Who We Are

Founded in 1996, the Community Foundation of South Georgia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to making South Georgia a better place to live through effective philanthropy. We help individuals, families, nonprofit organizations and businesses establish and manage charitable funds that carry out their philanthropic interests. Serving a geographic area of 35 counties in South Georgia, we facilitate our donors’ charitable plans and goals by creating custom designed funds that meet their specific interests and ensure solid financial management and administration for each fund. 

Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association Scholarship

For dental hygiene students and Registered Dental Hygienists who are enrolled in an accredited Dental Hygiene School in Georgia, reside in the state of Georgia and intend to practice in Georgia for two years following graduation. Applicants must have completed at least one quarter or semester of study in the dental hygiene curriculum and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

Harrison Hooks Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior from a high school located in Thomas County, Georgia who is enrolled in or intends on enrolling in a college or university located in the state of Georgia and has attained at least a 3.0 GPA in high school. The award is based on Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Community Service and Financial Need.

Georgia high school seniors pursuing higher education and committed to community service can access funding through the Service Above Self Presidents' Scholarship, awarding US $3,000. Administered by North Georgia Community Foundation, it supports U.S. citizens residing in Forsyth County graduating from Forsyth Central or North Forsyth High School who will attend a Georgia public college or university.

Full-time rising junior or senior college students in Georgia pursuing an accounting degree can receive US $1,000 in higher education support through the Rushton Educational Scholarship. North Georgia Community Foundation provides these one-time awards, with preference for University of North Georgia students who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and show extracurricular involvement.

Graduating high school seniors or GED recipients in Hall, Gwinnett, or DeKalb Counties in Georgia can apply for the Russell and Sandra Davis Scholarship, awarding US $1,000 annually for higher education. Funded by the North Georgia Community Foundation, this scholarship supports full-time study at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational schools for up to four years.

Georgia higher education students in social work or mental health-related majors can access funding through the Ryan B. Joiner Memorial Scholarship, a program of North Georgia Community Foundation. Rising juniors and seniors at specified Georgia universities may receive a one-time US $3,000 award based on financial need, GPA, and service-focused activities.

Full-time rising junior or senior engineering students at Georgia colleges and universities can apply for the Siamak Yari Engineering Scholarship, a one-time US $2,000 award for Georgia residents. Offered by the North Georgia Community Foundation, it prioritizes financial need, minimum 3.0 GPA, and values community service, with preference for immigrant or minority students.

Students with family incomes of $60,000 or less in Georgia seeking to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities can receive scholarship support for higher education. With a mission to build a thriving and inclusive community, Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee offers the LadyAID Scholarship Fund for eligible HBCU students connected to Georgia or Tennessee.

Graduating high school seniors in Jackson County, Georgia pursuing higher education can apply for the TD Automotive Compressor Georgia (TACG) Community Scholarship, awarding US $1,500 and renewable up to three additional years. Administered by North Georgia Community Foundation, it supports full-time study at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational schools for students maintaining a 2.5 GPA.

Foothills Community Foundation

In 1999, the founding members of Foothills Community Foundation shared a vision for our community. They focused their time, resources, and mission to promote philanthropy and provide a catalyst for giving in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties.

Today, our leaders share the same vision. We work to inspire participation in philanthropy and retain the charitable wealth in our community to positively impact lives now and for future generations.

Scholarships

Several different scholarship funds have been established by individuals, companies, and organizations wanting to assist individuals with furthering their education. All qualified applicants will be graduating high school seniors except for renewal options specifically noted. Qualifying criteria are specific to each individual scholarship.

Irvin Cauthen Scholarship

Seniors from Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens County who plan to major in business or engineering at Anderson University, Florida State University, Clemson University or Georgia Tech are qualified. This scholarship is renewable.

Scholarship funds are awarded for one academic year. A renewal application is required for each academic year with demonstration of being in good standing at their school of choice.

Atlanta college freshmen studying English, communications, journalism, or related fields at Clark Atlanta, Spelman, Morehouse, or Morris Brown can receive need-based higher education support through the WXIA TV11 Community Service Scholarship in Georgia. With a mission to support minority education, United Negro College Fund partners with WXIA-TV to honor strong community service and demonstrated financial need.

Georgia's HOPE Grant, established by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, provides financial assistance to Georgia residents pursuing a certificate or diploma at eligible colleges. The program covers a portion of tuition and has specific limits on paid hours. To qualify, students must meet citizenship, residency, and academic standards, among other requirements. The HOPE Grant aims to ensure access to postsecondary education, supporting students in their academic endeavors while adhering to state guidelines.

The Georgia Military College (GMC) State Service Scholarship Loan offers a service cancelable loan program to strengthen Georgia's National Guard. Created by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, it provides outstanding students with a two-year scholarship loan, covering tuition, fees, and more. To qualify, students must serve in the National Guard for four years, ensuring they meet residency, academic, and moral character requirements. This initiative supports both education and military service commitment.

The Georgia College Completion Grant (GCCG) is designed to assist eligible students at postsecondary institutions in Georgia facing a financial aid gap. To qualify, students must meet specific credit hour requirements and have an outstanding balance for direct costs. This grant aims to support those enrolled in two-year or four-year programs and ensures that financial barriers do not hinder educational progress. Applications are accepted until the last day of the school term or withdrawal date.

The Georgia HERO Scholarship Program, managed by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, offers educational scholarships to members of the Georgia National Guard and U.S. Military Reservists who served in combat zones. It also extends benefits to their spouses and children, ensuring that those who have served the nation receive support for their educational goals. This initiative reflects Georgia's commitment to its military families and promotes access to higher education for those who have sacrificed for their country.

The Georgia HOPE Scholarship, established by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, is a merit-based award designed for Georgia residents who have achieved a minimum 3.00 GPA in high school and maintain the same in college. It provides financial assistance for undergraduate degrees at eligible institutions within Georgia, with specific limits on funding duration. The scholarship reflects Georgia's commitment to supporting higher education access for its citizens.

The Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Program (GTEG) provides financial assistance to Georgia residents attending eligible private colleges. Established by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, this non-need based program aims to enhance access to higher education by alleviating tuition costs. Eligible students must be U.S. citizens, legal Georgia residents, and enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program. The GTEG promotes educational opportunities and supports academic progress for students pursuing their college degrees.

The G. Michael Shoffner, M.D. Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, supports non-traditional medical students pursuing an M.D. or D.O. degree in Georgia. Inspired by Dr. Shoffner's legacy of compassion and dedication, the scholarship aims to promote lifelong learning and service. Awards typically range from $500 to $1,000, with one recipient annually. Eligible applicants must be at least 25 years old and have lived or worked in Central Georgia for at least three years.

With a mission to expand postsecondary access, Georgia Student Finance Commission provides Georgia higher education students with US $125 - US $3,750 toward certificate or diploma costs in approved, high-demand career fields. Georgia residents already receiving a HOPE Grant or Zell Miller Grant at eligible colleges or universities may qualify for this additional HOPE Career Grant support.

The L.B. Research and Education Foundation Grant Program supports U.S.-based nonprofits focusing on innovative education and health solutions for underserved populations. Eligible organizations can apply by submitting a 400-word concept paper, and selected applicants may receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $75,000. The Foundation prioritizes projects that foster critical thinking and creativity, address health disparities, and encourage collaboration. There are no application deadlines, promoting year-round engagement.

The Billy and Bobby Stevens Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia, offers $3,000 annually to students from Bibb, Houston, Crawford, Twiggs, Jones, Peach, or Monroe counties pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Eight awards are given each year, with two new recipients selected annually. Eligible candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution in Georgia. Preference is given to students from Upson County.

Graduating seniors from Hall County public high schools in Georgia seeking higher education and demonstrating financial need and academic merit can receive US $1,500 through the Xander Corso Memorial Scholarship. North Georgia Community Foundation supports students who embody service and strong character and who plan to attend an accredited University System of Georgia institution.

Graduating high school seniors and homeschooled students in Hall County, Georgia, needing help paying for college can apply for the William T. Carlisle Memorial Scholarship, awarding up to US $10,000 for accredited U.S. higher education. This need-based support from North Georgia Community Foundation aids college preparation and persistence for local students.

Graduating seniors from public high schools in Jackson County, Georgia, seeking help with higher education costs can receive renewable scholarships for accredited U.S. colleges, universities, or vocational schools. North Georgia Community Foundation’s Toyota Industries Compressor Parts America (TICA) Community Scholarship awards US $1,500, renewable up to three additional years for students maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA.

The Region IV Benny Bootle Memorial Scholarship offers a one-year financial award for undergraduate students in pre-engineering, engineering, or architecture within ASHRAE Region IV (North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia). Candidates must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and meet specific eligibility criteria, including affiliation with an ASHRAE student branch or an ABET-accredited program. This scholarship aims to support future leaders in the HVAC&R industry, promoting sustainability and innovation in engineering.

The Robert W. Woodruff Foundation focuses on enhancing the quality of life in Georgia through investments in education, health, and economic opportunities. They prioritize funding for higher education institutions in Georgia, aiming to improve access and foster innovation. The Foundation does not support K-12 education, athletic facilities, or endowments. Successful applicants typically exhibit strong leadership, sustainable operations, and measurable community impact, ensuring their initiatives align with the Foundation's mission.

The Lettie Pate Evans Foundation Grant Program primarily supports education and arts initiatives in Georgia, with occasional grants to Virginia institutions linked to Mrs. Evans. The foundation emphasizes community-driven projects with strong leadership, preferring to collaborate rather than serve as the sole funder. Grants are typically awarded for capital needs, historic preservation, and performing arts, targeting well-established organizations that demonstrate a proven track record of success and community support.
