The Austen Marie Path to Music Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Austen Marie Lynch to help support fellow musicians pursue a career in music, extending to others the opportunity to fulfill her own dream of becoming a career artist. Austen was a hardworking, tenacious, and talented musician. Her dream was to attend college and become a career musician. She was a singer, a songwriter, a guitarist, a poet, an artist, and a lover of ALL music. At 17 years old, Austen passed from a rare and terminal cancer in the comfort of her own bed surrounded by her loved ones, her guitars, and her record collection. 

This scholarship will be awarded to fellow musicians to attend school and fulfill their dream of becoming a career artist. There will be no GPA or academic requirement, but the applicant must show their dedication to music and ability to overcome life's challenges. Eligible applicants will be graduating seniors from a Nevada high school who plan to attend an institute of higher education to pursue a major or minor in music. This is a one-time award of up to $5,000 and has the potential to be renewed for additional years with reapplication.

The scholarship funds the undergraduate or graduate college education of first-generation young women of Portuguese, Mexican, Central American or South American ancestry, under the age of 25. For a resident of Baldwin County, AL. Graduate of any accredited high school including public schools, private schools, parochial schools and home schools. The student must be the son or daughter of a parent(s) who is an employed member of a Law Enforcement Agency that operates within Baldwin County or a student who plans to major in a Law Enforcement field, i.e., Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, etc. Students must have academic achievements necessary for entry into an accredited college or university. She was a teacher who went the extra mile for her students, and now whose legacy will be carried forward for northern Nevada students pursuing their postsecondary education. This scholarship is designed for students with a high level of academic achievement and community involvement, who plan to attend a school that has a strong program for their chosen major. Students must have a clearly demonstrated financial need. This scholarship is for students who plan to attend a college or technical program that is one, two, or four years. Multi-year scholarships may be awarded.
