Forever Friends Diana Lain Hughes Scholarship

The primary purpose of the Forever Friend Diana Lain Hughes Scholarship Fund is to provide annual scholarships to one or more graduating high school seniors or former graduates of the Shawnee Mission School District who demonstrate an interest in a career in teaching, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech-language pathology.

Spearfish Volunteer Firefighters' Association Scholarship

To provide financial support to individuals pursuing an education and training in the public safety industry.

The Spearfish Fire Department, established in the late 1880s as a volunteer organization, serves the northern Black Hills in western South Dakota. Its mission is to protect lives and property within the fire protection district and mutual aid area. Additionally, the department advocates for fire safety and provides fire safety education in local schools and the wider community.

The National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) aims to conduct ongoing bio-behavioral surveillance among populations disproportionately affected by HIV. This initiative collects vital data on behavioral risk factors, testing behaviors, and the use of prevention strategies. Participants are offered HIV tests and linked to necessary services, with findings utilized to improve local and national HIV prevention programs. By assessing trends in risk factors, NHBS informs tailored responses and enhances access to prevention services.

Geoff Richter Performing Arts Award

The Geoff Richter Performing Arts Award Committee announces the availability of an Award up to $2,000! The GRPAA was founded in memory of Geoff Richter, Western New York Musician and Educator of the Arts.

About Geoff Richter

A native of Eden, New York, Geoff received his Bachelor of Music degree with a Performer’s Certificate in trumpet and a Master’s with a Performers Fellowship, from the Eastman School of Music.

Geoff played trumpet professionally with the Rochester, San Antonio, and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestras and Niagara Falls, Binghamton, Chautauqua, Orchard Park, Clarence, Cheektowaga, and Amherst Symphony Orchestras. He co-founded the Buffalo Brass Quintet, the Buffalo Niagara Concert Band, and The Frankfurters, an internationally known Bavarian show band. He also acted as the summer/pops conductor of the Erie County Wind Ensemble and the Amherst Symphony Orchestra.

After retiring from a long career at Williamsville North High School, Geoff started working part time as director of the orchestra for musicals at St. Joseph Collegiate Institute. He also worked with the Mount Saint Mary Academy band and recruited and directed the orchestra for the annual school musical.

The AHRF Discovery Grants support innovative research on hearing and balance disorders, offering up to $50,000 for one year. Targeting early-career investigators, these grants aim to generate preliminary data for larger funding applications. Special consideration is given to projects exploring Meniere's disease and sudden hearing loss. Grants cover direct research costs, excluding principal investigator salaries and indirect expenses. The initiative strives to fund promising studies that can advance our understanding of auditory and vestibular health.

The National Institute of Mental Health is inviting research applications for the AIDS Research Center program, which includes Developmental Centers and full Research Centers. This initiative aims to enhance interdisciplinary HIV/AIDS research through collaboration and innovative approaches across various scientific domains. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part C Capacity Development Program aims to enhance the capabilities of community-based organizations, focusing on improving health outcomes and decreasing HIV transmission. This initiative supports individuals who have not yet accessed regular HIV care, emphasizing innovative care solutions and infrastructure development to address these critical needs.

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Emergency Relief Funds aim to provide essential funding to states and territories. This initiative focuses on preventing, reducing, or eliminating waiting lists for ADAP services, ensuring timely access to necessary medications and support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. This program addresses critical funding shortfalls, enhancing the healthcare infrastructure and improving health outcomes in affected communities.

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Integrated HIV/AIDS Planning Resource Allocation Cooperative Agreement aims to enhance the effectiveness of HIV prevention and care planning for RWHAP Parts A and B recipients. The SAF National Awards Program recognizes excellence in forestry through various awards, including the Award in Forest Science. The FY26 Pancreatic Cancer Research Program (PCARP) Idea Development Award promotes innovative, high-risk research aimed at significant advancements for pancreatic cancer outcomes. With only 4% of federal funding allocated to childhood cancer, this program, honoring a dedicated nurse, aims to attract new talent to the field. Each selected Buchbinder Scholar receives a $25,000 award to pursue relevant investigations, emphasizing the importance of supportive care in pediatric allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplants.
