This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of the Family of Danny McCarty, who established the Danny McCarty Memorial Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Mason County. Deb Del Zoppo and her family established a scholarship in memory of her nephew, Danny McCarty, after he passed away at the age of 26 in a motorcycle accident in Colorado. Danny was involved in the construction trades, so the focus of the two-year scholarship ($500 each year) is to support students who are going into that field of study.

Joseph P. Siegferth Sr. and Family Fund

Established by Joseph P. Siegferth Jr. in memory of his father to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors majoring in elementary education, K-12 physical education, sports management or logistics.

This scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of Dr. John Carney, who established the Drs. Ruth & John Carney & Irene Carney Kendrick Memorial Scholarship of the Community Foundation for Mason County.

The Carney’s love of Ludington ran deep, and they served the Ludington community through their family medical practice for over 42 years. Dr. Carney valued education and wanted to help others achieve their dreams. John’s encouraging spirit lives on through this scholarship, established in memory of his first wife and their late daughter, to create opportunities for adult students, students pursuing postgraduate degrees, or those facing barriers to getting a college degree.

FBi Construction created a scholarship fund at ECCF in 2017 to encourage students to enter the construction industry. South East Express Scholarship

In 2019, to commemorate its 25th anniversary, South East Express, Inc. in Timmonsville, SC, established a permanent endowed scholarship at Eastern Carolina Community Foundation. The award is designated for a graduating senior from Florence One High Schools in Florence County, SC where the company is located. In addition, South East Express also plans to sponsor a paid summer internship for the winning applicant to learn more about the company and how it impacts the quality of life in Florence County.

Medina County Women's Scholarship FundOriginally established by the American Association of University Women of Medina County to award scholarships to nontraditional female students. A nontraditional student is a woman whose undergraduate education has been interrupted or delayed.Amount:

The U.S. Department of Justice is inviting applications for the FY26 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) to streamline the grant process for federally recognized tribes. The Strengthening Services to Prevent the Infectious Disease Consequences of Drug Use initiative aims to enhance prevention services for infectious diseases among people who use drugs (PWUD). It encompasses two components: a biennial survey to assess service gaps and capacity, and increased support for testing and treatment services. The initiative seeks to improve data utilization in service provision, ultimately increasing testing for HBV, HCV, and HIV, and ensuring more PWUD engage in treatment and care.

The CDC is allocating funds through NOFO DD-27-0028 to enhance maternal child health surveillance and partnerships. This initiative targets public health challenges such as alcohol use during pregnancy and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs). Melanoma Research Foundation Breakthrough Consortium Request for Proposals (RFP)

2026 Pilot Translational Award

The Melanoma Research Foundation Breakthrough Consortium (MRFBC) is a national network of 33 centers of excellence in melanoma. MRFBC’s centers collaborate to accelerate research and development of the most promising therapies in melanoma treatment to deliver curative options to patients.

The MRFBC is releasing this RFP to fund a one-year pilot proposal for $50,000 to focus on clinical/translational research. As this is for a pilot award, preliminary data is not required. Successful applications will emphasize novel, innovative translational proposals focused on clinical/translational research. This grant is not intended to support a clinical trial; however, this award could support correlative or bioinformatic work that accompanies a clinical trial. The goal of the pilot proposal should be to create findings that could then lend themselves to larger, multicenter grant proposals.
