About the Trust

For over 81 years, The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust has been providing financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that help those in need. The Trust's focus areas of giving include Health and Welfare, Dental/Oral Health, Recreational/Camperships (camp scholarships), Education and Homeless Shelters, our newest initiative. Our geographic giving areas include the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.

Health and Welfare

Impacting health and welfare organizations with grants that support capital projects for those with special needs, including the blind, deaf, learning disabled, elderly, youth and family service organizations, homeless shelters, and food banks to name a few.  

Dental Health

Expanding our reach to nonprofits that provide free dental clinics, and dental care to low income , needy populations to include children, families and the elderly through capital grants for dental equipment needs and program support.CampershipsEnhancing children's lives through camp scholarships that provide a child with an opportunity for a summer camping experience/summer enrichment who would otherwise be unable to attend without this scholarship support.EducationAdvancing education through scholarship support to community colleges and preselected four-year colleges and universities to needy students from rural areas. Grants are awarded directly to the institutions who select recipients based on the Trust's criteria.  The Trust is not accepting any unsolicited requests from community colleges, 4-year colleges or universities at this time. Homeless SheltersResponding to the needs and demands placed on homeless shelters due to socioeconomic factors that impact individuals due to unemployment, addiction, behavioral disorders and other circumstances. We strive to work together to end homelessness. Capital and operating support grants are available.Food Banks/ Food PantryRecognizing the escalating need placed on food pantries and food banks due to inflation and the increased costs of food and basic necessities, we are committed to working with organizations to eliminate food insecurity and are dedicated to making a lasting impact by providing support through capital and operating grants.

Citizens supports opportunities where our funding can have a significant and measurable community impact.

Contributions

Citizens focuses on two specific funding areas, supporting programs that:

• Teach Money Management by supporting financial literacy programs that provide individuals and businesses with the tools needed to be fiscally healthy.
• Strengthen Communities through economic development, job training and small business development.

We focus our funding on projects that serve diverse, underserved populations and neighborhoods and demonstrate strong results. We look to partner with established 501(c)(3) organizations with programs that strongly align with one or more of the above funding priorities.

Sponsorships

Citizens considers sponsorships from a wide range of organizations and encourages creativity and innovation to develop partnerships that benefit both community organizations and the bank. Citizens seeks sponsorships that create valuable, unique and memorable experiences for its customers, colleagues and communities.

Hannaford Charitable Foundation

We have a long history of supporting our communities through volunteerism, donations and community leadership. The Hannaford Charitable Foundation is one of many ways we support our communities.

The Foundation's mission is to invest in creating and sustaining healthy communities in our five-state region by providing financial support to nonprofit organizations and programs that focus on improvement of the root causes impacting the quality of life for our customers, associates and neighbors. Our areas of focus for financial support are food, education and health.

Focus Areas for support:

The Foundation supports organizations in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont that focus on one of the following core components of healthy communities:

• Food – We support programs with long-term solutions that will ensure safe, stable access to healthy food primarily through regional food banks in the markets we serve.
• Education – We help to deliver strong programs that prepare people through all stages of life for success in education and readiness to enter the workforce.
• Health – We support organizations that provide quality programs focusing on promoting healthy lifestyles and improved care.

In determining which organizations and programs to support, the Foundation considers

• the impact and outcomes to the community
• prior support from Hannaford Charitable Foundation
• relative uniqueness of the program versus others in the community.

NOTE: Full application grants are reviewed in March, June, September and December. Please submit your grant by March, June, September or December of the quarter you need to have your grant reviewed. We strive to review your grant in a timely manner and may have follow up questions. Therefore, we need to adhere to a strict review schedule and will not be able to accommodate last minute requests.

HOPE Foundation

The HOPE (Hypertherm Owners’ Philanthropic Endeavors) Foundation was founded in 2010 as a public grant-making nonprofit 501(c)(3) foundation to formalize the U.S.-based financial giving we had been doing for decades across a handful of focus areas. In New Hampshire, a dozen volunteer Associates, representing a cross-section of areas within our company, comprise the Upper Valley HOPE Team and make all grant allocation decisions on behalf of the Foundation. We have similar shared decision-making HOPE teams in all our regional offices, each serving their respective communities.

Our HOPE Teams have awarded millions of dollars in grant support to hundreds of nonprofit organizations working on our shared mission of creating sustainable, positive change in the community and environment.

HOPE Foundation Grant

Hypertherm’s philanthropic mission is enriching our Associate-owner communities as a catalyst for collaboration and compassion, inspiring solutions for sustainable positive change.

HOPE Foundation grant decisions are made by the HOPE team comprised of Hypertherm Associates from all areas of the company. This team meets quarterly to review grant requests and typically communicates all decisions soon thereafter. If approved, you can expect to receive funds within two months of notification. It is important to note that depending on when your application is submitted within our quarterly review cycle, it could take six months before funds are received by your organization. Please plan your request accordingly based on your needs and our review cycle.

Our pledge to the communities we serve is that we will invest in people and organizations who make a lasting impact. Each year we give at least 10% of our earnings to area charitable organizations.

Since 1994, we've given over $11 million in grants to local organizations, and we're not even close to being done! We connect with and invest in those making a positive impact in our communities.

Our Community Promise Program

To enhance our communities and improve quality of life for the people within them, Kennebunk Savings offers direct grants, as well as sponsorships in five key categories:

Your organization can request funding online, through a banking office, or through a lending officer. Our Community Promise Committee meets regularly to review requests. Decisions are based on potential impact in the community, support from others in the private and public sector, and relevance to the Community Promise goals.

Guidelines

Grants from National Trust Preservation Funds (NTPF) are intended to encourage preservation at the local level by supporting on-going preservation work and by providing seed money for preservation projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for preservation projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private sector.

A small grant at the right time can go a long way and is often the catalyst that inspires a community to take action on a preservation project. Grants generally start at $2,500 and range up to $5,000. The selection process is very competitive.

Eligible Activities

National Trust Preservation Fund grants are awarded for planning activities and education efforts focused on preservation. Grant funds can be used to launch new initiatives or to provide additional support to on-going efforts.

Planning: Supporting existing staff (nonprofit applicants only) or obtaining professional expertise in areas such as architecture, archaeology, engineering, preservation planning, land-use planning, and law. Eligible planning activities include, but are not limited to:

• Hiring a preservation architect or landscape architect, or funding existing staff with expertise in these areas, to produce a historic structure report or historic landscape master plan.
• Hiring a preservation planner, or funding existing staff with expertise in this area, to produce design guidelines for a historic district.
• Hiring a real estate development consultant, or funding existing staff with expertise in this area, to produce an economic feasibility study for the reuse of a threatened structure.
• Sponsoring a community forum to develop a shared vision for the future of a historic neighborhood.
• Organizational capacity building activities such as hiring fundraising consultants, conducting board training, etc.

Education and Outreach: Support for preservation education activities aimed at the public. The National Trust is particularly interested in programs aimed at reaching new audiences. Funding will be provided to projects that employ innovative techniques and formats aimed at introducing new audiences to the preservation movement, whether that be through education programming or conference sessions.

Mission

The Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation was established in 1973. The Foundation's 3 primary focus areas reflect Mr. Balfour's strong affinity for the employees of the Balfour Company, his commitment to the city of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and his lifelong interest in education. Specifically, the Balfour Foundation supports:

• Educational scholarships to employees of the Balfour Company, as well as to their children and grandchildren
• Organizations serving the people of Attleboro, with special consideration given to those organizations that provide educational, human services and health care programming for underserved populations
• Educational organizations that serve New England

Educational Organizations

The Foundation's educational funding is generally focused on organizations or programs that provide support for underserved or under-represented populations to prepare for, access and succeed in higher education, including 2-year and 4-year institutions.

It is clear that Mr. Balfour was interested in supporting students for successful completion of college. As such, the Foundation focuses its grantmaking in the New England area on programs that support college readiness, access, and success. The Foundation is most interested in programs that support students all the way into and through post-secondary credential attainment (2- or 4-year credentials). Programs within institutions of higher education aimed at attracting, supporting, and retaining (through successful completion) under-served and under-represented populations are also of interest. In this area, we will consider applications that request scholarship funds, if those scholarships are part of a broader set of services and supports.

The Richard E. & Nancy P. Marriott Foundation

Mission

We are dedicated to uplifting communities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area through strong, innovative partnerships.

Our Approach

We are dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations primarily located in the Washington, D.C. metro area. This includes a focus on helping youth secure a promising future, especially through early childhood education, mentoring and youth leadership programs. Equally important are organizations that help offer relief from hunger and homelessness; provide prospects for people to lead healthy lives; and create gainful employment opportunities for vulnerable youth and adults.

Each year the Foundation awards approximately 150 grants totaling $1.8 million across two program areas:

Education

The Richard E. and Nancy P. Marriott Foundation believes that every child deserves the opportunity to receive a quality education regardless of background. Our strategy strives to uplift the children of Washington, D.C. by investing in partners that support and develop the birth to five continuum.

Early Childhood Development

The ages from birth to five play a crucial role in a child’s life, especially those children from homes of underserved areas. Studies show that a child’s brain development from birth to three years old is the foundation for all future learning. We look for partnerships that provide children from birth to three the emotional, behavioral, and educational support they need to be ready for Pre-K and beyond. In addition the quality of education children receive as three and four year olds plays a significant role in their later academic success. By supporting high quality Pre-K programs, we believe the achievement gap between low income children and more affluent children can be closed.

Human Services

The Richard E. and Nancy P. Marriott Foundation believes that the fulfillment of basic individual needs is an essential part of achieving a strong and sustainable community. To lead a healthy and productive life, individuals need continual access to adequate food, a safe and secure home, and the dignity of productive employment. We focus on partnerships that uplift communities and strengthen the individual members by ensuring food security for vulnerable populations and developing a workforce that can support the community.

Gainful Employment Opportunities

We believe that employment provides more than just financial benefits; it connects the individual to the community and builds self-esteem. While most everyone wants a job, it can be hard for those with limited or out-dated skills and those reintegrating to the community to find a stable job. Our partners provide the job training and employment counseling that help individuals prepare for the job market and find opportunities at livable wages. With the Marriott family’s long history in the hospitality industry, we have a special focus on programs with the hospitality and technology industries where diverse people can succeed along many paths.

Funding Request Range

Grants from the Foundation typically support general operations. First-time requests are advised to be in the $5,000-$10,000 range.

The FishAmerica Foundation is soliciting projects from grassroots, nonprofit organizations conducting projects designed to improve sport fish populations, aquatic habitat, or water quality. Projects must be conducted in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, New Hampshire, or Washington (state). Grants are limited to a maximum of $25,000 but smaller projects are encouraged to apply. Matching funds are desirable but not required.

“Hands-on” projects designed to directly improve water quality or aquatic habitat for recreational species are eligible for funding.
