Oriole Foundation / Paula & Art Janousek Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Paula and Art Janousec. The Paula and Art Janousec Memorial Scholarship was established with funds donated by the Janousecs and the scholarship was named in their honor by former superintendent Cal DeKuiper who knew the Janousecs as his neighbors. Living next to the superintendent, the Janousecs were inspired and impressed by Ludington's staff and administration's dedication to education and students and cooperative spirit. Their wish was to create a legacy of support as friends of Ludington's educational community.

The Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund, a private foundation established in 1992, is dedicated to enhancing the Jewish community by awarding grants that foster inclusivity and vibrancy. The fund invites proposals from organizations committed to combating antisemitism and supporting progressive initiatives such as climate action and reproductive rights. Eligible applicants must hold 501(c)(3) status and can submit one request per year, focusing on projects in the San Francisco Bay Area or nationally.

Raymond and Teresa Cioe Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Raymond and Teresa Cioe, who established the Raymond and Teresa Cioe Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Ray and his sisters, Teresa and Angela, lived together and were known as frugal, saving every cent they could. Angela passed away many years ago, Teresa worked for Muskegon Federal Savings and Loan and Ray worked for years at Continental Motors. 'Though never married, the Cioes loved children and had a life-long vision of helping students who chose to receive a faith-based education. Ray left Continental Motors to pursue a degree that would allow him to teach. In 1954, he began teaching at Catholic Central, also serving as the School's business manager, business teacher, athletic director, football, basketball and golf coach. Recognizing Ray's dedicated service to Catholic Central athletics, in 1993 he received the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award. At Teresa's death, the Cioe's estate plan directed that a portion go to the Community Foundation to establish the Raymond and Teresa Cioe Fund which will present scholarships to Muskegon Area students who wish to attend independent colleges such as Notre Dame, Aquinas or Albion.

The Irene S. and Harry Louik College Scholarship Fund, established in 2001 by The Pittsburgh Foundation, supports students pursuing careers in the performing arts. Eligible applicants must be full-time juniors or seniors at a four-year college, have graduated from an Allegheny County high school, show financial need, and demonstrate a commitment to building audiences for the arts. Preference is given to those who appreciate broader cultural experiences beyond the performing arts.

The BRAIN Initiative Advanced Postdoctoral Career Transition Award (K99/R00) aims to enhance diversity in neuroscience by supporting talented postdoctoral researchers from various backgrounds. Oriole Foundation / Cronenwett Family Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Oriole Foundation. At the heart of The Cronenwett Family Scholarship is a fierce love of family, dedication to the Ludington educational community, and U of M football. Jack and Marie Cronenwett honeymooned in Ann Arbor cheering on their favorite team and raised their family in Ludington. Their children, Jack and Sue, both graduated from LHS and became respected medical professionals. Jack became a vascular surgeon practicing in New Hampashire and lecturing all over the world and Sue worked locally as an ER Nurse, serving at our local hospital for many years. For Sue, her dedication expanded beyond nursing to include serving on the LASD School Board as President and as a long standing board member for over 30 years.

The Cronenwett Family Scholarship honors the importance of STEM study, the power of an effective educational system, and celebrates the pathway of Oriole graduates to University of Michigan Wolverines.

The Pediatric Physical Therapy Research Grant, funded by the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, supports innovative research to enhance physical therapy practices. By fostering early career researchers, the grant aims to build a strong evidence base in physical therapy. Over the past 46 years, this initiative has created a sustainable pipeline for research funding, benefiting patients and healthcare professionals alike, while advancing the profession's evidence-based practices.

The Freda Gray Charitable Fund, established by The Pittsburgh Foundation, offers scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in foreign languages. This initiative supports students from Allegheny County, PA, who have demonstrated academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0. By providing financial assistance, the fund aims to empower future generations in their pursuit of education, fostering a diverse and skilled workforce in the field of languages. The Pittsburgh Foundation has been a leader in community support since 1945.

The GE Transportation AAF "Raymond Clarke" Dare to Dream Scholarship, administered by the Erie Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie High School who have a minimum GPA of 2.2 and are accepted to accredited universities or trade schools. This scholarship aims to facilitate access to higher education for deserving students, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to educational advancement in the community.

Noble Arent Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Ludington Area School District, which established the Noble Arent Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Community Foundation for Mason County.

This fund shall provide scholarships to a graduating Ludington High School senior member of the National Honor Society. This student must pursue a degree in the Field of Education at any four-year accredited college or university.

Ruth Skwarek Scholarship

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Ruth Skwarek, who established the Ruth Skwarek Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. Education was very important to Ruth Skwarek. She was a Fulbright Scholar, and entered college at the age of 16, receiving a degree from Western Michigan University, a master’s in French from Michigan State University, and in French and Speech from Western Michigan University. She taught elementary grades at Grand Haven and Holland public schools, as well as French and German at Muskegon Community College for 20 years. The Ruth Skwarek Scholarship will assist Muskegon County students who are pursuing four year degrees at any college or university. Ms. Skwarek is particularly concerned that this assists those students who come from “middle income” families for whom there is little other aid available

The Martin Family Scholarship, sponsored by the Erie Community Foundation, provides financial assistance to graduating seniors from Erie County High Schools. With over $800,000 awarded in 2023, this scholarship prioritizes students with at least a 3.0 GPA who demonstrate financial need and have engaged in extracurricular activities. Eligible applicants must have completed two years of a foreign language and participated in school sports or clubs, promoting a well-rounded educational experience.

The Douglas & Deborah Murphy Scholarship, offered by the Erie Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Erie High School who aspire to continue their education or training. To be eligible, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. In 2023, the foundation awarded over $800,000 in scholarships to more than 500 students, helping them pursue diverse career paths beyond high school.

The Gary & Helen Howell Family Scholarship Fund, established by the Erie Community Foundation, offers financial support to high school seniors from local schools such as McDowell and Cathedral Prep who demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In 2023, the foundation awarded over $800,000 in scholarships to more than 500 students pursuing post-secondary education, showcasing its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in the community.

The Eugene and Nell Petrucci Fund #1, established in 1945 by The Pittsburgh Foundation, offers scholarships to graduating seniors from specific local schools. The Open Door Scholarship

This fund was created by a donor family who believes that education is the cornerstone to a life of opportunity, security, choice, and continued growth. The aim of the Open Door Scholarship is to do just that – help open the door to driven, hardworking students who share the donor family’s belief in the power of education and who seek to use that education to thrive.

The Judith A. Dormann “Good Apple” Scholarship, awarded by the Erie Community Foundation, aims to support students who may not consider post-secondary education. With over $800,000 allocated to scholarships in 2023, this initiative seeks to recognize hard-working individuals demonstrating strong personal initiative and a commendable work ethic. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, ensuring that the scholarship reaches those who are committed to their educational goals.

Stanley T. and Berenice J. Lowe Scholarship Fund

The Berenice Bryant Lowe Fund was established by the Historical Society of Battle Creek and the Lowe family to honor and perpetuate the legacy of the pioneer local historian who tirelessly researched and passionately promoted Battle Creek's heritage for more than twenty years. Berenice Bryant Lowe was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a drama and speech teacher at Battle Creek Central High School. She was a passionate collector of local history and spent years ferreting long-forgotten items out of attics and collecting anecdotes from residents. She was one of the moving spirits behind the revitalization of the Historical Society of Battle Creek and the renovation of the Kimball House into a museum of local history. To recognize Berenice Lowe's twin interest in local history- research and education- the fellowship was established in 1999 with the purpose of providing funding to individuals to develop educational materials and to publish local historical research for use in the community. In 2018, to recognize Berenice's passion for education and her secret sponsorship of students attending KCC, a scholarship was added to support students attending Kellogg Community College in the professional trades and nursing.

School Nurses Association of Carroll County (SNACC) Scholarship

The purpose of the School Nurses Association of Carroll County (SNACC) Scholarship is to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from any Carroll County Public High School planning to pursue a career in nursing. The scholarship is intended to help defray first year college expenses.

All income in the Fund shall be used for fund purposes.

The money shall be transmitted by the Community Foundation of Carroll County directly to the desired college or university and applied directly to the student's tuition and books. The monies shall not be remitted to the scholarship winner.

The AAD Advocate Of The Year Award, presented by the American Academy of Dermatology Association, honors exceptional grassroots advocacy efforts in dermatology. This prestigious award promotes year-round advocacy and highlights the significant impact of dedicated individuals. Eligibility includes active participation in legislative efforts and direct engagement with legislators. It aims to inspire and recognize those who contribute to the advancement of dermatology and skin health through advocacy initiatives.

The Margaret Taylor Kiracofe Memorial Scholarship

The Margaret T. Kiracofe Scholarship Fund was created to honor Mrs. Kiracofe, an outstanding teacher. The majority of her career was spent in elementary schools. She had the ability to excite and inspire learning by engaging students in creative projects. As someone who worked to put herself through college, Margy’s friends and colleagues felt a scholarship would be the best way to honor her legacy.

$1,000.00 Scholarship for any Carroll County High School Student who plans to study Elementary Education.

Northern New York Community Foundation

Since 1929, the Northern New York Community Foundation has invested in improving and enriching the quality of life for all in communities across Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.

JP North Country Music Scholarship

 Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence county students in the Class of 2026 who plan to pursue studies in music are encouraged to apply.

The Aman Armaan Ahmed Family SURF for Success Program offers summer undergraduate research fellowships for students from underrepresented groups in biomedical research. Awardees engage in 10 weeks of research related to digestive diseases under expert mentorship, receiving a stipend of $6,200. This initiative aims to inspire students to pursue careers in science and medicine, enhancing diversity in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology.

Blind Educator of the Year Award

Recognize a blind educator who strives to guide, uplift, and advocate for their blind students and the needs of blind people.

The Blind Educator of the Year Award was established by the National Organization of Blind Educators, a division of the National Federation of the Blind, in 1991 to recognize outstanding blind teachers.

Every year, the award pays tribute to a blind teacher whose exceptional classroom performance, notable community service, and uncommon commitment to the NFB merit national recognition. A teacher not only provides information but also guidance, advocacy, and love. The recipient of the Blind Educator of the Year Award must exhibit all of these traits and must advance the cause of blind people in the spirit and philosophy of the NFB.

Peikert Scholarship Fund, awarded by the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, provides renewable scholarships for Kalamazoo County residents pursuing technical training or degree programs.
