Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater, the Austin Film Society (AFS) creates life-changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around great film. AFS operates Austin Studios, a 20-acre production facility, to attract and grow the creative media ecosystem. As it's mission, the Austin Film Society empowers the community to make, watch, and love film and creative media.

AFS Grant

Since its inception in 1996, the AFS Grant has awarded more than $2.8 million in cash grants and more than $340,000 in-kind goods and services to 550+ Texas filmmakers to date, creating life-changing opportunities for artists, many from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the film industry and working outside large industry centers. In addition to grants for development, production, and post-production, we provide cash stipends to Texas filmmakers traveling to prestigious film festivals through its AFS Travel Grant program.

AFS Travel Grant

AFS Travel Grant, one of the AFS Grants, is awarded to Texas-based filmmakers to assist with the costs of participation in competitive film festivals around the world. At AFS, we understand that independent filmmakers often have minimal access to financial support during this key moment to share work with future stakeholders and develop relationships in the industry.

The goal of the travel grant is to help filmmakers towards career leaps by supporting their travel to festivals and events that could make a significant impact on their film’s reach and their career in general. After spending most of their funds on completing the film, even filmmakers who are selected for major festivals have little to no funds remaining for festival travel. The AFS Travel Grant aims to assist Texas filmmakers during this critical moment.

Texas-based filmmakers with proof of travel and an official acceptance letter to a festival on the AFS Travel Grant list are eligible to receive $500 for festivals in the US, Canada, and Mexico and/or $1000 for festivals outside of North America. Filmmakers can receive TWO travel grants during the life of their film not to exceed $1,500.  These grants are intended to help offset costs for filmmakers traveling outside the state of Texas. AFS Travel Grant applications are open year-round.

H-E-B Tournament of Champions

The H-E-B Tournament of Champions was established in 1986 when DeckerFood Company asked H-E-B Grocery Co. to invite a few of their market vendors to play in a golf tournament and donate the proceeds to Special OlympicsTexas. The President of Decker Foods was the Chairman of the Board for Special Olympics Texas at that time. The event raised $38,500 and the proceeds made it possible to hire a Special OlympicsTexas Games Coordinator for Area 20 which included San Antonio. Chuck Hendryx(H-E-B V.P.) and Kathy Ashwin (Admin Asst.) organized the event in six weeks and concluded, if they had a year to plan the event, more money would be raised. The following year the event raised $78,000 and the rest is history!

Over the past 37 years, this event has raised over $145 million dollars benefiting Special OlympicsTexas and other worthwhile organizations that focus on children and educational initiatives throughout the State of Texas.

In 2003, the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust was established and the event became a 501(c)3 tax exempt private foundation under the Internal Revenue codes.

PNC Foundation

Strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in communities where we live and work.

Vision & Mission

For decades, we have provided resources to seed ideas, foster development initiatives and encourage leadership in nonprofit organizations where imagination and determination are at work enhancing people's lives everyday.

The PNC Foundation's priority is to form partnerships with community-based nonprofit organizations in order to enhance educational opportunities, with an emphasis on early childhood education, and to promote the growth of communities through economic development initiatives.

Foundation Grant

The PNC Foundation supports a variety of nonprofit organizations with a special emphasis on those that work to achieve sustainability and touch a diverse population, in particular, those that support early childhood education and/or economic development.

Education

The PNC Foundation supports educational programs for children and youth, particularly early childhood education initiatives that meet the criteria established through PNC Grow Up Great. Specifically, PNC Grow Up Great grants must:

• Support early education initiatives that benefit children from birth to age five; and
• Serve a majority of children (>50%) from low- to moderate-income families; and
• Adhere to all other standard PNC Foundation guidelines, as outlined on the PNC Foundation website, applicant eligibility quiz, as well as the Foundation policies and procedures; and
• Include one or a combination of the following:
  • direct services/programs for children in their classroom or community;
  • professional development/workforce development for early childhood educators;
  • family and/or community engagement in children’s early learning
• Additional considerations:
  • The grant focus should include math, science, reading, vocabulary development, the arts, financial education, or social/emotional development.
  • The grant recipient, or collaborative partner, should have early childhood education as an area of focus. If the organization’s focus is beyond birth to age five, the specific grant must be earmarked for birth to age five.
  • Incorporate opportunities for PNC volunteers in classroom or non-classroom-based activities.

Economic Development

Economic development organizations, including those which enhance the quality of life through neighborhood revitalization, cultural enrichment and human services are given support. Priority is given to community development initiatives that strategically promote the growth of low-and moderate-income communities and/or provide services to these communities.

  • The PNC Foundation understands the critical need for affordable housing for low-and moderate-income individuals.
  • We are committed to providing support to nonprofit organizations that:
    • give counseling and services to help these individuals maintain their housing stock;
    • offer transitional housing units and programs; and/or
    • offer credit counseling assistance to individuals, helping them to prepare for homeownership.
• Community Development
  • Because small businesses are often critical components of community growth and help foster business development, the PNC Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that
    • offer technical assistance to, or loan programs for, small businesses located in low-and moderate-income areas or
    • support small businesses that employ low-and moderate-income individuals.
• Community Services
  • Support is given to social services organizations that benefit the health, education, quality of life or provide essential services for low-and moderate-income individuals and families.
  • The PNC Foundation supports job training programs and organizations that provide essential services for their families.
• Arts & Culture
  • Support is given for cultural enrichment programs benefitting the community.
• Revitalization & Stabilization of Low-and Moderate-Income Areas

Love, Tito's

The Love, Tito’s evolution started in Austin, Texas.

Tito was new to the vodka business, still struggling to make ends meet while rewriting the Texas codebook to building the first legal distillery in the state of Texas. One day he got a phone call from a local nonprofit asking if he would donate a couple cases of vodka for a fundraising event. Tito agreed, and showed up with several cases and the thought that this would be a great opportunity for folks to taste his new vodka. “If you like it, tell 20 of your closest friends,” he said… and they did. They liked the vodka and they told their friends - not just about the vodka, but also about how Tito would donate it to support charity events, just like he’d done for them. The phone started to ring more often, and Tito’s fell into the “charity event” business.

As the company grew, Tito empowered each and every member of the team, regardless of their role, to support the causes they were passionate about in their local communities. As Tito’s Handmade Vodka continued to gain momentum across the country, involvement in philanthropy grew in tandem. The more people who joined the Tito’s family, the more hearts and hands were out in the world spreading love and goodness, with Tito’s behind them all the way.

Every time a member of the Tito’s Team reached out to extend a hand, to make a difference, to say “Thank you for inviting us to help the cause,” they signed off with “Love, Tito’s.” This salutation became a mantra, which turned into a movement. Love, Tito’s is now a force, a group of individuals giving back to causes, efforts and organizations that move them. Through Love, Tito’s, the team has supported thousands of causes – lending a hand to rebuild communities after devastation, spreading joy to those who need a little more, and protecting the environment we all share.

The goal of Love, Tito’s is simple: to turn spirits into love and goodness. Make the world a better place—in whatever way moves you; find your passion, and get involved. Topfer Family Foundation Grant

The Topfer Family Foundation is committed to helping people connect to the tools and resources needed to build self-sufficient and fulfilling lives.

Program Areas

The mission of the Topfer Family Foundation (TFF) is to fund programs and organizations that connect people to the tools and resources they need to build self-sufficient and fulfilling lives. Programs eligible for TFF funding will adhere to the guidelines listed below and address one or more of the following program areas:

Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment 

Self-sufficiency for children and families begins in a safe, healthy home. TFF supports programs that provide resources, training and treatment for families and children of abuse. Grants are awarded to programs that promote positive parenting, strengthen families, and provide early intervention. Additionally, TFF funds therapeutic support services for victims of abuse to enhance their quality of life and enable them to reach their full potential.

Youth Enrichment 

TFF is committed to helping at-risk youth prepare for self-sufficient, fulfilling lives. Therefore, the foundation funds initiatives that help youth develop practical life skills, promote education, build self-confidence, and provide positive development and enrichment opportunities.

Job Training and Support Services

Self-sufficiency is unlikely without the skills and knowledge to earn a livable wage. Therefore, the foundation supports job training programs and support services that enable people to increase their earning potential and enhance their quality of life through sustainable and meaningful employment. Initiatives eligible for TFF funding include vocational training, remedial education and life skills training. Successful programs will address the multiple needs of the individual to ensure that employment is secured and sustained.

Children's Health

For parents who have faced the expensive and overwhelming task of caring for an ill child, self-sufficiency can be a distant dream. TFF supports organizations that provide access to critical healthcare for low-income children and those with chronic and terminal illnesses. Grants are awarded to programs that address the physical and emotional needs of sick children and their families through compassionate care, medical treatment and intervention services.

Aging in Place

Aging does not lead to an inevitable loss of independence. However, limited access to safe, affordable housing can be a barrier. TFF partners with local organizations that provide housing options for the elderly while ensuring access to the support services needed to maintain their health and independence. Eligible programs include those that offer home modification, home repair, food and nutrition services, and affordable housing alternatives.

Application Process

The Topfer Family Foundation accepts applications year-round and reviews them on a quarterly basis. Please see below for information about how to apply. Due to the volume of requests received each year, we cannot accept requests in the form of letters, proposals or presentations.

Guidelines for Capacity Building Grants

The Webber Family Foundation funds capacity building projects that:

• Are aligned with the Foundation’s mission and one of the four focus areas.
• Build the organization’s capacity to provide expanded, higher quality, and/or more sustainable services.
• Benefit predominantly low-income youth. This means at least 50% of the population served by the organization comes from families earning less than the median US family income, adjusted for family size.
• Benefit predominantly high-achieving youth. This means the focus of the organization or program is to help students who already exceed grade-level expectations develop their full potential. Accordingly, at least 2/3 of the population served exceeds grade-level expectations and/or exhibits superior aptitude.
• Operate in Austin TX.

Currently the Webber Family Foundation is not accepting unsolicited grant proposals from organizations located in and around Washington DC.

Grant Info

The Webber Family Foundation offers grants to organizations that are aligned with its mission of helping lower-income youth perform at the highest levels of achievement in academics and the arts. Currently there are three areas of focus:

• School readiness/early literacy
• Out-of-school time programs for grades 6-12
• Charter schools
• College readiness, access & persistence

Each is discussed below in more detail. The report: Achievement Trap: How America is Failing Millions of High-Achieving Students from Lower-Income Families published by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation in September 2007 may be useful in better understanding the Foundation’s areas of focus.

School readiness/early literacy for age 3 - grade 3

The objective of this initiative is to increase the number of lower-income students who enter Kindergarten as high-achievers (at or above grade-level norms) and achieve reading proficiency by third grade.

Grants will fund quality preschool programs that provide structured, school- or center-based education for children ages 3-5, with a focus on early literacy and parent engagement. Grants will also fund early literacy programs – for students in Kinder to 3rd grades – working to decrease the post-PreK fadeout that can occur once children enter the public school system.

Out-of-school time enrichment for grades 4-12

The objectives of this initiative are to increase the number of lower-income students who:

• Develop academic and artistic skill during out-of-school time enrichment.
  • We define enrichment as activities that extend learning beyond the content/expectations of the school curriculum.
• Enrichment could be academic (robotics clubs, book clubs, summer space camp, etc.) or in the arts (music lessons, screenwriting workshop, dance program, etc.).
  • Not included are remedial programs to help struggling students achieve grade-level expectations.

Grants will fund long-term, intensive programs that serve lower-income students in grades 4-12 who are exceeding grade-level norms. Specific interests include:

• Enrichment programs that help students fulfill their potential through academics and/or the arts. This initiative does not include development of leadership and/or social skills, mentoring (except in the context of academics or the arts), nor remedial programs to help struggling students achieve grade-level expectations. In the arts, grants will fund programs that allow students to study music, dance, visual arts, and/or theater in depth. Artistic skill development – not exposure – is the goal.

The objective of this initiative is to expand the capacity of outstanding charter schools that serve predominantly lower-income students. Grants will fund schools serving grades 4-12 that produce exceptionally well-prepared graduates.

Charter Schools for grades PreK - 12

The objective of this initiative is to expand the capacity of high performing charter schools that serve predominantly lower-income students.

Grants will fund schools serving grades PreK-12 that produce well-prepared graduates.

College Readiness, Access & Persistence for grades 6-12+

The objective of this initiative is to increase the number of exceptionally well-prepared graduates who enroll in and succeed in college.

Grants will fund college preparation and access programs serving middle and high school students. Grants will also support college persistence initiatives for organizations working in the 6-12 space.

Grant Sizes

Capacity Building Grants are one-year grants that allow an organization to improve its systems and/or operations in order to work better and more efficiently. Capacity building grants can benefit both direct-service organizations as well as backbone organizations leading systemic work in one or more of the Foundation’s current focus areas. Grant request amounts range up to $25,000 per year.

Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Foundation collaborate with a wide range of nonprofit organizations that align with our strategic funding priorities. We prioritize our funding to activities and programs that have a broad reach and support the needs of underserved communities. We aspire to have a positive impact on the communities we serve by using our financial and volunteer resources and business expertise in collaboration with community organizations to help solve complex societal problems.

We may also support other local needs in eligible communities such as disaster relief, arts and culture, civic engagement, education, human and social services, and workforce development. However, opportunities are limited as our intent is to direct the majority of our giving within our major focus areas.

Background

In February 2025, the City of Austin established Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment (AACME) to better support the City’s ongoing work with Austin’s creative community, making the city a stronger place for arts, culture, and music. AACME goals include:

• Meaningful direct support for artists and cultural groups
• Local economy growth and development to attract visitors and build stronger communities
• Enduring partnerships between artists, cultural groups, and businesses
• Open and accessible spaces that connect residents and tourists through arts and culture to strengthen community identity and promote collective storytelling
• Further build Austin’s identity as a global city for creativity The AACME Funding Program Guidelines outline everything you need to know about eligibility, funding priorities, allowable expenses, and application review.

Heritage Preservation Grant

The Heritage Preservation Grant promotes tourism through historic preservation projects and activities rooted in local history and heritage.

Grant funds support capital projects or heritage events that expand access to historic places and heritage resources and market the site's history to engage new audiences and tourists. All capital projects require a historic designation.

Program goals include to increase Austin's heritage tourism; preserve and open access to historic spaces; bring local history to life through interpretation, activations, and storytelling; and support jobs in the creative economy.

Capital Improvement Projects

Contractual preservation agreements to restore, preserve, and promote tourism-serving historic designated sites and structures. The project site must have a historic designation or be eligible for historic designation (designation must be completed within the contract term). The program supports exterior restoration projects. At least one complete bid package from a contractor, (preservation) architect, and subcontractor is required for the preservation project. Detailed and thorough project bids must indicate how the proposed work meets the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and/or Local Historic Building Standards.

All capital project proposals are required to be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Office, Architectural Review Committee (ARC), and/or the Historic Landmark Commission (HLC). ARC project feedback must be incorporated into the proposal. To be placed on an upcoming agenda, please contact the Historic Preservation Office.

Sites must be historically designated or previously approved by the City Council as a heritage district or corridor.

We’re here to help them through the three platforms of our Meeting Basic Needs focus area.

Consideration is given to applications addressing the following:

• Food banks, food shelves and food pantries, daily meal programs or meal services for the homebound

We want livable places for all, where neighbors look out for one another, cultural events are well-attended and people pull together in times of crisis and joy. Volunteer Driven Causes: Ameriprise employees and financial advisors are outstanding volunteers who serve in teams and also as individuals bringing personal skill-sets to nonprofits. Volunteering is part of the culture at Ameriprise and we are proud to support communities through contributions of both service and financial resources. 

Funding for Volunteer-Driven Causes is determined by current Ameriprise volunteerism. In general, funding is in proportion to the size of the Ameriprise volunteer team supporting a nonprofit. A team may include employees, financial advisors and/or staff or a combination of any Ameriprise volunteers.

Mission

Our mission is to meet basic human needs while building individual and social resiliency. 

Established in 1987, the Bernard & Audre Rapoport Foundation has dedicated over $70 million in grants to improve the social fabric of life.  

The Foundation seeks innovative solutions to intractable and persistent problems and strives to cultivate emerging talents and promising models. 

The entire Rapoport family is actively involved in the Foundation’s operations, which has touched many lives in the areas of education, arts and culture, health, community building & social services, and democracy & civic participation.

This commitment is rooted in generations past and continues to mold our future.

Areas of Funding Priorities

The Foundation prefers to concentrate on five primary areas including: Arts & Culture, Community Building & Social Service, Democracy & Civic Participation, Education, and Health.

Arts and Culture

The Foundation supports artistic and cultural programs that encourage the participation of children and disadvantaged members of the community thereby enriching their lives. Education and cultivation of new and young patrons is encouraged.

Education

The Foundation is interested in the broad area of education but with a special concern for early learning up to and through the elementary years. Other areas of interest include adult education and training initiatives, college and career readiness, and programs that enhance the capabilities of teachers and other professionals in public schools.  

Health

The Foundation seeks to improve the quality and delivery of healthcare services to all citizens, especially to women, children, and those who do not have access to conventional medical resources. Community-based outreach initiatives are also of interest to the Foundation.

Community Building and Social Services

The Foundation seeks to build communities that improve the quality of life for all citizens and foster the growth and development of children. The Foundation encourages programs that build grassroots neighborhood networks, provide job training and job opportunities for the unemployed and under-employed, or provide a comprehensive safety net of social services for the least-advantaged citizens.  

Democracy and Civic Participation

The Foundation supports efforts both to make government more responsive and to encourage citizens to take an active interest and role in political life. The Foundation promotes intergovernmental cooperation as well as initiatives that broaden citizen awareness of public policy issues and alternatives, build skills necessary for political leadership, and provide opportunities for community service.  

Where We Fund

By policy, one-third of annual grant funds are required to be distributed for projects/programs located in Waco, Texas. (The bulk of awards in Waco tend to fall within the areas of Education, Health, Community Building & Social Services, and Arts & Culture.)

By policy, one-third of annual grant funds are considered discretionary and may be distributed in support of projects/programs throughout Texas and the United States as desired. In recent years, a significant portion of the Foundation’s discretionary grant budget has been largely focused on ad-hoc special interest areas as determined by our trustees. Once the Foundation’s 2025 ad-hoc working group topic has been announced, you will find the relevant information on this website. (The bulk of awards in TX/US tend to fall largely within Democracy & Civic Participation and to a lesser extent, Community Building.)

It is also worth noting that the Foundation does not typically consider funding direct service programs outside of the Waco/McLennan County area or programs benefitting a small geographic area or a narrow audience (outside of Waco/McLennan County). Finally, the remaining one-third of annual grant funds are obligated to the University of Texas at Austin Rapoport Service Scholarship program, the Jerusalem Foundation, and the Jewish Federations of North America.

Mission

Adlai McMillan "A.M." or "Aggie" Pate Jr. and his wife, Joyce Pate Capper, were prominent philanthropists and active in historical preservation and civic endeavors in Fort Worth and the State of Texas. Mr. Pate actively supported higher education and served as a trustee at Austin College and Texas Christian University. Pate also served on the board of YMCA, was active in Girls' Service League, the Fort Worth Zoological Foundation, and the Fort Worth Children's Museum - now the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. He served as President and Chairman of the Board of Texas Refinery Co., a company founded by his father, until his death.

The foundation supports charitable organizations within the state of Texas that are organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, artistic, educational purposes, or for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

Lola Wright Foundation Grant

Established by Miss Johnie Elizabeth Wright in 1954, the Lola Wright Foundation supports children and youth, public health and human services, education and community development, and arts and culture.

The Foundation’s grant making activities are limited to organizations operating primarily within a 50-mile radius of Austin, Texas.

Forever Austin Fund

About this grant opportunity

The Forever Austin Fund is a permanent community resource that enables ACF to invest in Austin’s most pressing needs and greatest opportunities. The Forever Austin Fund supports the giving of a collection of field-of-interest funds, unrestricted funds, and donor advised funds at the Foundation. The ACF team manages grantmaking from these funds, thoughtfully balancing the intent of each fund with the evolving needs of Central Texas.

Funding areas

Every year, ACF will make Forever Austin Fund grants to address both urgent and systemic needs in Central Texas. The issues prioritized in Forever Austin Fund grantmaking will shift over time to reflect the evolving needs of our region and the interests of our legacy donors. In 2025, the grants will focus on the following areas:

Economic Mobility: Ensuring paths to economic mobility for Central Texans is a critical strategy in ACF’s focus on closing the opportunity gap. By partnering with and funding organizations that tackle immediate and systemic economic challenges, we aim to eliminate wealth disparities and create lasting change. Grants in this category will focus on four key areas:

Health and Humanities: The future of our region is inextricably linked to the health of our people and the growth of our creative community. Grants in this category will focus on:

Funding amounts

Through the Forever Austin Fund grant cycle, we anticipate awarding 50-75 grants between $5,000 – $50,000 each. Award amounts will be determined by application scores, donor priorities, and individual endowment budgets. Grants may be approved for full or partial funding of the requested amount, which cannot exceed 30% of the organization’s budget.

Additional information per funding area:

• Economic Mobility: 20-30 grants, up to $1,250,000
• Health and Humanities: 15-20 grants up to $550,000
• Nurturing Our Region: 10-15 grants up to $200,000

She created the Joni Elaine Templeton Foundation to be operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or education purposes or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.

Mission

Dr. William Evans Dean III (Bill) attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Nevada. He served his country in Vietnam as part of the U.S. Air Force and later graduated with honors from dental school. In addition to all these accomplishments, he was a registered Texas longhorn rancher, recreational pilot and avid animal lover. His passion for helping others continues in perpetuity through the establishment of the William E. Dean III Charitable Foundation, which he created in 2009.

Hispanic Impact Fund

Austin Community Foundation believes that when we support the economic mobility and advancement of Hispanic Central Texans, everyone benefits. The Hispanic Impact Fund – a signature program at Austin Community Foundation – works to bridge the racial wealth divide and advance economic opportunity for Latino families in Central Texas.

Early Childhood Education

• The Fund will invest in organizations that provide access to affordable, high-quality Pre-K and early childhood education starting at age 3, building the pipeline from cradle to career for Latino families.

Health & Wellness

• The Fund will invest in organizations that provide preventative, culturally competent health education and access to quality mental and physical health services.​

Job Skills & Entrepreneurship

• The Fund will invest in organizations that assist Latino entrepreneurs in gaining the knowledge and skills needed to expand their businesses.

Leadership Development

• The Fund will invest in organizations advancing Latino leadership and creating pipelines of youth, emerging, and established Latino talent, which are critical to building a thriving Central Texas.

Background

While many community foundations across the country were created by several donors, Austin Community Foundation was created through the generosity of one woman. After her husband’s death in 1963, Fannie Gray Leo met with bank trustee George K. Meriwether, seeking his advice about how to provide for her family and favorite charities including the cancer center where Jack received care, as well as homes for orphans and for the elderly. Upon her death in 1975 it was discovered that Fannie Gray Leo had earmarked 5% of her estate, or $30,000, to create Austin Community Foundation (ACF). In 1977, two years later, Austin Community Foundation was established.

We work together with individuals, families, businesses, nonprofits, and civic leaders to address the greatest needs and opportunities in Central Texas. We primarily serve Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties.

Austin Community Foundation invests in the economic mobility of Central Texans so our region can be a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We carry out this work through two signature programs, the Hispanic Impact Fund and the Women’s Fund —collective-giving networks led by community members who share responsibility for the vision, fundraising, and grantmaking.

The Jordan Award

Nonprofit organizations often count on volunteers to help efficiently deliver on their mission. The Jordan Award recognizes a Central Texas nonprofit that effectively leverages the time and talents of volunteers to effect positive change in our community.

About Dr. Wylie Jordan

Dr. Wylie Jordan became part of the Foundation’s community of givers when it was founded in 1977. In fact, he was a board member for Recording for the Blind—one of the first organizations to receive a grant from ACF. Over the years, he became increasingly impressed with volunteers on the boards at Austin Community Foundation and other nonprofits in the community, and began to think about how volunteerism should be recognized.

In honor of Dr. Wylie Jordan’s legacy and passing, ACF will close out the Jordan Award in 2025 by awarding two grants, each $11,500 in value, focusing on exceptional volunteer programs.

Gupta Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA. Our mission is to support organizations that provide focused intervention in the lives of people who have been disadvantaged in some way to help them become self-reliant. We take a very broad view of “disadvantage” to include anything that holds a person back from realizing their potential, such as poverty, physical or mental disability, social alienation, etc. The foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies such as natural disasters.

The foundation evaluates and awards annual and multi-year grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000 (USD). Our focus is on funding smaller organizations all around the world that are led by individuals with a deep personal commitment to their missions. 

Our selection criteria include:

• Mission alignment
• The organization is run by the founder or, if not, by a successor who embodies the original inspiration, passion and commitment of the founder.

Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater, the Austin Film Society (AFS) creates life-changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around great film. AFS supports filmmakers towards career leaps, encouraging exceptional artistic projects with grants and support services. AFS operates Austin Studios, a 20-acre production facility, to attract and grow the creative media ecosystem. Austin Public, a space for our city’s diverse mediamakers to train and collaborate, provides many points of access to filmmaking and film careers. The AFS Cinema is an ambitiously programmed repertory and first run arthouse with broad community engagement. By hosting premieres, local and international industry events, and the Texas Film Awards, AFS shines the national spotlight on Texas filmmakers while connecting Austin and Texas to the wider film community. AFS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

As it's mission, the Austin Film Society empowers the community to make, watch, and love film and creative media.

AFS Grant

Since its inception in 1996, the AFS Grant has awarded more than $2.8 million in cash grants and more than $340,000 in-kind goods and services to 550+ Texas filmmakers to date, creating life-changing opportunities for artists, many from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the film industry and working outside large industry centers. In addition to grants for development, production, and post-production, we provide cash stipends to Texas filmmakers traveling to prestigious film festivals.

Generally, the AFS Grant awards funds annually to Texas-based filmmakers working in any style or genre. Filmmakers who live in the state of Texas are encouraged to apply for funds for any phase of production, and a development grant is also available for mid-career artists. The AFS Grant aims to ensure that promising Texas artists have access to funding opportunities right here in their home state.

The AFS Grant for Short Films

For the AFS Grant for Short Films (one of the AFS Grants), projects may apply for up to $10,000 cash for production or post-production of short films under 40 minutes in length. Total cash support from the AFS Grant fund will not exceed $10,000. The grant has been a critical source of structural support for our region’s filmmakers, and there are many success stories of Texas filmmakers who used the AFS Grant to develop shorts that served as a springboard to feature projects. The AFS Grant is funded through donations to Austin Film Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Girls Giving Grants

Girls Giving Grants, the youth enterprise of Impact Austin, is changing the face of giving. We are a grantmaking cooperative, funded and operated by young women in grades 8 - 12. Our mission is to know and to serve our community. We want our funds to make a visible difference in our community. We award grants to charitable programs or projects that benefit youth within Travis, Hays, Bastrop and/or Williamson counties. Through their programs, the organizations must strengthen, improve, enhance, and positively impact the lives of children and youth in the greater Austin area. All grants are unrestricted which means they may be used for programs or for general operations of the grant winner. The members of Girls Giving Grants choose the recipient of the grant.

Georgia-Pacific Foundation

Established in 1958, the Georgia-Pacific Foundation sets aside resources to improve life in the communities where we operate. We’ve worked with thousands of outstanding community-based programs, service projects and disaster relief efforts, focusing our investment in four areas we believe make the most impact:

The Nolan Ryan Foundation works year-round to raise funds for its scholarship program. The program was recently elevated by establishing a scholarship endowment fund that awards scholarships of up to $40,000, renewable for up to four years. Currently, the Foundation partners with the Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving local students.

The Nolan Ryan Foundation also awards the Willie Wells Memorial Scholarship every spring. Hall of Famer Willie Wells played for the Austin Black Senators, a Texas Negro League baseball team. In 2021, the Round Rock Express partnered with the Nolan Ryan Foundation to establish a scholarship in Wells' memory at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin.

50/50 Raffle Community Grant

The Round Rock Express and Nolan Ryan Foundation have joined forces to host a 50/50 Raffle at every home game. At the end of the year, the Nolan Ryan Foundation donates to several local nonprofit organizations in Central Texas through the 50/50 Raffle Community Grant Program.
