In recognition of National Library Day, Rob-See-Co, an independent seed company located in Elkhorn, Neb. is proud to announce the continuation of its Rural Library Grant program.

Originally launched in 2023 to commemorate the company’s 10th anniversary and honor Agnes Robinson’s dedication to the rural library in Waterloo, NE, the program continues to hold special meaning. Agnes, great-grandmother of Jim Robinson, CEO of Rob-See-Co, was a passionate advocate for rural libraries. Today, the program extends support to libraries across rural communities within the company’s footprint. 

The focus areas for grant distributions from the Rob-See-Co Rural Library Grant program will assist local libraries with expanding book collections, core educational programs for adults or children, and computer or software upgrades. Examples of this would be new books, expansion of school visits or field trips, digitizing research materials, support for funding traveling exhibits and speakers.

Rob-See-Co will award ten grants to selected rural libraries across CO, IA, KS, MD, MI, MN, ND, NE, OH, OK, PA, SD, TX and WI. Funds may be used for core educational, preservation and interpretive purposes, including collection development, facility improvements, traveling exhibits, guest speakers, staff training, programming, and publications. 

The WAB Creation and Presentation Grant provides vital support to established nonprofit arts organizations in Wisconsin that create or present significant arts programming. This grant emphasizes community impact and artistic quality, requiring applicants to demonstrate a history of consistent artistic activities and community engagement. Eligible organizations must be incorporated in Wisconsin, hold 501(c)(3) status, and provide a dollar-for-dollar match of funding. The Von Voigtlander Family Foundation Grant, though currently closed, aims to support 501(c)(3) charitable organizations, primarily in Michigan. Grants are reimbursement-based, requiring applicants to cover costs upfront. Eligible entities include governmental agencies and educational institutions. The program prioritizes sustainable practices in managing Wisconsin's natural resources while providing safe outdoor recreational opportunities. The Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame Scholarships, including the Thiessen Field Scholarship, aim to support Wisconsin residents pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace. Established in 2005 by Jerome Thiessen, these scholarships total over $300,000 annually, benefiting more than 200 students. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, a passion for aviation, and be enrolled in an aviation program in Wisconsin. The scholarships encourage students with lower GPAs or financial challenges to apply.

The Alleghany Foundation, a private 501(c)(3) organization in Virginia, focuses on enhancing the quality of life in the Alleghany Highlands through strategic funding initiatives. The Curt Marzolf Memorial Scholarship, managed by The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, offers financial assistance to graduating seniors from Monroe, Argyle, Juda, or South Wayne high schools pursuing engineering studies at accredited colleges. This scholarship aims to support students who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and encourages applicants with interests in hunting, fishing, or related fields, although this is not a requirement. The External Collaborative Research Grants by Boehringer Ingelheim support academic and clinical scientists in proposing research studies. Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program

The purpose of BIG is to construct, renovate and maintain boating infrastructure facilities for transient recreational vessels at least 26 feet long.

Project Cost

• Construction, renovation and maintenance of boating infrastructure tie-up facilities, solely for transient recreational vessels 26 feet or more in length. Does not include: Commercial vessels, cruise ships, dive boats, ferries and vessels that operate permanently from the proposed project location.
• Produce information and education materials specific to BIG or BIG funded projects (i.e. charts, cruising guides, and brochures).

Special Conditions or Requirements

• Facilities constructed, operated or maintained with grant funds must offer reasonable access for all transient recreational vessels for the full period of their useful life.
• Facilities must be open to the public during reasonable time periods.
• Entities may charge fees. Fees must be comparable to the prevailing rate in the area.
• New construction and renovations must be designed to last throughout its useful life.
• BIG grants require a minimum of 25% matching funds, federal share not to exceed 75% total costs.

The Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program has two Tiers: Tier 1 - State; and Tier 2 - National

Provides up to $300,000 per year to the state of Wisconsin. Projects are competitively ranked within the state.

ATV/UTV Trail Aids Program

A financial assistance program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

The all-terrain vehicle and utility terrain vehicle trail aids grant program was created with section 23.33, Wis. Stats. This law authorizes the Department to administer a program of financial assistance to local units of government and federal agencies for the acquiring, developing, rehabilitating, insuring and maintaining of off-road all-terrain and utility terrain vehicle trails, intensive use areas, and more. 

Counties, towns, cities, villages and tribes can apply for funds to acquire, insure, develop and maintain ATV/UTV trails, areas and routes.

Ranking Priorities

Trail funds are distributed according to the following ranked purposes (NR 64.14 [exit DNR]):

• maintenance of existing, approved trails, areas, and routes;
• liability insurance acquisition;
• easement acquisition;
• major rehabilitation of bridge structures or trails; and
• Land acquisition and development of new ATV trails and areas.

Eligible items and funding levels include:

• all-terrain/utility-terrain vehicle trails available for spring, summer, and fall reimbursable up to 100 percent of eligible maintenance costs (max: $1,000 per mile);
• all-terrain vehicle trails available for winter riding reimbursable up to 100 percent of eligible maintenance costs (max: $100 to $300 per mile depending on other uses);
• development of ATV trails and areas reimbursable up to 100 percent of eligible costs;
• major rehabilitation of bridge structures or trails reimbursable up to 100 percent of eligible costs; and
• maintenance of ATV intensive use areas reimbursable up to 50 percent of eligible costs.

The WDNR Forest Fire Protection Grant Program provides 50% cost-share funding to Wisconsin fire departments and county fire associations. This initiative aims to enhance local fire departments' capabilities for initial-attack fire suppression on forest fires. Eligible applicants must have a signed DNR Memorandum of Understanding for Mutual Aid and Fire Suppression Services. The grant prioritizes funding for protective equipment, training, prevention, and suppression tools to strengthen community resilience against forest fires.

The Wetland Restoration Incentives Grant, funded by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, offers $10,000 incentives for projects enhancing or restoring wetlands. Grantees must have completed a comprehensive land use plan that demonstrates a connection to lakes. This initiative directly supports the preservation of Wisconsin's natural resources, including surface water management and ecological health. By promoting sustainable practices, it aims to foster community engagement and environmental stewardship while addressing the challenges of wetland degradation.

The Community Facilities Grant Program in Wisconsin provides essential funding to develop community facilities in rural areas. It supports public bodies, non-profits, and tribes in purchasing, constructing, and improving facilities that serve local communities. Projects eligible for funding must be located in areas with populations under 20,000 and meet specific income criteria. The program aims to enhance community services such as healthcare, safety, education, and public utilities, ensuring sustainable development in rural settings.

The Angler Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation Grant Program, managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, aims to increase angling participation among diverse adult audiences in Wisconsin. This program provides financial support to eligible organizations for activities that foster a safe and ethical fishing experience. By promoting community engagement and education, the grant seeks to enhance the number of active anglers, ensuring sustainable fishing practices and preserving Wisconsin's natural resources.

The Battlefield Preservation Fund Grant aims to support initiatives that preserve battlefields and related historic sites. This funding encourages planning and educational efforts, particularly those that engage new audiences in preservation activities. Eligible applicants include public agencies and nonprofits in specified states. Grants can be used for staff support, consultant fees, and educational materials. Applicants must provide a one-to-one match for funding, ensuring strong community involvement in preservation efforts.

The WDNR's Forest Fire Protection Grant Program offers 50% cost-share grants to Wisconsin fire departments and county/area fire associations. This funding aims to enhance local fire departments' roles in strengthening the Department of Natural Resources' initial-attack capabilities for forest fire suppression. Eligible applicants must serve organized forest fire control areas designated by the DNR, and prioritized funding includes protective equipment, training, and essential suppression tools.

The AROW Global Corporation Scholarship, established in 2022, provides up to $1,500 for high school seniors from central Wisconsin. This scholarship supports students who plan to attend accredited colleges, universities, or technical schools in any field. A total of over $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded to more than 200 students through the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, enhancing educational opportunities and community growth.

The Garden Club of America Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies supports graduate students engaged in coastal wetlands research. Established through the Rockefeller Environmental Education Fund, this scholarship promotes conservation by funding field work in tidal and nontidal wetlands across coastal states, including the Great Lakes. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. graduate program and can propose their own wetlands study. The award aims to foster environmental education and scientific inquiry in this vital ecosystem.

The Carol Hoops Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin Scholarship provides essential financial support to graduating seniors, GED graduates, and both traditional and non-traditional college students from Northcentral Wisconsin. This scholarship aims to empower students involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for at least six months, helping them pursue their educational and career aspirations. With over $300,000 in scholarships awarded annually, the initiative significantly enhances the quality of life in the community.

The AROW Family Members Scholarship, funded by the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, offers scholarships up to $5,000 for family members of AROW employees. Established in 2022, it supports students pursuing post-secondary education in engineering or other fields. Eligibility includes being a high school senior accepted into college or technical school. Over $300,000 in scholarships will be awarded to more than 200 students from the region, enhancing educational opportunities and community growth.

Underserved Drinking Water System

The federal Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act of 2016 (WIIN) provided funds to assist public water systems in small, underserved and disadvantaged communities in resolving violations and action level exceedances of the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations. The Wisconsin DNR received funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set up the Underserved Drinking Water System Grant Program in Wisconsin. The DNR will issue approximately $1.3 million in grants to OTM and nonprofit NN public water systems serving small and underserved communities in Wisconsin.

What are OTMs?

Other-Than-Municipal Community (OTM) public water systems are not owned by a government or municipality and serve groups of 25 or more year-round residents. OTMs can include mobile home parks, apartment buildings and condominium associations that are not on city or municipal water.

What are nonprofit NNs?

Non-Transient Non-Community (NN) public water systems are nonresidential and regularly serve groups of at least 25 of the same people over six months of the year. NNs can include schools and daycare centers that are not on city or municipal water. A nonprofit NN is a government entity or an organization that is described under section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue code, which does not lobby. NNs must be nonprofit in order to qualify.

CSA Midwest Region: Beth Dunlap Award

 The Midwestern Region presents The Beth Dunlap Award at the Regional Symposium. The award will be offered to a person who has made contributions worthy of the highest commendation and the achievements will have continued importance. Beth Dunlap was one of the founding members of the Midwestern Region. A fashion illustrator and artist, she passed away in 2009.

The Tourist Information Center (TIC) Grant Program, funded by Travel Wisconsin, supports nonprofit tourism organizations, municipalities, and Native American tribes in operating regional tourist information centers. This program offers reimbursement for up to 50% of eligible expenses, including staffing, signage, and display equipment, with a maximum of $15,000 per organization per year. This initiative aims to enhance traveler services and boost the economic impact of tourism in Wisconsin.

Altrusa International of Marshfield Scholarship

This scholarship is for a non-traditional/returning student from the Marshfield area. Applicant must be attending/plan to attend UWSP at Marshfield or Mid-State Technical College pursuing an undergraduate degree. Preference to an applicant showing motivation and character, & past academic performance.

The Small Business Development Grant (SBDG) in Wisconsin aims to enhance local economies by providing financial support to small business development organizations.
