MNRS Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an MNRS member who has significantly advanced the profession of nursing either through an extensive program of research or creation of environments where research can flourish, and whose sustained leadership and distinguished career yielded outstanding and noteworthy accomplishments. 

The JBF Do Good Grant, established by the Joe Burrow Foundation, aims to support innovative projects that assist underprivileged children, particularly those facing mental health challenges and food insecurity. Eligible organizations include nonprofits and public charities, with proposals up to $10,000 considered. The foundation encourages creative solutions that foster lasting impacts within communities in Greater Cincinnati and Baton Rouge. By fostering these initiatives, the foundation continues Joe Burrow's commitment to community service and social responsibility.

Mission: To continually improve the Marion Area community through philanthropy, leadership and civic engagement. Judge Thomas K. Jenkins ScholarshipIn 2009, the late Judge Thomas K. Jenkins (1937-2025) created this fund at Marion Community Foundation to provide resources in perpetuity for Marion area students pursuing degrees and careers in law. The Jenkins scholarship makes awards to graduates of Marion County high schools pursing a degree in law at any accredited college or university, with special consideration given to applicants attending Tom’s alma mater, Ohio Northern University School of Law.

The Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) initiative, led by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services, aims to create safer communities by reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The Excellence in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Award

The purpose of the Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award is to recognize the contribution of a member who has demonstrated outstanding commitment and made significant contributions to advance equitable health outcomes and reduce health disparities through research, which has enhanced the science and practice of nursing in the MNRS region.  

The National Sea Grant Law Center is inviting proposals for the Coastal Resilience Program to research laws and policies addressing coastal resilience challenges such as sea level rise and flooding. With a funding cap of $150,000 over two years, this initiative aims to assess the effectiveness of existing policies and promote informed decision-making in coastal management. Up to two projects will be selected for funding, supporting innovative solutions to enhance community resilience against environmental threats.

Who is OCJS

The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) is a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. By statute, OCJS is the lead justice planning and assistance office for Ohio, administering millions of dollars in state and federal criminal justice funding every year. OCJS also evaluates programs and products, develops training, resources, and best practices for criminal justice professionals and communities. OCJS has been designated by Governor Mike DeWine to administer the FY 2025, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program for State Prisoners (RSAT). The RSAT funds are used to support treatment services in addition to the services the prison or jail is already required to provide.

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Grant Program Request For Proposals

The goal of the RSAT Program is to prepare individuals for reintegration into communities by delivering community-based treatment and other broad-based aftercare services. RSAT assists states and units of local government in developing and implementing residential substance abuse treatment programs within state correctional facilities, local correctional, detention facilities, and juvenile detention centers where inmates are incarcerated for a period of time sufficient to permit substance abuse treatment. OCJS recommends applicants target high-risk offenders as program participants. RSAT funds may be used to implement four types of programs: residential, jail-based, aftercare, and jail-based pretrial SUD treatment programs. A minimum of 10 percent of Ohio’s RSAT allocation must be available for local correctional and detention facilities for any of the three following program areas:

Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment

• Engage participants for a period between six (6) and 12 months.
• Establish a therapeutic community (i.e., program participants are set apart from the general population). Therapeutic Communities are residential treatment facilities that are set apart from the general correctional population in either a separate facility or a dedicated housing unit that is used exclusively for RSAT and/or other SUD treatment programs.
• Focus on the inmate’s substance use diagnosis and addiction-related needs.
• Develop the inmate’s cognitive, behavioral, social, vocational, and other skills necessary to solve the substance use and related problems.
• Require urinalysis and/or other proven reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing for program participants, including both periodic and random testing, and for former participants while they remain in the custody of the state or local government.
• Prepare participants for successful community reintegration, including post-release referral to appropriate
• evidence-based aftercare treatment and service providers that support the use of medication-assisted treatment.

Jail-Based Substance Use Disorder Treatment

• Engage participants for at least three (3) months.
• Focus on inmate’s substance use diagnosis and addiction-related needs.
• Develop the inmate’s cognitive, behavioral, social, vocational, and other skills to solve the substance use and related problems.
• Require urinalysis and/or other proven reliable forms of drug and alcohol testing for program participants, including both periodic and random testing, and for former participants while they remain in the custody of the state or local government.
• Prepare participants for successful community reintegration, including post-release referral to appropriate evidence-based aftercare treatment and service providers that support the use of medication-assisted treatment.
• Jails that do not have the capacity to establish a therapeutic community are encouraged to group RSAT program participants within the general correction setting.

Aftercare

• Projects must provide aftercare services. These services must involve coordination between the correctional treatment program and other social service and rehabilitation programs, such as education and job training, parole supervision, halfway houses, self-help, and peer group programs. To qualify as an aftercare program, the head of the substance abuse treatment program must work in conjunction with state and local authorities and organizations involved in substance abuse treatment to assist in the placement of program participants into community substance abuse treatment facilities on release
• Jail-based pretrial SUD treatment programs
• Projects that initiate or continue evidence-based SUD treatment programs, including medication-assisted treatment, in pretrial populations during their confinement and/or foster connections to SUD treatment in the community upon pretrial release. Programs supporting pre-trial populations do not need to meet above criteria for jail-based residential SUD treatment programs.

The North Central Branch John Henry Comstock Award recognizes one graduate student from each of the Entomological Society of America's six branches. This award promotes graduate-level entomology and encourages attendance at the ESA Annual Meeting. Benefits include an all-expense-paid trip to the national meeting, a $500 cash prize, and a certificate presented during the meeting. Eligibility includes current enrollment in a graduate entomology program or recent graduation.

Erwin & Katherine Geis Scholarship Fund

Established by the Geis family to provide scholarships for Geis Companies employees and their children, as well as the children of the company's subcontractors and vendors. Wild Eagle and Metropolitan at The 9 employees and their children are also eligible.

• $5,000 per year each for seven college students (up to $5,000/$2,000 based on financial need); $2,000 per year each for two private or tuition-based high school students.

This initiative emphasizes innovative solutions and measurable outcomes, targeting both national and local programs, particularly in states with pressing health disparities.

NCRC Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) - Housing Counseling Services

The Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) empowers NCRC network members to level up established service lines.

The Housing Counseling Services series within FEF supports HUD-approved housing counseling agencies in driving homeownership, such as through pre-purchase counseling. In addition, the program builds agency knowledge on heirs’ property challenges to better equip first-time and low-income homebuying households with the know-how to retain intergenerational wealth.

In doing so, FEF-HCS aims to help underserved families begin their homeownership journey, with an additional goal of ensuring foresight into the long-term future of their home purchase.

The FEF-HCS series is funded in partnership with Key Bank and HSBC, and targets communities within the Key Bank and HSBC branch footprints.

Through these partnerships, $2.5 million in Key Bank geographies and $1.5 million in HSBC geographies has been allocated for the subgrants for direct-to-client housing counseling services that will be awarded in three rounds in the FEF-HCS track.

Funding Support

Awardee agencies will receive subgrants to support their housing counseling services to clients.

Knowledge Building

Awardee agencies will attend a training session on heirs’ property challenges and best practices, hosted by NCRC National Training Academy. Bolstering counselor knowledge on this topic will ensure that your agency is not only serving clients in their personal wealth-building journey now, but also helping them preserve that wealth in generations to come.

The Baltimore Life Community Grants Program, established by the Baltimore Life Foundation, awards grants of up to $500 to nonprofit organizations in various states, including Maryland and Virginia. This initiative aims to enhance community quality of life through projects that focus on family safety and community enhancement. Eligible applicants must be IRS-certified 501(c)(3) organizations, with priority given to those with volunteer support. This program reflects Baltimore Life's commitment to corporate citizenship and community involvement.

The Community Fund Ohio grant program provides financial support to individuals with disabilities living in Ohio and to nonprofit organizations serving this community. Applications can be submitted anytime, with biannual reviews culminating on June 30 and December 15. Grants are designated to meet specific needs related to disabilities and enhance community access. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply, especially during the first quarter for summer camp funding, with decisions made within 45 days after submission.

The Community Fund Ohio - Individual Grant provides financial support to Ohio residents with disabilities and nonprofits serving them. This program offers two types of grants: the Special Needs Grant with Financial Hardship, which assists those receiving SSI or Medicaid, and the Special Needs Grant for those not receiving these benefits. Applications are accepted year-round, with quarterly deadlines for review, aimed at enhancing community access and addressing specific disability-related needs.

The EGLS Doc Brown Young Investigator Award, presented by the American Physical Society, recognizes exceptional young faculty in physics. Awardees receive a cash prize and commendation at the annual spring meeting. Eligible nominees include PhD lecturers and tenure-track faculty who are APS members in the EGLS region and within six years of their appointment. Nomination requires endorsement from a tenured faculty member and attendance at the meeting where the award is presented.

The Ohio Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship, established by the AMA Foundation, aims to support future physician leaders through substantial tuition assistance. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school, entering their final year, and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship fosters a commitment to health equity and encourages involvement in organized medicine. Applications are typically due in the first quarter of each year, ensuring that funds are directed towards tuition costs only.

The Mylander Foundation Grant, established in 1987, supports charitable, educational, and civic organizations in Erie County, Ohio. It mandates annual grants to seven key organizations while also distributing additional funds to others twice a year. Grants typically start at $1,000 and focus on projects benefiting Ohio residents. Eligible applicants include IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organizations, with considerations for projects that significantly impact community goals.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant for schools to implement the PLTW Biomedical Science program for the 2026-2029 academic years. Eligible schools can receive up to $14,000 to cover participation fees and training costs. This grant encourages public, private, and charter schools across the U.S. to enhance their science curriculum, supporting students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Schools must commit to offering specific courses during the grant period to qualify for funding.

The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation provides grants to recognize and support outstanding PK-12 teachers in Ohio's public schools. With a maximum grant size of $3,000, the foundation encourages innovative classroom projects that foster deep learning, critical thinking, and creativity. However, proposals from new applicants will not be accepted during the August and October 2025 grant cycles as the foundation prepares for a new strategic vision set to launch in January 2026.

Ohio Department of Health

The Ohio Department of Health’s mission is advancing the health and well-being of all Ohioans by transforming the state’s public health system through unique partnerships and funding streams; addressing the community conditions and inequities that lead to disparities in health outcomes; and implementing data-driven, evidence-based solutions.

Save Our Sight (SV27) Continuation Solicitation

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Bureau of Child and Family Health announces the availability of grant funds.

Number of Grants and Funds Available

State funds for the Save Our Sight Program are generated by donations. Motor vehicle owners in Ohio are asked to donate to the Save Our Sight Fund when they register their vehicles and/or renew license plates. This program is completely funded by the Save Our Sight Fund (State funds). Only the previously awarded applicant during the competitive application may apply for continuation funding for the awarded component.

No grant award will be issued for less than $30,000. The minimum amount is exclusive of any required matching amounts and represents only ODH funds granted. Applications submitted for less than the minimum amount will not be considered for review.

The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program in Ohio offers funding and support for non-infrastructure projects aimed at encouraging K-12 students to walk or bike to school. With an annual budget of $5 million, it funds activities like education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation. Reimbursement for eligible costs can reach up to $120,000 for two-year projects, promoting safety and accessibility around schools. This initiative helps foster healthier transportation choices for students.

The CHS Foundation supports initiatives that benefit the agriculture industry, focusing on 501c3 organizations within specific states. Their funding is aimed at empowering cooperative growth and sustainable practices. Local projects may also be eligible through the CHS Seeds for Stewardship program. However, funding is not available for individuals, sports teams, or religious groups, ensuring that the support remains directed towards community and cooperative development.
