Students will be evaluated on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service, work (paid or unpaid), and unmet financial need.

This scholarship assists graduating high school seniors from the Greater Newark area who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics, biology, botany, or chemistry. Applicants must have been accepted to a four-year accredited college/university within the United States and must be entering their freshman year in the fall. If you have not yet been accepted to a college or university, please do not apply at this time. Scholarships are based on merit and unmet financial need.

Applicants for this scholarship must be a female senior who is graduating from a New Jersey high school and a resident of Bergen or Hudson counties. The student must demonstrate outstanding personal character and leadership qualities and have been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university within the United States. Applicants are not necessarily required to be the top in the class, but must show outstanding potential, merit, and/or improvement. Scholarships are based on merit and unmet financial need.

This scholarship is awarded to a college-bound, graduating high school senior who is a resident of Sussex County; has demonstrated a significant first response commitment to serving their community; and has shown a willingness to help others in whatever way they can. Service before self — whether as an EMS, fire, or other volunteer emergency first responder — is important. Students must have achieved a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better.

This fund was created by a family who tried many therapies for their children and recognized how overwhelming the financial burden can become over time. Their passion is now focused on helping other families that may not have the financial means but want to provide essential therapies for their children. Watts Mountainside Community Foundation Scholarship

Blanche M. and George L. Watts were long-time Mountainside residents. Blanche was a school teacher and George was employed by Western Electric. When they passed, the Watts Mountainside Community Foundation was created to aid organizations delivering services to Mountainside residents and provide local students with scholarship assistance. Applicants for this scholarship must be Mountainside residents, may attend any high school inside or outside of Mountainside, and must be a graduating senior. Students must plan to continue their education at a two-year college or a four-year college/university or enroll in an associate degree program or a certificate program at an accredited technical or trade school.

The Jeanne Hazleton Scholarship for Midwifery and Doula Education was established in 2008 by Patrick Hazleton, husband of the late Jeanne Hazleton, and funded by numerous contributions made by family and friends. The purpose of the Jeanne Hazleton Scholarship Fund is to honor Jeanne’s lifetime service and contribution to the community as a practicing Doula and Midwife and to encourage women to enter or continue their education in the birthing profession. The Larry A. Mullins, DHA, Endowed Scholarship for Health Care Education scholarship was established in 2003 by the board of directors of Samaritan Health Services, Corvallis, Oregon. It was formed in honor of Dr. Mullins, the President/CEO of Samaritan Health Services (now retired), upon the completion of his doctoral degree in health care administration (DHA) from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Nursing Excellence Scholarship

The Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Nursing Excellence Scholarship was established in 2013 in honor/memory of outstanding Registered Nurses (RNs) at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon.

The Nursing Excellence Scholarship is available to eligible students pursuing RN, BSN or MSN degrees who show leadership and clinical expertise and excellence. At least one scholarship is awarded for tuition, books and school fees.

The Physical Oceanography Program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), promotes research into the ocean's structure and dynamics. It encompasses studies on ocean movement, transport mechanisms, and the interactions of physical, biological, and chemical processes. This program aims to enhance our understanding of how the ocean interacts with the atmosphere and surrounding geophysical elements, ultimately contributing to advancements in ocean sciences and climate studies.

The award is based on financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular school activities or employment, community service, and leadership qualities.

Tucker Baptist Association Scholarship

For a high school graduate who is also a member of a church which is part of the Tucker Baptist Association. The applicant must be enrolled in a seminary, Bible college, or other educational institution where they are training for a Christian gospel ministry vocation. This may include but is not limited to, training as a pastoral minister, youth minister, music minister, educational minister, or foreign or home missionary. The training may be a degree program such as a Masters of Divinity, etc., or the training may be a seminar or educational course related to ministry development.

Background

The Literary Arts Fund was established in 2025 to dramatically increase funding for and the visibility of the nonprofit literary arts field toward ensuring a healthy and more robust U.S. literary culture in support of creative writers. The fund will award at least $10 million in grants to the nonprofit literary arts field in each of the next five years, concluding in 2031. These grants are disbursed to nonprofits in a single payment and intended for use during the project period.
