Young Health Programme

The Young Health Programme (YHP) is a global disease prevention initiative, aiming to provide education for young people to feel empowered to make informed choices about their health and catalyse a global, youth-led advocacy movement.

The programme operates in over 40 countries and partners with more than 60 non-profit organisations, including UNICEF and Plan International. The YHP combines community programmes, research, advocacy, and the development of young leaders, with a focus on underserved communities.

Since its launch in 2010, the YHP has directly reached over 23 million young people, trained over 1 million, and engaged more than 23,000 AstraZeneca employees, who have volunteered their time with more than 140,000 hours.

The YHP aims to prevent the most common non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease, by addressing five main risk factors: tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, harmful use of alcohol, and air pollution. Additionally, the programme tackles climate-health impacts to build healthier communities, recognising, as projected in the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, that children born after 2010 will be the first generation to enter adulthood in a world where the average temperature will reach 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and are expected to experience a +2°C rise within their lifetime.1

AstraZeneca Young Health Programme Impact Fellowship 2026

AstraZeneca is looking for passionate, driven young leaders to join their 2026 Young Health Programme (YHP) Impact Fellowship. The Fellowship supports young advocates to create actionable change to: 

• Advance health equity – with a focus on acting early to prevent non-communicable diseases among young people, or supporting young people living with rare diseases.
• Take action on climate and nature – advocating for the mitigation of the harmful effects of climate change on the health and well-being of young people.
• Build health systems resilience – contributing to stronger health systems that prioritise earlier intervention to meet today’s needs and mitigate tomorrow’s disease burden.

Benefits

The selected Fellows will gain access to networks, funding and development opportunities, enabling them to drive a global health movement led by and for young people:

A fully-funded scholarship to attend the 2026 One Young World Summit in Cape Town, South Africa (3–6 November 2026) as well as access to the One Young World Ambassador Network and the Young Health Programme (YHP) Alumni group of other young changemakers working to improve youth health.

Structured learning and development offerings to enable them to scale their impact, including both self-directed and live learning. This includes access to the One Young World Academy, an award-winning mini-MBA programme, mentorship from AstraZeneca colleagues and professional training.

Each selected Fellow will receive a grant of either USD $10,000 or USD $50,000 (if selected as the Lead2030 winner** for Sustainable Development Goal 3, for which applicants will be automatically considered) from AstraZeneca, through their non-profit organisation. Fellows are expected to use the grant to implement a project focused on either (1) advancing health equity (2) taking action on climate and nature (3) building health systems resilience.

Youth-led climate justice and socio-environmental groups worldwide, including those in Mississippi, can apply for the Youth Climate Justice Fund to support organizing, advocacy, and community-based work. Grants from Climate Group offer up to US $40,000 for emerging or existing collectives focused on inclusive, non-partisan, and non-violent youth leadership and environmental justice efforts.

Graduate and undergraduate students focused on youth development and leadership can receive US $2,500 in scholarship support as emerging leaders. With a mission to uplift servant leaders, Marietta Kiwanis Foundation provides Cobb County, Georgia residents active in civic, nonprofit, educational, faith-based, arts, military, or justice organizations with funding that may benefit Mississippi scouting volunteers studying in Georgia.

Mississippi youth development and leadership groups can access funding through Community Foundation for Southwest Washington’s Maury and Betty Hull Endowed Scholarship, which supports higher education and career training. Graduates of Quillayute Valley or Cape Flattery school districts pursuing accredited colleges, universities, technical, or career schools may be eligible for awards starting at More than US $2,000.

Mississippi youth development and leadership organizations can access funding through Yellowstone Club Community Foundation for a summer outdoor adventure and service experience for one qualifying Big Sky high school student. Programs that work with student leaders, encourage volunteerism, and support teens passionate about the outdoors may be able to connect eligible students to this opportunity.

High school seniors, college, and non-traditional students pursuing criminal justice or first responder studies can receive scholarship support for 2- or 4-year U.S. programs. CommunityGiving provides Mississippi youth organizations and other groups focused on youth development and leadership with a scholarship opportunity their eligible members may use for higher education in public safety fields.

Young people ages 13 to 19 pursuing arts-focused summer enrichment can receive US $200 - US $800 to cover tuition, supplies, or related expenses through the Simple Gifts Fund, including youth in Mississippi who reside in the Berkshire Taconic region. Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation supports youth development and leadership through creative apprenticeships, internships, and arts exploration.

Nonprofit organizations running youth-focused programs and projects can apply for funding that primarily benefits large numbers of people in Whatcom County, including youth development and leadership activities. The Eleanor & Henry Jansen Foundation, supported by Chuckanut Health Foundation, considers project-based requests, occasionally overhead, and encourages applications with strong volunteer involvement and matching support.

Youth development and leadership organizations in Mississippi working with Native or Indigenous youth may be eligible to connect young people to the Center for Native American Youth’s national Champions for Change program. The Aspen Institute provides Indigenous youth ages 14–24 across the U.S. with leadership development, advocacy training, and a supportive peer network.

Youth-serving organizations and high schools in Mississippi focused on youth development and leadership may be eligible to participate in the Bezos Scholars Program, a yearlong leadership and civic engagement initiative. Mississippi youth development and STEM education nonprofits can access funding through AFL Global to support education, youth development, and adult life-enrichment programs. Grants back initiatives in STEM learning, healthy and engaged youth, and employment and self-sufficiency for adults, which may benefit scouting organizations running leadership or skills-based programs.

Students involved in youth leadership or community service in Mississippi can apply for Chick-fil-A’s Community Scholars awards of up to US $25,000 to support college, vocational, or graduate education. Eligible applicants are high school seniors, undergraduates, or graduate students in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada who meet GPA and full-time enrollment requirements.

Naomi Chazan Global Activism Fellowship

Want to travel to Israel/Palestine while advancing equality, democracy, and peace for all?

The New Israel Fund’s Naomi Chazan Global Activism Fellowship offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit Israel/Palestine, meet frontline Israeli and Palestinian activists, and learn about issues of war, peace, and inequality by seeing the reality on the ground. 

Fellows will visit Israel/Palestine on November 3-10, 2026.

This trip is a great opportunity to learn alongside peers and friends (ages 21 – 35). NIF is based on the simple idea that those of us who share a commitment to Israel/Palestine and to progressive values can join together to work for equality, freedom, and human rights. You will join a cohort of participants from the U.S. and Canada building relationships across borders to be sustained for years to come.

Following the trip, participants are expected to organize at least two NIF events in their home communities, with support from NIF staff. These events could look like a report-back highlighting the participants’ learnings from the trip, educational programs featuring NIF grantees/partners, or something else entirely that is tailored to the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual needs of the fellow’s communities.

The program is subsidized by generous donors in the NIF community. All “on-the-ground” costs—your hotel accommodation and almost all meals—will be covered by NIF. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own airfare and travel/health insurance. If the cost of airfare is a barrier for you, please apply anyway. Limited airfare subsidies may be available.

The Tribal Colleges Extension Program Special Emphasis (TCEP-SE) aims to enhance community engagement through pilot projects at 1994 Institutions, targeting issues like agricultural productivity, food systems, and public health. This program is open to a wide range of Tribal colleges and universities, promoting workforce development and youth involvement in agriculture. By addressing local needs, TCEP-SE fosters community vitality and prepares the next generation of Tribal agriculture leaders.

Sports Matter Mission

We believe that sports change lives. In addition to physical and mental health benefits, sports have the power to change our perspectives, our character and our communities for the better. This core belief has guided DICK’S Sporting Goods and The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation since the beginning – but not everyone has the same access to play. Through grants and other support, The DICK’S Foundation Sports Matter Program helps under-resourced 501c3 organizations, schools and community teams across all 50 states provide opportunities for youth to play sports.
