Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Funds

The Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will receive $67,845,000 million from US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)in Community Development Block Grant- Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds in response to Vermont's July 2023 floods FEMA Disaster Declaration 4720. These funds will help communities with the necessary expenses related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, restoration of infrastructure and housing, and economic revitalization in the most impacted and distressed areas receiving major disaster declarations, for CDBG-DR eligible activities and addressed a national objective of benefitting low and moderate income people and addressing an urgent need. The Federal Register mandates $54,276,000 must be used to serve communities in HUD-Identified MID areas which are zip code 05656 for Lamoille County and all of Washington county. The remaining $13,569,000 may be used to address unmet needs in the State-Identified MID areas (Caledonia, Orleans, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor Counties).

The Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) is pleased to announce $4,243,069 in available funding under the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program for Housing Projects located in Lamoille County and Washington County, pursuant to Vermont’s CDBG-DR Action Plan.

ACCD will be accepting applications for a Round 3 of CDBG-DR funding with $4,243,069 in CDBG-DR grant funds available.

The ES Veterans Association Grant supports U.S. military service members and veterans in New England. This grant aims to enhance services through charitable giving, focusing on mental, physical, and educational support. Organizations with an EIN can apply for grants of any amount, which must align with the association's mission. The Board of Directors has the final authority on grant requests, ensuring the needs of veterans are met and their sacrifices honored.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, public schools, and qualified local government entities near Georgia-Pacific facilities can apply for Georgia-Pacific Foundation grants to support education, entrepreneurship, community enrichment, and environmental programs. Lamoille County, Vermont organizations within 30 miles of an eligible GP manufacturing community may be considered if their projects benefit those GP communities.

The TD Bank Community Sponsorships Program, supported by the TD Charitable Foundation, provides funding for events and activities that positively impact communities from Maine to Florida. Apply for a Hunger Mountain Cooperative Community Fund Grant

Hunger Mountain Co-op wants everyone to feel welcome, and we strive to be an inclusive and anti-racist community.

This year, we will consider requests for grants of $250 to $3,000 and will only fund projects that are designed to support local food systems, food access, and projects that address inequities in the local food system. For our purposes, the local food system includes farmers, producers, food shelves, and organizations working to make food accessible to our community. Your application will be reviewed by the HMCCF Committee and the Co-op’s Council. Scoring criteria is at the bottom of the application. Grants will be announced at our Annual Meeting in September. Submission deadline: Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

By submitting this application, if approved, you give permission to announce the grant award through area media sources and use your organization as a recipient of a HMCCF Grant in promotional material.

Grants from Vermont Community Foundation help Lamoille County, Vermont nonprofits, schools, and municipal entities fund community, youth, and environmental programs. With over 1,000 grants awarded since 1992, the LCBP fosters partnerships among diverse communities and stakeholders, enabling them to implement critical pollution prevention and habitat restoration initiatives. This grant aims to support these efforts for a healthier and more engaged community, ensuring the preservation of this vital natural resource.

The National Life Group Charitable Foundation offers sponsorships to support nonprofits, focusing on strong community connections. The application opens annually on January 1st and is reviewed on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, but nonprofit status is not mandatory. The foundation prioritizes well-planned proposals that address community needs and demonstrate measurable success. With an annual budget of $2.8 million, sponsorships typically support one-time events, promoting the foundation's do-good message.

The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.

The Kinney Drugs Foundation Grant supports local health facilities and programs, focusing on enhancing community health. Committed to their mission of helping people live healthier lives, the foundation funds various initiatives that benefit their customer base, including nonprofits exempt under IRS 501(c)(3). Organizations seeking support must submit their requests at least one month before the board meeting closest to their event. This grant is an opportunity to enhance health services within the community.

The Nellie Mae Event Sponsorship Fund supports one-time events that promote education justice and racial equity in New England. Organizations targeting local communities, with annual budgets under $2 million, can apply for funding for events scheduled in 2025 or early 2026. The foundation prioritizes public entities and 501(c)3 educational organizations, ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Note that operational costs and online fundraising are not eligible for funding.

The Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) offers Education and Outreach Large Implementation Grants to enhance community engagement and protect the Basin's resources. These grants fund diverse projects focused on water quality improvement, habitat restoration, and educational outreach initiatives. Since 1992, over 1,500 grants have been awarded, fostering partnerships among local organizations, universities, and communities to promote stewardship of the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Lake Champlain Basin.

The Lake Champlain Basin Program offers Educator Mini-grants to support educators in acquiring materials for teaching about Lake Champlain Watershed issues. These grants enhance classroom learning and are available to educators within the Basin who have met specific eligibility criteria. Funds can be used for educational resources that last beyond one academic year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged to secure funding.

The Kelsey Trust, established in 1988, collaborates with the Vermont Community Foundation to provide grants focused on supporting children, families, and basic human needs in the Lake Champlain Basin. With a yearly budget of approximately $200,000, grants typically range from $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations serving the local community must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) or represented by a fiscal sponsor. The Trust emphasizes non-discrimination and prioritizes local organizations.

The National Life Group Charitable Foundation provides grants to nonprofits primarily in Vermont and Texas, focusing on proven programs that address issues like childhood hunger and family support. With an annual budget of $2 million, the foundation seeks proposals with a clear plan, community backing, and measurable success.
