Funding of up to $100,000 over two years will support projects focused on identifying effective treatment strategies, understanding mechanisms of synergy, and improving access to care. This initiative represents a significant opportunity for innovative research in oncology.

Scholarships for High School Seniors

Mid-Shore Community Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties, who are planning to attend a college, university, or trade school. In general, scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, community service, financial need, and other criteria specified by the donor.

Talbot Co. Public Schools Career and Technology Scholarship

Awarded to students graduating from Talbot County Public Schools, who are planning to attend a vocational, trade, or career school.

The Improving Shared Decision Making in Hemophilia Visiting Professorship Program, sponsored by Pfizer and HTRS, aims to enhance educational resources for organizations with limited access to hemophilia expertise. This initiative invites clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to host a distinguished Visiting Professor who will address unmet educational needs in shared decision making and emerging therapies. Grants of up to $7,500 will support local program costs, with a focus on enhancing care for patients with hemostatic disorders.

Cargold Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Dennis and Evelyn Chapman to honor Dennis’ parents and their belief in higher education.

The Y-City Barbershop Scholarship, offered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation, supports two students annually, targeting high school seniors and current college students pursuing vocal music education. Applicants must be either graduating high school seniors involved in their choir or current college/university vocal music education students. The Todd Biles Business Scholarship, offered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation, supports high school seniors pursuing a two- or four-year degree in business administration. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate a commitment to public policy or leadership in their career statements. The Mary Jean Borley Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Zanesville branch of the American Association of University Women, supports young women from Muskingum County pursuing degrees related to child welfare. With a mission to enhance community life, the Muskingum County Community Foundation has awarded over $8 million since its inception. Eligible applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or higher and be residents of Muskingum County.

The Beverly Bell Scholarship Fund, established by Beverly Bell, aims to support Muskingum County high school seniors pursuing higher education. With a focus on students from Franklin Local School District, particularly those who attended Roseville Elementary, the fund reflects Beverly's commitment to enhancing community opportunities. Her extensive involvement in local initiatives, coupled with her background in social work, underscores a dedication to empowering the next generation. This scholarship fosters educational aspirations, ensuring a brighter future for local youth.

The Ayden & Wyatt Brown Memorial Scholarship, established in 2021 by the Muskingum County Community Foundation, aims to support high school athletes from Maysville Local School District who face significant life challenges. Annually, it awards up to $500 to a graduating senior committed to pursuing their dreams in education or professional goals. This initiative embodies hope, courage, and service, fostering resilience and ambition among young athletes in the community.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Book Scholarship, offered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation, aims to support minority high school seniors in Muskingum County in their pursuit of higher education. Eligible students must meet specific criteria, including a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an ACT score of 18 or higher. This scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to enhancing community quality of life through educational opportunities.

Since 2002, the ACA has partnered with L.L. Bean to sponsor the Club Fostered Stewardship (CFS) Program. The CFS Program provides funding to local and regional paddling clubs and organizations that undertake stewardship projects on waterways in their area. The purpose of the program is to encourage paddling clubs to take an active role in protecting and improving the nation's waterways. 

Many of the stewardship needs of our nation's waters are best addressed at the local and regional level. Paddling clubs and watershed organizations are in an ideal position to lead these efforts. These paddlers are often willing to volunteer their time and assist with local stewardship projects. However, clubs often lack the funds needed to pay project expenses. As a result, they miss an opportunity to leverage dozens and sometimes hundreds of volunteer hours that could improve conditions on their favorite waterway.

CFS Grant Program

That is why L.L. Bean and the ACA have teamed up to sponsor the CFS Program.

CFS grants are available for projects that utilize volunteers in efforts to protect, maintain or restore recreational waterways, to provide for or improve public access, or to enhance safe navigation. 

Grant amounts range from $100-$1,000.

Past projects receiving CFS grants include:

• Removing heavy debris and trash from rivers and bays in numerous locations throughout the U.S.
• Improving access for local paddlers
• Establishing water trails 
• Water quality monitoring 
• Environmentally-sensitive woody debris removal 
• Riparian buffer restoration and improvement 
• Environmental education and outreach programs

ACA also offers additional assistance to clubs and organizations for waterway stewardship projects. Clubs and organizations concerned about liability for injuries that occur during stewardship projects may be able to obtain liability insurance coverage through the ACA. Clubs may request additional assistance using the It is not mandatory to be a paddling club to apply. In the past, grants have been awarded to conservation organizations and watershed groups.

The Richard Clark Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Muskingum County Community Foundation, honors Richard A. Clark's legacy in education and community service. Applicants must be graduates of Muskingum County high schools with a minimum GPA of 2.5, and have participated in swimming or scouting. This scholarship not only supports students pursuing postsecondary education but also emphasizes local community involvement, especially for Zanesville High School students, reflecting Rich's lifelong commitment to nurturing future generations.

The Debbie Pettit Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Muskingum County Republican Club, honors the legacy of Debbie Pettit, a dedicated Republican. This scholarship supports two deserving female residents of Muskingum County who are high school seniors or enrolled in undergraduate programs. With the Muskingum County Community Foundation's mission to enhance community life, this initiative aims to empower young women to achieve their educational aspirations and pursue their passions.

The OREF Multimodal Musculoskeletal Perioperative Pain Management Grant invites research proposals aimed at enhancing perioperative pain management strategies. This funding opportunity emphasizes opioid-sparing techniques and effective regional anesthesia methods to improve patient outcomes in orthopedic surgeries. Eligible applicants include Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in collaboration with PhDs or MDs, fostering a diverse range of expertise in pain management research.

The AGA Fellowship-to-Faculty Transition Award offers $65,000 per year for two years, totaling $130,000, to clinical and postdoctoral fellows. This funding is intended to support their transition to independent research careers focused on inflammatory bowel disease in gastroenterology. Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent, be in a fellowship position in North America, and demonstrate a commitment to clinical or translational research. AGA membership is required, and applicants should have a mentor who is also an AGA member.

The AANA Research Grants support clinical and basic science research in arthroscopic surgery, with a funding pool for 2024 reaching $350,000. One project may receive $50,000, while six others can be awarded $25,000 each. Applications are evaluated based on scientific validity, feasibility, clinical relevance, and completion ability. Special consideration is given to innovative surgical techniques and patient-reported outcomes. Travel expenses for study participants may also be considered during grant reviews.

The ACS-ASTRO Felix Feng, MD Clinician Scientist Development Award supports practicing radiation oncologists engaged in research that enhances health across the cancer continuum. Funded by the American Cancer Society and ASTRO, this award provides $730,000 over three to five years, aiming to advance the field of radiation oncology and improve patient care through innovative research and collaboration.

The Pittsburgh Foundation provides scholarship opportunities for students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, graduate, medical and professional school students who are attending community colleges, four–year universities, graduate schools, and career/technical schools.

Kennametal Scholarship Fund

The Kennametal Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to support students in Southwestern Pennsylvania with financial need pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related degrees. The purpose of the scholarship is to broaden the awareness of opportunities in STEM by supporting students who have been disproportionately affected by systemic barriers to educational achievement.

Community’s Memorial Scholarship

Memorial scholarships are one of the top categories of funds created at Marion Community Foundation, but not all donors who wish to memorialize a loved one in this distinctive and perpetual way start their own fund. The Community’s Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to memorialize a number of individuals collectively. All of the persons memorialized are recognized during Marion Community Foundation’s annual Scholarship Program.

The Mary H. Hollaway Trust provided seed money for this special purpose. Mary was well known in Marion, due to her long career with Fahey Bank. Upon her passing, she had arranged for several funds to be created from her estate, this scholarship among them. Other organizations she chose to support include the Marion Area Humane Society, Marion Palace Theatre, and the Marion Family YMCA.

The Community’s Memorial Scholarship is available to graduates and seniors from any Marion County high school who rank in the upper 50 percent of their class.

Collier Scholarship

The Collier Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 by Dr. Wayne Collier to honor the memory of his parents, Herbert & Freida Collier. He is an optometrist and noted community philanthropist in Bucyrus, Ohio, having been named the community’s 2015 Citizen of the Year.

The Collier Scholarship supports promising students and graduates of high schools in Crawford County—Bucyrus, Wynford, Colonel Crawford, and Buckeye Central—where he now lives, as well as his alma mater, Bellevue Senior High in Bellevue, Ohio. Special consideration is given to applicants who participated in music programs in high school or college.

The Western Institute of Nursing Research Grant is designed to support registered nurses in advancing nursing through research. Funded jointly by the Sigma Foundation for Nursing and WIN, this grant offers $10,000 annually for pilot or developmental research projects. Eligible applicants must hold a current nursing license, possess a doctoral degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program, and be a member of Sigma and WIN. Applications are accepted through an online submission system.

The Combined Pilot Research Grants by the Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) aim to support innovative pilot studies in hand surgery and plastic surgery. Grants of up to $10,000 are provided for projects that enhance scientific knowledge and clinical practices. Eligibility requires applicants to be MDs, DOs, or PhDs in U.S. or Canadian institutions, and membership in AAPS is encouraged to facilitate collaboration and mentorship.
