Marcus Stubbs Scholarship

The Marcus Stubbs Scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance in the form of grants to help defray college or university expenses of students who have received services from Volunteers of America Mid-States, to attend any accredited, non-profit higher education institution in Kentucky. Preference is given to applicants living in Jefferson County, but any Kentucky resident is eligible. 

The NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award provides financial assistance to student-athletes who have exhausted their athletics eligibility, enabling them to complete their first undergraduate degree. Since its inception in 2001, nearly $9 million has supported approximately 1,875 athletes, with a remarkable 90 percent graduation rate among recipients. Keep Going Scholarship

The Keep Going Scholarship in Honor of Travis Nagdy was established by Cities United, incubating partner of Russell: A Place of Promise, and Youth Resistance Collective LC, a Kentucky limited liability nonprofit company, utilizing a grant from the Public Welfare Fund, a component fund of the Foundation, to honor the life of Travis Nagdy, a 21 year-old social justice leader in Louisville who lost his life in late 2020. Travis was beloved by the community. His optimism and motivational activism, highlighted in his signature motto "Keep Going!" was vital to the social justice uprisings in Louisville and across the country in 2020. This scholarship recognizes his fight for justice and the continued pursuit of justice by Louisville youth. Specifically, this Fund is designed to provide scholarship assistance in the form of grants to help defray college or university expenses of black students from West Louisville, Kentucky.

South Arts Inc. is offering Literary Arts Grants to support writers, independent publishers, and literary organizations focusing on contemporary literature in the Southern U.S. Grants of up to $5,000 will fund projects in poetry, fiction, and other genres. The H.L. Lyons III Memorial Scholarship was established to provide assistance to help defray expenses for vocational and/or technical post-secondary educational courses or other such training that would help the recipient attain, sustain, or expand their employability by learning new technical skills or trades. Applicants must have experience working in a technical trade, vocation, or manufacturing job, or demonstrate an aptitude for a technical trade and/or vocation.
