The scholarship committee will consider the applicant’s experience participating in school or community activities and job or volunteer activities, as well as his or her commitment to academic excellence and financial need. Previous recipients of this award are eligible to reapply.

Don and Mable Nicholls Scholarship

Previous recipients of this award are eligible to reapply.

OD to PhD Scholarship Program

The OD/PhD Scholarship Program funds optometrists receiving a PhD in eye and vision related fields. Examples of appropriate PhD programs include but are not limited to: Vision Science, Physiological Optics, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Education (emphasis on Optometric Education), Neuroscience, and Psychology. The program provides vital support to those who will teach and lead the next generation of optometry students and advance the profession’s cutting-edge research.

The American Academy of Optometry Foundation is proud to partner with EssilorLuxottica to offer the OD to PhD Fellowship, an opportunity created to support optometrists who are ready to take the next step into vision science research. This fellowship is open to individuals who have completed or are completing the clinical training required for the optometry degree and who are enrolling in a PhD program in vision science or a related biomedical discipline.

This competitive fellowship provides financial support during the early years of doctoral training. Awardees receive funding in their first year and may receive additional support in the second year based on successful academic and research progress as detailed in their annual progress report.

Note, awardees may receive the fellowship for up to one successive, two-year period.

Doris L. Kenney Memorial Scholarship

Recipients may reapply in subsequent years if they have maintained a 3.5 GPA during the preceding year. Consideration is also given to candidates who have had their schooling interrupted for any of a variety of reasons, and applicants pursuing their academic preparation, making a career change or retraining in a different field of endeavor.

The Baptist Foundation of South Carolina supports churches and ministries with grants aimed at 'Kingdom Growth' projects. Priority is given to local Baptist associations and convention entities. Eligible projects can receive up to 80% funding, ensuring that impactful ministry initiatives thrive within the community.

The Daryl Jones Memorial Scholarship honors a beloved coach and mentor from the Dayton area. It is designed for high school graduates who aspire to follow in his footsteps by pursuing a career in education or mentorship. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be accepted into a two- or four-year college. This scholarship aims to support those who embody Daryl's values of community, teamwork, and dedication.

The Louis P. Gianoli Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, supports graduating seniors from New Britain High School or E.C. Goodwin Technical High School. This award recognizes students who have demonstrated resilience, personal discipline, and the ability to overcome adversity. Candidates must be recommended by a teacher or guidance counselor to apply. The scholarship aims to empower students in their educational pursuits and personal development.

Inez Peppers Lovett and Charlie Ellington Scholarship Fund

Founded by Inez Peppers Lovett and Charlie Lovett Ellington, this scholarship is available to African-American graduating senior from any Palm Beach County high school who will be pursuing a career in elementary education.

The Transformational Partnerships Fund offers Seed Grants of up to $10,000 to colleges and universities seeking to explore partnerships that can enhance their operations. These grants support events aimed at fostering collaboration among leadership and stakeholders, paving the way for transformative initiatives. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, encouraging institutions to engage actively in crafting sustainable solutions centered on student success.

Grants for Research About Urban Communication Issues

Since our launch in 2005, the Urban Communication Foundation has provided awards and grants to dozens of distinguished scholars, researchers, and journalists to recognize and support provocative work that contributes in significant ways to the discourse around urban communication issues.

While most of our recipients hail from academia and journalism, we also encourage submissions from other practitioners whose work will lend new insights into the discipline, raise broader awareness of related socio-political, economic, and cultural concerns, or influence public policy.

Gene Burd Grant for Research in Urban Journalism Studies

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication has partnered with the Urban Communication Foundation to create the Gene Burd Grant for Research in Urban Journalism Studies. The purpose of this annual grant is to stimulate research that explains, enlightens, inspires, and improves the practice and study of journalism and communication in order to advance our understanding of journalism in urban environments.

Preference is given to those of Italian descent and active members of their high school Italian Clubs. The Festa Italiana Reverend Father Augustine Henry Giusani Humanitarian Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, supports high school seniors and college students from specific Connecticut towns majoring in social sciences. Preference is given to students of Italian descent and those affiliated with Italian organizations. The Eleanor and Nathan Berry Scholarship, offered by The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, supports high school seniors from local towns who aim to pursue a full-time bachelor's degree at accredited institutions. The New York Health Foundation is offering sponsorship for nonprofits and community organizations to participate in conferences that support healthy communities, consumer empowerment, and veterans' health. This initiative aims to enhance the visibility of innovative work being done in New York, particularly for those historically marginalized. By facilitating attendance at local, state, and national events, the Foundation seeks to empower organizations to showcase their impactful programs and connect with key stakeholders.

The Helen M. Free Award for Public Outreach, established by the American Chemical Society, recognizes outstanding volunteer achievements in public outreach that enhance public appreciation for chemistry. Awardees, selected based on their advocacy, creativity, and impact, receive a crystal award and a $2,000 prize. Nominees must be ACS members whose volunteer efforts have significantly increased public awareness of chemistry's importance. This annual award highlights activities that engage diverse audiences, promoting the significance of chemical sciences in everyday life.

The Crooked Stick Endowed Scholarship, established by Crooked Stick Golf Club, aims to support students from Central Indiana pursuing post-secondary education with a strong interest in golf. Jacob Branen Memorial Scholarship Fund

Jacob was joyful and determined; two traits that helped him overcome the learning and physical challenges presented by his cerebral palsy. He exceeded all expectations and successfully completed his senior year without an IEP for the first time in his education. He went on to achieve a BA in Anthropology from FAU, focused on archaeology. He followed his passion by completing a “dig school” with Boston and Hebrew Universities at Tel Dor in Israel. His family was heartbroken when he was killed in an accident on his way to work at age 29. The memory of his gregarious laugh, kind heartedness and generous spirit lives on. He would have been deeply gratified to know another overcoming student would be helped in his name.

The Christopher Maerz Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, supports graduating seniors or past graduates from New Britain or Berlin high schools pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related medical field. Applicants must maintain a C+ average and demonstrate financial need, with a preference for first-generation college students committed to healthcare. This initiative aims to foster skilled, compassionate care in the community.

The Jake Arndt Memorial Scholarship, managed by The Community Foundation for McHenry County, supports students dedicated to the Woodstock community pursuing higher education. This scholarship honors Jake Arndt, a beloved individual known for his kindness and community involvement. Applicants must demonstrate community engagement and may receive preference if they have athletic backgrounds or financial need. In total, CFMC allocates $50,000 annually in scholarships to empower local students in their educational pursuits.

Ferro Scholars Fund

The applicant must demonstrate a desire to make a positive social impact after graduation within their field of study, or demonstrate a desire to become involved on a volunteer basis.

This is not a need based scholarship.

The NRF Foundation Student Ambassador Program offers NRF University Members the chance to appoint a student as their campus representative for a year. This role allows ambassadors to connect the NRF Foundation with their campus, fostering a community of retail advocates. Responsibilities include promoting NRF programs and events, enhancing student participation in the NRF Student Association, and cultivating leadership skills. Ideal candidates are motivated, resourceful, and ready to lead their peers in engagement activities.

The Medical Student Research Award, funded by the American College of Gastroenterology, offers U.S. and Canadian medical students a unique opportunity for summer research experiences in gastroenterology and hepatology. This award promotes interest in these fields through mentored projects, covering living expenses and travel to the ACG Annual Scientific meeting. Since 1994, over $31.89 million has been awarded, supporting more than 745 recipients, making it a vital program for aspiring researchers.
