The Otter Tail Corporation Foundation Grant Program focuses on supporting 501(c)(3) organizations in communities across Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Priorities include early childhood education, health services for families in need, community development, and environmental sustainability. While the 2025 budget is fully allocated, they encourage applications for 2026, emphasizing collaborative projects that create measurable impacts.

The Community Action Grant by the Black Hills Area Community Foundation offers two funding opportunities: $50,000 and $20,000. The $20,000 grant is specifically aimed at nonprofit endowment holders in the Black Hills area, encouraging creative and sustainable community projects. Applications for the $20,000 grant open on June 1, and the selection process is conducted by the BHACF Grants Committee after the deadline. As of 2026, Black Hills Area Community Foundation manages $100 million in assets and has invested more than $45 million in grants and scholarships since its establishment in 2006.

Community Action Grant

The Community Action Grant is offered to nonprofit endowment holders that employ creative ideas, leverage community partnerships and focus on sustainable practices.

There are two types: Community Action Grant ($50,000); and Community Action Grant ($20,000)

Community Action Grant ($50,000)

The Community Action Grant is available to nonprofits holding an agency endowment fund at the Black Hills Area Community Foundation. This grant will be awarded to an organization employing creative ideas, leveraging community partnerships, and focusing on sustainable practices.  

The Francis Grants, established by Catholic Extension, offer funding for significant events in poor mission dioceses, such as the ordination of new Bishops, anniversaries, or papal visits. These grants also support educational endeavors for Bishops. Named in honor of Francis Clement Kelly, Francis Cardinal George OMI, and Pope Francis, the program aims to strengthen the Catholic faith across the U.S. Since 1905, Catholic Extension has invested over $500 million to assist communities in need.

The John T. Vucurevich Foundation Grant focuses on supporting low-income families by addressing essential needs such as food access, health services, and transportation. The foundation aims to foster community collaboration and strategic partnerships to enhance the well-being of families and children in the Rapid City Area. Grant applications are accepted for projects that demonstrate community need and secure additional funding, with a commitment to transparent and engaged grantmaking.

Local CSA Grants:

The SDCF partners with local communities to provide them with a community savings account (CSA). A CSA allows a community to invest and grow its endowment with the help of the SDCF, while the local board raises money and selects grant recipients in the community.

Our CSA partners fund basic needs and enhance the quality of life within a community in South Dakota. With our careful investment, a town’s CSA will continue to grow and support annual awards in perpetuity ensuring the town continues to thrive and prosper for years to come.

Fall River Area Fund Grant

Founded in 1998, the First Interstate Fall River Area Foundation has given back more than $106,000 to Hot Springs and the Fall River area since inception. In 2009, their board accepted a challenge from the First Interstate BankSystems Foundation and the South Dakota Community Foundation, to raise $10,000 each year for five years. In return, the FIB Foundation would contribute $10,000 each year, and the South Dakota Community Foundation would contribute $25,000 at the end of the challenge. The challenge was met in 2014, and the fund continues to grow thanks to very supportive donors.

The Catholic School Leadership Development Grant Program aims to cultivate and retain promising leaders within the Catholic school system. In partnership with Loyola Marymount University, this initiative offers a graduate-level online Certificate in Catholic School Administration, covering 80% of tuition costs and providing funding for essential travel. The one-year program focuses on mission effectiveness, operational management, and instructional leadership, requiring participants to serve two years in their diocese post-completion, thereby enhancing local educational leadership.

The Black Hills Charitable Giving Program supports community growth by providing sponsorships and donations to eligible organizations. Focused on thriving communities, conservation, and nurturing future leaders, it invites applications from 501(c)(3) organizations and schools. Funding priorities include critical needs like food security and education, while requests benefiting individuals or political causes are generally not funded. Applications are accepted year-round, with decisions made within 120 days.

Basin Electric Power Cooperative's Charitable Giving Program focuses on supporting communities across its nine-state service territory. The program reviews funding requests periodically and allocates donations to various categories, including education, health services, civic betterment, and cultural initiatives. Additionally, it offers matching funds for member donations and contributes surplus office equipment to organizations in need. This commitment to community growth and sustainability reflects Basin Electric's mission to enhance the well-being of its members.

The Margaret Warren & Grace Lemley Animal Welfare Grant honors the legacy of Maggie Warren, a dedicated advocate for animal welfare. This grant aims to support organizations in the Black Hills area that focus on improving animal welfare, including new programs, operational expenses, and small capital improvements. Eligible applicants include IRS 501(c)3 charities and schools. Grants will not support capital campaigns or organizations that do not adhere to a no-kill policy.

Catholic Extension's Enhancing Pastoral and Social Ministry Grants aim to empower the church to broaden its outreach and foster societal transformation through targeted pastoral and social initiatives. This program supports specific elements of the church's ministerial efforts, including funding for catechetical resources, marriage and family ministries, and social outreach for vulnerable populations. By investing in these areas, Catholic Extension seeks to enhance the church's role in communities, especially following disasters.

The Building Capacity Grants by Catholic Extension aim to enhance the financial and operational capabilities of dioceses. This initiative focuses on funding projects that promote efficiency, financial stability, and effective fiscal management, ultimately fostering a self-sustaining community. Eligible programs include fundraising development initiatives and operational assessments, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently while supporting professional development for church leadership. This grant empowers dioceses to strengthen their foundations for future growth.

The Engaging Young Catholics Grants aim to support ministries that provide faith formation to children, teens, young adults, and families. By focusing on the pastoral needs of young Catholics, the program enhances community vibrancy and fosters new leadership within the church. Catholic Extension prioritizes operational support and seed funding for initiatives that develop youth and young adult ministries, ensuring that dioceses can effectively reach and engage younger generations in their faith.

The Building Leaders Grants by Catholic Extension aim to enhance the recruitment, education, and ongoing formation of church leaders. This initiative provides critical funding for the professional development of both ordained and lay leaders in mission dioceses. By fostering partnerships with various organizations, it addresses the need for trained ministers and supports various funding areas, including seminarian sponsorship and diaconate formation, ensuring a robust future for church leadership.

The Building Foundation Grants by Catholic Extension aim to support essential pastoral and administrative functions in under-resourced communities. These grants provide salary subsidies and operational funding to ordained, religious, and lay ministers, ensuring access to Catholic services. Prioritizing areas with significant financial need, this initiative seeks to sustain the church's presence where it is most critical, enabling continued ministry and outreach for those who may otherwise be underserved.

Catholic Extension provides essential funding to support the construction, expansion, or renovation of churches and community facilities. This initiative aims to meet the facility needs of under-resourced Catholic dioceses across the U.S. By focusing on active projects, Catholic Extension ensures that communities can enhance their worship spaces and support local ministries, ultimately fostering a stronger church community. Funding is available for both minor and major requests, with an emphasis on urgent needs and robust funding strategies.

The National Institutes on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) is inviting applications for a Coordinating Center for the National Human Ear Resource Network. This initiative aims to enhance research on auditory and vestibular disorders by providing essential resources, facilitating collaboration among laboratories, and promoting the use of human ear tissues in studies. The Center will play a pivotal role in coordinating activities, sharing updates with the scientific community, and supporting various research efforts across the nation.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) invites proposals for Specialized Alcohol Research Centers (P50) to enhance interdisciplinary research on alcohol misuse and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). These centers aim to foster collaboration among researchers, focusing on innovative topics related to alcohol's effects on health across the lifespan. The program supports the development of research methodologies and mentorship for young investigators, addressing the complex challenges posed by alcohol misuse in society.

Tulsa Community Foundation

TCF is among the nation’s largest community foundations, managing over $6 billion in assets and distributing $300 million or more each year to charities across northeastern Oklahoma and the United States. Established in 1998, TCF assists nonprofit agencies, corporations, individuals and families with flexible charitable giving solutions. TCF delivers easy, low-cost solutions to benefit the community and region.   

Scholarships

Tulsa Community Foundation maintains more than forty scholarship funds, assisting students locally and nationally. The diversity of eligibility criteria for each fund reflects the variety of donor motivations to create or support scholarship funds.

Annually, TCF distributes funds to assist hundreds of students with educational expenses at colleges, universities, vocational-technical schools, and primary and secondary schools.

Invited Scholars Fund

The Invited Scholars Award supports students enrolled in undergraduate, trade or vocational programs at U.S. institutions. 

The ORACLE 3C initiative focuses on advancing research into chronic conditions, coinfections, and comorbidities related to HIV. It aims to support early-career investigators through innovative approaches that diverge from existing methodologies. Emphasizing pediatric and maternal health, this funding opportunity encourages interdisciplinary research to better understand HIV-specific pathways and develop effective preventive and therapeutic strategies, addressing a significant public health concern.

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is launching a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aimed at enhancing genomic research through the development and distribution of high-value resources. This initiative encourages collaborative efforts in genomic resource development and the integration of data science in clinical applications. While applications are not currently being accepted, prospective applicants are urged to prepare meaningful collaborations and projects ahead of the formal solicitation.

The Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) aims to cultivate skilled clinician-scientist leaders to meet the nation's biomedical research demands. It supports domestic organizations in developing dual-degree training that integrates clinical and research education, leading to both a clinical degree (e.g., M.D., D.O.) and a Ph.D. Through comprehensive mentoring and career development, MSTP prepares trainees for impactful careers in health-related research, ensuring a robust pipeline of qualified scientists.

The Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) program supports federally-recognized American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes and organizations in advancing health-related research. It aims to enhance research careers and infrastructure through a competitive application process. Funded by the US Dept. of Health & Human Services, this initiative invites eligible entities to apply, ensuring that only high-quality proposals undergo peer review for potential funding.
