In 1999, the founding members of Foothills Community Foundation shared a vision for our community. They focused their time, resources, and mission to promote philanthropy and provide a catalyst for giving in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties.

Today, our leaders share the same vision. We work to inspire participation in philanthropy and retain the charitable wealth in our community to positively impact lives now and for future generations.

Scholarships

Several different scholarship funds have been established by individuals, companies, and organizations wanting to assist individuals with furthering their education. All qualified applicants will be graduating high school seniors except for renewal options specifically noted.

Irvin Cauthen Scholarship

Seniors from Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens County who plan to major in business or engineering at Anderson University, Florida State University, Clemson University or Georgia Tech are qualified. This scholarship is renewable.

Scholarship funds are awarded for one academic year. A renewal application is required for each academic year with demonstration of being in good standing at their school of choice.

The Georgia Promise Scholarship, established by the Georgia Student Finance Commission in 2024, empowers families to choose nonpublic education options, including private schools and home study programs. This initiative allows eligible families to utilize funds for tuition, textbooks, tutoring, and other educational expenses. To qualify, students must have been enrolled in a Georgia public school or be rising kindergartners, while income level considerations apply for Spring Semester enrollment. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities for Georgia’s students.

Kiwanis Club of Marietta members participate in service projects, hold fundraisers, and change children’s lives in our community. In addition, club members contribute to Kiwanis International initiatives helping clubs around the world assist children with education, basic needs, and medical care.

The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.

Marietta Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Skilled Trades Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2024 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and created to encourage applicants entering occupations in the skilled trades. 

The scholarship may cover tuition or recognized associated educational needs, with funds still dispensed through the program or school.

The Georgia HERO Scholarship Program, managed by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, offers educational scholarships to members of the Georgia National Guard and U.S. Military Reservists who served in combat zones. It also extends benefits to their spouses and children, ensuring that those who have served the nation receive support for their educational goals. This initiative reflects Georgia's commitment to its military families and promotes access to higher education for those who have sacrificed for their country.

The Georgia College Completion Grant (GCCG) is designed to assist eligible students at postsecondary institutions in Georgia facing a financial aid gap. To qualify, students must meet specific credit hour requirements and have an outstanding balance for direct costs. This grant aims to support those enrolled in two-year or four-year programs and ensures that financial barriers do not hinder educational progress. Applications are accepted until the last day of the school term or withdrawal date.

The Mary Allen Lindsey Branan Foundation, established in memory of Charles I. Branan's mother, aims to alleviate suffering through charitable endeavors. Focused on public benefit, religion, environment, human services, and health, it supports 501(c)(3) organizations in Georgia. The foundation prioritizes aid for flood victims, the sick, and orphans, ensuring that its contributions foster a compassionate community dedicated to helping those in need.

The Sapelo Foundation Grants focus on enhancing social justice in Georgia, particularly for marginalized communities. Their mission includes fostering civic power and environmental protection through effective policies and practices. They prioritize voting rights and criminal justice reforms, aiming to empower more Georgians to engage in civic advocacy. Grants are typically awarded to 501(c)3 organizations committed to serving areas outside metro Atlanta, ensuring broader participation and equitable access to resources.

The Honda USA Foundation's Mobility Pillar Award aims to empower individuals with disabilities by funding programs that enhance access and mobility. The foundation supports nonprofit organizations and schools that provide therapeutic, adaptive, and comprehensive care programs, as well as mobility modifications and assistive technology. Applications are accepted from U.S.-based organizations with 501(c)(3) status or fiscal sponsors, ensuring that the joy of mobility is accessible to all.

The Environment Pillar Award by Honda supports nonprofit organizations and schools in the U.S. focused on sustainability. Grants aim to reduce environmental impact through programs in decarbonization, clean energy, and efficient resource use. Eligible projects must align with Honda's mission and primarily benefit communities where Honda associates live and work. Organizations can apply for up to two grants, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria, including tax-exempt status under the IRS.

The Programmatic Support - Education Pillar Award by Honda aims to enhance workforce readiness in the manufacturing sector. It supports nonprofit organizations and schools focused on hands-on programs in design, software/data analytics, and AI/machine learning. Eligible applicants must be US-based and have 501(c)(3) status. The initiative prioritizes projects that train individuals for manufacturing roles, develop technical skills, and introduce automation to prepare for evolving industry demands, ultimately fostering economic prosperity in local communities.

The Artists, Writers and Scholars Program, funded by Georgia Sea Grant, supports creative individuals in Georgia to produce art and literature that highlights the state's coastal and marine environments. Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to enhance awareness and understanding of Georgia's rich history and culture. This initiative encourages applications from marginalized groups, fostering diversity and inclusion within the arts community.

The GA Arts: Cultural Facilities Grant, provided by the Georgia Council for the Arts, aims to support the construction, renovation, or acquisition of facilities to enhance arts programs. This grant encourages a diverse range of organizations, from emerging to established, to apply and contribute to the economic and cultural vitality of Georgia communities. By fostering the arts, GCA seeks to enrich lives and promote community engagement, ultimately showcasing the significant impact of the arts throughout the state.

The GA Arts: Project Grant, offered by the Georgia Council for the Arts, fosters community growth by supporting a variety of art projects, from exhibits to workshops. This initiative aims to enhance economic development, enrich lives, and promote the arts' impact in Georgia. By funding both artistic and capacity-building projects, the grant encourages local engagement and strategic planning for future arts initiatives, ultimately cultivating vibrant communities through creative expression.

The Georgia Arts: Arts Education Program Grant aims to enhance arts education for K-12 students by supporting programs from Georgia organizations, schools, and agencies. With grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, it funds both one-time events and ongoing programs that align with Georgia Learning Standards. The initiative promotes a cohesive artistic experience, encouraging applications for virtual programming options, ensuring that the transformative power of the arts can reach diverse student populations.

The Georgia Emergency Solutions Grants program offers critical support for individuals facing homelessness through services like street outreach, emergency shelter, and rapid re-housing. Local government and non-profit organizations receive funding to implement these essential services, ensuring a continuum of care that helps vulnerable populations achieve housing stability. The James M. Cox Foundation Grant offers support to nonprofit organizations focused on conservation, early childhood education, family empowerment, and health. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and located in areas where Cox Enterprises operates. Grant applications are accepted year-round, with deadlines before Trustee meetings. Preference is given to organizations with a history of local engagement. This foundation embodies the philanthropic spirit of its founder, James M. Cox, by giving back to the community.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources, through GAEPD, offers competitive Section 319(h) awards up to US $600,000, which can cover up to 60% of total project costs for qualifying efforts that enhance water resources and related public health outcomes.

The American Honda Foundation provides programmatic support to nonprofit organizations and schools in the U.S., empowering impactful initiatives aligned with community needs. Funding opportunities are available through Honda corporate and Honda USA Foundation, focusing on projects that enhance education and community welfare. Eligible organizations must have nonprofit status or be recognized educational institutions. The High School Equivalency Examination Grant Program (HSE) in Georgia provides financial assistance for residents seeking to take state-approved equivalency exams. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including residency and citizenship requirements, to qualify for this valuable educational resource.
