The Jean Griswold Foundation

The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Jim and Fran Foss Scholarship, administered by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Sioux Falls public high schools. This scholarship encourages students who plan to attend accredited four-year colleges or universities, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate financial need. With over 70 scholarships awarded annually, it aims to empower local students to achieve their educational aspirations and contribute positively to the community.

Ezekiel Hennessey Mitchel Scholarship Fund

The Ezekiel Hennessey Mitchel Memorial Scholarship is designated for graduating high school seniors from Benton, Polk, Lincoln, and Linn Counties pursuing careers in vocations such as the following:

• Home building trades
• Tile setting
• Carpentry
• General contracting
• Electrical
• Plumbing
• HVAC
• Welding
• Entrepreneurship and/or small business development
• Other trades defined by Benton Community Foundation

Students must attain certificates or degrees from accredited trade schools, technical schools, or community colleges. 

The Emily Trussell Stupak Scholarship Fund, established by the Maine Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from high schools in Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Hancock Counties. It aims to assist those pursuing higher education at accredited colleges or universities, particularly those who have shown dedication and talent in their chosen athletic pursuits. About

Interventional radiologists create and introduce novel, minimally invasive procedures and devices that help solve some of our toughest medical challenges. To continue this rich history of innovation in IR, the purpose of this award is to fund compelling, novel ideas that lead to improved health outcomes in IR.

Innovation, for this purpose, is broadly defined as any use of emerging methods, new devices, new procedures or new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, that display an exceptional degree of potential for transforming and advancing the specialty of interventional radiology.

The Annual Meeting Research Award Committee selects one recipient for this award each year.

The recipient will receive:

• Complimentary annual meeting registration
• Travel stipend up to $1,000
• The opportunity to present their research as well as meet peers, network with senior scientists and participate in learning opportunities at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting
• Recognition during the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting

The Earthwatch Institute's Teach Earth Fellowship connects K-12 teachers with scientists through immersive research expeditions. Celebrating 50 years, this program empowers educators to inspire students with hands-on environmental science experiences. Teachers gain confidence, collaborate with peers, and develop impactful curricula. The fellowship includes workshops, networking opportunities, and resources to enhance environmental education in classrooms. Participants return with renewed purpose, ready to engage their communities in conservation efforts.

The NHLBI Catalyze program aims to transition basic science discoveries into effective treatments for diseases under the NHLBI mission. This initiative supports early-stage product definition, prototype design, and assay development for HLBS disorders. The R61 phase focuses on initial designs and experimental setups, while the R33 phase extends support for prototype testing and user feedback. Successful completion prepares products for in vivo testing, enhancing health and societal outcomes with NIH and other support.

The MidAmerica National Bank’s Employees Children Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by MidAmerica National Bank to provide scholarship support to the children of bank employees. The Beckley Area Foundation proudly manages scholarship funds established by individuals, businesses, and organizations dedicated to helping students pursue higher education. Many of these scholarships are tailored for specific schools, fields of study, or graduates from local high schools, while others offer broader opportunities. No matter the path, our scholarships aim to support students from our region as they work toward achieving their educational goals.

Walker Family Scholarship

Eligibility

Graduating Senior from a Raleigh County High School; Pursuing a degree in the arts; 3.0 GPA; Demonstrate both academic merit, and financial need.

The Beta Psi Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, supports high school seniors from Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties who are planning to attend a four-year college. Applicants must demonstrate exemplary character and achievement, specifically targeting those of African American or African descent. This initiative reflects CFGCR's commitment to enriching community life since 1968, empowering students through educational opportunities.

The Peter C. Sotus, M.D. Scholarship is part of the Erie Community Foundation's initiative that awarded over $800,000 in scholarships in 2023 to support students pursuing post-secondary education. This scholarship targets high school seniors accepted into accredited institutions, focusing on careers in medicine or music. Preference is given to students born outside the US or children of non-US born parents. This award encourages diversity and support for aspiring professionals.

The Future Energy Leaders Scholarship, offered by the Delaware Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Sussex County high schools pursuing two or four-year degrees. Awardees receive $2,500 annually for four years, contingent on maintaining enrollment and demonstrating financial need. The Believe in Reading Grant, offered by The Steve and Loree Potash Family Foundation, targets established literacy programs with a proven track record. Grants can be up to $10,000, with a focus on projects that earmark funds specifically for literacy. Applications are reviewed bi-monthly, and first-time applicants are limited to $3,000.

May Family Foundation

Eleanor Jean May established the May Family Foundation in 2000, as a gesture of gratitude to the communities that shaped her life. The May Family Foundation is dedicated to identifying programs that strongly resonate with our mission and values as we work together to empower and uplift lives within our communities.

May Family Foundation Mentoring Grant

Our foundation strives to be engaged in our local communities beyond grant funding. We support select programs that align with our goals and form a connection through potential volunteering opportunities, site visits, and recognition of successes.

We welcome grant applications for financial support in mentoring:

• Programs that pair students with adult mentors who provide guidance and support to help students succeed academically and develop important life skills.
• These can go beyond the classroom, such as sports and recreation enrichment programs.

The Coordinating Agricultural Development & Innovation (CADI) initiative fosters trade growth in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia by removing barriers to U.S. agricultural exports. Funded by the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, CADI aims to inject over $622 million into the U.S. economy while preventing potential losses exceeding $50 billion. The awardee will conduct essential research and provide actionable recommendations to support U.S. farmers and enhance trade relationships, ensuring a prosperous agricultural sector.

The Monday Musical Club Grant, offered by the Berrien Community Foundation, aims to enhance music education in Berrien County. Grants are available for schools and nonprofit organizations to support music programs and performances that engage people of all ages. The initiative focuses on projects that promote accessibility to music education and enhance musical experiences, fostering a rich appreciation for music within the community.

The Alliance Global Partners Scholarship, established in August 2022 by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, offers post-secondary financial aid to graduating students from southern Beaufort County high schools. This scholarship aims to support those pursuing business education at accredited institutions. With a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities, this initiative reflects the foundation's mission to empower local communities and ensure that students can thrive in their academic and professional pursuits.

The Samuel R. and Anna Barone Scholarship, established by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports Erie County, Ohio graduating seniors who are first-generation college-bound students. This scholarship aims to assist students demonstrating financial need and academic achievement, with a requirement of a minimum 3.0 GPA. Since 1995, the foundation has been committed to empowering local youth and enhancing community quality of life through education.

The Madeleine Chapter 204, Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship supports graduating seniors from Erie County, Ohio high schools, emphasizing financial need and community service. With a minimum GPA of 3.0, this scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years, subject to the Scholarship Advisory Committee's discretion. Preference is given to applicants from Vermilion High School, fostering local talent and community engagement.

The John and Clara Corogin Scholarship, offered by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports minority graduating seniors from any Erie County, Ohio high school. This scholarship emphasizes financial need and the desire for higher education rather than just academic achievements. It aims to empower students with leadership potential and realistic goals, helping them contribute positively to their community. Since 1995, the foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Erie County.

The Floyd Family Scholarship, established by the Erie County Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie County, Ohio, who aim to pursue degrees in music, music education, general education, or liberal arts. Preference is given to Huron High School graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This scholarship can be renewed for up to three additional years, ensuring long-term educational support for deserving students.

The Capital Region Advertising Federation (CRAF) Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, supports high school seniors and full-time college students from the Greater Capital Region. Eligible applicants must be majoring in fields such as public communications, marketing, graphic arts, or public relations. This scholarship aims to empower students by providing financial assistance to further their education and career in communications-related disciplines.

The Palmetto Bluff Inspiring The Arts Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, aims to support talented high school seniors from Beaufort, Jasper, or Chatham County in pursuing post-secondary education in the arts. With a minimum GPA requirement of 3.5, this scholarship encourages students dedicated to artistic fields to further their education and career aspirations, empowering them to make a significant impact in the creative community.
