Latinos Investing in the Future Together (LIFT): for nonprofits serving Northern Colorado Grant

The LIFT Fund was created to shift the narrative around Latino philanthropy in Weld County and Northern Colorado and to build a legacy of impact in the community. Latinos have long been leaders, organizers, and changemakers in Northern Colorado, often working behind the scenes to make a difference. This fund brings that collective investment into the light by providing mini-grants to local nonprofits advancing initiatives in: 

• Youth Engagement & Success 
• Economic Mobility and Small Business Support 
• Community-Led Research & Innovation  

Grant Amount:

• up to $5,000 (subject to change)

The LIFT Fund of Weld County will, in particular, look for:

• A project that drives meaningful change 
• Has measurable outcomes
• Partnership and volunteering opportunities
• Goal of program self-sufficiency
• Financial stability
• Opportunities to leverage funds

Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

If you receive an award, be sure to complete your scholarship acceptance form (online portal). Scholarship awards are paid directly to the academic institution by the end of August.

Jesus Romero Scholarship Fund

The Jesus Romero Scholarship Fund supports students of Hispanic or Latino heritage who are enrolled at Kishwaukee College.

Established in 2012, this endowed scholarship honors Jesus Romero, a proud Kishwaukee College alumnus who has raised tens of thousands of dollars through his annual Cinco de Mayo celebrations to help Hispanic students pursue college degrees.

Now held at DeKalb County Community Foundation, the Fund continues his legacy by helping students overcome financial barriers and achieve their educational dreams for years to come.

Fund the Dream Scholarship

The Fund the Dream Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 by the Hispanic Alliance, GA. The purpose of this scholarship is to ‘Build the Dream, One Graduate at a Time.’ Minority students from first-generation/low-income backgrounds face systemic roadblocks while navigating the college admissions process. Graduating seniors coming from low-income families are seven times more likely to drop out than those from families with higher income. In addition, 74% of Latino students enrolled in colleges and universities in the U.S. cut their education short due to the financial pressures of supporting their families. To help mitigate the educational opportunity gap and student debt crisis, the Hispanic Alliance Georgia Fund the Dream Scholarship will support one student who has huge aspirations for their life and is willing to work through anything to achieve them. This scholarship is funded by proceeds from the annual Latino Fest in Gainesville, Georgia and is part of our commitment to making academic and scholarship support more accessible for all students.

When choosing a recipient, the selection committee will take into consideration factors such as the applicant’s academic achievement, financial need, immigration status, volunteering efforts, future educational goals, and responses to essay question. Special consideration will be given to students participating in the Latino Youth Leadership Academy. The 2026 scholarship will be a one-time award of $1,500.

Rene Hernandez Scholarship Fund

Awards

• (1) $2,000.00

The Achille & Irene Despres, William & Andre Scholarship, offered by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, supports high school seniors of Mexican heritage from Kent or Ottawa counties. With a minimum GPA of 2.75, recipients can pursue higher education in Michigan. The scholarship aims to eliminate barriers to success, providing financial assistance for tuition, books, and living expenses, thereby fostering academic ambition and community growth in West Michigan.

The Adelante Fund

The Adelante Fund supports initiatives and organizations that benefit Latino communities in Stanislaus County. Grounded in resident-led decision making, the program is guided by a committee of Latino representatives who understand which investments will be most impactful in addressing the needs of their community.

Funding priorities for the 2026 grant cycle focus on:

• Services/programs that support migrant/immigrant families (including but not limited to legal aid support, farm workers, basic needs, etc.)
• Arts & Culture (including but not limited to cultural events and festivals, art classes, performing arts, etc.)

Up to $75,000 in grant funding will be awarded in the grant cycle. Funding requests may not exceed $10,000. If awarded, the award amount may vary. 

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers over 160 scholarships. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds. 

Scholarships are provided for one academic year and are not automatically renewed each year. You can reapply to our program every year you are going to attend college, and the application you submit that year will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

Heriberto Flores Scholarship Fund

Supporting Springfield Technical Community College and Holyoke Community College graduates of Puerto Rican ancestry from Hampden or Hampshire Counties who plan to attend Massachusetts institutions of higher education.

Latinos Count Scholarship

Scholarship eligibility requires students to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution of higher learning. All scholarships are for full-time students, unless otherwise noted. Renewable awards are for 4 years of undergraduate study and cannot be used for post graduate coursework; all awards are paid directly to the school or may be used for book reimbursement.

The HEEF: Hispanic Education Endowment Fund Scholarship provides academic financial support to US Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Dream Act/AB 540 students residing in Orange County, California. With awards starting at $2,500, this fund assists high school and community college transfers who demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll in a four-year college or university in Fall 2025. Additional donor-specific sub-funds offer varying amounts, enhancing accessibility to higher education.

The Institute for Cultural Initiatives Scholarship, managed by the Oregon Community Foundation, supports bi-lingual (Spanish/English) Latino students attending Oregon community colleges. This scholarship is designed for residents and graduates of Oregon high schools who enroll at least half-time. Award amounts vary, and prior recipients must reapply to renew their scholarships for up to four years. This initiative underscores the importance of education as a vital investment in Oregon's future.

The Hermann Colas, Jr. Legacy Scholarship provides $5,000 to Black and Latin(x) undergraduate students pursuing a 4-year degree in construction management, engineering, or architecture at Oregon institutions. Established in 2023, this scholarship honors Hermann Colas, Jr.'s legacy in enhancing community development and diversity in construction. Awardees will have opportunities for mentorship and career support, fostering positive impacts in their communities through building and design professions.

The La Plaza Scholarship, established in 1997 by the leaders of the Latinx and Hispanic community in Indiana, aims to support Latinx and Hispanic youth in their educational pursuits. Managed by the Central Indiana Community Foundation, this scholarship emphasizes financial need, determination, and a minimum GPA of 2.7. Preference is given to students identifying as Latinx or Hispanic, ensuring that the program nurtures a diverse and inclusive academic environment for future generations.

The Mexican Scholarship, established by the former Consulate of Mexico in Indianapolis, aims to support students of Mexican descent in pursuing higher education. Funded by the Central Indiana Community Foundation, this scholarship is open to Indiana residents enrolled in accredited colleges or vocational schools. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and preference is given to those of Mexican heritage. Award funds can be utilized for tuition, fees, and essential educational expenses.

The Long Foundation Grant aims to support Texas Hispanic youths by addressing the high school dropout rate and enhancing their economic and social potential. Through annual grants to nonprofits and educational institutions, the foundation seeks programs that promote caring adult relationships, safe spaces, health, and marketable skills. With a focus on the Austin Metropolitan area, at least 75% of beneficiaries must be Hispanic, ensuring inclusivity while prioritizing this demographic's needs.

The Juanita Sánchez Community Fund, established in 1992, supports Rhode Island's Latino community by providing grants to nonprofits that enhance the lives of Latinos. Grants typically range from $500 to $1,500 and can fund both new projects and improvements to ongoing initiatives. While translation and interpretation requests are deprioritized, projects serving the Latino community may be considered, even if based outside the state. Renewed support for the same project is rarely given.

The Hispanic Fund Grant, managed by the Community Foundation of Lorain County, aims to enhance socioeconomic and educational opportunities for the Hispanic community in Lorain County. It funds projects that address social issues, promote public safety, and improve educational outcomes. Eligible applicants must have IRS 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsor. The fund prioritizes innovative solutions to community challenges while excluding grants for membership fees, religious purposes, and capital support.

The Hispanic Impact Fund Grants, managed by the Austin Community Foundation, aim to enhance economic mobility for Hispanic Central Texans. This program focuses on funding organizations in key areas such as early childhood education, health and wellness, job skills, and leadership development. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations and government units within the Central Texas region. Preference is given to applicants reflecting the Latino community in their leadership and operations.

The Futuro Latino Fund Grant, administered by the Omaha Community Foundation, empowers Latino communities in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area by funding initiatives that enhance cultural enrichment, socioeconomic well-being, and civic participation. With an annual budget of up to $150,000, the grant supports diverse projects focusing on arts, youth, health, and organizational capacity. Applications from organizations prioritizing Latino representation are encouraged, promoting sustainable practices and collaboration to effectively address community needs.

The BRAVO Fund, established by The Community Foundation Boulder County, seeks to enhance the quality of life for Latino communities in Boulder County. This initiative promotes social justice, strengthens Latino leadership opportunities, and empowers individuals to engage in philanthropy for their communities. By raising funds and distributing grants, the BRAVO Fund aims to bridge gaps and foster resilience within diverse communities, ensuring that all residents benefit from enhanced social and economic opportunities.

The Deluxe Corporation Foundation's ERG Grant Program supports diverse and inclusive initiatives by empowering employee resource groups (ERGs) to partner with nonprofits addressing relevant social issues. Each of the ten ERGs will award a $25,000 grant to a selected organization, fostering community impact and collaboration. The foundation, established in 1954, has invested over $109 million in charitable causes, focusing on financial literacy, education, and community support to enhance lives and promote entrepreneurship.

The TCA Texas Arts Create 2 Grant, offered by the Texas Commission on the Arts, aims to support Established Minority Arts Organizations with budgets exceeding $50,000. This grant provides multi-year operational support, allowing organizations to apply for funding covering one year, with potential extension based on available funds. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt nonprofits and comply with various federal regulations. The program seeks to enhance the creative economy in Texas, fostering a diverse and innovative arts community.

The Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund Grant aims to enhance the capacity of community-based organizations led by people of color in New York City. Established with $2.5 million from the City Council, this fund supports organizations to address critical needs through various capacity-building projects. Eligible organizations can apply for funding ranging from $35,000 to $45,000 based on their budget size, with a focus on sustainable development and community engagement.

The Siembra Latinos Fund, initiated by local Latino leaders, aims to enhance the quality of life for the Latino community in Monterey County. The fund prioritizes economic mobility through leadership development, work experience, and educational support. Grants are available to 501(c)3 organizations and public agencies, promoting projects that foster community engagement and skills growth. Funded initiatives should align with the mission to create opportunities and improve livelihoods for Latino residents.

The CIELO Fund at the Inland Empire Community Foundation aims to uplift and invest in Latino-led initiatives in the Inland Empire. Launched in 2022, it reflects the region's growing Latino majority and addresses disparities in areas such as education, health, and economic mobility. The fund emphasizes equitable growth and community collaboration to foster a vibrant future for all residents. With a focus on leadership development and environmental equity, it champions the aspirations of the Latino community while tackling pressing local challenges.

The Latino Giving Circle Grant Program, facilitated by the Rochester Area Community Foundation, aims to empower the Latino community in the greater Rochester area. This initiative supports 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to reducing disparities and enhancing quality of life for Latinos. Preference is given to projects in Monroe County that align with the program's mission, fostering collaboration and meaningful impact within the community.
