Friends of NRA is the National Rifle Association’s premier fundraising program, supporting the future of shooting sports. Since day one, Friends of NRA has been a 100% grassroots effort fueled by a united front to secure the Second Amendment and raise money for the shooting sports.

Committee volunteers are appointed to State Fund Committees to make recommendations for local grant funding in areas such as youth education, women-focused clinics, law enforcement training, hunter safety, range improvement, firearms and marksmanship training and safety. Recognizing the impact American youth has on the future of the shooting sports, State Fund Committees frequently recommend grants for youth programs, allocating the most significant portion of monies to this vital area.

Grant awards fund activities and support programs in the United States to promote firearms and hunting safety, to enhance marksmanship skills of those in the shooting sports, and to educate the public about firearms in their historic, technological and artistic context.

Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program - Florida

The Friends of NRA State Fund Grant Program provides supplies, equipment, and financial support to a variety of qualified groups and programs at the local level; geared towards youth, women, law enforcement, veterans, the disabled, and the general public, including:

• General shooting programs
• Competitive shooting
• Education, training and safety
• Hunting and conservation
• Community outreach
• Historical education

Grant funding must be used to further a charitable purpose as defined by the Internal Revenue Code under section 501(c)(3) and accompanying rules, regulations, and other IRS law and materials.

Residents, community leaders, and community or faith-based organizations in Florida’s Miami-Dade County can apply for Miami-Dade County’s Safe in the 305 microgrants, awarding US $500 - US $1,500 for neighborhood-centered projects. Funding can support gun violence prevention efforts through youth development, mental and emotional wellness, reentry support, and community revitalization activities.

Healthcare institutions and research-focused organizations in Florida working on gun violence or firearm suicide prevention can apply for Kaiser Permanente Advisory Services’ Center for Gun Violence Research and Education grants, offering up to US $300,000. Funding supports capacity-building and research on healthcare and clinical care models that reduce community gun violence, firearm suicide, and improve survivor care.

Nonprofit public charities with 501(c)(3) status working on national democracy, civil liberties, and gun violence prevention initiatives can apply for the Lisa & Douglas Goldman Fund’s invitation-only support. Projects must operate across multiple states, so Florida-focused gun violence prevention organizations with broader regional or national programs may be eligible after submitting a Letter of Inquiry.

Students in Florida who are at least 18, enrolled in high school, college, or graduate school, and personally impacted by gun violence can join a one-year Survivor Fellowship Program. Focused on advocacy and storytelling, Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund trains fellows to share their experiences and advance gun violence prevention nationwide.

Women nationally recognized for advancing shooting sports, firearms education, or Second Amendment advocacy may be eligible for this national Sybil Ludington Women’s Freedom Award, open to nominees from Florida and across the U.S. The NRA Foundation honors women whose volunteer leadership, public service, or lawful defensive firearm use has significant national impact.

Nonprofits, healthcare institutions, and research organizations working on firearm injury prevention and treatment, including those in Florida, can seek research capacity-building grants from Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Gun Violence Research and Education. Focused on healthcare-based strategies, funding up to US $100,000 supports developing and scaling clinical and health system interventions to prevent, treat, and heal firearm-related harms.

Healthcare institutions and research organizations in Florida working on gun violence prevention can access funding through Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Gun Violence Research and Education to pilot or expand evidence-informed clinical care models. Grants up to Up to US $250,000 support pilot or formative healthcare research addressing firearm violence or firearm suicide, with strong community engagement expected.

Research institutions and similar organizations working on gun violence prevention in Florida and nationwide can seek CDC support to rigorously evaluate strategies that reduce firearm-related injuries, deaths, and crime. With a mission to prevent injuries, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides up to US $650,000 for studies using existing or newly collected data, including intervention implementation.

In the wake of tragic mass events, such as shooting, speed matters. Our Rapid Response Grants provide expedited funding to victims and their families when time is of the essence. These grants ensure that families aren’t left waiting for critical support when they need it most.

The BJA FY 2026 Local Law Enforcement Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative aims to support law enforcement agencies in establishing and expanding Crime Gun Intelligence Centers (CGICs). This initiative encourages interagency collaboration for the effective management and analysis of crime gun evidence, enhancing the ability to swiftly identify crime guns and their sources. In partnership with the ATF, this program seeks to reduce firearm-related crime and improve prosecution outcomes.

The Preventing Violence Affecting Young Lives (PREVAYL 2.0) initiative aims to provide multiyear funding for state and local health departments to implement violence prevention strategies for adolescents and young adults. Key focuses include enhancing data-driven decision-making, building capacity for evidence-based strategies, integrating youth mental health support, fostering multisector collaborations, and prioritizing the prevention of various forms of violence, ensuring comprehensive support for youth development.

Jewish community–focused 501(c)(3) public charities in Florida or working nationally on Jewish life and safety may be eligible for the Lisa & Douglas Goldman Fund’s invitation-only support. Funding can back efforts to combat antisemitism, address gun violence and other social issues, and create innovative, experiential Jewish programs.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and fiscally sponsored projects serving Miami-Dade County residents can seek program support funding from The Miami Foundation’s Safe Communities Program. Grants of US $10,000 - US $30,000 back efforts like crime prevention, survivor assistance, youth development, and services for survivors of gun violence and other crimes in Florida communities.
