Grant Categories: Consortium Grant

 Grants stimulate a consortium of clinical, basic, translational and underrepresented research institutions/centers to conduct high quality grant-supported research. The consortium should involve partnerships to be developed among investigators across the state of Florida, with the award made to the lead organization. The lead organization of the consortium must perform a substantive role in conducting the planned research including providing oversight of all scientific, programmatic, financial, and administrative matters related to the grant. The collaborating organizations must have well-defined roles that contribute to the common scientifically rigorous research goals, and include sound background information, hypotheses, protocols, and promising practices that address clearly one or more areas of research interest. A letter of commitment from all collaborating organizations is recommended. Grants may range from discovery science to more mature projects that are attempting to advance a therapeutic approach or concept. Research organizations are eligible to apply for no more than one Consortium Grant.

The Professional Development and Artistic Planning Grants, offered by South Arts, support the professional growth of presenters, programmers, and curators in the Southern U.S. These grants facilitate travel to conferences, workshops, and other opportunities to enhance organizational capacity and program design. Grant Categories: Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Grant

Grants support the career development of individuals who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on research oriented to clinical service, evaluation, neurochemistry, neurosciences, neuromedicine, neurotherapeutics, neuropharmacology, neuropathology, etc. Research organizations are eligible to apply for no more than one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Grant.

Florida Constitution authorizes the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

The Florida Constitution authorizes the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to enact rules and regulations regarding the state's fish and wildlife resources. To do this, the 7 FWC Commissioners meet 4 times each year to hear staff reports, consider rule proposals and conduct other Commission business.

Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIGP)

The Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIGP) provides funding through competitive grants for tie-up facilities for transient recreational boats 26 feet or longer (non-trailerable). This program is funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. 

Types of Funding Available

There are two types of grants, Tier I and Tier II

Tier I Projects

In any given funding cycle, the State of Florida may receive a total of $300,000 for Tier I projects. All Tier I projects must meet the eligibility requirements of 50 CFR 86.20. Each Tier I project cannot exceed $300,000; however, the State of Florida may select one (1) or as many Tier I projects as are eligible so long as the aggregate of these projects does not total more than that year's funding cycle allotment. Tier One projects compete against other Florida projects for funding.

The Florida Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIGP) Tier II offers competitive funding for transient recreational boat tie-up facilities. With an annual budget between $9 million and $14 million, it supports projects exceeding 26 feet in length. While there is no maximum project cost, federal funding is capped at $1.5 million. This program, overseen by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, encourages innovative proposals that meet stringent eligibility criteria.

State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (S.A.F.E.)

State funding is available to conduct investigations designed to combat illegal fentanyl activity. This grant provides reimbursement for approved fentanyl-related investigative operations, which may include:

• Relevant Contractual Services
• Training Costs
• Other Costs Associated with Cases Focusing on Fentanyl Eradication

Awards

Available funds will be distributed based on the operational needs of each agency’s investigations as approved by the S.A.F.E. Executive Board, not to exceed a combined total of $12,902,972.

Subject to legislative approval and the governor’s signature, state funds are appropriated under the 2026-2027 state of Florida General Appropriations Act (Item Number 121 – Aid to Local Governments – Grant Aids) to establish new and operate or expand existing registered apprenticeship or preapprenticeship programs. 

The Big Nova Grant supports Central Florida organizations dedicated to impactful community initiatives. The foundation invites proposals that align with its mission, particularly in wildlife conservation, patient support, and uplifting the less fortunate. With ongoing funding decisions, projects demonstrating significant potential and innovation are prioritized. Pathways to Career Opportunities – Grow Your Own Teacher Apprenticeship Program

The state funds appropriated in House Bill 5001, General Appropriations Act (GAA) (Item Number 121 – Aid to Local Governments – Grant Aids), includes a $5 million set aside for the Grow Your Own Teacher Apprenticeship Program.

The purpose of this sub-initiative is to increase the supply of qualified teachers by creating a teacher pipeline for Florida. It is designed to encourage partnerships between eligible applicants and participating employers (Florida school districts, charter schools and charter management organizations) to provide an innovative, no-cost pathway to the teaching profession for registered teacher apprentices.

The funds for this grant are appropriated in the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) as a sub initiative to the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant (PCOG).

The Hubert E. Sapp Regular Grant Cycle, by Southern Partners Fund, aims to empower rural communities in the Southeastern U.S. through grassroots leadership and organizing. The fund provides support to nonprofit organizations focused on social, economic, and environmental justice. Eligible applicants are community-based organizations with budgets under $350,000. The initiative honors Hubert E. Sapp's legacy, promoting equitable relationships that drive real transformation and community decision-making.

The Southern Partners Fund's Discretionary Fund Grant aims to support grassroots community organizing for social, economic, and environmental justice in the Southeastern United States. It provides financial resources and technical assistance to rural organizations and leaders focused on transformative change. Eligible applicants include self-governed rural groups engaging in advocacy and community development. The fund prioritizes education reform, immigration rights, and voter engagement, allowing up to two requests per year, with a maximum award of $3,500.

The Leo Goodwin Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations that enrich lives, inspire hope, and promote good health in the community. By providing financial contributions, the foundation focuses on areas such as children's services, education, the arts, health, and human services. Eligible organizations must be classified as 501(c)(3) charitable entities and demonstrate a strong mission and fiscal responsibility, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most. Grants are awarded year-round to foster community growth and well-being.

The California Casualty Thomas R. Brown Athletics Grant aims to support public middle and high school sports programs facing funding challenges due to budget cuts. Established by California Casualty, this grant provides financial assistance for purchasing equipment and covering travel costs for competitions. Eligible applicants must be active employees of public schools and members of affiliated education associations. Awards cannot be used for individual student recognition or fundraising projects.

With a mission to advance progressive change, Educational Foundation of America provides Florida civic engagement and voting organizations with support to expand voter access and participation. Nonprofits bolstering democratic participation among New American Majority populations and pursuing fair redistricting, community power-building, and long-term structural reforms may be considered, typically by invitation through the Make Democracy Work Program.

The Exhibitions Abroad Support Grant Program, initiated by the Japan Foundation in New York, offers financial aid to U.S. museums and art institutions organizing exhibitions that showcase Japanese art and culture internationally. This program supports a range of events, including biennials and triennials featuring Japanese artists. Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations from designated states, with a focus on promoting cultural exchange and understanding through art.

Adult ESOL and family literacy programs in Florida can apply for Florida Literacy Coalition’s Florida Health Literacy Grants, awarding up to US $5,000 to advance community health education. Preschools with family literacy or adult education components may be eligible if they integrate health literacy into their programming.

Florida animal welfare nonprofits and municipal animal care/control agencies in Florida can receive up to US $25,000 for cat and dog spay/neuter programs that expand sterilization services, especially for underserved pets and communities. Florida Animal Friend provides funding for low-income pet owners, pit bull/large breed dogs, community cats, and areas lacking existing spay/neuter options, which may benefit preschool-affiliated outreach efforts.
