The Michigan Sugar Queen Scholarship, offered by Michigan Sugar Company, empowers young women aged 18-23 to represent the sugar industry as the Michigan Sugar Queen and Court Attendants. Each year, they receive scholarships of $4,000 and $2,000 respectively. Candidates must reside in sugarbeet-growing counties and demonstrate knowledge of the industry. Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.

The Albert Flegenheimer Memorial Scholarship, established by Michigan Sugar Company in 1974, honors a dedicated leader and supports high school seniors completing a Youth Sugarbeet Project with a $2,500 award. Additionally, the Next Generation Scholarship, initiated in 2013, provides a $1,000 award to the runner-up, reinforcing Michigan Sugar Company’s commitment to nurturing future sugarbeet growers. This scholarship program emphasizes community involvement and encourages local youth to pursue agricultural opportunities.

The Saginaw Bay WIN Grants, managed by The Conservation Fund, aim to foster sustainable solutions within the Saginaw Bay watershed. Established in 1996, this initiative supports projects addressing economic, environmental, and social challenges through funding in five focus areas: agriculture, communication, land use, water resources, and wildlife stewardship. By promoting partnerships and innovative approaches, WIN helps communities thrive while ensuring the region's natural resources are preserved for future generations.

The GM on Main Street Grant Program, led by Main Street America, focuses on enhancing the safety and vibrancy of downtowns through innovative road safety and traffic calming projects. Funded by General Motors, this program seeks transformative ideas that promote pedestrian safety and accessibility, making downtown areas more inviting for residents and visitors. Eligible applicants include non-profits and local governments in designated counties, with a strong emphasis on projects that are inclusive, feasible, and easily replicable.

The Mud Hens-Walleye Transportation Fund supports schools and nonprofit organizations in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan by providing transportation grants for attending Toledo Mud Hens baseball and Toledo Walleye hockey games. With awards up to $1,000, the fund aims to eliminate financial barriers for educational field trips to these events. The Ruth Mott Foundation Grants aim to enhance community engagement and address key priorities identified by north Flint residents. The Community Foundation of Greater Flint's CFGF: Community Impact Fund aims to support nonprofit organizations that provide vital resources to marginalized groups, fostering community connections and inclusivity. Established in 1988, this fund emphasizes collaborative efforts and strategic priorities aligned with community needs in Genesee County. Grants are available for various initiatives, including health, youth support, and historic preservation. Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to non-discrimination and relevance to local residents to qualify for funding.

The GM Corporate Giving Grants support U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations focused on STEM education and transportation initiatives. Applications are accepted from January to September, with a requirement to submit requests at least three months before the program’s start date. GM emphasizes charitable contributions in the communities where it operates, ensuring that organizations align with its values. It aims to foster active engagement, encourage stakeholders to collaborate with local institutions, and instill pride among residents. By developing community leadership and alliances, the program strives to create lasting change and motivate community members to continue their efforts for a better neighborhood.

Flint Women and Girls Fund

Supports programs that encourage the advancement and full participation of women and girls in society by promoting the removal of barriers to their economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic, and personal growth.

This means: (1) supporting programs that advocate policy and system change on issues that affect women/girls; (2) encouraging programs that will enable women and women's organizations to achieve economic self-sufficiency; (3) supporting organizations that increase the range of choices available to women and girls; and (4) giving high priority to organizations in which women are the primary decision makers.

Spectrum Digital Education Grants support nonprofit organizations in educating communities about broadband benefits and usage. These grants aim to bridge the digital divide, particularly for seniors and those with disabilities or ethnically diverse backgrounds. Applicants must demonstrate community partnership, address specific needs, and provide measurable impact metrics. With a focus on financial feasibility and meaningful outcomes, this initiative ensures that underrepresented urban and rural communities gain access to essential digital resources, fostering long-term improvement in their lives.
