Work supported through this mechanism will address important areas of need across the entire care continuum and have the immediate potential to increase research efforts, quality of life and survivorship. The overarching theme of the proposals should be centered around using patient advocacy as a tool to develop strategies toward improving outcomes for patients with SCLC. We will encourage applications on a wide variety of topics related to SCLC, including but not limited to the following:

• Advanced Screening and Diagnostic Technologies
  • Create comprehensive survivorship care plans addressing long-term healthcare needs, focusing on follow-up care, monitoring for recurrence, and managing chronic side effects

• Access and Equity
  • Investigate barriers to accessing quality care, clinical trials, screening and biomarker testing for SCLC patients and purpose solutions to ensure equitable healthcare delivery for diverse populations

• Technology Integration
  • Explore the use of digital health tools and technologies to facilitate better patient-provider interactions, personalized care, and continuous monitoring during the care continuum
• Patient Feedback Mechanisms
  • Establish robust feedback systems to gather patient insights and experiences and use this data to inform continuous improvements in care delivery, diagnostic technologies, treatment approaches, clinical protocols and accessible repositories to facilitate broad research collaboration

Charmayne Gooch Arts Scholarship

The Charmayne Gooch Arts Scholarship is available to Larimer County students who have the potential to succeed but may not have attained sufficient academic achievement to place them in a position to receive other scholarships. This can include students with a disability or special needs and/or a student who would benefit from a program with less emphasis on academics such as art, writing, music, or visual arts.

Scholarship awards are one-time awards. The amount awarded to a selected recipient may be used for the cost of attendance. All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and must be used for the upcoming academic year. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s college or university.

The Council of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians (CNNT) Research Grant, funded by the National Kidney Foundation, offers $10,000 annually for research that enhances kidney disease management. Eligible applicants must be NKF-CNNT members with at least two years of nephrology experience. We administer a number of scholarships, which range from the traditional academic and athletic awards to corporate and special circumstances offerings. These scholarships are open to all residents of Marshall County, as long as other requirements are met.

Provides one or more annual scholarships to Marshall County high school seniors — specifically students graduating from Argos Community Schools, Bremen Public Schools, Culver Community Schools, John Glenn School Corporation, Plymouth Community Schools, Triton Community Schools or Union-North United School Corporation. 

Include a 250 word maximum essay including background, educational goals and any other information that might be helpful to the scholarship committee.

The Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program aims to ensure the sustainability of primary care residency training in community-based ambulatory patient care centers. By providing essential funding, this program supports the development of healthcare professionals who are equipped to deliver high-quality care, particularly in rural and underserved areas, enhancing the capacity to meet diverse health needs across various populations.

The APSF/FAER Mentored Research Training Grant aims to enhance anesthesia patient safety by funding promising anesthesiologists who are within 10 years of their first faculty appointment. This two-year grant, totaling $300,000, supports the development of independent researchers focused on perioperative safety. Recipients must allocate 60% of their time to research and career development. With this initiative, the APSF and FAER seek to cultivate the next generation of safety scientists in anesthesia.

The Jacques Pepin Foundation (JPF) is dedicated to advancing culinary arts education by supporting community kitchens that provide culinary training to individuals facing employment barriers. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for nonprofits to enhance their culinary programs, including operating costs and facility improvements. Eligibility extends to organizations funded in prior cycles, those that applied but were not funded, and newcomers to JPF funding. This initiative aims to empower underserved communities through culinary skills.

The Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) Grants program by the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation aims to enhance patient safety in anesthesia care through innovative research. Grants up to $200,000 (or $300,000 with waiver) are available for projects addressing critical safety issues, with a focus on studies leading to measurable improvements in outcomes. The program encourages collaboration and creativity, prioritizing research that lacks alternative funding sources, while also supporting junior investigators with mentorship opportunities.

The American Epilepsy Society offers Seed Grants to support established researchers in exploring innovative research methodologies and collaborations. These grants aim to foster new lines of inquiry in epilepsy research. Notably, proposals that align with specific partner priorities may enjoy waived eligibility criteria, enhancing funding opportunities. This initiative seeks to advance understanding and treatment of epilepsy through novel research avenues.

The Quality Improvement Awards, sponsored by the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF), aim to enhance patient safety during anesthesia care. This initiative invites current trainees and recent graduates to showcase their quality improvement projects. Winners will receive sponsorship to attend the Stoelting Conference in Massachusetts, where they will present their work. The APSF is committed to promoting a culture of safety and learning in anesthesia, ensuring that no one is harmed by anesthesia care.

The Irv and Irene Boersen Scholarship supports students from the Regional Synod of the Great Lakes pursuing a Master of Divinity at Western Theological Seminary. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and submit a FAFSA summary page. This renewable scholarship aims to cultivate future pastors and is awarded based on recommendations. It promotes educational access and community involvement, fostering a thriving environment in the Holland/Zeeland area.

The American Epilepsy Society's Junior Investigator Research Awards support early-career researchers in epilepsy. The awards, offering up to $50,000 for one year, aim to enhance the ability of new investigators to secure longer-term funding from sources like the NIH. Proposals are encouraged across a range of epilepsy research, including basic, translational, and clinical studies, as well as health services research. This initiative also includes complimentary membership to the AES Annual Meeting.

The American Epilepsy Society offers Research and Training Fellowships for Clinicians, providing up to $75,000 for one year to support clinical fellows or new faculty aiming to advance in epilepsy research. This fellowship encourages proposals across basic, translational, and clinical research. It also includes $1,000 for travel to the AES Annual Meeting, membership benefits, and complimentary registration, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing in the epilepsy research community.

The American Epilepsy Society offers Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to support trainees conducting research on epilepsy's causes, treatment, and consequences. These fellowships provide up to $49,000 for stipend and benefits, $1,000 for travel to the AES annual meeting, and complimentary membership. Proposals can be basic, translational, or clinical research, and the number of awards depends on available funding.

The Kent A. & Diana C. Morgan Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2019 as a legacy fund. It will provide scholarships for Marion County high school seniors and graduates pursuing a degree in the field of education, with special consideration given to applicants who demonstrate, through the applicant’s application, extraordinary financial need.
