NCRC Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) - Housing Counseling Services

The Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) empowers NCRC network members to level up established service lines.

The Housing Counseling Services series within FEF supports HUD-approved housing counseling agencies in driving homeownership, such as through pre-purchase counseling. In addition, the program builds agency knowledge on heirs’ property challenges to better equip first-time and low-income homebuying households with the know-how to retain intergenerational wealth.

In doing so, FEF-HCS aims to help underserved families begin their homeownership journey, with an additional goal of ensuring foresight into the long-term future of their home purchase.

The FEF-HCS series is funded in partnership with Key Bank and HSBC, and targets communities within the Key Bank and HSBC branch footprints.

Through these partnerships, $2.5 million in Key Bank geographies and $1.5 million in HSBC geographies has been allocated for the subgrants for direct-to-client housing counseling services that will be awarded in three rounds in the FEF-HCS track.

Funding Support

Awardee agencies will receive subgrants to support their housing counseling services to clients.

Knowledge Building

Awardee agencies will attend a training session on heirs’ property challenges and best practices, hosted by NCRC National Training Academy. Bolstering counselor knowledge on this topic will ensure that your agency is not only serving clients in their personal wealth-building journey now, but also helping them preserve that wealth in generations to come.

The Corporate Giving Program by the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation focuses on supporting nonprofit organizations within specific states. They prioritize initiatives that enhance community welfare, especially in agriculture, education, health, and environmental sustainability. Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status to apply, and preference is given to those involving Perdue associates. Ineligible requests include those from religious, political, or individual-focused groups. This program emphasizes broad community benefits over organizational affiliations.

The HRiA Robert E. Leet and Clara Guthrie Patterson Trust Mentored Research Award aims to promote research on human diseases by supporting early-stage postdoctoral and clinical investigators. Established in 1980, the program encourages innovative pilot studies across various disciplines and aims to enhance the transition to independence for researchers. With a two-year award of $200,000 available to applicants in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, it prioritizes diversity and inclusion in biomedical research.

PLTW Engineering - New Program In Partnership With Ardagh Group

Ardagh Group has partnered with PLTW to support education in its local communities where Ardagh employees live and work. This partnership recognizes the critical role education, and access to education, plays in ensuring equal opportunities and in building successful, vibrant communities. It is expected that over the next 10 years, Ardagh sponsored education programs will benefit more than 500,000 PreK-12 students as well as delivering best-in-class teacher training to more than 5,000 teachers across 2,000 schools in Ardagh's U.S. communities.

Program Requirements

The purpose of this grant is to assist the grantee's implementation of the PLTW Engineering program. Grantee must offer the PLTW Engineering program for three academic years. Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Engineering course in the 2027-2028 academic year and must offer one additional course in the 2028-2029 academic year (two different courses in two years). Grantee may implement any PLTW Engineering courses of their choosing. Grantee must complete three years of grant reporting.

By addressing barriers to growth and promoting access to capital and education, the Truist Foundation strives to create equitable opportunities for all.

The FirstBank Charitable Foundation (FBCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2008, focused on supporting charitable organizations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. With over a million dollars awarded, FBCF aims to enhance community well-being through partnerships in health, housing, and education. Nonprofits aligning with FBCF's mission and demonstrating significant service impact are encouraged to apply for grants, fostering a stronger fabric within their neighborhoods.

The Citizens Philanthropic Foundation Grant for Financial Empowerment supports nonprofit organizations focused on providing financial education to low- and moderate-income individuals. The foundation prioritizes projects that demonstrate measurable impact, particularly those serving diverse populations in NJ and Metro New York. Eligible applicants must be IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) organizations and align their proposals with the foundation's goals of fostering financial literacy and collaboration with Citizens colleagues.

The Citizens Philanthropic Foundation Grant focuses on Workforce Development and Financial Empowerment, supporting nonprofits that create measurable impacts through innovative programs. Eligible organizations must be IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) entities located in NJ or Metro New York. The foundation prioritizes grant applications that demonstrate alignment with its goals and emphasize partnerships that foster colleague engagement and volunteerism. Funding is aimed at projects that serve diverse, underserved populations, and exclude certain organizations and activities.

The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program provides opportunities for New Jersey communities to enhance academic enrichment and support for students in grades three through twelve. This competitive grant program encourages organizations to offer a variety of services, including tutoring, youth development, and family engagement initiatives. Eligible entities include non-profits, schools, and local government agencies, aiming to address the needs of students in low-performing schools.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance Smithsonian Fellowship offers unique research opportunities for graduate students from member universities. Eligible candidates can conduct research at the Smithsonian in diverse fields such as anthropology, ecology, and history of science. The fellowship provides a stipend of $45,000 per year, with additional research allowances, and supports both U.S. and international students. This initiative fosters collaboration among leading academic institutions to advance knowledge and innovation.

What is a Community Foundation?

Kenneth K. Mills Scholarship

Multi-year award averaging $500 per year for graduates of Shepaug Valley High School who will be/are attending Rutgers University.

The Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust, managed by Wells Fargo Bank, supports 501(c)(3) organizations primarily in New Jersey. It funds a variety of areas including education, health, and the arts, with grants typically ranging from $15,000 to $25,000. The Trust prioritizes requests that demonstrate community need and administrative stability, while excluding individuals and for-profit entities. New Jersey Department of Health

TB Prevention and Control Regional TB Specialty Clinic Services

Purpose for Which the Grant Program Funds Shall be Used

To provide clinical care, treatment, nurse case management and/or outreach services to TB cases and suspects, their associated contacts and Class B1/B2 immigrants and refugees for a defined group of local health jurisdictions.

The CFNJ Empower New Jersey Grant, offered by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, supports organizations in New Jersey focused on economic empowerment. This initiative aims to enhance economic stability, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and financial literacy through effective projects. With a history of granting over $100 million to non-profits, CFNJ seeks to fund innovative programs that foster access to opportunities. Up to two grants will be awarded, reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to community progress.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools to implement the PLTW Engineering program for the 2025-2026 academic year and beyond. Eligible institutions include public, private, and charter schools located in the US. Grant recipients will receive funding to cover participation fees and training costs. Total funding amounts to $16,000, distributed over three years. Schools are encouraged to create pathways for students in engineering through this initiative.

Healthy Women Healthy Families NOFA

Maternal and infant mortality and morbidity reduction activities focusing on racial and health disparities to improve health outcomes for women and infants. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Prevention NOFA

To develop regional projects to prevent alcohol and drug use before, during, and after pregnancy. To increase the number of pregnant women screened for risk of substance use/abuse and refer them to appropriate services. Provide state wide education and leadership training for CHWs, doulas and peer mentors (frontline staff) specifically related to working with vulnerable birthing people.

With an average grant size of $12,000, they prioritize new initiatives with budgets under $350,000. The foundation emphasizes community organizing, civil rights, and empowering marginalized groups. Eligible applicants must be associated with a nonprofit organization and demonstrate a commitment to local leadership and broader policy connections. The board meets biannually to decide on approximately 15 grants per year, focusing mainly on general support.

Doula Learning Collaborative NOFA

The purpose of the NJDLC is to be the professional home for community doulas throughout the State of NJ. The goal of the DLC is to reduce maternal and infant mortality and eliminate racial disparities in health outcomes by providing training, workforce development, supervision support and mentor support, technical assistance for community doulas and doula organizations throughout the State of NJ. A focus for the DLC will be to develop and support the doula workforce that delivers doula care to NJ’s Medicaid and CHIP members as enrolled NJ FamilyCare providers.

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) offers grants for schools to implement the PLTW Computer Science program from 2025 to 2028. Schools must provide at least one PLTW course in the first year and two courses in the second year. The total grant is $14,000, covering participation fees and training costs. The SSUS Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program, administered by the New Jersey Department of Health, aims to enhance housing stability for low-income individuals living with HIV. This initiative provides tenant-based rental assistance and security deposit support, promoting access to essential services. The Coby Foundation Grant is dedicated to supporting non-profit organizations in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions, focusing on innovative projects related to textiles and fashion. Applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of inquiry with a project description and budget at least nine months prior to the project start. The foundation seeks exhibitions, public programs, and publications that enhance understanding of textile arts, while promoting underrepresented artists and cultures.

The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Grant Program, managed by the New Jersey Department of Health, aims to provide essential clinical and supportive services for residents living with ALS and their families. This initiative focuses on enhancing safety and quality of life through accessible clinical care, home modifications, and support services. By fostering community-based care, the program ensures individuals with ALS can maintain their independence and receive comprehensive support in their daily lives.
