The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded on March 23, 1973, and incorporated in the state of New York on September 12, 1973. CSA serves it members, and promotes its goals with national symposia and publications including the journal Dress and its monthly electronic newsletter CSA e-News.

The organization began forming regional groups in 1978. There are six regional groups in the United States and Canada, and one international group. Individual regions hold annual meetings, sponsor programs and publish newsletters.

Our Mission

The Costume Society of America fosters an understanding of appearance and dress practices of people across the globe through research, education, preservation, and design. Our network of members studies the past, examines the present, and anticipates the future of clothing and fashion.

Jim Liles Student Award

 The Jim Liles Student Award is intended to assist students who want to make presentations at a CSA Southeastern Region symposium. These presentations may be on any costume-related topic. The work should be well researched and may or may not be thesis, dissertation, course research project, independent study research, or senior project related. Up to TWO students whose papers are accepted will receive up to $1,000 each to cover travel and other related expenses. The Registration fee will be waived for all student presenters, regardless of whether they receive this award.

The Frances Wood Wilson Foundation, established in 1954, is a private foundation dedicated to supporting charitable, civic, religious, and educational initiatives primarily in Georgia. Following the death of its founder and his wife, the foundation ensures its grants focus on child welfare and related activities. Grants are typically awarded to tax-exempt organizations and educational institutions, with a policy limiting grants to one per fiscal year.

The Call for Kindness Grant, offered by Riley's Way Foundation, empowers young leaders aged 13-23 to launch impactful social projects focused on kindness and community connection. This initiative has already benefited over 3,500 youth nationwide, promoting values of empathy and social change. The Park Foundation Grants for Animal Welfare focus on advancing the protection and conservation of wildlife, particularly through policy and advocacy efforts for threatened species. The foundation supports innovative, solution-oriented models that foster systemic change and compassion. Key areas include organizing for endangered wildlife, indigenous management practices, and supporting sanctuaries for great apes. Additionally, the foundation is committed to local efforts, including support for the Tompkins County SPCA, ensuring a compassionate society for all living beings.

The NRA Foundation: Georgia Grants support charitable purposes under IRS guidelines, focusing on promoting firearms safety, education, and research. Eligible organizations include IRS recognized entities and government bodies, while ineligible groups range from labor organizations to individuals. Grant requests must align with the Foundation's mission and be accompanied by necessary documentation. This funding aims to enhance community engagement in shooting sports and safety education, fostering a responsible approach to firearms.

Navigant Credit Union Charitable Foundation Grant

For over a century, Navigant Credit Union has been committed to making a meaningful difference in the community. In 2017, we established the Navigant Credit Union Charitable Foundation to further amplify our impact in five strategic areas:

• Education & Financial Literacy: Organizational and capital support for programs, supplies, building products, sports facilities and teams.
• Social Services: Financial support for programs and organizations for children, veterans, hunger and housing.
• Public Health, Safety & Well-Being: Support for programs addressing public safety, emergency care and eradication of disease.

Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools across the US to implement the PLTW Gateway program for the first time. With total funding of $9,100, the grant covers participation fees and training registration costs. Schools, including public, private, and charter, are encouraged to apply, particularly those serving low-income and minority majority populations. This initiative aims to enhance educational pathways in STEM for diverse student groups.

The Encova Foundation of West Virginia is dedicated to improving communities by supporting local causes that align with the values of its associates and policyholders. They focus on health, education, and wellness, emphasizing the importance of children's success. Organizations applying for grants must be U.S.-based and verified as charitable. Preference is given to initiatives impacting health and education, especially those involving Encova associates as active participants.

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

The Frankenmuth Insurance Foundation Charitable Grant supports qualified charities focused on community betterment and basic human needs. Founded in 2016, it aims to enhance lives through initiatives such as affordable housing, health programs, and the arts. Organizations eligible for funding must be tax-exempt and serve areas where Frankenmuth Insurance operates. Notably, the foundation excludes support for individuals, political groups, and projects typically financed by governments, ensuring its resources benefit the wider community.

The Kalliopeia Foundation Grant focuses on supporting projects that foster cultural and ecological renewal through a deep reverence for the Earth. By prioritizing US-based organizations that demonstrate strong community relationships and intergenerational leadership, the foundation seeks to empower marginalized voices and traditional practices. With an emphasis on land care and Indigenous leadership, Kalliopeia aims to cultivate a resilient future where diverse ways of knowing and being thrive harmoniously with nature.

The Siamak Yari Engineering Scholarship, funded by the North Georgia Community Foundation, offers a one-time award to full-time college juniors or seniors pursuing engineering degrees at accredited institutions in Georgia. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students from minority or immigrant backgrounds, fostering diversity in the engineering field while supporting the educational aspirations of local residents.

The Georgia Institute of Technology Section Scholarships offer financial support to members of the Georgia Tech Society of Women Engineers (SWE) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Scholarships are available in Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, determined by applicant numbers and corporate donations. The Georgia Military College (GMC) State Service Scholarship Loan offers a service cancelable loan program to strengthen Georgia's National Guard. Created by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, it provides outstanding students with a two-year scholarship loan, covering tuition, fees, and more. To qualify, students must serve in the National Guard for four years, ensuring they meet residency, academic, and moral character requirements. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate extracurricular involvement. This scholarship aims to empower students to achieve their educational goals while fostering a commitment to community service and philanthropy in the region.

The Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership Grant aims to enhance family engagement for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by funding parent mentors. This initiative fosters communication among families, educators, and communities to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Priority is given to local education agencies (LEAs) with schools identified for comprehensive support. Each qualifying district can receive $18,400 to bolster their engagement efforts, ultimately striving for greater success in educational settings.

The E.B. Henderson Award, presented by SHAPE America, honors minority members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to scholarship, mentorship, and advocacy for ethnic minorities within health and physical education. Established in 1885, SHAPE America serves over 200,000 professionals, promoting high-quality education standards. The award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to increasing the participation of underserved populations in the field. Limited to two awards annually, it highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in health education.

The California Casualty Music & Arts Grant supports K-12 public schools facing budget cuts that threaten their music and arts programs. Eligible applicants, who must be active employees of public K-12 schools and members of specified educator associations, can request grants of $250 for music or arts needs. This initiative aims to enhance creative education across the states, excluding AK, HI, MA, MI, NY, and WI. Applications received by July 15 will be notified by November 30.

The Ryan B. Joiner Memorial Scholarship, established by the North Georgia Community Foundation, supports rising juniors and seniors pursuing degrees in social work or mental health at select universities. This one-time award honors Ryan Joiner's legacy of compassion and advocacy for mental health. The Southern SARE: Producer Grant supports farmers in conducting their own research projects to develop sustainable agricultural practices. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation offers Adult Literacy Grants to support organizations providing essential literacy services to adults. Grants of up to $10,000 are available for programs in Adult Basic Education, GED preparation, and English language acquisition. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, and libraries located within 15 miles of a Dollar General store. The Charles B. Keesee Educational Fund Scholarship offers financial support for students pursuing eligible Master's and Doctoral degrees at various Baptist seminaries. Grants range from $3,100 to $8,800 annually, depending on the program and applicant status. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and residents of specific states, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and demonstrate intent to enter Baptist ministry. This fund has assisted thousands of students since its establishment in 1941.

The FDC Foundation, established in 2008, is a private non-profit dedicated to providing grants to 501(c)(3) public charities across three main areas: Health & Nutrition, Education, and Housing. The foundation supports initiatives that improve nutrition, assist diabetic individuals, enhance early childhood development, and promote housing opportunities for those in need. However, it does not fund for-profit entities or international organizations, nor does it provide grants for specific excluded purposes.

The Georgia Tennis Foundation High School Tennis Team Grant aims to support public and private high school tennis teams by providing up to $250 in financial assistance. This grant helps cover essential costs such as equipment, uniforms, and marketing, fostering player development and expanding the reach of tennis programs. The foundation is dedicated to nurturing youth tennis, encouraging students to embrace the sport both on and off the court.
