Applicants must be children or grandchildren of full-time Hotstart employees who have a minimum of two years employment with Hotstart as of the application deadline date. 

Previous recipients are eligible to re-apply, but an individual may receive an award no more than four times. 

The Smart Family Fund is a private foundation dedicated to supporting early-stage non-profits that demonstrate the potential for scalable, positive impact. The J. T. - Minnie Maude Charitable Trust aims to enhance educational opportunities by providing financial assistance to deserving students in the Danville/Pittsylvania County area. Additionally, it supports local non-profit organizations through charitable grants. The Trust upholds the legacy of its founder, J. T. Emerson, by ensuring that funds benefit the community directly and prohibits the diversion of resources for political activities.

The Summer Grant Cycle from the Larry Woodrow Vest Fund supports charitable organizations serving residents of Floyd County. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with all coursework completed and engaged full-time in their dissertation work during the fellowship year.

The Culpeper Foundation Fund Grant, offered by the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, supports various community initiatives in Culpeper County, including education, health, and arts. Grants typically range from $500 to $2,500 and are available to nonprofit organizations or projects that benefit local residents. This funding aims to enhance community well-being and preserve the quality of life for all in the area.
