The New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism (NJTT) is pleased to offer the Cooperative Marketing Grants, Destination Marketing Organization Grants, and the NJ Agri-Tourism Grant Program. Each grant program aligns with the Division’s goal of promoting and marketing New Jersey as a premier destination.

 Agri-Tourism Grant Program 

The Agri-Tourism Grant Program is a collaboration between the New Jersey Department of State, Division of Travel and Tourism and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture travel industry. As a result, the New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program was created to support New Jersey Agritourism businesses to promote the expansion, diversification, and sustainability of New Jersey’s Agritourism industry.

The Agri-Tourism grant is open to New Jersey organizations who can demonstrate a significant interest in supporting New Jersey’s Agri-Tourism businesses in their efforts to attract, entertain and educate visitors.

The Edward W. and Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund Grant, established in 1978 in New Jersey, supports health, education, and human services. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt to apply, with a deadline of August 1 for September meetings. The foundation prioritizes agencies serving sick or disabled individuals, orphaned children, and those in the nursing profession. Scholarships and educational initiatives are also funded, benefiting Bergen and Passaic Counties.

The Knight Family Charitable Foundation, established by Peg and Bill Knight, focuses on enhancing community welfare through humanitarian support, education, and the arts. It aims to protect native wildlife and their habitats while promoting projects aligned with its mission. The foundation continues the legacy of giving back, inspired by the Knights' lifelong commitment to community service. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations are eligible for support, fostering initiatives that resonate with the foundation's vision.

The Department awards grants from State appropriations, federal awards, and other funding sources. Since the award and appropriation of these funds do not always conform to the State Fiscal Year, the information included in this directory is based on anticipated grant awards that will begin in the period from July 1 through June 30 of each State Fiscal Year. The ability of the Department to make grant awards is expressly dependent upon the availability of funds appropriated by the State Legislature from State and/or federal revenue or such other funding sources as may be applicable.

Pediatric Mental Health Care Access NOFA

To expand the statewide pediatric mental health telehealth access program, and to promote early intervention and behavioral health integration in primary care. Training and technical assistance on the use of evidence based practices and methods will be provided to primary care pediatric providers over a 3 year period to conduct early intervention/identification, diagnosis, and treatment for children/youth with behavioral health conditions.

Nature's Path's Gardens for Good program empowers communities by funding organic gardens that address food insecurity. Since 2010, it has donated $930,000 CAD to support 120 gardens. In 2023, grants of $6,500 each will be awarded to 20 gardens across the U.S. and Canada. Eligible applicants must be registered non-profits with urban organic agriculture projects that serve low-income communities, promoting sustainable practices and inclusivity.

The NRA Foundation offers grants in New Jersey to support charitable initiatives that align with its mission to promote firearms safety, education, and shooting sports. Eligible organizations must have a valid IRS 501(c)(3) status or be a recognized governmental entity. The grants aim to foster public benefit and support activities that educate and engage the community in responsible firearm use. Ineligible entities include labor organizations and individuals, emphasizing the Foundation's focus on charitable purposes.

The CFNJ: Dixon Community Theatre Support Grant offers financial assistance to small theatre companies in New Jersey, promoting sustainability and growth within the vibrant local arts scene. This grant acknowledges the essential contributions of these organizations to their communities, aiming to support initiatives that are community-driven and equity-informed. Awards will range from $5,000 to $10,000, providing crucial resources to enhance cultural engagement and accessibility in underserved areas.

The A. Van Deusen Young Artist and Musicians Grant, provided by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, aims to empower nonprofit organizations that nurture young artists and musicians. With funding between $5,000 and $25,000, this grant supports initiatives that foster creativity and artistic expression, ensuring that the next generation of talent in New Jersey has access to essential resources and mentorship. The grant embodies the foundation's commitment to equity and community-driven solutions.

The CFNJ: Rose Anthony Howard and Elizabeth V. Brinley Next Generation Grant focuses on empowering small to midsize nonprofits in New Jersey that provide essential services to children. It aims to uplift underserved youth through educational programs, mentorship, and recreational opportunities. The grant supports initiatives that promote equity and community-driven solutions, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 for impactful projects that address the needs of historically underserved communities.

The Great Companions Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, supports non-profit organizations that assist companion animals in New Jersey, including dogs, cats, and horses. The fund emphasizes community-driven initiatives that address inequities and serve historically underserved populations. With grant awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, priority is given to smaller organizations with annual budgets under $1 million, fostering innovative solutions in animal welfare.

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

The Boskey Memorial Foundation Grant, established in 2000, honors James B. Boskey and promotes advocacy in children's rights, disability, LGBTQIA rights, and access to STEM education. With a focus on improving opportunities for the disadvantaged, the foundation supports research and education initiatives in New Jersey and New York. The foundation welcomes proposals related to mediation, reproductive justice, and housing justice, as well as co-funding opportunities with like-minded organizations.

The George I. Alden Trust offers a Higher Education Grant aimed at supporting independent colleges and universities in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The Trust prioritizes capital needs to enhance the educational experience, approving grants up to $100,000 for first-time applicants. Eligible institutions must have a minimum of 1,000 full-time undergraduate students and demonstrate a commitment to educational excellence and effective administration.

The Rural Business Development Grants in New Jersey aim to enhance economic development and create jobs through financial support for eligible entities. Grants are available in two categories: Opportunity grants, which prioritize smaller requests, and Enterprise grants, designed for projects benefiting small and emerging businesses in rural areas. These grants can be utilized for various purposes, including training, land acquisition, pollution control, and community development, fostering sustainable growth in rural communities.

The NJDEP: It Pay$ to Plug In Grant offers financial support for the acquisition and upkeep of electric vehicle charging stations. Aimed at expanding New Jersey's electric vehicle infrastructure, this initiative encourages residents, businesses, and government entities to transition to electric vehicles, which significantly lower emissions and enhance air quality. In honor of Earth Day, approximately $7.6 million will be allocated for fast chargers, utilizing VW settlement funds and additional financial resources.

The Encova Foundation of West Virginia is dedicated to improving communities by supporting local causes that align with the values of its associates and policyholders. They focus on health, education, and wellness, emphasizing the importance of children's success. Organizations applying for grants must be U.S.-based and verified as charitable. Preference is given to initiatives impacting health and education, especially those involving Encova associates as active participants.

The Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) offers counties in New Jersey up to $75,000 to hire or designate a Shared Services Coordinator. This initiative encourages collaboration among local government entities to identify and implement shared services, enhancing efficiency in operations. As a rolling application process, interested parties are urged to apply promptly due to the program's popularity and limited funding. The grant supports the state's goal of fostering shared services across municipalities, school districts, and various authorities.

The Neighborhood Builders Program, supported by Bank of America, empowers 501(c)(3) nonprofits through a two-year leadership development initiative. Participants receive funding, training, and networking opportunities to enhance their impact in communities. Since its inception, the program has invested over $346 million, training more than 4,000 leaders. The initiative focuses on advancing social mobility and economic opportunities, ensuring affordable housing, and fostering resilient communities. This program is vital for nonprofits aiming to strengthen their leadership and community engagement.

Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP)

In 2019, DLGS established the Local Assistance Bureau (LAB) to provide direct support to local government entities in a variety of ways. This includes a key collaboration with the Czars and local governments to identify and implement shared services opportunities across the state.

The Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) is a natural extension of this mission.

The LEAP affords an unprecedented opportunity to incentivize shared services implementation across New Jersey’s local government entities, advancing the mission of the Shared Services Program. The LEAP facilitates exploring and establishing shared services. The LEAP provides counties, municipalities, school districts, commissions, authorities, and fire districts assistance for the study or implementation of promising shared services projects undertaken pursuant to the Uniform Shared Service and Consolidation Act. The program is available to all New Jersey local government entities.

Challenge Grant (NJ)

Allocates funds to the most compelling projects in potentially each of New Jersey’s twenty-one counties, affording municipalities, authorities, and counties the opportunity to compete for grant funding to support efficiency-generating shared services. This grant program is designed to promote innovation among peer communities and counties across New Jersey, and challenge municipalities and counties to collaborate on more extensive partnerships that produce shared services of greater significance than is customary.

Funding

Funding in the amount of $150,000 is available within each New Jersey County. Up to three (3) grants per county may be awarded.

The Cigna Group Foundation is launching the Improving Youth Mental Health Grant, committing $9 million over three years to enhance mental health support for youth aged five to 18. This initiative targets post-pandemic challenges, offering resources to parents, caregivers, and youth service professionals. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding between $100,000 and $150,000 to develop programs that promote social-emotional skills, enhance caregiver support, and improve access to mental health interventions in underserved communities.

The Community Facilities Grant Program in New Jersey offers essential funding to develop community facilities in rural areas, supporting projects that serve local populations. Eligible areas include rural communities with populations under 20,000. Funds may be used for purchasing, constructing, or improving facilities that deliver vital services, such as health care, education, and public safety. This program aims to enhance community infrastructure and support underserved populations throughout the state.

Implementation Grant (NJ)

Allocates funds to help cover costs associated with new shared service implementation. These include one-time reimbursable costs for project completion or transition support which may include, but is not limited to, new technology costs incurred as part of equipping a new shared services program, rebranding costs, equipment and vehicle outlays, professional services, rent for facilities, payroll system conversion costs, and training. Funding is based on the total transition or implementation cost of a project. Transitional costs incurred by participant(s) are filtered through the application lead (applicant).

Funding

Local government entity implementation support shall not exceed $400,000 per project, which may account for up to a maximum of 75% of implementation expenses incurred. The amount awarded for any school consolidation feasibility study may account for up to 100% of study costs, depending upon application quality, project composition and participation, and value provided.

The Essential Foundation Grants aim to enhance the quality of life in communities served by Aqua and Peoples, supporting nonprofit organizations dedicated to environmental initiatives, education, and emergency services. With a strong commitment to corporate philanthropy and employee volunteerism, the foundation focuses on funding projects that promote community growth while ensuring compliance with nondiscrimination laws. This initiative reflects Essential Utilities' dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of over 5 million people across nine states.

The Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program in New Jersey provides essential funding for the development of clean drinking water systems, sewage disposal, solid waste management, and storm water drainage in eligible rural areas. This initiative supports local governments, nonprofits, and tribes that struggle to secure commercial credit. Eligible projects include construction and improvement of water infrastructure, ensuring reliable services for communities with populations of 10,000 or less.

Unless noted otherwise in the scholarship description and criteria statement, applicants can attend accredited schools of their choice within the United States.

CFNJ scholarships awards vary. On average, awards range from $500 to $2,500. However, the award could be larger based on the number of qualified applicants and the parameters set by donors who have established the funds. 

Morristown Neighborhood House Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior from Morristown or Morris Township who has an affiliation with Morristown Neighborhood House. Applicants must be be pursuing a postsecondary education at an accredited four-year, two-year, or nonprofit technical school (certificate program).

The Ruth Danley and William Enoch Moore Charitable Fund Grant is a private foundation based in Pittsburgh, established in 1992. It focuses on philanthropy, specifically supporting K-12 education for Native American children living on reservations. The foundation directs its grants primarily to regions preferred by donors, including several states in the Northeast and Midwest, aiming to improve educational opportunities and foster community development in underserved populations.

The Corrine and Henry Bower Memorial Foundation Grant offers approximately $35,000 annually to support wellness, education, and visual arts programs in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. The foundation prioritizes year-round programming, measurable outcomes, and collaboration with other organizations. However, it does not fund general operating costs, new programs, or for-profit entities. Eligible applicants must have a proven track record of service and demonstrate financial accountability.
