The Community Foundation is honored to have a variety of scholarship funds established by individuals and groups of donors for the purpose of helping younger generations of Nantucketers further their education. Each fund is unique, and criteria and goals of the scholarship vary for each scholarship.

The Community Foundation for Nantucket awards more than $90,000 in scholarships each year. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000. The most common award is $2,000. While some awards may be higher than this amount, no award amount will be lower than $1000.

Ann and Michael Rosenblatt Women in Mathematics Scholarship Fund

Provide tuition assistance to female students who excel in mathematics.

The Bexley Community Foundation offers semi-annual grants aimed at projects that enhance the Bexley community experience. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and government agencies, while faith-based organizations can apply for non-religious initiatives. The Foundation emphasizes fairness and equity in participation, ensuring no arbitrary barriers exist. Ineligible projects include endowment funds, fundraising expenses, and those aimed at influencing legislation. This grant encourages creativity and community involvement through its funding opportunities.

The Radiance Gives Fund Grant, established in 2022 by Radiance Technologies, supports 501(c)(3) organizations in local communities. This employee-run charitable initiative ensures that 100% of contributions go directly to grant awards, enhancing community impact. With no administrative fees deducted, Radiance empowers its employees to make meaningful contributions to the causes they care about, fostering a culture of giving and community support.

The William and Minnette Goldsmith Foundation Grant supports tax-exempt organizations and government entities serving Stark County, Ohio. Established through a bequest in 1979, the foundation honors the philanthropic legacy of its founders. Preference is given to proposals for funding personnel positions in established organizations, particularly in advancement and development. The foundation does not provide grants to individuals except through scholarship programs, ensuring that its contributions benefit the community at large.

The Irene Stetson Charitable Trust Grant supports impactful projects in Jefferson County and Steubenville, focusing on year-round programming that meets community needs. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status and demonstrate financial accountability and sustainability. The grant prioritizes initiatives that benefit underserved populations and require measurable outcomes. While it encourages collaboration, it does not fund general operating costs, capital campaigns, or for-profit entities. Organizations must have a track record of at least three years in service.

Rick Robinson Hotstart Scholarship

Applicants must be children or grandchildren of full-time Hotstart employees who have a minimum of two years employment with Hotstart as of the application deadline date. 

Previous recipients are eligible to re-apply, but an individual may receive an award no more than four times. 

The Strategic Planning Grant Program by Attainable Edge LLC aims to provide accessible and affordable strategic planning resources to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. Awardees will receive a one-year subscription to innovative software and consulting services, enabling them to align their teams and enhance their strategic goals. This initiative focuses on empowering organizations to effectively engage with their communities and achieve significant positive change through structured planning and collaboration.

ATI Physical Therapy is dedicated to enhancing community health and wellness through its sponsorship and donation initiatives. With a mission to exceed customer expectations, ATI actively engages in philanthropic efforts that improve lives and promote quality care beyond clinic walls. They encourage requests for support while emphasizing a review process that ensures timely responses. Partnering with local organizations, ATI aims to elevate awareness of health and wellness, impacting thousands of lives each year.

The Esther Simmons Charitable Trust aims to support impactful projects within Jefferson County and Steubenville, Ohio. The trust prioritizes initiatives that provide year-round programming, direct services, and measurable outcomes, while addressing community needs. Eligible organizations must demonstrate financial accountability and collaboration with others, and have a proven track record of at least three years in operation. The trust does not support general operating costs, pilot programs, or for-profit entities.

The American Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowship, offered by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), promotes gender equity in academia by providing $50,000 for women pursuing independent research. Open to all fields, it specifically encourages applicants in STEM and gender studies. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, hold a relevant doctoral degree, and be engaged in full-time research during the fellowship. The Jack J. Smith Jr. Trust Grant supports impactful projects in the Greater Cincinnati Area, prioritizing year-round programming and direct services that address community needs. The grant favors initiatives that demonstrate measurable outcomes, sustainability, and collaboration with other organizations. Eligible applicants must have a minimum of three years of operation and show documented results from previous projects. However, the Trust does not support general operating costs or new pilot programs.

The Dayton Foundation offers discretionary grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the Dayton Region, supporting projects addressing community needs. Grants typically range from $7,500 to $75,000 and prioritize capacity-building, special projects, and program expansions. Eligible organizations must have a two-year operational history and demonstrate collaboration and community impact. The Foundation seeks to enhance efficiency, promote volunteerism, and improve equity for marginalized populations. Applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee, with notifications provided via email.

The AAUW International Fellowships support women pursuing graduate or postdoctoral studies in the U.S. who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Since 1917, these fellowships have provided financial assistance, with awards of $20,000 for Master’s, $25,000 for Doctoral, and $50,000 for Postdoctoral studies. While requests from outside these areas may be considered, priority is given to local community events. Notably, certain types of requests, including those for advertising and religious purposes, are ineligible. This ensures that contributions align with the company's community initiatives.

The Schwarzman Scholars program offers a fully-funded, one-year master's degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, fostering global leadership through academic excellence and cultural exchange. Moran Award, which offers $100,000, and the Frances R. Hesselbein Award, granting $75,000. Since 1996, the award has acknowledged 262 partnerships, emphasizing Mutual of America's commitment to societal improvement through collaboration.

The FRS Scholarships, provided by the Foundation for Rural Service, support high school seniors from rural areas in their pursuit of higher education. Sponsored by NTCA members, these one-time scholarships aim to enhance educational opportunities and encourage graduates to return to their communities. With a mission to improve rural life through educational initiatives, this program plays a vital role in fostering the next generation of leaders in rural America.

The Everett Kneece Scholarship, offered by the Foundation for Rural Service, provides a $7,000 award annually to a graduating high school senior who shows commitment to returning to a rural community. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens sponsored by an NTCA member and express interest in rural community service. This scholarship honors Everett Kneece's legacy of philanthropy and dedication to enhancing rural life through education.

The Sarah Tyree Good Neighbor Scholarship, provided by the Foundation for Rural Service, honors the legacy of Sarah Tyree, a champion for rural broadband. This scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who exemplify humanitarianism and community spirit. Eligible students must be U.S. citizens with a commitment to returning to rural areas post-graduation. The award supports educational endeavors, ensuring that future leaders have the resources they need to thrive.

The Herbert and Isabel Bitz Memorial Scholarship, established by Mr. Don Bitz, offers a $5,000 award annually to a graduating high school senior dedicated to rural America. Sponsored by a member of NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, applicants must be U.S. citizens with intentions of returning to a rural community after graduation. This scholarship aims to support students who aspire to contribute to the quality of life in rural areas.

The TMS Scholarship, provided by the Foundation for Rural Service, awards $1,500 annually to two deserving students from Ardmore Telephone or West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications Cooperative. To qualify, applicants must be graduating high school seniors, U.S. citizens, sponsored by a member of the NTCA, and show interest in returning to rural communities post-graduation. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and support the development of rural America.

The Roger Cox Scholarship, funded by the Foundation for Rural Service, offers a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior residing in the Atlantic Telephone Membership Company service area in North Carolina, along with two $500 scholarships for rural residents of North and South Carolina. The scholarship aims to support students' educational journeys while encouraging them to return to rural communities post-graduation. Recipients are selected through a thorough review process.

The Smart Family Fund is a private foundation dedicated to supporting early-stage non-profits that demonstrate the potential for scalable, positive impact. With grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, they aim to assist organizations in refining their models and preparing for larger investments. The foundation, guided by three brothers, focuses on mentoring and backing social entrepreneurs facing challenges in securing funding for innovative yet untested ideas, fostering a brighter future for communities.

The Thomas J. Henry Sponsorship Requests program emphasizes community support and global outreach. The Founders’ Award by SAX LLP honors nonprofit organizations demonstrating perseverance in their mission. With a rich history since 1956, SAX aims to empower nonprofits through a $20,000 unrestricted gift for the first place, alongside additional support for second and third places. Eligible applicants must hold a 501(c)(3) tax exemption and attend the awards ceremony if selected among the Top 75. This initiative reflects SAX's commitment to advancing impactful nonprofits in their communities.

The Gertrude McDaris Ruskin and Sidney H. Ruskin Scholarship offers financial support to students from specific regions in North Carolina, including Buncombe, Haywood, and Madison counties, as well as those residing on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The O'Brate Traditional College Scholarship supports disadvantaged youth in Kansas, aged 17-25, particularly those who have been in foster care or face unstable living conditions. This scholarship not only offers financial aid ranging from $500 to $5,000 annually but also provides mentorship, financial literacy programming, and professional development opportunities, ensuring that recipients have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in their educational pursuits.
