The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.

Marietta Kiwanis Foundation, Inc. Skilled Trades Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2024 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and created to encourage applicants entering occupations in the skilled trades. 

The scholarship may cover tuition or recognized associated educational needs, with funds still dispensed through the program or school.

Colleen Callahan Professional Development Award

Members are invited to apply for the Professional Development Grant offered by Southeastern Region of the Costume Society of America. Awards will be made at a minimum of $250 with the total award not to exceed $1000. Your project may be on any aspect of costume, any technical skill, or any administrative expertise which will further the mission and purposes of the Costume Society of America. The grant money may be applied to research, a course, workshop fees, or travel.

CSX Charitable Investments provide essential in-kind donations to nonprofit organizations focused on supporting military members and community first responders. Through intermodal transportation services, CSX offers equipment and rail services to help reduce transportation costs for eligible organizations. The program also includes occasional donations of railroad materials and equipment based on availability. CSX prioritizes support for organizations operating within its service areas, promoting community betterment and development.

Jim Liles Student Award

 The Jim Liles Student Award is intended to assist students who want to make presentations at a CSA Southeastern Region symposium. These presentations may be on any costume-related topic. The work should be well researched and may or may not be thesis, dissertation, course research project, independent study research, or senior project related. Up to TWO students whose papers are accepted will receive up to $1,000 each to cover travel and other related expenses. The Registration fee will be waived for all student presenters, regardless of whether they receive this award.

The Innovative Education Fund Grant Program, established by the Georgia Foundation for Public Education, offers funding for public schools and 501(c)(3) nonprofits to implement innovative solutions that improve educational outcomes for Georgia's K-12 students. This initiative aims to support transformative and inclusive programs over an 18-month period, helping organizations tackle root causes of educational challenges. Jack's Family Fund Grant

The Jack's Family Fund is a non-profit charitable organization established to provide emergency financial assistance to members of the communities that Jack’s Family Restaurants (JFR) serve. Fund grants are made to assist those who have temporarily found themselves in need, but under normal circumstances are self-sustaining.

Our grants assist with:

• Immediate, short- term needs of individuals who may be victims of disasters or other emergency hardship situations including floods, fires, riots, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and similar large-scale events, or
• Emergency hardship caused by illness, death, accident, violent crime or other types of personal injury.
• Community 501(c)(3) organizations working to respond to these types of needs on a broad scale.

Types of expenses grants may be awarded for include (but are not limited to):

• funeral expenses
• past due utilities (electric, water, natural gas)
• past due rent/mortgage
• emergency housing

Grants from the Fund are not intended to replace personal or homeowners insurance, federal disaster relief or other types of aid, but rather to assist on an immediate and short-term basis when other sources of assistance are not available.

The BRACE Grant Program, administered by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, aims to combat litter, blight, and illegal dumping while promoting community code enforcement. It offers funding to eligible local governments in Georgia to undertake projects that enhance environmental cleanliness and community pride. Priority is given to communities with populations under 2,500. This initiative not only supports environmental sustainability but also encourages economic growth by improving public spaces.

Preference is given to initiatives impacting health and education, especially those involving Encova associates as active participants.

The Elevance Health Foundation's Behavioral Health Grant aims to address significant challenges in mental health and substance use disorders. With a commitment of up to $90 million over three years, the Foundation seeks partnerships with nonprofits to enhance treatment access, promote prevention strategies, and alleviate loneliness among affected individuals. This initiative emphasizes innovative solutions and measurable outcomes, targeting both national and local programs, particularly in states with pressing health disparities.

Who We Are

Founded in 1996, the Community Foundation of South Georgia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to making South Georgia a better place to live through effective philanthropy. We help individuals, families, nonprofit organizations and businesses establish and manage charitable funds that carry out their philanthropic interests. Serving a geographic area of 35 counties in South Georgia, we facilitate our donors’ charitable plans and goals by creating custom designed funds that meet their specific interests and ensure solid financial management and administration for each fund. 

Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association Scholarship

For dental hygiene students and Registered Dental Hygienists who are enrolled in an accredited Dental Hygiene School in Georgia, reside in the state of Georgia and intend to practice in Georgia for two years following graduation. Applicants must have completed at least one quarter or semester of study in the dental hygiene curriculum and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.  

The Community Facilities Grant Program in Georgia provides essential funding for the development of community facilities in rural areas, benefiting populations of 20,000 or fewer. This program supports a variety of projects, including healthcare, public safety, and educational services, ensuring improved access to vital services for underserved communities. Eligible applicants include public bodies and non-profits. With a focus on low-income areas, the program allocates funding based on community needs, promoting sustainable development and enhancing local quality of life.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program for FY25 aims to enhance road safety through competitive funding for planning and demonstration initiatives. This includes the creation and improvement of safety action plans to prevent fatalities and serious injuries across all roadway users. Eligible applicants must have or be developing an SS4A-funded action plan. The program supports comprehensive strategies that address various roadway safety challenges.

You are steps away from creating an opportunity to receive full or partial funding of your charitable organization. So that you use your time wisely, we offer the following advice for your efforts:

• As a family foundation, we are prohibited from funding individuals or any entity that is not an IRS-recognized Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity or a Section 509(a)(1), (2), or (3) support organization. Thus, while we cannot award a scholarship to an individual, we can fund a 501(c)(3) charity that provides such scholarships.

• If you qualify as a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization or a support organization pursuant to Section 509(a)(1-3), we will need the IRS Determination Letter confirming as much, as well as a statement signed by your organization’s President or Chief Executive Officer verifying that your organization’s purposes, structure, and operations have not changed substantially since the date of the IRS’s Determination Letter.

• If you are a “supporting organization” under IRS Code section 509(a)(1-3), please provide a list of the public charities that you support. Please also advise whether you are a Type I, Type II, or Type III supporting organization. If you are a Type III supporting organization, please advise whether you are “functionally integrated” with your supported public charity and provide an explanation of that relationship.

The Vineyard family has historically provided funding for family-related charities such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, pediatric hospitals, autism-related organizations, and youth recreational leagues. The Foundation looks forward to continuing this support and extending itself to educational, research, and cultural experiences that focus on the needs of children and their parents.

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program- Implementation Grants aims to enhance road safety through competitive funding for projects addressing roadway safety issues. These grants support various initiatives, including planning and infrastructure improvements, to reduce fatalities and injuries among all road users. Eligible applicants must have a comprehensive safety action plan, ensuring that funded projects align with established safety strategies and are completed within five years of the grant agreement.

The MagMutual Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to enhancing healthcare access and diversity. It funds initiatives like pro-bono medical care for underserved populations, scholarships for minority medical students, and support for healthcare workers facing challenges. The foundation aims to maximize its positive influence in communities by advocating for policyholders and promoting meaningful changes in medical practices. Eligible applicants must have a policyholder's recommendation and be a registered non-profit.

21 st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program

Pre-Screened External OrganizationsIn accordance with Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is required to provide a list of prescreened external organizations, as described under section 4203(a)(11). Therefore, GaDOE is providing an opportunity for interested non-profit organizations in Georgia to submit an external organization profile. By collecting, screening, and publishing a list of external non-profit organizations that have expressed interest, the potential for partnerships with current and future 21st CCLC programs is more easily realized. 

​If your organization meets the record of operation and is presently in good standing with the State of Georgia, you may submit an external organization profile to GaDOE for review. 

The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

Scholars selected to participate in the year-long program, are matched with a research project submitted by prospective graduate/postdoc mentors. Their research begins in the spring semester (January 2026) while taking regular coursework. During this time, they acquire the skills and training necessary to develop their research projects and chart their course for the upcoming year. In the summer semester, scholars conduct their research full-time (40 hours/week) immersing and integrating into the research group, and attending group meetings and other lab activities. When classes resume in the final fall semester, scholars continue their research to develop results to present at an end-of-year poster session and celebration in October/November.

Priority consideration will be given to Scholar applicants with a stated interest in the following research areas:

The Georgia Health Foundation Grant, established in 1985, supports nonprofits in Georgia addressing local health issues while encouraging collaboration. Grants are awarded to organizations eligible under IRS guidelines, focusing on charitable, scientific, or educational purposes. Applicants are urged to propose sustainable programs with regional or national health impacts. Note that the application deadline is June 1, with initial reviews in July. The foundation typically does not fund capital projects or campaigns.

The GTF Afterschool Program Grant offers schools and organizations a chance to promote tennis among children beyond standard physical education. This grant, funded by the Georgia Tennis Foundation, supports initiatives at schools or local parks, enhancing access to tennis. Eligible applicants include schools or tennis-affiliated organizations, with a focus on providing qualified coaching. Grants of up to $750 are available to cover equipment, marketing, and facility fees, ensuring programs last a minimum of six weeks.

The Georgia Tennis Foundation High School Tennis Team Grant aims to support public and private high school tennis teams by providing up to $250 in financial assistance. This grant helps cover essential costs such as equipment, uniforms, and marketing, fostering player development and expanding the reach of tennis programs. The foundation is dedicated to nurturing youth tennis, encouraging students to embrace the sport both on and off the court.
