The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award

Each year, CSA travel funding in an amount up to $750 is available for a Midwest Region Student Member to present at the National Symposium of The Costume Society of America. Awards may be distributed among multiple student members.

CSX Charitable Investments offers the Pride in Service Grants to support organizations that honor and assist military members and first responders. Focus areas include safety, mental health, community bridging, workforce development, and addressing food insecurity. Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status, government entities, and educational institutions. Harry Bertram Reynolds Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in memory of Harry Bertram Reynolds to benefit a graduating senior from a High School in Jefferson County, Illinois.

The Gregory-Rye Scholarship Fund, established by the Southern Illinois Community Foundation, honors the legacy of Elmer Gregory and Leonard Rye. This scholarship aims to support Benton High School students pursuing higher education with awards of $10,000, distributed in four installments. With a minimum GPA of 2.00, this fund seeks to empower students to achieve their educational and career dreams, reflecting the values of philanthropy and community support in southern Illinois.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing dietetics. Applicants complete a single application to be considered for multiple scholarships ranging from $500 to $25,000. Eligibility includes enrollment in an ACEND-accredited program and various special criteria. This initiative supports students from diverse backgrounds, encouraging future professionals in nutrition and dietetics. Membership in the Academy is recommended but not mandatory for application.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for dietetic interns, allowing a single application to apply for multiple awards. Scholarships range from $500 to $25,000, with eligibility for interns enrolled through June 30, 2024, including those with off-cycle matches. Applicants should consider their career goals in areas like clinical dietetics, culinary arts, and nutrition education. Academy membership is encouraged but not required. The FKSI Scholarship Fund, managed by the Southern Illinois Community Foundation, aims to support high school graduates from Southern Illinois with $2,500 scholarships. This initiative focuses on empowering students who have faced significant hardships, such as losing parents or being in the foster care system. The fund encourages those pursuing careers in trades or technical fields and maintains a GPA requirement of 2.0 or higher, promoting educational opportunities for deserving youth.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources offers the Volunteer Fire Assistance Program to support rural fire departments by covering 50% of eligible project costs, up to $10,000. This grant aids in purchasing fire equipment, including radios and protective gear. Projects must be competitive, and funds can only be used for fire-related initiatives, excluding EMS and rescue services. The Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grants support music education initiatives in Illinois, primarily benefiting nonprofit organizations. Grants are awarded for specific projects, emphasizing collaboration and diverse funding, with a preference for local organizations. Applicants can reapply in subsequent cycles if not funded. The foundation prioritizes impactful projects that address unmet needs in music education, while ensuring that funds are not used for religious purposes, advertising, or political campaigns.

The Student Scholarship in Cardiovascular Surgery offers $2,000 to students conducting research in cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, or cardiovascular anesthesia. Recipients may also receive a $750 travel grant for attending the AHA's Scientific Sessions in November 2025. This program is designed for medical students and master's program participants in accredited institutions in the U.S. who are AHA members and engaged in cardiovascular research.

The External Collaborative Research Grants by Boehringer Ingelheim support academic and clinical scientists in proposing research studies. These grants facilitate collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, which may provide intellectual and financial support. Applicants must assume full responsibility for their research while complying with regulatory standards. The funding should cover research costs, excluding salary support for the collaborative partner. Interested investigators must apply online for consideration.

The Adult Volunteer Literacy Grant Program

The Adult Volunteer Literacy Grant Program provides funding for educational agencies to provide Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English language instruction to qualified individuals using trained unpaid volunteer tutors.

The grant applications are being offered in advance of the provision of the state budget. The Illinois State Library makes these grant applications available so that award notification may be released when legislative and gubernatorial approval of the appropriation is made. Obligations to fund this grant program will cease immediately without penalty or further payment being required if the Illinois General Assembly or the federal funding source fails to appropriate or otherwise make available sufficient funds. 

Funding

Public funds awarded under this grant range up to $105,000 with first year awards being modest until the project is securely established. Only one grant is allowed per agency.

The Arts Fund Grants provide vital support for emerging artists from Australia and the USA, facilitating their artistic development through grants of up to $5,000. This funding can be used for travel, living expenses, tuition, and other related costs. Eligible applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of either country and have a formal offer from an accredited institution. The program emphasizes merit-based opportunities across various artistic fields, fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.

Boat Access Area Development Program

The Boat Access Area Development (BAAD) Program provides financial assistance to local government agencies for the acquisition, construction, and expansion/rehabilitation, including necessary A/E services, of public boat and canoe access areas on Illinois' lakes and rivers. Eligible sites are limited to navigable public bodies of water. The program provides up to 100% of approved project construction costs and 90% of approved land acquisition costs. Grant awards are limited to a $200,000 maximum for motorized launch sites and $80,000 maximum for non-motorized launch sites.

Applications for grant assistance must be received by IDNR between the dates posted on the Notice of Funding Opportunity each fiscal year in which the program is active. Grant awards are typically announced the following spring. Revenue for this state funded program is derived from marine motor fuel tax and boat registration fees.

Examples of eligible project activities include:

• Water frontage land acquisition for public access areas; and
• New construction or renovation of
• Boat/canoe launching ramps and courtesy docks;
• Restrooms and security lighting;
• Parking areas, access roads and walkways; and
• Other boating related facilities deemed appropriate by IDNR.

The Rural Business Development Grants in Illinois aim to support small rural businesses with technical assistance and training. Eligible projects must benefit rural areas outside urbanized cities with populations over 50,000. While there is no maximum grant amount, priority is given to smaller requests. Funds can be used for a wide range of purposes, including training, land acquisition, and community economic development, fostering growth and sustainability in rural economies.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The Seabury Foundation's Family Grants provide essential funding for 501(c)(3) organizations invited by a Seabury Family sponsor. Eligible organizations can apply for grants up to $25,000 to support general operations or specific projects. Focus areas include academic support, arts enrichment, lifelong learning, environmental sustainability, and wellness. Organizations with annual operating expenses exceeding $2.5 million may only seek project support. Note that after three years of funding within four years, organizations must wait three years before reapplying.
