Coopey Boys’ Memorial Fund

About the fund

The Coopey Boys, Raymond Peter and Lauritz Martin, were born with hemophilia, a genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to make blood clots. Sadly, they both died at an early age. The Coopey Boys’ Memorial Fund benefits Corvallis students who suffer from a physical handicap or serious chronic health problem.

The Alzheimer’s Association and ASNR Imaging Research Grant focuses on advancing imaging research in Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. This partnership aims to support early-stage pilot projects that develop novel imaging tools and innovative data analysis methods. Up to three proposals will be funded, with each award capped at $200,000 for one year, promoting significant advancements in the field and enhancing research capabilities for better understanding of dementia.

Joyce and Thomas H. Stanisic Scholarship Fund 

The Joyce and Thomas H. Stanisic Scholarship Fund was established to award scholarships based on need to students working toward a degree or certification in the music or healthcare fields. This scholarship will be given for the entire expected course of study, up to 4 years.

The William & Martha Buckingham Scholarship - Renewal, managed by the Ashland County Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Ashland County high schools with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. This scholarship aids students accepted into accredited colleges or universities and can be renewed for up to three years with proof of enrollment and academic standing. Established by Bill and Martha Buckingham, it reflects their commitment to giving back to the community they adopted as their own.

The McKnight Endowment Fund for Neuroscience offers the Neurobiology of Brain Disorders Award to support innovative research aimed at understanding and treating brain disorders. It provides up to four awards of $100,000 each year for three years, encouraging proposals that explore biological mechanisms and environmental contributions to neurological disorders. The AHS is a professional society of health care providers dedicated to the study and treatment of headache and face pain. The Society’s objective is to promote the exchange of information and ideas concerning the causes and treatments of headache and related painful disorders. Educating physicians, health professionals, and the public while encouraging scientific research are the primary functions of the Society.

Quality Improvement and/or Research Grants: Migraine and Women’s Health

Migraine is a prevalent and debilitating neurological disease that disproportionately affects women, impacting quality of life, productivity, and overall health. Recognizing the need for innovative solutions and enhanced care, Pfizer and the American Headache Society (AHS) are collaborating to offer a new grant opportunity inviting proposals for collaborative quality improvement and research projects focused on migraine and women's health. This Request for Proposals (RFP) aims to foster high-impact research and initiatives that advance scientific understanding, improve patient outcomes, and address gaps in care. Projects should also contribute to the core goal of the AHS – improving the lives of people impacted by migraine and other headache disorders.

Women in Leadership of Central Illinois Scholarship Fund

The Women in Leadership of Central Illinois Scholarship Fund was established by the Women in Leadership of Central Illinois to provide scholarship support for women in the Tri-County (Peoria) area, who are pursuing secondary or post-graduate education or certification at an accredited college or university.

To promote leadership among women by providing mentoring, networking, and educational opportunities.

The Edwin and Ina Ayers Scholarship, established by the Ashland County Community Foundation, honors the legacy of caregiving in the Coe/Ayers family. This scholarship supports students pursuing baccalaureate nursing programs across the U.S., reflecting the family's commitment to healthcare and education. With nearly 200 years of nursing service from family members, this fund not only commemorates Edwin and Ina Ayers but also empowers future generations of nurses dedicated to compassionate care.

The Bill and Cay Harris Scholarship, established in 2010, supports graduating seniors from Ashland County high schools who demonstrate Christian service and leadership qualities. Funded by the Ashland County Community Foundation, this scholarship aims to assist students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 who are accepted to accredited colleges or universities. Preference is given to those majoring in History or Social Studies. Bill and Cay Harris, notable community figures, inspire future generations through this scholarship.

The Ashland Noon Lions Club Scholarship supports educational opportunities for Ashland County high school seniors with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, accepted to accredited colleges. Established by the Ashland Noon Lions Club in 1920, this scholarship aims to foster civic and cultural welfare in the community. Applicants who have family ties to a Lions Club or are Leo Club members receive special consideration, enhancing the scholarship's community impact.

The Ashland County Pilot's Association created the Leo K. Heyl Memorial Scholarship to honor Leo's passion for aviation. This scholarship assists high school seniors from Ashland County or neighboring areas, particularly those majoring in Aviation, with a minimum GPA of 2.5. It reflects the foundation's commitment to nurturing future aviators and maintaining Leo's legacy, ensuring that his love for flying continues to inspire new generations.

The Rockefeller Family Fund's Climate Grant focuses on reducing fossil fuel production to combat climate change. It supports initiatives that hold polluters accountable and fosters citizen engagement for climate action. The fund prioritizes programs that seek to limit oil and gas production, enforce climate damages in court, and promote sustainable energy solutions. By addressing the fossil fuel industry's resistance, the grant aims to create meaningful progress towards climate goals and ensure that those responsible for climate disruption contribute to adaptation efforts.

The Ashland County 4-H Committee Scholarship supports graduating seniors involved in the Ashland County 4-H Program. The Lawrence F. and Barbara J. Dickman Scholarship supports Zeeland High School graduates pursuing higher education in the U.S. on a medical track. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and can reapply if they have received the award previously. Recommendations from teachers or counselors are required. Scholarships are usable starting in the fall of the announcement year and unaccepted scholarships will be forfeited after December 31. This scholarship aims to foster future healthcare professionals.

The Robert Graves Art Scholarship honors a dedicated educator and artist, Robert Graves, who passionately supported young artists. Open to students from Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties pursuing higher education in visual arts, this scholarship encourages creativity and artistic growth. Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation announces more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina.

Leonard G. McLeod Theatre Scholarship

Receiving a diploma from any high school in Cumberland County.

The James Elwyn Memorial Scholarship, established in 2020, honors James Elwyn's legacy in the Wenatchee Valley swimming community. This scholarship supports graduating seniors from Chelan, Douglas, or Grant Counties pursuing further education. Applicants must demonstrate leadership, commitment to swimming, and a minimum of two years in high school swimming or USA swimming. It aims to recognize students who embody the spirit of teamwork and academic excellence inspired by James's dedication as a teacher and coach.

Tony Ross Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are residents or are attending schools in either Marshall County, Indiana or Starke County, Indiana who are pursuing a career in broadcasting.

This scholarship may be renewable to previous recipients.

The Joan L. Conroy Scholarship, established in 2024, supports Ph.D. nursing students dedicated to educating future nurses. It honors Joan L. Conroy's legacy, emphasizing her love for education and nursing. Applicants must have two semesters left in their program and demonstrate a commitment to geriatric nursing and home health care. The Michael Hurewitz Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, supports high school seniors in the region who have a passion for journalism and demonstrate financial need. The Joanne V. Pontier Scholarship, established in 2022 by Mary V. Insall, honors her sister, a dedicated emergency nurse. With a generous $50,000 donation, this scholarship supports emergency nurses pursuing graduate studies. Applicants must be enrolled in accredited nursing programs and have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Preference is given to doctoral students in nursing research. This scholarship aims to foster leadership in nursing and improve emergency care, ultimately saving lives and supporting families.

The AHA Collaborative Sciences Award aims to promote innovative research by pairing investigators from diverse disciplines to tackle cardiovascular issues. Funded by the American Heart Association, this award supports collaboration between established and early-career researchers. Projects must involve at least two co-principal investigators from different fields, and funding is set at $250,000 per year for three years, totaling $750,000. This initiative encourages novel ideas and interdisciplinary partnerships to enhance research outcomes.

The Judith G. Whitaker Scholarship, awarded by Nurses Educational Funds Inc., supports nurses pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in nursing. Applicants must have two semesters of study remaining and meet specific eligibility criteria, including a valid RN license and a minimum GPA of 3.6. Preference is given to doctoral students focusing on nursing research. This scholarship reflects over a century of commitment to advancing nursing education and leadership.

The Huether/Gillan Scholarship, established by the Niskayuna Community Foundation, supports community-minded students from Niskayuna or its school district. This need-based scholarship aims to assist those pursuing higher education while emphasizing academic achievement and community service. Mr. Huether initiated this scholarship in honor of his parents, promoting values of dignity, diversity, impact, inclusion, innovation, and integrity.
