Interventional radiologists create and introduce novel, minimally invasive procedures and devices that help solve some of our toughest medical challenges. To continue this rich history of innovation in IR, the purpose of this award is to fund compelling, novel ideas that lead to improved health outcomes in IR.

Innovation, for this purpose, is broadly defined as any use of emerging methods, new devices, new procedures or new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, that display an exceptional degree of potential for transforming and advancing the specialty of interventional radiology.

The Annual Meeting Research Award Committee selects one recipient for this award each year.

The recipient will receive:

• Complimentary annual meeting registration
• Travel stipend up to $1,000
• The opportunity to present their research as well as meet peers, network with senior scientists and participate in learning opportunities at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

The ASF Family Fund Grant, offered by the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, provides crucial financial assistance to families of individuals with Angelman syndrome. This rare neuro-genetic disorder affects approximately 500,000 people globally. The fund aims to enhance the quality of life for affected individuals, allowing caregivers to apply for up to $5,000 to cover essential needs. Limitations include restrictions on certain expenses and prior grant awards. This initiative aims to support families through education and necessary resources.

The CFF/NIH R01-Unfunded Award, offered by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, supports exceptional CF-related research projects that have been submitted to NIH but lack funding. This program aims to bridge the gap for meritorious projects, providing up to $125,000 per year for two years. By facilitating research in cystic fibrosis, the foundation helps ensure that innovative ideas can continue to progress toward improving care and outcomes for individuals affected by this disease.

Mission: To continually improve the Marion Area community through philanthropy, leadership and civic engagement. Mountz Girls ScholarshipThe Mountz Girls Scholarship Fund was created in 2022 by Patricia Anne Chapman to honor her mother and aunts — Virginia M. Duffey, Glenna L. Rodman, and Jean A. Kibler, and her mother, Rachel F. Chapman. An inheritance from her Aunt Glenna Lou was the seed money to start the scholarship, to be awared to female students — seniors and graduates — of high schools in Marion County pursuing an education in the fine arts, visual arts, commercial art, or art education.

The ESA Youth Scholarship Program, by the Electronic Security Association, provides financial support to children of first responders, having awarded over $941,500 to date. Eligible applicants are high school seniors with parents who are full-time active first responders. Each scholarship winner receives $1,000 and a chance to compete for larger awards of $14,000 for first place and $5,000 for second place. Applications are welcomed from students in participating states.

The Frederic C. Collin Trust Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations in promoting polo and tennis, especially among youth. Established under Frederic C. Collin's will, it offers grants ranging from $2,000 to $3,800, with an annual total giving of approximately $9,000. Applications are accepted year-round for consideration during the annual grant meeting. This initiative aims to enhance participation in these sports, fostering talent and interest among young players.

The Anna Fuller Fund Grant provides year-round support for organizations dedicated to alleviating suffering caused by cancer. Established in memory of Egbert C. Fuller’s wife, the fund prioritizes applications that focus on cancer research and education initiatives. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations or equivalent charities outside the U.S. Grant funds cannot be used for direct treatment, ensuring that resources are allocated to research and public education.

Marshall Community Foundation

The Marshall Community Foundation is a partnership of endowed funds established by individuals and organizations. A Board of Trustees, comprised of local community leaders, invest the pooled endowments. Income generated is then available for grants that address charitable needs in our community. Staff and trained volunteers monitor the grants to ensure fulfillment of the grant agreements.

Wagner-Kaiser STEM Scholarship

Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors residing in Calhoun County or graduates from a school within the CISD pursuing a degree in a STEM related field.

Advanced coursework or volunteerism/participation in relevant STEM-related activities and GPA may be a determining factor. 

The AWS Welding Workforce Grants aim to enhance welding programs by providing up to $50,000 for essential resources such as new equipment and training. This initiative addresses the growing demand for skilled welders while supporting educational institutions. Eligible applicants include secondary schools, community colleges, and post-secondary programs. Preference is given to proposals that significantly increase welding graduates and address geographic areas with high needs. Note: Applications are currently closed and will reopen in January 2026.

The Bowman Family Swimming Scholarship, provided by the Central Kentucky Community Foundation, aims to support graduating high school seniors in Hardin County who are active swimmers. Eligible applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be involved with their school's swim team. This scholarship embodies the Foundation's mission to enhance community life by empowering students to pursue their educational goals in athletics.

Diversity Leadership Fellowship

The Diversity Leadership Fellowship identifies and motivates minority psychiatry residents or those interested in minority and vulnerable populations to become well equipped to teach, administer, and provide culturally competent, evidence based mental health and substance abuse services to diverse minority groups and at-risk populations. These populations include—but are not limited to—American Indians/Native Alaskans, Asian Americans/Native Hawaiians/Native Pacific Islanders, Blacks/African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, LGBTQ, and religious minorities. It offers flexible funding up to $325,000 annually for transformative research. Candidates must have independent faculty status and demonstrated productivity in diabetes research. The program aims to inspire groundbreaking discoveries by providing essential resources and mentorship, thereby improving the lives of those affected by diabetes. Nominations focus on translational research that bridges basic science with practical benefits for patients.

The Pathway to Stop Diabetes Initiator Award (INI) aims to support early career researchers in diabetes research by providing funding and mentorship. With a focus on innovative and transformational ideas, this initiative encourages researchers to develop groundbreaking solutions for diabetes prevention and management. The award offers up to $100,000 annually in Phase 1 and $325,000 in Phase 2, fostering a new generation of leaders committed to improving the lives of those affected by diabetes.
