Herbert A. and Charles E. Kester Scholarship Fund

The Herbert A & Charles E Kester Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation by Kevin & Tracy Walsh to honor the memory of their dear friend Charles Kester & his father Herbert by providing funds for students who will be attending The University of Pittsburgh & will be pursing a degree or studies in Education. Both Herbert & Charles strongly believed in giving back & helping others when they could, this scholarship continues their legacy.

Award Type: Multi-Year (up to 4 years). Recipients must maintain enrollment and major requirements.

The John J. and Martha A. Hucko Scholarship fund was created to provide scholarships for graduating seniors in good standing from Allegheny, Washington or Westmoreland counties who will attend Duquesne University.

Award Type: Multi-Year (up to 4 years). Recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.25.

Coach Dave Gray Scholarship Fund

The Coach Dave Gray Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships for students who plan on pursing post-secondary education. This scholarship fund was established by John and Shana Mackie in 2017 with funds raised through their 2017 “Party for a Purpose”, an annual party for their friends and family with the goal of raising awareness for a different worthy local ministry or cause each year. John and Shana named the fund in honor of Coach Dave Gray who has dedicated his career to working with youth in Western Pennsylvania. Through his classes, camps, training and other activities, Coach Dave impacts the lives of thousands of kids in a positive way. Dave’s programs instill confidence, self-esteem, promote a healthy, active lifestyle and are fun for kids. This scholarship fund will honor Coach Dave’s commitment to the community and help benefit students from Western Pennsylvania for years to come.

Economic Opportunity Scholarship in Trade and Apprenticeship

The Economic Opportunity Scholarship in Trade and Apprenticeship Scholarship Fund was established at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships for residents, ages 18 to 25, of Western Pennsylvania (Allegheny and the 6 surrounding counties) who are pursuing completion of a program at a trade school.

The Eleanor Friedberg Art Scholarship Fund, established by the Pittsburgh Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors from Pittsburgh Public Schools and nearby areas who aspire to study the arts. With a minimum GPA of 2.4, eligible students can pursue vocational, technical, or college education. The Greensburg College Club Scholarship Fund, established by the Pittsburgh Foundation, offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing in or attending school in the 15601 zip code. The fund also supports children or grandchildren of Greensburg College Club members. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and plan to enroll in an accredited vocational, technical school, or college. The Leonard and Annette Silverman University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to students who are currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. The Fund is in memory of Leonard Silverman, a graduate of the School of Pharmacy in 1951.

The Mary Agnes Powers Scholarship Fund, established by the Pittsburgh Foundation, supports nursing students from several Pennsylvania counties. This scholarship honors Mary Agnes Powers and is awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and enrollment in nursing programs. Eligible candidates must reside in designated counties, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be entering their final year of nursing education.
