Cardinals Charities

Founded in 1990, Cardinals Charities supports programs designed to improve the quality of life and enhance opportunities for children, women, and minorities in the state of Arizona.

Cardinals Charities' grants are awarded on an annual basis in response to applications from various qualified non-profit organizations whose goals and programs align with the mission statement.

Since its inception, Cardinals Charities has distributed more than 9.1 million dollars to hundreds of worthy charitable organizations on behalf of the Arizona Cardinals and the National Football League.

Mission Statement​

The Arizona Cardinals Charities Fund supports programs designed to improve the quality of life and enhance opportunities for children, women, and minorities in the state of Arizona.

Grants are awarded on an annual basis in response to applications from non-profit 501(c)(3) qualified organizations whose goals and programs meet our mission statement. We make every effort to direct our contributions where they can have the greatest impact while addressing the most critical needs. Funding is limited to the success of Cardinals Charities' own fund-raising efforts during the year.

The RMS-SEPM Scholarships, specifically the Edwin D. McKee Grant, provides $2,000 for undergraduate and graduate students conducting sedimentological research in the Rocky Mountain region. Sponsored by the Society for Sedimentary Geology, this scholarship aims to support students at universities within the U.S. Preference is given to those studying in states like Montana, Colorado, and New Mexico, promoting a deeper understanding of sedimentology and its applications.

The Banner – University Family Care (B – UFC) Community Reinvestment Program aims to enhance healthcare access by providing financial support to community organizations. This initiative focuses on addressing Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) and reducing health disparities among vulnerable populations, including older adults and justice-involved individuals. Funding will prioritize services not covered by Title XIX/XXI, targeting areas such as housing, transportation, and social isolation, ultimately striving to improve health outcomes in the communities served.

The Invasive Plant Grant (IPG) Program aims to combat invasive plant species threatening Arizona's forests and grasslands. With $970,000 available, grants range from $50,000 to $200,000 for projects focusing on prevention, control, and eradication. Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofits, and academic institutions. Projects must provide at least 10% matching funds. Preference is given to initiatives in diverse grassland areas and those offering higher match contributions. This program supports critical ecological restoration efforts.

The Colorado Plateau Foundation offers the CPF Rapid Response Grant to support Native-led organizations addressing urgent needs in the Colorado Plateau region. Grant amounts range from $19,500 for small grants to $150,000 for standard grants, varying by hospital. Participating hospitals include those under Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, aimed at addressing significant community health needs.

The Healthy Forest Initiative Grant, funded by the State of Arizona and USDA Forest Service, aims to enhance fire prevention, protect critical infrastructure, and restore forests and watersheds. With approximately $1.5 million available, grants up to $500,000 will support projects on various lands. Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofits, and educational institutions. Priority will be given to projects aligned with community wildfire protection plans and those that have not received prior treatments.

The WNAN Natural History Research Grant supports research in biological natural history within western North America. Grants of up to $2,500 are available for five authors to assist with travel, supplies, and other research-related expenses. This initiative particularly encourages applicants from institutions where research is not the primary focus, aiming to foster diverse contributions to natural history.

The Arizona Child Abuse Prevention License Plate Donation Grant, issued by Governor Katie Hobbs’ Office of Youth, Faith and Family, aims to fund local and statewide programs that effectively promote trauma-informed primary prevention to combat child abuse and neglect. Priority is given to projects that collaboratively address community needs and yield significant environmental benefits. This funding opportunity aligns with federal priorities aimed at optimizing resource use and improving grant oversight, as outlined in recent executive orders.

The WaterSMART: Desalination Construction Projects initiative by the Bureau of Reclamation aims to enhance water supply reliability through cooperative funding and support for desalination facilities. This program aligns with federal priorities to improve energy and resource management, encouraging proposals that diversify local water sources. By focusing on innovative solutions to water scarcity, the initiative promotes sustainable water management practices, especially for growing communities facing water shortages.

The Ernest Morgan Memorial Scholarship, managed by CommunityGiving, supports central Minnesota student athletes and leaders to pursue higher education outside their home states. This scholarship aims to expand students' horizons and experiences, with a total award of $5,000 available. Open to high school seniors from specific schools, applicants are encouraged to apply online and demonstrate their leadership or athletic skills. This initiative enhances educational opportunities and fosters personal growth among local youth.

The US Department of Health & Human Services announces a competitive funding opportunity for the Head Start/Early Head Start programs across various states. This initiative aims to enhance services for low-income families and children, promoting their social and economic well-being. With approximately $818.3 million available, the program seeks to expand access to quality early childhood education, thereby strengthening community stability and prosperity. The WM Four Corners Scholarship Program, administered by Scholarship America, aims to support students pursuing a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic major at accredited colleges or vocational schools in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Texas. This initiative addresses the need for financial assistance in education, particularly for underrepresented groups. Scholarship America has a long-standing commitment to making higher education accessible, having awarded over $5.7 billion in scholarships since its inception.

The Community Facilities Grant Program in Arizona provides crucial funding to develop essential services in rural areas. This program supports public bodies, non-profits, and federally-recognized tribes to purchase, construct, or improve facilities such as healthcare centers, educational institutions, and public safety services. Grants are available for projects that meet specific eligibility criteria, particularly in smaller communities with lower median incomes, ensuring that vital resources are accessible to those who need them most.

Faculty seeking funding for sustainable agriculture research and education in Arizona and the broader Western U.S. can apply for Western SARE’s Sabbatical Research and Education Grant, with awards up to US $75,000 for one-year projects. Grants support partnerships with farmers, ranchers, and ag professionals, which may include youth-focused agricultural education or extension activities.

The NIOSH Miner Safety and Health Training Program aims to enhance health and safety training for miners in the Western United States. Judge Paul Rosenblatt Scholarship

The Judge Paul Rosenblatt Scholarship is open to any law student at the University of Arizona from Yavapai County.

Public and charter schools offering or expanding PLTW Biomedical Science courses in 2026–2027, including those in Arizona, can apply for Project Lead The Way’s program expansion grants; awards US $10,000 for PLTW implementation costs. Funding may cover participation fees, required devices, equipment, supplies, and PLTW Core Training with related travel, room, and board.

ACF General Scholarship

The ACF Scholarship Fund was established in 2008. Any student attending an Arizona public community college or university who demonstrates a financial need, as determined by their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is eligible to apply. Applicants who have experienced foster care are given preference.

Arizona Department of Agriculture

The Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) protects consumer safety, facilitates commerce, promotes equity in the Arizona marketplace, and safeguards market access both domestically and internationally through a variety of inspection, licensing, and certification programs involving plants, livestock, meat, dairy, vegetables, citrus, fruit, eggs, feed, fertilizer, seed, agricultural and non-agricultural pesticides, packaged consumer goods, retail pricing, and commercial weighing and measuring devices. AZDA protects and guards against the risks associated with the entry and spread of plant and livestock pests and diseases. AZDA protects environmental resiliency through education and training programs to assure safe pesticide use and on-farm food safety, and assists in attaining air quality standards. AZDA maintains a state lab for testing agricultural samples and a lab for ensuring the accuracy of weights and measurement tools. AZDA provides non-regulatory assistance to members of the agricultural community and administers agricultural grant programs.

Section 6 - Segment 32 Grant Program

Program Background

The Section 6 Grant Program is funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) through the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund Traditional Conservation Grants Program Region 2 which is established under the authority of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973, 16 U.S.C. § 1535. This program supports the development and implementation of State programs to conserve and recover threatened and endangered species under USFWS jurisdiction.

Because many listed species spend at least part of their life cycle on non-Federal lands, USFWS recognizes that conservation success depends heavily on working cooperatively with States. In Arizona, the AZDA collaborates with the USFWS to manage and allocate Section 6 funding specifically for rare plants.

Eligible projects consist of habitat restoration/enhancement, surveys and inventories, plant propagation, genetic research (population health and structure), and monitoring/demography studies.

Matching Requirement: Applicants are required to provide matching funds in the form of cash or in-kind contribution of no less than 40%.

The Del E. Webb Foundation Grant offers financial support ranging from $5,000 to $3,000,000 for nonprofit organizations operating in Arizona, California, or Nevada. The foundation prioritizes projects that enhance self-sufficiency and have long-term benefits, particularly in child and health initiatives. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities and demonstrate a commitment to community service. The application process involves submitting a Letter of Intent, followed by a formal application if invited.

AKN Family Scholarship

The AKN Family Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship intended to support seniors graduating either from BASIS Charter Schools or Brophy College Preparatory (preferred, but not exclusive) whose college major will be a Humanities-related field.

The Arizona Breaking Barriers Scholarship, offered by Desert Financial Foundation, supports high school seniors in Arizona who demonstrate resilience as student athletes. Established in 2021, this scholarship awards $3,000 to fifteen eligible students, helping them pursue higher education at an in-state college. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and show financial need. This initiative reflects the foundation's commitment to strengthening communities through education and support for students facing challenges.

The Arizona Housing Fund Grant supports permanent supportive housing projects for vulnerable individuals and families earning up to 30% AMI. Funded by the Arizona Community Foundation, this initiative aims to reduce homelessness by providing sustainable revenue for non-profit developers. Eligible organizations must have at least five years of experience and prior funding from recognized entities. The grant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring timely assistance to mission-aligned projects in Arizona.

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in Arizona allocates funding to nonprofit organizations at high risk of terrorist attacks or hate crimes. Established by state law, it offers up to $1 million over fiscal years 2024-2028, with a maximum of $100,000 available per organization each year. This initiative aims to enhance safety through target hardening and security improvements, supporting nonprofits vulnerable due to their beliefs or mission.
