We offer hundreds of different scholarships for students in and around Kansas City.

Stephen and Karen Kohler Clegg Scholarship Fund

The Stephen & Karen Kohler Clegg Scholarship will support 6 scholarships at MCC’s ATSI. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide a student in each of the following areas:

• Welding
• Industrial Technology
• HVAC

The Matt Bushey Memorial Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, awards a $1,000 scholarship to a postgraduate student enrolled in an accredited graduate education program. Eligible applicants must currently teach in specified Missouri schools, including Dadeville and Fair Play. An essay is required as part of the application process. This scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting aspiring educators in their academic pursuits.

The Lozier Foundation

The Lozier Foundation is a private family foundation based in Omaha, Nebraska, funded by Allan and Dianne Lozier. The Foundation supports nonprofit organizations working to expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and improve quality of life for people and families who have historically had less access to resources.

The Foundation’s grantmaking is grounded in a long-term commitment to Omaha and the surrounding region. We are especially interested in work that helps level the playing field, supports people during important moments of need or transition, and gives individuals and families greater ability to make choices about their own lives and futures.

The Foundation’s support has historically focused on established nonprofit organizations working in areas such as education, human services, youth development, health, family stability, and community well-being. While those areas describe much of our grantmaking, they are not intended to serve as fixed categories or a comprehensive list.

The Foundation is selective in its grantmaking. We generally support organizations with a meaningful operating history, capable leadership, sound governance, financial discipline, and a demonstrated ability to serve the community effectively. The Foundation does not typically support early-stage organizations, small projects or organizations with limited reach, or requests that fall outside our geographic and charitable priorities.

The Foundation also considers whether a request reflects a clear understanding of the existing community landscape. We are generally skeptical of efforts that duplicate services already being provided effectively by other organizations, particularly when collaboration, coordination, or partnership would better serve the community. Organizations seeking support should be prepared to explain how their work fits within the broader field, who they collaborate with, and why the proposed work is needed.

The Lozier Foundation grant applications include: Capital Application; Education Application; General Application; and Program Application.

Organizations may receive general operating, program, and capital grants. While The Lozier Foundation prefers to provide ongoing general operating support, organizations can receive a program and/or capital grant in the same calendar year.

The Mathew W. Placzek Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, offers a $5,000 scholarship for postgraduate law students pursuing a Juris Doctorate. Eligible applicants must be in their second or third year and have graduated from specific high schools or universities in Missouri. Required materials include a transcript, an essay, and a letter of good standing. This scholarship aims to support students in their educational and professional aspirations.

Upward Momentum is a collaborative fund aimed at transforming economic mobility in Missouri. By investing in community-driven initiatives, it seeks to address systemic inequities and foster opportunities for all. The fund emphasizes partnerships and innovative strategies to create lasting change, focusing on the unique diversity of Missouri's communities. With a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration, Upward Momentum is poised to drive impactful solutions that enhance economic well-being across the state.

The Martin Youngblood Linesman Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides $2,000 to a graduating high school senior from specified counties. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and submit a transcript along with an essay. This scholarship aims to support students pursuing education in line worker programs, contributing to the development of skilled professionals in the electrical utility field.

Mark's Memorial Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, offers a $2,000 scholarship aimed at high school seniors from specific local schools. This renewable scholarship supports students maintaining a 2.5 GPA while enrolled in an accredited institution. Eligible candidates must demonstrate financial need and submit necessary documents, including an essay and a letter of recommendation, to pursue their higher education goals.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) aims to enhance research capabilities in eligible states by increasing the number of university researchers and institutions conducting relevant science and engineering research. Sponsored by the Department of Defense, this program will fund multiyear awards to promote research aligned with national security needs. Applications require a multi-stage submission process, emphasizing early registration and timely proposal submissions.

The FY26 Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) Capacity Building opportunity aims to enhance the capabilities of university researchers in eligible states. Managed by the DoD, this initiative focuses on increasing the number of researchers capable of conducting relevant science and engineering research. The program also seeks to strengthen institutions of higher education and improve their competitiveness for federal research funding, ultimately fostering long-term growth in financial assistance for scientific research.

Jenese Lynn Krysa Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the Jenese Lynn Krysa Scholarship Fund is to provide an annual scholarship to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates or graduate students, who intend to further their education at a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the state of Missouri, and are pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business or Marketing.

This is a one-time scholarship with no renewal.

Casey’s Donation Requests support vital community needs in Education, Hunger, and Community Servants. Eligible 501(c)3 organizations within Casey’s communities can apply through the online Donation Request Form. Requests are reviewed continuously, with feedback provided via email within one month. Priority is given to organizations that haven't received donations in the current giving calendar year, which runs from May 1 to April 30.

The goal of State Cyber Crime Grant (SCCG) is to make funds available to reduce internet sex crimes against children and improve public safety for children through investigations, forensics, and prevention. This program provides support for the continued operation of multi jurisdictional law enforcement cybercrime task forces. 

This project will directly improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science services provided to the law enforcement community of Missouri by increasing examiner proficiency, competency, knowledge, skills, and abilities. This project involves all of Missouri’s crime laboratories – those operated by units of local government and those operated by the state.

The Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant aims to enhance the well-being of military service members, veterans, and their families through non-clinical arts engagement programs. Funded by the Mid-America Arts Alliance, grants of $10,000 to $25,000 support diverse artistic activities in various settings. Projects should foster creative expression, social connectedness, resilience, and independence, ultimately empowering military-connected individuals to thrive through art and community involvement.

The DPS’ strategic priorities encompass several key initiatives including; building relationships with external stakeholders, identifying hazards and threats to public safety, maintaining sufficient capacities to perform statutorily required responsibilities and utilizing federal and state programs to protect, as well as provide impactful service to Missouri citizens. The grant opportunity provides resources to combat drug related crimes. 

The purpose of the Minority Police Officer Recruitment and Retention (MPORR) project is to support minority police officer recruitment and retention programs located in a city not within a county with such program being administered and overseen by an African-American police officer association that supports efforts in reducing crime in a city not in a county and county with more than one million inhabitants.

PLTW Engineering - New Program In Partnership With Ardagh Group

Ardagh Group has partnered with PLTW to support education in its local communities where Ardagh employees live and work. This partnership recognizes the critical role education, and access to education, plays in ensuring equal opportunities and in building successful, vibrant communities. It is expected that over the next 10 years, Ardagh sponsored education programs will benefit more than 500,000 PreK-12 students as well as delivering best-in-class teacher training to more than 5,000 teachers across 2,000 schools in Ardagh's U.S. communities.

Program Requirements

The purpose of this grant is to assist the grantee's implementation of the PLTW Engineering program. Grantee must offer the PLTW Engineering program for three academic years. Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Engineering course in the 2027-2028 academic year and must offer one additional course in the 2028-2029 academic year (two different courses in two years). Grantee may implement any PLTW Engineering courses of their choosing. Grantee must complete three years of grant reporting.

Community Foundation of the Ozarks

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) provides philanthropic leadership to build stronger communities. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our region through resource development, community grantmaking, collaboration and public leadership.

We help donors achieve their philanthropic goals through professional management and investment of charitable funds. We work with nonprofit organizations to help them fulfill their missions through fund administration, grantmaking and learning opportunities. We award scholarships to deserving students to help them achieve their educational goals.

Missouri Beef Days Grantmaking Program

Missouri Beef Days exists to appreciate those in the beef and agriculture industries and their contributions to the economy; educate all on the importance of beef to Missouri - economically, nutritionally, and environmentally; celebrate Missouri's top industry and all those involved. Established in 2022, Missouri Beef Days has provided beef to local schools, raised over $100,000 in scholarship funding, and made community improvements in Polk County.

Missouri Beef Days seeks to support projects related to increasing access to agricultural education for students and will award three grants this cycle. Grant proposals are accepted according to an announced timetable, and grant recommendations are made as funds are available. .

The Specialty Care Access Grant Program, managed by the Patterson Family Foundation, aims to enhance access to specialty medical services in rural communities of Kansas and western Missouri. Organizations eligible for funding include nonprofits, school districts, and government entities serving these areas. The program emphasizes collaboration with local leaders to ensure quality healthcare access for communities, particularly in maternal care, oncology, and mental health, while encouraging early submission of proposals for timely review.

The Patterson Family Foundation invites innovative proposals aimed at enhancing healthcare in rural communities. Registration is required before applying, with deadlines for the first and second rounds set for April 18 and July 3, 2025, respectively. The foundation, dedicated to helping rural areas thrive, particularly encourages projects that test new models to expand maternal care, promoting better health outcomes and long-term impact in these underserved regions.

The Patterson Family Foundation is inviting innovative proposals to enhance community engagement in rural areas. With a focus on projects that foster long-term involvement from all generations, the Foundation aims to support initiatives that contribute to the mission of thriving rural communities. To apply, organizations must be located within the Foundation's Kansas and western Missouri catchment and possess nonprofit status. Early submission of the Letter of Intent is highly recommended for timely review.

TC Energy’s Build Strong program supports vital organizations in communities near its operations. By providing grants, scholarships, and in-kind support, the program aims to enhance safety, education, environmental protection, and community well-being. Eligible applicants include non-profits and community groups addressing local needs. Ineligible activities include operational expenses and for-profit endeavors. The program prioritizes projects demonstrating measurable community impact, fostering a collaborative relationship between TC Energy and local stakeholders.

The Patterson Foundation offers Assistance Dog Program Grants to support organizations providing service animals to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Funding is available for projects that expand capacity, personnel costs related to puppy training, and program support aimed at improving client experiences. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) non-profits and can request grants up to $35,000 for capital projects or $10,000 for program support. Applications are accepted through a two-step process.

The MEEA Environmental Educator Mini-Grant supports educators in Missouri by providing funding for innovative environmental education projects. Established in 2013, this grant program awards eight grants of $250 each annually to enhance sustainability education. Open to all MEEA professional members, it prioritizes proposals that engage underrepresented groups in environmental learning. Funded by Debby Barker in memory of her husband, Lou Clairmont, this initiative aims to inspire and educate while promoting conservation efforts across the state.

St. Florian Scholarship Fund

The scholarship is awarded on an annual basis. Awards are based on community service, academic achievement, as well as need. Applicants with strong connection to public safety and those living in the KCMO metro preferred.

 Previous scholarship recipients are welcome to re-apply. 

The Alwyn H. Gentry Fellowship, offered by the Missouri Botanical Garden, supports young scientists from Latin America in the fields of botany and plant sciences. This fellowship provides funding for research and training at the Garden in St. Louis, including access to valuable resources and a stipend for living expenses. It honors Dr. Alwyn H. Gentry's legacy and aims to facilitate professional development through independent research or collaboration with MBG scientists.

The Aroid Fellowship, offered by the Missouri Botanical Garden, supports young scientists in botany and plant sciences, particularly in Neotropical aroid research. This fellowship provides funding for research and training at MBG in St. Louis, covering travel, lodging, and stipends for living expenses. Open to students and young professionals with recent degrees, it encourages independent research or collaboration with MBG scientists, fostering professional growth and access to extensive botanical resources.
