Don and Debbie Golden Scholarship

The Don and Debbie Golden Scholarship Fund was established by their daughters after Mr. & Mrs. Golden tragically passed in a car accident. Mrs. Golden was a counselor at Mount Vernon Elementary School and had 30 years’ experience in education. Mr. Golden taught & coached at North Forsyth High School and North Hall High School. He was a punter on the University of Georgia football team under Coach Dooley. In 2026, two scholarship awards of $2,000 each will be offered. 

The Workforce for Georgia Grant Program, initiated by the Georgia Foundation for Public Education and Georgia Power Foundation, offers up to $50,000 to enhance Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) in Georgia schools. This initiative aims to improve educational pathways aligned with local workforce needs. Eligible applicants include district-level staff and school administrators from high schools with CTAE programs. The funding supports program development, teacher training, and necessary resources to ensure students are job-ready upon graduation.

The Vulcan Materials Company Foundation Grant focuses on enhancing community quality of life through education, environmental stewardship, and employee involvement. Established in 1988, the Foundation supports public charities and government units, prioritizing proposals that improve public education and promote sustainable practices. Special consideration is given to initiatives that engage Vulcan employees and integrate multiple focus areas, ensuring a positive impact in the local communities where Vulcan operates.

The William T. Carlisle Memorial Scholarship, administered by the North Georgia Community Foundation, offers $10,000 in financial assistance to graduating seniors from Hall County, Georgia. This need-based scholarship provides $2,500 annually for up to four years, contingent upon maintaining eligibility. Applicants must enroll full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university and demonstrate financial need, ensuring support for local students pursuing higher education.

The AdvoCare Foundation, established in 1993, aims to promote health and wellness for children through its grant program. Focused on year-round initiatives, the foundation supports local communities where AdvoCare distributors operate. Grants typically last one year with an average funding of $25,000, although multi-year support may be available. The foundation prioritizes programs that foster positive health changes and encourages collaborative efforts with previous grantees.

The Atlantic Flyway Shorebird Initiative Grant supports crucial conservation efforts for shorebirds during their migration along the Atlantic Flyway. This initiative addresses threats such as human disturbance, habitat loss, and hunting in critical areas from the U.S. Atlantic coast to the Caribbean and South America. By promoting coordinated research and management, the initiative aims to ensure the survival of species like the American oystercatcher and red knot, fostering healthy migratory pathways.

Gail Ingram Scholarship

The Gail Ingram Scholarship was established at the North Georgia Community Foundation in 2010 by family, friends, and students of Gail Ingram to honor her 40 years in education. As a teacher of English, debate, speech, and journalism, Gail has made a lasting impact on countless students. She always encouraged students to know the world outside their community by reading critically and widely.

Recipients of the scholarship must be a graduating senior from any public high school in Banks, Hall, Habersham, Jackson, Lumpkin or White counties, and planning to attend a public school in the University System of Georgia or the Technical College System of Georgia as a full-time student.  The 2026 scholarship will be a one-time award of $1,000.

The ISTAART Grant Program for Conferences and Convenings (IGPCC) Grant, funded by the Alzheimer's Association, aims to support innovative initiatives that enhance research discussions among Professional Interest Areas (PIAs). This funding mechanism encourages collaboration and networking opportunities for ISTAART members, allowing for the organization of educational workshops and conferences. Grants of up to $20,000 are available, with a focus on new projects that haven't received funding in the last 24 months. Applications are reviewed year-round.

The Lattner Family Foundation, established in 2006 and located in Delray Beach, Florida, focuses on making impactful grants in areas such as arts, education, health, and social services. The Xander Corso Memorial Scholarship, established by the North Georgia Community Foundation, supports Hall County public high school seniors demonstrating financial need and academic merit. Jim and Dee Snow Optimist Scholarship

The Jim & Dee Snow Optimist Scholarship was established in 2013 by the Gainesville Evening Optimist Club. Jim and Dee Snow spent their entire working lives as educators, dedicating themselves to encouraging and helping young people. One $1,000 award is available in 2026. Special consideration will be given to students with an emphasis on service to the community.

The Toyota Industries Compressor Parts America (TICA) Community Scholarship, managed by the North Georgia Community Foundation, offers financial support to Jackson County high school seniors. Established in 2015, this renewable scholarship requires recipients to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 while enrolling full-time in an accredited U.S. educational institution. This initiative aims to foster educational opportunities and community engagement for local students, enhancing the region's overall quality of life.

The Artists, Writers and Scholars Program, funded by Georgia Sea Grant, supports creative individuals in Georgia to produce art and literature that highlights the state's coastal and marine environments. Grants of $1,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to enhance awareness and understanding of Georgia's rich history and culture. This initiative encourages applications from marginalized groups, fostering diversity and inclusion within the arts community.

School districts and other LEAs in Georgia can apply for funding to hire parent mentors who support family engagement for students with disabilities and IEPs. Focused on special needs education and parental involvement, the Georgia Department of Education prioritizes LEAs with schools identified as CSI, ATSI, TSI, or Tier IV, awarding US $18,400 per qualifying district.

Melissa Wroblewski Scholarship

The Melissa Wroblewski Memorial Scholarship was established in loving memory of Melissa Wroblewski, a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. This award is presented annually to a graduating senior from Kalamazoo Central or Loy Norrix High School who desires to pursue studies in the visual arts.

Wade & Clio Van Valkenburg Scholarship

The honorable Wade Van Valkenburg was a Circuit Court judge in Kalamazoo for six years. He was concerned about the youth in this community, especially those who have had to overcome circumstances or obstacles that may otherwise hinder them from seeking training or higher education. This scholarship fund was established in 2004 through the Wade Van Valkenburg Trust to provide educational scholarships for Kalamazoo County students facing financial hardship or challenges in their education due to past legal issues or accusations. Additional application materials are required for this scholarship.

Applicants must have at least two semesters of study remaining and meet specific eligibility criteria, including holding a current RN license and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.6. Jerry A. & M. Christine Walker Scholarship

The Jerry A. and M. Christine Walker Scholarship was established in 2019 by Christine Walker. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance for Kalamazoo County residents or persons who have graduated from a school within Kalamazoo County to help them reach their goals of increased financial independence through employment. Additional application materials are required for this scholarship.
