Nonprofit Project Grants

The Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) funds 501(c)(3) organizations working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages, primarily in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. 

Funding Priorities

• Grants will be awarded for the purpose of primarily benefiting, including, or increasing accessibility for individuals with intellectual or development disabilities.
• Grants may be awarded for scholarships or training personnel in the care and education of individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. 
• Grants shall mainly be distributed to a Charity whose primary purpose or whose project is to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. A Charity which has a project to benefit individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities based on financial need shall be awarded the grant money based upon its own objective criteria and without any special preference to members of Civitan or members of their family.

Scholarships

The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County provide scholarship opportunities for local students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, graduate, medical and professional school students who are attending community colleges, four-year universities and career/technical schools.

Dr. Allan George Rewbridge Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Allan George Rewbridge Scholarship Fund was established at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to students attending Harvard Medical School.

Award Type: Single Year Award. Previous recipients are encouraged to re-apply in consecutive years.

The Rogers Family Foundation Fund supports nonprofit organizations focused on education, health, human services, community development, and the arts in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley and North Shore, as well as Southeastern New Hampshire. Jacobs Family New Bedford High School Scholarship

The Jacobs Family New Bedford High School Scholarship Fund of the SouthCoast Community Foundation provides 5 four-year scholarships, up to $35,000. The Scholarships are distributed to graduating seniors from: New Bedford Global Learning Charter School (1), New Bedford High School (3), Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School (1). Recipients must attend an accredited college or university and major in science fields including computer science, mathematics, and engineering.

The Sprague Charitable Contribution Program focuses on giving back to communities through charitable donations. With awards ranging from $250 to $10,000, priority is given to organizations that support children and environmental stewardship, particularly within Sprague's operational areas. The program seeks impactful contributions that can achieve significant results, reflecting Sprague's commitment to social responsibility and community improvement.

The Garden Club of America Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies supports graduate students engaged in coastal wetlands research. Established through the Rockefeller Environmental Education Fund, this scholarship promotes conservation by funding field work in tidal and nontidal wetlands across coastal states, including the Great Lakes. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. graduate program and can propose their own wetlands study. The award aims to foster environmental education and scientific inquiry in this vital ecosystem.

The Agricultural Composting Improvement Grant Program (ACIP) aims to enhance agricultural composting operations by providing funding for equipment and facility upgrades. Eligible projects can receive up to 75% of total costs, capped at $75,000. This initiative supports sustainable practices in farming by improving compost management and facilitating on-farm compost use. This funding opportunity invites innovative pilot studies focused on biological, behavioral, and social mechanisms related to HIV pathogenesis, aligning with NIDDK's mission and NIH HIV/AIDS research priorities. This program supports the expansion of emergency care and assistance for survivors of human trafficking during the 2026 FIFA World Cup events.

Through this opportunity, the Office of Grants and Research is making funds available to Massachusetts-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that specialize in providing emergency care and assistance for survivors of human trafficking. 

Throughout the months of June and July, over 2 million visitors are expected to visit Massachusetts for the 2026 FIFA World Cup games and related events. These events, accompanied by an influx of tourists from around the world, are expected to heighten the risk of trafficking-related activity.  

This state funding is intended as emergency supplemental support to help organizations secure the additional staff and resources needed to respond to increased referrals from first responders, hotel staff, ride‑share drivers, and others assisting potential human trafficking victims, as well as individuals seeking services themselves.

Fair Share Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Services

The purpose of this competitive grant program is to expand the Public Adult Education (PAE) system's capacity to

• Increase the number of providers and classes to address the demand for adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services.
• Prepare English learners for entry and success in the Massachusetts workforce by incorporating digital skills and contextualized workplace preparation into instruction.

Priorities:

Competitive priority will be given to applications that

• Have formal agreements with current DESE providers to enroll eligible students who are currently waiting for English for Speakers of Other Languages ESOL classes.
• Include a partnership with a workforce training provider or employer.
• Demonstrate the capacity to provide adult English for Speakers of Other Languages ESOL students with the necessary job readiness and digital skills to meet the needs of local employers.

Funding:

• Up to $2,000,000 is available.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for graduate and doctoral students pursuing degrees in nutrition and dietetics. With scholarship amounts ranging from $500 to $25,000, applicants can utilize a single application to be considered for multiple opportunities. Eligibility includes enrollment in accredited programs and other criteria such as experience in education or dietetics. Membership in the Academy is encouraged, although not required, for most scholarships.

The Small Business Transportation Technical Assistance Center (Region 1) is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide critical support for small businesses in the transportation sector. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial stability, meet revenue criteria, and be located in the Greater Boston area. The grant prioritizes missions addressing poverty, income inequality, and employment readiness among others. CSX Charitable Investments offers the Pride in Service Grants to support organizations that honor and assist military members and first responders. Focus areas include safety, mental health, community bridging, workforce development, and addressing food insecurity. Eligible organizations include those with 501(c)(3) status, government entities, and educational institutions. Grants aim to uplift communities and recognize the contributions of those who serve, while ensuring alignment with specific charitable criteria.

The Jeremiah Lucey Grant Program, managed by the Leary Firefighters Foundation, supports paid and volunteer fire departments across the US, focusing on training, equipment, and technology enhancements. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $25,000, with larger amounts occasionally available. Departments must demonstrate proactive problem-solving efforts.
