Search Through Aging Grants in New Jersey

The Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement is dedicated to enhancing the lives of elderly individuals through targeted support for non-profit organizations. Grants focus on critical areas such as dementia care, wellness programs, and community engagement initiatives. The foundation prioritizes projects that meet the unique needs of seniors, promoting health and active lifestyles. By funding specific projects rather than general support, the foundation aims to make a meaningful impact on the quality of life for senior citizens.

Enterprise Community Partners

Enterprise Community Partners is a national nonprofit that exists to make a good home possible for the millions of families without one. Home is where life happens, where plans are made, and futures begin. It is the foundation for dignity, health, education, wealth, and community. Yet rents keep going up, paychecks don’t keep pace, and good homes in strong neighborhoods are increasingly out of reach.

The system doesn’t work. It must be changed, and it must be changed by us.

Enterprise has the breadth, scale, and expertise to do it. We support community development organizations on the ground. We aggregate and invest billions to improve housing and strengthen communities across the U.S. We advance housing policy at every level of government. We build and manage communities ourselves. Everything we do is informed by the residents we serve.

Together with our partners, we focus on the greatest need — the massive shortage of affordable rental homes — to achieve three goals:

• Increase the supply of affordable homes
• Advance racial equity after decades of systematic racism in housing
• Support residents and strengthen communities to be resilient to the unpredictable, and make upward mobility possible

Since 1982, we have invested $92.0 billion and created 1.1 million homes across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We do all this to make home and community places of pride, power, and belonging.

National Housing Innovation Grant Competition

Home is foundational. It’s where we plant roots, raise and care for our families, and build community bonds. Yet in every corner of the country, millions of people of all ages and backgrounds need a home they can afford.

Wells Fargo is meeting this moment with a powerful grant opportunity. Together with Enterprise, Wells Fargo has launched the third iteration of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge. The 2026 cycle of the housing innovation competition will identify and propel proven, ready-to-scale solutions that transform current practices and increase housing choice and access.

Eligible applicants will compete for five individual grants of $2 million to advance their innovation and drive meaningful, systems-level change in the housing and adjacent industries. Winners will gain access to mentorship and coaching from industry leaders and experts and join a powerful network of Breakthrough Challenge innovators.

Focus Areas

This third cycle of the Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge aims to meet the nation’s affordable housing challenges across all types of communities: Native, rural, suburban, tribal, and urban.

Proposals must encompass one or more of three focus areas:

• Design and Construction
• Finance
• Service Delivery and Programs

Applicants will be asked to show how their proof of concept or pilot program has achieved clear outcomes and success, and provide a clear pathway to expanding the innovation’s reach and impact

Round 1: Criteria and Scoring

Your innovation must meet the criteria below to advance to the official scoring stage.

Type of Community

Innovations can serve all types of communities:

• Rural
• Urban
• Suburban
• Tribal

Location

Priority scoring will be given to applications from entities that are based in – or whose innovations are designed for – one or more of these 28 states, plus D.C.:

• Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C.

Affordability

Innovations must serve residents at these income levels:

• Rental: 80% AMI or below
• Homeownership: 120% AMI or below
• Workforce housing: 120% AMI or below

The CFNJ: Church in Radburn Christian Values Grant aims to support organizations that reflect Christian values through impactful community engagement. This grant prioritizes initiatives in Bergen and Passaic Counties that enhance spiritual growth and advocate for social justice, particularly for marginalized populations. By fostering compassion, service, and love, the grant seeks to empower diverse organizations to address community needs and promote equity, with funding ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 for selected projects.

The Conscious Kids Grant, established by Marlee-Jo Jacobson, aims to support at-risk children and families in underserved communities. With an average grant size of $10,000 to $20,000, the foundation prioritizes educational support and life enhancement services. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt and serve specific counties in New York and New Jersey. The grant focuses on assisting homeless youth, children in foster care, and those with disabilities, fostering community engagement and empowerment.

The George A. Ohl, Jr. Trust Grant supports nonprofit organizations in New Jersey that focus on community welfare. Established by George A. Ohl, Jr. through a testamentary bequest, the foundation aims to enhance the well-being of state residents. Grants typically range from $2,000 to $20,000, with around 25 grants awarded annually. The foundation prioritizes programs that assist the poor, improve living conditions, and provide care for vulnerable populations.

The W. W. Smith Charitable Trust provides funding through its Basic Needs Grant to nonprofits in the Greater Philadelphia area, focusing on food, clothing, and shelter assistance. Priority is given to vulnerable children and seniors. Grants range from $5,000 to $40,000, awarded for a one-year term, with a minimum funding requirement of $5,000. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) and have a service location in the eligible regions.

The CFNJ: George A. Ohl, Jr. Health-Care Services Grant supports initiatives that enhance healthcare services, focusing on innovative programs and equipment, especially for curing infantile paralysis. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $11,000 are available for non-profit organizations in New Jersey directly improving health services for underserved communities. This funding aims to promote equity and inclusivity, addressing systemic health disparities while fostering community-driven solutions.

The CFNJ: Mercer County Community Grant supports nonprofit organizations in addressing community needs in Mercer County. The grant prioritizes initiatives focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, aiming to benefit underserved populations through programs in education, healthcare, and housing, among others. With a funding limit of $10,000, the grant fosters collaborative partnerships to tackle systemic issues and leverage additional resources, ensuring a broad impact across multiple communities.

The Doyle Foundation, Inc. offers grants to 501(c)(3) organizations in the U.S., supporting a variety of causes. Founded by Frank and Gertrude R. Doyle, the foundation initially focused on scholarships for local students but has since expanded its reach to nonprofit grants. With no minimum GPA or income cap for applicants, the foundation aims to empower diverse communities by funding educational pursuits and enhancing quality of life. Its mission reflects the Doyles' legacy of opportunity and community service.

The CFNJ: RSI Foundation Grant aims to support community-driven initiatives that address pressing needs in New Jersey. With a focus on equity and diversity, the foundation seeks proposals that demonstrate a measurable impact, are achievable, and align with their values of inclusivity. Grant amounts typically range from $2,500 to $25,000, prioritizing projects that serve historically underserved populations and improve overall community well-being.

The Edward W. and Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund Grant, established in 1978 in New Jersey, supports health, education, and human services. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt to apply, with a deadline of August 1 for September meetings. The foundation prioritizes agencies serving sick or disabled individuals, orphaned children, and those in the nursing profession. Scholarships and educational initiatives are also funded, benefiting Bergen and Passaic Counties.

The Turrell Fund Grant focuses on supporting organizations that serve children and families, particularly in Vermont and New Jersey. Emphasizing early childhood development, K-12 education, and access to arts and social services, the fund aims to address systemic barriers and promote equity. Priority is given to initiatives that foster systemic change and advocate for policy improvements, ensuring every child has access to quality education and resources necessary for a strong start in life.

The Friends Foundation for the Aging Grant supports innovative and impactful programs aimed at addressing the needs of older adults, particularly within underserved populations. This Quaker foundation prioritizes collaboration and sustainability in its funding efforts. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities focused on enhancing the quality of life for aging individuals. Grants are typically awarded for one year and target organizations that align with the foundation's mission and values.

The CTF: Rooted in Justice Grants program aims to empower youth aged 12 to 20 by funding community-based organizations that engage them in environmental and food justice initiatives. With two-year grants of $25,000 per year, this program prioritizes youth-led urban greening efforts, acknowledging the importance of youth voices in creating equitable communities. Eligible organizations must operate in specific U.S. states and have existing programs that align with social justice principles.

The Somerset Hills Community Health Foundation Grant, offered by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, aims to fund projects that enhance health and well-being in Morris and Somerset counties. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that promote independent living for underserved populations, address chronic health issues, and support healthcare workforce development. The Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists honor exceptional faculty-rank scientists and engineers in the U.S. Recognizing achievements in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemical Sciences, each Laureate receives $250,000 in unrestricted funds. Nominations come from a select group of institutions and previous Laureates, emphasizing innovation and impact. The awards celebrate the future potential of young researchers, fostering diversity in STEM fields. The ceremony takes place annually in New York City.

The New Jersey Afterschool Program - Competitive aims to enhance out-of-school time (OST) programs across New Jersey by engaging youth in high-quality activities. The New Jersey Summer Expansion Project aims to enhance positive youth development for at-risk youth during summer months. This initiative provides funding up to $270,000 to community-based programs, allowing them to expand their services or add new components. With a focus on youth engaged with the justice system, the program seeks to create enriching opportunities when schools are closed, ensuring that young people have access to growth and learning experiences.

The A. Van Deusen Young Artist and Musicians Grant, provided by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, aims to empower nonprofit organizations that nurture young artists and musicians. With funding between $5,000 and $25,000, this grant supports initiatives that foster creativity and artistic expression, ensuring that the next generation of talent in New Jersey has access to essential resources and mentorship. The grant embodies the foundation's commitment to equity and community-driven solutions.

The CFNJ: Rose Anthony Howard and Elizabeth V. Brinley Next Generation Grant focuses on empowering small to midsize nonprofits in New Jersey that provide essential services to children. It aims to uplift underserved youth through educational programs, mentorship, and recreational opportunities. The grant supports initiatives that promote equity and community-driven solutions, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 for impactful projects that address the needs of historically underserved communities.

The New Jersey Office of Faith Based Initiatives (OFBI) aims to enhance the capacity of faith and community-based organizations to address community issues. The program supports diverse projects including civic engagement, food security, and services for seniors, focusing on innovative approaches to create meaningful change. By fostering partnerships and providing resources, OFBI is committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations and facilitating community-driven solutions.

The David and Marilyn Krupnick Foundation Grant offers funding to non-profit organizations that benefit children and families in need, focusing on medical care, educational advancement, and social interaction. Preference is given to projects in the Delaware Valley area. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $25,000 and applications are accepted annually until February 28. The foundation aims to provide direct support to impactful charitable initiatives.

The Monmouth County Community Grant, offered by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, invites nonprofit organizations to submit proposals addressing diverse community needs. Prioritizing initiatives that emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion, this grant supports programs in education, healthcare, and food security, among others. With funding up to $10,000 per organization, the grant aims to foster collaborative partnerships and address systemic issues affecting underserved populations in Monmouth County.

The Montclair Fund for Women Grant supports innovative programs aimed at achieving educational success and social justice, particularly for women and girls of color in Montclair and North Essex. The fund prioritizes direct service work, community change, and projects that combat systemic racism and economic inequality. Additionally, it focuses on enriching educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged students. In 2025, the fund will consider multi-year grant applications, emphasizing community-driven change and empowerment.

The Cigna Group Foundation is launching the Improving Youth Mental Health Grant, committing $9 million over three years to enhance mental health support for youth aged five to 18. This initiative targets post-pandemic challenges, offering resources to parents, caregivers, and youth service professionals. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding between $100,000 and $150,000 to develop programs that promote social-emotional skills, enhance caregiver support, and improve access to mental health interventions in underserved communities.

The CFNJ: Sheila Williamson Memorial Health Grant supports grassroots initiatives aimed at promoting health equity in underserved communities. It empowers small organizations that demonstrate innovative ideas and a commitment to tackling health disparities, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare. With funding ranging from $2,500 to $5,000, the grant seeks to effect lasting change and foster community-driven solutions addressing social and economic inequities in New Jersey.
