SFY26 Non-Competitive Hospital Based Violence Intervention Program

Since September 2019, Governor Murphy and the Department of Law and Public Safety have invested in the development, implementation, and sustainability of hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) across New Jersey. These programs are designed to engage victims of gun and other community based violence at the time of crisis, providing immediate support and connecting them to critical services.

This funding supports programs that connect victims of crime to services, starting in hospitals or other medical settings and continuing into the community aiming to enhance support, improve outcomes, and reduce the risk of future victimization. 

This funding is limited to recipients who received SFY25 NJHVIP Continuation Funding and who have:

• Met the program’s goals and objectives,
• Submitted all required reports on time,
• Remained in compliance with all grant conditions, and
• Satisfied any additional criteria determined by the Department of Law and Public Safety.

This grant invites principal investigators from New Jersey academic and research institutions to apply, fostering collaboration to improve health outcomes for high-burden populations across the state.

The NJ Wildlife Fencing Grants provide cost-share funding for installing wildlife fencing on unpreserved farms in New Jersey. Eligible farm owners, operators, or tenants can receive up to 50% matching funds, up to $50,000, to help construct, maintain, or restore fencing for wildlife protection. The program aims to support agricultural sustainability while safeguarding crops from wildlife. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.

Cops in Shops Summer Shore Initiative

PurposeFounded in 1991, and originally known as The Century Council, the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org), is a national non-profit organization dedicated to combating underage drinking, the Cops in Shops program offers a unique approach to preventing the illegal purchase of alcohol by underage persons through a "partnership" of retail licensed establishments and the law enforcement community. The program also targets adults who purchase alcoholic beverages for underage individuals.

Specifically, undercover police officers work cooperatively with retail licensed establishments by posing as employees or patrons in the licensed premises to stop anyone under the age of 21 who attempts to purchase alcohol or use fictitious identification. The Cops in Shops program advertises and educates youth, adults and parents about the legal repercussions of underage drinking through the use of posters (advertised at point of sale). 

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for students in the Dietetic Technician Program, with over 250 scholarships available. Ranging from $500 to $25,000, these scholarships help support aspiring dietetic professionals. Applicants need to complete a single application to be considered for multiple scholarships based on eligibility. Membership in the Academy is encouraged but not mandatory for applying.

Administered by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, it is part of a broader initiative that has awarded over $2 million to 271 scholars. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation offers over 250 scholarships for undergraduate students pursuing dietetics. The Baltimore Life Community Grants Program, established by the Baltimore Life Foundation, awards grants of up to $500 to nonprofit organizations in various states, including Maryland and Virginia. This initiative aims to enhance community quality of life through projects that focus on family safety and community enhancement. Eligible applicants must be IRS-certified 501(c)(3) organizations, with priority given to those with volunteer support. Our scholarship committee considers the criteria, evaluates the submitted applications, and chooses the best candidates for each scholarship.

Willard M. Henkelman, Esq. Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduate of a high school located in Lackawanna County who is enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at Princeton University.

The Columbia Bank Foundation Housing Grant Program aims to provide essential funding for initiatives that ensure accessible, affordable, and safe housing for low-and-moderate income individuals. With grants ranging from $7,501 to $25,000, the Foundation prioritizes support for community-based non-profits that have been operational for at least three years and hold 501(c)(3) status. With over a million dollars awarded, FBCF aims to enhance community well-being through partnerships in health, housing, and education. Nonprofits aligning with FBCF's mission and demonstrating significant service impact are encouraged to apply for grants, fostering a stronger fabric within their neighborhoods.

The Edward W. and Stella C. Van Houten Memorial Fund Grant, established in 1978 in New Jersey, supports health, education, and human services. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt to apply, with a deadline of August 1 for September meetings. The foundation prioritizes agencies serving sick or disabled individuals, orphaned children, and those in the nursing profession. Scholarships and educational initiatives are also funded, benefiting Bergen and Passaic Counties.

The Community Library Adult Literacy & Career Pathway Grant Program aims to enhance Adult Literacy Services in New Jersey by providing additional resources for adult literacy, including digital literacy and career pathway training. This initiative targets increased employability for residents, particularly those in low-wage jobs, by offering essential skills training and certifications. Priority is given to programs that improve digital literacy and access, ensuring a broader impact on community members seeking job advancement.

The Knight Family Charitable Foundation, established by Peg and Bill Knight, focuses on enhancing community welfare through humanitarian support, education, and the arts. It aims to protect native wildlife and their habitats while promoting projects aligned with its mission. The foundation continues the legacy of giving back, inspired by the Knights' lifelong commitment to community service. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations are eligible for support, fostering initiatives that resonate with the foundation's vision.
