The Association of North Texas Construction Professionals (ANTCP) Scholarship was opened in 2020. The ANTCP Scholarship is for students who are engaged in, OR whose family members have been engaged in, a construction trade. It is open to current college students residing in, OR graduating seniors of high schools in, Wichita, Archer, Clay or Wilbarger counties. There are (2) $1,500 ANTCP scholarships available each year, they can be used for any field of study at a 4-year college in the US, renewable for up to 4 years with a 2.5 cumulative GPA, OR a one-time scholarship for any vocational/trade program in the U.S.

The Bill Mahoney Memorial Scholarship was opened in 2021 by Bill's daughter, Mandy, to honor her father's memory. Mr. Mahoney was a long-time teacher of the Arts at Hirschi High School in Wichita Falls. This one-time scholarship, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, is for graduating seniors of WFISD attending any college, university, or vocational school and majoring in the Arts. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen.

The Elga Ann Denny Scholarship fund was created to benefit the graduating seniors of Iowa Park CISD. Elga Ann Denny was a long time resident of Iowa Park. Ms. Denny passed away in May 2022 at the age of 88. In her will, she left instructions to create a scholarship fund for the students of Iowa Park. These funds can be used at any college or trade school, for any field of study. There are a number of one-time $2,000 scholarships available, and (2) $4,000 renewable scholarships available, that could renew for up to 4 years based on GPA. 

The Sidney Awards, presented by the Sidney Hillman Foundation, celebrate outstanding journalism that serves the common good. Established to honor Sidney Hillman’s legacy, these monthly awards recognize investigative work and commentary that promote social justice. Nominations for the awards can be submitted for any medium, with a winner announced each month, receiving a $500 honorarium and a certificate. This initiative has been a prestigious platform for impactful storytelling for over 65 years.

The Jeanne Hazleton Scholarship for Midwifery and Doula Education was established in 2008 by Patrick Hazleton, husband of the late Jeanne Hazleton, and funded by numerous contributions made by family and friends. The purpose of the Jeanne Hazleton Scholarship Fund is to honor Jeanne’s lifetime service and contribution to the community as a practicing Doula and Midwife and to encourage women to enter or continue their education in the birthing profession. Blanche M. and George L. Watts were long-time Mountainside residents. Blanche was a school teacher and George was employed by Western Electric. When they passed, the Watts Mountainside Community Foundation was created to aid organizations delivering services to Mountainside residents and provide local students with scholarship assistance. Applicants for this scholarship must be Mountainside residents, may attend any high school inside or outside of Mountainside, and must be a graduating senior. Students must plan to continue their education at a two-year college or a four-year college/university or enroll in an associate degree program or a certificate program at an accredited technical or trade school.

The Jimmy and Ethel Harper Scholarship Fund, administered by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports students pursuing any area of study in the USA. Eligible applicants include full-time high school seniors, college students, and graduate students from Bexar County, who demonstrate good citizenship and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is renewable for up to three years and covers tuition, books, and supplies, ensuring that financial need is considered but not a determining factor.

Day of Dignity creates an opportunity for caring individuals from diverse communities to provide services to their neighbors in need. The Day of Dignity mission is to promote volunteerism, build relationships, and encourage local organizations to have a transformative impact on their unique community. Bookbags, school kits, jackets, and hygiene kits are some of the in-kind items provided by IRUSA to be distributed during Day of Dignity events. A grant is also given to help support the costs of food, entertainment, venue, etc. Free medical care, screenings, and even barber services can be offered out by the host organization at the event. The host organization is responsible for accommodating their community’s needs and reaching out to different services and vendors. The day is an effort to provide basic living essentials, medical care, and connect those in need to support services available to them in the long term.

To help our colleagues lend even more support to the causes they care about, the CVS Health Foundation offers grants for volunteer service. Funded through the Foundation, our Volunteer Challenge Grant program supports nonprofit organizations where our colleagues donate their time, with grants ranging from $150 to $3,000. The more hours our colleagues give — starting with just 10 logged hours — the more support the nonprofit of their choice can receive from the Foundation.

Volunteer Challenge Grants are awarded on behalf of individuals who volunteer 10, 25 or 100 or more hours of service, to teams that volunteer more than 50 hours of service, and to both individuals and teams who fundraise for a charitable run, walk or ride event.

Donor Story - Stahl, Josh Scholarship Fund

The Joshua Stahl Scholarship Fund was established in December 1999 by Michael Yoder. Mr. Yoder started this fund as a tribute to Josh Stahl, a friend of his son, Phillip. Joshua Stahl was a student at East Noble High School who died from a tragic car accident in 1999, but his love for running and his life is still remembered with the Josh Stahl Memorial Scholarship. Phillip Yoder dedicated his track season to his fallen friend and won the 1999 State Track Meet in the 3200 meters with a time of 9:06.
