In addition, GHCF is empowered by a range of special funds which serve to collectively strengthen our area communities through shared themes and also welcomes upstream applications that address:

• Education: Early childhood education; education & development programs for children & youth; educational programs serving adults
• Environment & Parks: Environmental stewardship; horticulture & the arts; health & environment; park beautification & improvement
• Health & Wellness: Health & human services; programs and projects focusing upon: cancer awareness and/or research, dental care for those in need, HIV & AIDS, individuals with debilitating or terminal illness, Individuals with intellectual disabilities, prevention of head and/or spinal cord injury, purchasing of devices that improve accessibility
• Homelessness & Hunger: Programs & projects addressing homelessness & hunger
• Mental Health: Counseling for children with terminally ill family members; guidance, counseling, or programming that includes guidance and/or counseling for youths; programs and projects that address mental health
• Seniors: Programs & projects serving older adults
• Communities of Focus: Programs and projects that benefit residents of Millersburg, a borough of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Disaster relief & human services that serve the communities of Lebanon City, PA and Cressona, PA. Projects to enhance Camp Hill Borough parks provided by youth organizations such as Scout programs or other youth organizations; programs & projects that focus upon or nurture access to early childhood education within Camp Hill.
• Please note: each community of focus is supported by special funds and parameters established by caring community members and is specific to the respective community.

Attention Prospective Arts Applicants! – The Greater Harrisburg Community Foundation recognizes the artistic, cultural, and economic value of the arts and is pleased to offer funding opportunities for the arts through The Arts for All Partnership, a collaboration between the Greater Harrisburg Community Foundation and the Cultural Enrichment Fund. This unique collaborative funding initiative aims to improve the efficiency of arts grant funding and increase the overall impact of grant funding for arts programming in our communities. Prospective grant applicants whose project is centered upon the arts and access to the arts, will be best served by seeking funding support through The Arts for All Partnership rather than GHCF Upstream.

Establishment of Foundation

John K. and Luise V. Hanson established and funded The Hanson Foundation in 1970 with $1,000,000. They contributed another $1,000,000 in 1988 and an additional $5 million in 1994. Upon John K. Hanson’s death in 1996, the foundation received $23 million from his estate.

Philanthropic Model

The John K. and Luise V. Hanson Foundation is listed as one of the Top 15 Foundations in Iowa, according to The Foundation Center, with total assets of approximately $72 million. The foundation has awarded over $64 million to nearly 1,000 organizations in more than 100 communities. Since 1970, the foundation has positively impacted the lives of tens of thousands of individuals by supporting projects that improve the quality of life for families.

Our Mission

The John K. and Luise V. Hanson Foundation is a private family foundation that gives back to communities and enhances the quality of life for individuals in north central Iowa. The foundation, also known as the Hanson Family Foundation, has a special interest in projects that strengthen families through arts and culture, family recreation, and youth development/education. Recognizing the value of innovative medical treatment to families, the foundation also has philanthropic ties to the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

About the Foundation

Clyde F. Schlueter Foundation, Inc. was incorporated on October 10, 1977 with Mr. Schlueter serving as its first president. In its nearly 30-year history, the foundation awarded over $1 million in grants to more than 100 different organizations.

Assets of the Schlueter Foundation were transferred to the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin on August 11, 2016 and a donor advised fund was established in its name. The Schlueter advisory board continues to meet two times per year to review applications in June and September and recommend grants for worthy projects and programs through the Community Foundation.

Statement of Purpose

The stated purpose of the original foundation was to promote growth in character and service of young men and women in the greater Wausau area through physical, social, intellectual, and mental training. The foundation also supported the study of civic projects, projects in the health field that would benefit patients, and educational projects of broad interest involving the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Schlueter specifically listed, as an example, the following organizations: YMCA, YWCA, Scouts, Wausau Hospitals, and the University of Wisconsin Foundation.

Clyde F. Schlueter Foundation Grants

The Clyde F. Schlueter Foundation Fund continues to honor the original intent of Mr. Schlueter’s generosity. The advisory board generally makes recommendations for grants to nonprofit organizations for projects that:

• Serve the greater Wausau area.
• Promote growth in character and service of area youth through physical, social, intellectual, and mental training.
• Provide for civic improvements.

RedRover’s Safe Housing grants help survivors of domestic violence by removing a barrier to safety and allowing pets and people to escape abuse together. Flexibility in how to implement your pet program ensures that there is a solution for every community.

Grant Information

Grants of up to $60,000 are offered to nonprofit domestic violence and animal organizations across the United States. Funding may be used to build or renovate spaces dedicated to housing survivor’s pets, begin a foster program to care for survivor’s pets, pay for temporary boarding for survivor’s pets, or a combination of services that will best serve your community.

Grant funds may also be used for routine veterinary care, emergency veterinary care, and pet deposits. Funds requested to pay for boarding, medical care, and pet deposits are intended to help with program costs for a maximum of two years. It is expected that your organization will use that time to work on a funding plan and cover those costs after RedRover’s funds have been used.

The funds requested must also be based on a researched or demonstrated need for the number of animals expected to use the pet program. Preferably, a minimum of six months of data on the actual need for boarding should be collected before applying. This would include both the number of families needing help and the number of animals.

Building Collaborative Relationships

In addition to helping people and pets find safety together, these grants are meant to help build collaborative relationships within your community. Domestic violence and animal organizations will be expected to work together to identify the needs for these services in their communities and find the best ways to fill them. If veterinary services cannot be provided by the animal organization, a partnership with one or more veterinary clinics is recommended. We also suggest reaching out to community organizations, such as the Girl Scouts, local pet supply stores, places of worship, etc., to see if they are able to fulfill any program needs through community service or donations. Ongoing needs, such as pet food and supplies, leashes and collars, or short-term needs like help with landscaping or organizing, can often be filled by volunteers and fundraisers.

The Young Family Foundation

The Young Family Foundation is a tax-exempt organization whose purpose is to:

• Foster the benefits of higher education by awarding academic college scholarships and vocational school scholarships to worthy graduates of Ganado High School, Louise High School, Tidehaven High School who live in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area and will/are attending an accredited College or University located in the state of Texas, and one scholarship to a worthy student from El Campo High School.
• Foster activities of youth by awarding funds for projects of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, school organizations, and other youth programs whose activities are located in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area,
• Promote goodwill in the community by awarding funds for community projects through Local Government and organizations such as Volunteer Firemen, Emergency Medical Services, Helping Hands, Churches, and other charitable organizations located in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area, 
• Provide funds to other charitable organizations such as the National MPS Society, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and other nationally recognized charitable organizations.

Young Family Foundation Grants

The Young Family Foundation promotes good will in the community by awarding funds for community projects and youth activities through local government, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other charitable organizations.

The Directors will evaluate requests for grants using the prescribed application to determine that:

• The applicant is an appropriate entity to receive funding from the Foundation.
• The funds will be used in the tax-exempt function of the applicant.
• The applicant has made other internal efforts at raising funds for the project under consideration.
• No self-dealing will occur if a grant is made to the applicant.

Daviess County Community Foundation

Established in 1993, the Daviess County Community Foundation is one of over 800 community foundations in the United States today. The Community Foundation is a charitable resource devoted to our local community. We help people make meaningful gifts that improve life in Daviess County, Indiana today and for generations to come.

We are part of the Community Foundation Alliance (The Alliance), a network of nine community foundations serving counties in southwestern Indiana. The Alliance, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, provides management and administrative expertise to county-wide community foundations, empowering each to promote philanthropy, build endowments, and improve well-being in our local community. The Alliance Board of Directors is the governing body and is comprised of up to two representatives from each county affiliate. All are civic-minded volunteers who live or work in the counties they serve.

Health

Activities that improve and promote health outcomes; general and rehabilitative health services; mental health; crisis intervention; associations or services associated with specific diseases, disorders, and medical disciplines; and medical research.

Human Services

Activities that maximize the functioning of special needs populations in mainstream society; that protect the public (crime and delinquency prevention, legal administration, legal services); that promote and support employment and jobs, food and nutrition, agriculture, housing and shelter, public safety, and disaster preparedness and relief; and that support child daycare programs, the United Way, YMCA, YWCA, firefighting activities, and programs of community centers.

Environment

Activities that foster pollution control and abatement, protection and conservation of natural resources, botanic and horticulture, environmental beautification, preservation of open spaces, environmental education and outdoor survival, protection and welfare of animals, humane societies, wildlife preservation and protection, veterinary services, zoos and aquariums, and specialty animal services.

Recreation

Improving and promoting recreational and leisure activities, parks, and community sporting events and activities.

Youth Development

Activities that strengthen the family unit, help children grow and develop, foster youth sports and athletics, that support the Future Farmers of America or other youth development programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and scouting.

The State Conservation Committee's Conservation Grant Program supports and promotes programs and partnerships that protect, restore and enhance the state's valuable natural resources. The New Hampshire State Conservation Committee (SCC) is the state government agency responsible for managing the Conservation Grant Program. Competitive grants are awarded annually to physical and tangible environmental projects that foster stewardship and the sustainability of New Hampshire's natural environment (RSA 261:97-c,III).The Conservation Grant Program's six focus areas include:

• Water Quality and Quantity: Restore, enhance, maintain or protect.
• Wildlife Habitat: Create, restore, enhance, manage or protect.
• Soil Conservation and Flooding: Reduce or prevent erosion or improve soils.
• Best Management Practices: Plan and implement for agriculture, storm or forestry.
• Conservation Planning: Accomplish a conservation project or outcome that includes a public involvement component.
• Land Conservation: Permanent land protection through conservation easement or fee acquisition and/or associated transaction and stewardship costs.

Rockland Trust

Rockland Trust’s philanthropic mission is to strengthen the communities served by the Bank, enabling individuals and their families to access opportunity and improve the quality of their lives.

The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation prioritizes its grants to organizations and programs that serve a majority low-to-moderate income population in the following areas:

We Fund the Future of the Shooting Sports

The NRA Foundation provides financial support to eligible projects, programs and organizations through its grant program. Each year, volunteer committees from across the country tirelessly raise charitable dollars and generous donors make gifts that are in turn awarded as grants in support of educational and public service programs relating to the shooting sports in our communities.

The General Focus of Foundation Grants is to:

• Promote, advance and encourage firearms, shooting sports and hunting safety

• Public benefit may also be shown by the nature of the qualified group benefiting from the project or activity, for example the Boy Scouts, a school, a local law enforcement agency, a veterans group, or other qualified groups may meet this requirement.
• Projects or activities that further amateur sports competitions may meet the public benefit requirement.

California Arbor Week Grants

California ReLeaf is pleased to announce $50,000 in funding for the 2025 California Arbor Week Small Grant Program, generously sponsored by Edison International. Our grant program is also made possible through California ReLeaf’s ongoing support from the USDA Forest and CAL FIRE.

The grant program encourages community-based organizations to plant trees and involve their local community in creating greener, stronger, and healthier neighborhoods. Hosting tree-planting celebrations especially during Arbor Week (March 7 -14) is a wonderful way to promote community engagement and educate people about the importance of trees in promoting community health and addressing climate change. Tree planting offers numerous benefits, including cleaner air, cooler temperatures, and stronger social connections.

The California Arbor Week Small Grant Program is designed to help engage and support groups who may be new to tree planting. We do this by providing technical assistance and coaching for applicants and awarded grantees during project implementation. We encourage all interested applicants to review our grant guidelines below, attend our informational webinar, and register for upcoming technical assistance office hours.

Eligible Project Activities

• Plant and/or care for trees in underserved communities with few existing trees and low tree canopy coverage.
• Tree planting/care events(s) and/or community greening celebration(s) that have an educational component, including the benefits of trees and the importance of tree care (especially ongoing watering in the tree establishment period – the first 3 years after planting).
• Hosting educational programs about trees:
  • community workshops (i.e., workshops about tree selection/tree planting/tree care/urban forest ecology/heritage trees/ethnobotany, etc.)
  • guided tree walks
  • tree-focused educational programs for schools or youth organizations
• Hosting your event during California Arbor Week (March 7-14), National Arbor Day, Earth Month, and /or a Locally celebrated Climate Action/Service Day.
• Tree care post planting – including ongoing maintenance and watering beyond the grant period to ensure tree survival.
• Engaging schools and community youth organizations (i.e., Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, after-school programs, high school environmental service clubs, etc. college corps, youth civic groups like Key Club, etc.)

Funding

The 2025 California Arbor Week Small Grant Program, sponsored by Edison International, offers $50,000 in grant funding to eligible community groups and nonprofits. Projects must be located within Southern California Edison’s service area to be eligible. California ReLeaf anticipates awarding between 13 and 20 grants, with individual grant amounts of either $2,500 or $5,000 per project.

About Erwin A. Fiero, Jr.

Erwin A. Fiero, Jr., known affectionately by friends and family as “Beetle”, was a native of Philadelphia, PA and attended Episcopal Academy, Franklin and Marshall College, St. Joseph College and Villanova University. As a child and young man, he was active in the Boy Scouts where he attained the rank of Life Scout, was a member of Order of the Arrow, and earned the Silver Beaver Award. While in Pennsylvania, he returned to Episcopal Academy and taught for twenty-seven years, shaping the lives of young people and others. Upon retiring in 1981, he relocated to Macon, GA and became a Holy Spirit parishioner and Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 205. While in retirement, Erwin returned to education by substituting at St. Peter Claver School, St. Joseph’s School, Mt. DeSales Academy and Holy Spirit CCD. Volunteering was Erwin’s passion. He continued to give of his time, talent, and treasure by tutoring and transporting the handicapped, delivering Thanksgiving meals to the elderly or seniors in personal care homes, and repairing homes throughout his community. Today, the generosity of Erwin lives on through the Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

The Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund seeks to support organizations and churches that provide services to the community such as tutoring, meal or feeding programs, transportation, assistance to the physically and/or mentally disabled, and home repairs for those in need (through organizations, not to individuals).

Foundation History

Since 1932, the Foundation has awarded nearly $600 million.

Champlin’s investment in Rhode Island’s nonprofit community for the past nine decades has been almost entirely for capital projects. These investments have enabled better medical care, improved educational outcomes, expanded access to social services, fostered economic impact, conserved open space, preserved historic buildings, cultivated creativity and artistic expression, safeguarded care for animals, and more.

It all started with Stanton B. Champlin. Champlin was only twelve years old when he ran away from his family farm in South Kingstown, RI. It was 1838 and he was shoeless and alone. A grocer on Dorrance Street in Providence took pity on the boy and let him sleep in the back room of his store.

That simple act of kindness started a journey that would span generations and create a legacy of generosity that would improve the lives of untold thousands.

The boy would become a jeweler’s apprentice and years later would establish the S.B. Champlin Company. It would grow beyond jewelry and become an industrial empire that expanded into the manufacturing of aluminum, copper and brass tube, jewelry wire, valves, hand trucks, pipe fittings, and hand pumps.

Through the leadership of Champlin, his son, George Byron Champlin, and grandson, George Stanton Champlin, this vast conglomerate became a powerful economic engine that employed thousands and helped drive the economy of Rhode Island and the nation.

While the businesses were retired, the wealth has remained intact in service of Rhode Island, thanks to the creation of the first of the family’s philanthropic foundations in 1932 by the runaway’s grandchildren.

From the first gift of $50 to Rhode Island Hospital in 1933 to buy eyeglasses for the needy, to the preservation of thousands of acres of open space to the distribution of millions of dollars to support social services—it is humbling to think of how that simple act of kindness by a grocer has been multiplied a million-fold.

We continue to build on this rich tradition today, seeking to work in relationship with Rhode Island’s nonprofits, acting as a convener, a coach, and a facilitator for collective success and engagement. We prioritize listening and learning, especially with those organizations serving marginalized communities. The Champlin story is nearly a century old, yet it continues to evolve in new ways for the betterment of all our Rhode Island communities.

Challenge Grants

Challenge grants that enable organizations to leverage Champlin funding to secure matching donations are considered on a highly limited basis at the discretion of the Distribution Committee.

The foundation supports nonprofit organizations and agencies working in nine different fields:

  • Creative expression enables greater understanding and a deeper perspective of our society. Artists give voice, spark imagination, and inspire. Creative communities are economic drivers. Supporting theaters, museums, music groups, and other arts organizations provides access for children and adults to enjoy Rhode Island’s exceptional artists and arts organizations.
• Conservations & Parks:
  • As the nation’s second most densely populated state, open space is a precious, priceless resource in Rhode Island. Preserves and parks contribute mightily to the high quality of life enjoyed in the Ocean State, which is why working with land trusts, conservancies, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, The Nature Conservancy, and others has been a priority for the foundation.
• Education:
  • Our young are a reflection of what our future will be. This is why Champlin maintains a focus on supporting those organizations and schools that provide equitable access to experience and learning—in the classroom, after school, or beyond. Whether it is funding equipment for classroom innovation or grants toward building infrastructure, for preparatory and enrichment programs or independent and charter schools, it all plays a role in Champlin’s grant strategy.
• Healthcare:
  • Every Rhode Islander deserves equal access to quality, affordable healthcare and a strong public health system in our state. This means ensuring that our local hospitals, community health centers, treatment centers, and other nonprofit healthcare providers have the infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment needed to provide quality care and service to all, regardless of the patient’s background or zip code.
• Historic Preservation & Heritage:
  • Learning from the past contributes mightily to understanding the present. Rhode Islanders respect and treasure their history—from First Nations, Colonial era, and the Industrial Revolution through the Great Wars. Historic homes, landmark locations, and museums are one reason Rhode Island is a fascinating place to live and visit.
• Libraries:
  • In the 21st century, libraries have evolved into hubs for education, professional development, and community engagement. In many communities, the local library also serves as an after-school haven and the access point to technology for young and old. With programming that fosters creativity, innovation, and dialogue, libraries across Rhode Island remain a home for knowledge and meaningful connection.
• Social Services:
  • We see and support the often-invisible heroes in our communities, whose efforts are providing our most vulnerable and marginalized populations with food, shelter, education, job training, and more. We are committed to keeping these essential agencies and organizations strong.
• Youth Services:
  • The Champlin family recognized the importance of investing in the young—the future leaders of industry, community, and government. From Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCAs to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, summer camps, and career and leadership development, supporting the organizations that help them to develop physically and mentally is a cornerstone of the Foundation.
• Welfare of Animals:
  • Sadly, animals have the same ability to suffer as humans. Our support of well-established regional organizations that offer care, adoption services, medical treatment, and more helps ensure that more animals across the state are healthy, well-nourished, and free from distress.

Leona Gruber Trust Grant

The Leona Gruber Trust was established under the Last Will and Testament of Leona Gruber. Mrs. Gruber’s wishes were for her residuary estate to be held in a perpetual trust, and for the income of the trust to be paid to charitable organizations serving the benefit of mankind. Born in 1913, Mrs. Gruber was a native of Allentown, and passed away in 1995.

The Leona Gruber Trust awards grants to organizations that provide the most benefit to humanity.

Mission

To support organizations in the Lehigh County and Northampton County areas of Pennnsylvania that provide the most benefit to humanity such as hospitals and educational institutions.

Our mission is to foster the science and art of natural resource conservation.

The Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) is the premier international organization for professionals who practice and advance the science and art of natural resource conservation. We believe sustainable land and water management is essential to the continued security of the earth and its people. Our goal is to cultivate an organization of informed, dynamic individuals whose contributions create a bright future for agriculture, the environment, and society.

Who We Are

Our community of more than 2,000 conservation leaders represents nearly every academic discipline and many different public, private, and nonprofit institutions around the world. Our skilled members include researchers, administrators, planners, policymakers, technical advisors, teachers, students, farmers, and ranchers, all who share the common goal of building a more sustainable future.

SWCS members lead at the chapter level to tackle critical conservation issues of regional and local significance. Chapter events and initiatives engage members in field tours and other learning opportunities, provide a network of experts in the area, and educate local leaders regarding environmental issues in their communities. Members of student chapters on university campuses participate in activities that foster their interests in natural resource management and prepare them for successful professional careers.

Conservation Innovation Award

The Conservation Innovation Award recognizes an outstanding activity, product, or service by a group, business firm, corporation, or organization that promotes the conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources.

Criteria:

• The effort or activity is in line with the SWCS mission
• The effort or activity contributed to bringing about better conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources and/or better understanding of natural resource conservation issues
• The effort or activity is a result of an organized program and may include the activity of an agency or government
• The effort or activity had an effect over a large area, at least a large part of a state or province, or parts of several states or provinces
• The principal effect of the effort or activity was directed to other than professional conservationists

Community Connections

A person’s health is ultimately driven by the individual and his or her community, while decisions made at the federal, state, and county level affect the health care system.

HealthPath has chosen to support community residents as they identify the changes they want to see and work to reach their goals. We will be awarding two-year grants to organizations working to achieve results in the areas of Age-Friendly Communities, Oral Health, and Healthy Ohioans.

What Will We Fund

We are interested in community-driven projects that address our result areas. Proposed projects should respond to the needs of the community, and fall within one of the following strategies:

Funding

HealthPath issues a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Community Connections Grants which provides $8,000 for general operating support for organizations doing work in HealthPath’s focus areas. We also fund deep, concentrated investments which provides opportunities for multi-year funding. Requests for Proposals for deep, concentrated investments are issued approximately every three years. HealthPath may also make smaller grants to fund events or other projects aligned with our three focus areas.

Frank S. Flowers Charitable Trust

The Frank S. Flowers Charitable Trust was created under Mr. Flowers’ Last Will and Testament following his death in 1979. Mr. Flowers was a successful banker and a resident of Woodbury, New Jersey. His primary philanthropic goal was to support and improve Gloucester County and organizations in which he was involved during his life. The Trust provides grants to educational, youth, health-related, and religious organizations that are primarily located in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

Established in 1992, the Posey County Community Foundation is one of over 800 community foundations in the United States today. The Community Foundation is a charitable resource devoted to our local community. We help people make meaningful gifts that improve life in Posey County, Indiana today and for generations to come.

We are part of the Community Foundation Alliance (The Alliance), a network of nine community foundations serving counties in southwestern Indiana. The Alliance, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, provides management and administrative expertise to county-wide community foundations, empowering each to promote philanthropy, build endowments, and improve well-being in our local community.
