Launched in 2023, Entrada DREAMS is a competitive annual grant program designed to fund efforts within the Duchenne muscular dystrophy community to better identify, understand and reach those who are currently underrepresented and underserved.

This year, two nonprofit organizations will each receive a $50,000 USD grant to fund projects that advance equity, accessibility and inclusion for individuals with Duchenne. Entrada will award one grant to a U.S.-based nonprofit and another to a nonprofit in the UK or EU.

The monetary value of each scholarship award varies depending upon the amount available in each individual scholarship fund. Scholarship award amounts range from $1,000 - $5,000 for a single year.

Robert and Judy Dreiling Scholarship

This scholarship offered to northern Nevada residents who are high school graduates or who have earned a high school equivalency certificate and adults seeking education to attain better employment.

The ideal candidates will be enrolled in an Associate's Degree track or certificate program at the school of their choice; the degree track or certificate program should result in a good lead to a good job. 

The scholarship will pay up to $5,000 for an Associate’s Degree or certificate program at private trade schools or community colleges for one or more candidates. You will be asked to write brief essays discussing: your life, your plans for the future, why you chose your certificate program, and how your education will impact your life and your family.

Improving Metastatic Prostate Cancer (mPCa) Care Through Innovative Strategies

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® and Pfizer Global Medical Grants (Pfizer) are collaborating to offer a new grant opportunity seeking proposals for investigator-initiated research to improve mPCa care. Pfizer (hereafter, “Grantor”) is providing $1 Million in funding to support quality improvement studies to advance health care quality, the delivery of quality care, and improve health care provider performance in mPCa care. The Grantor will serve as the funding organization. Grants are available to all investigators from institutions within the United States. 

Aim

To promote the advancement of scientific knowledge, health care provider performance, and/or health care quality improvement focused on improving mPCa care.

A total of $1 Million is available to fund all projects. The intent is to fund 2-5 studies. There is a funding cap of $250,000 per study. Exceptional studies with budgets above this amount will be considered based on scientific merit and must contain a robust justification. All budgets must include line-item information and robust justification.

The J.W. “Jim” and Sallie Word, Jr. Scholarship is managed by the Beckley Area Foundation, supporting students attending Concord University who demonstrate academic promise and financial need. The Foundation aims to enhance educational opportunities for students from Raleigh County, WV, through generous charitable contributions. This scholarship provides vital assistance, ensuring that deserving candidates can pursue their higher education goals and contribute positively to their communities.

The Westminster Presbyterian Church Scholarship aims to address contemporary community needs by providing financial support for education and job training. This initiative, led by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, emphasizes a holistic approach to community welfare, including arts, infrastructure, and wellness. It is designed for individuals who are currently employed full-time and seeking further education or job training opportunities.

The Nancy R. Smith Environmental Studies Scholarship, offered by the Beckley Area Foundation, provides financial assistance to students from southern West Virginia pursuing degrees in environmental studies. This merit- and need-based scholarship prioritizes applicants from Raleigh County and supports those studying fields related to environmental preservation. It is renewable for recipients who maintain academic standards, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to fostering education and sustainable community development in the region.

The Judge C. Berkley and Lee Lilly Scholarship, managed by the Beckley Area Foundation, aims to support upper-class students from Raleigh or Fayette County public schools. This scholarship rotates among five designated universities, including WVU-Institute of Technology and Duke University. The 'Repurposing Research for Chicago - Track 1 – Health Equity' grant, offered by Cures Within Reach, aims to fund clinical repurposing trials addressing health disparities among underrepresented populations. With a budget of up to $100,000, it encourages trials led by underrepresented researchers or focusing on women's health. The initiative seeks to enhance the quality of life in the Chicagoland area through effective and innovative medical solutions, fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.

The Tucker County Giving Circle is a philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting the women and children of Tucker County. In partnership with the Tucker Community Foundation, they provide grants to local not-for-profits that align with their mission of enhancing life skills. The Circle emphasizes community engagement and ethical stewardship of donations, ensuring resources are used effectively for lasting impact. By fostering a supportive network, they aim to address the unique needs of women and children in the region.

The Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Washington County, MD, supports graduating seniors from various educational backgrounds in Washington County. This scholarship honors Ryan Myers' legacy, encouraging students pursuing higher education, trade schools, or apprenticeships. Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Inc 

PHACE syndrome is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by large segmental infantile hemangiomas of the face and scalp in association with congenital anomalies that may affect the posterior fossa of the brain, cerebral and cervical arteries, heart, and/or eyes. LUMBAR syndrome is the lower-body counterpart of PHACE, characterized by large segmental infantile hemangiomas of the lumbosacral, buttock or pelvic regions associated with urogenital, spinal, bony, anorectal, and/or renal abnormalities. Those affected experience a wide range of comorbidities with significant psychosocial impact. We invite proposals for clinical research that improves diagnostic approaches, enhances quality of life, and addresses key aspects of disease burden and management.

Applications may be submitted by either a single investigator or multiple investigators at multiple institutions. A total of $40,000 is available and may be awarded as one large-scale project or as multiple smaller awards, depending on the number and quality of applications received. Equal consideration will be given to projects in either of the two award formats with decisions to be based upon merit and available funds.

Focus

Research should focus on PHACE and/or LUMBAR syndromes. Priority will be given to investigators who have not previously served as the senior investigator on an R01 NIH grant or equivalent, and to studies that include multidisciplinary teams with active roles for early-career investigators. Proposals that meaningfully integrate patient perspectives are strongly encouraged.

The Great Lakes Bay Pride Scholarship, offered by the Saginaw Community Foundation, supports Michigan residents dedicated to promoting respect and acceptance across diverse backgrounds. This scholarship is open to high school seniors and college students pursuing undergraduate or Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, with awards ranging from $500 to $4,000. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate commitment through volunteer work in the LGBTQ+ community.

ATS/PHA Early Career Award

One grant is available for early-career investigators interested in pulmonary hypertension research who are likely to make a strong and sustained impact in PH research. This grant is co-funded by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and ATS.

Areas of interest for proposals include:

• Investigating the pathophysiology of PH
• Elucidating mechanistic pathways
• Identifying novel therapeutic targets or biomarkers in adult or pediatric pulmonary hypertension

The project should have potential applicability to human pulmonary vascular diseases.

Applicants may request up to $50,000 for one year for salaries or supplies or a combination thereof.

The Spencer Educational Foundation was founded by the Rims Atlanta Chapter in 1979. To this day, Spencer remains the premier organization funding the education of tomorrow's risk management and insurance leaders.
