For more than 80 years, the Moody Foundation has funded projects and programs that better communities in our great state of Texas. As a family, our stories have fueled our mission and our grantees continue to inspire us across the arts, education, environment, health, and social services.

On rare occasions, the Foundation may award two or three years’ support for a project, or make multi-year payments on awards. Generally, however, grants are awarded for one year at a time.

Love, Tito's

The Love, Tito’s evolution started in Austin, Texas.

Tito was new to the vodka business, still struggling to make ends meet while rewriting the Texas codebook to building the first legal distillery in the state of Texas. One day he got a phone call from a local nonprofit asking if he would donate a couple cases of vodka for a fundraising event. Tito agreed, and showed up with several cases and the thought that this would be a great opportunity for folks to taste his new vodka. “If you like it, tell 20 of your closest friends,” he said… and they did. They liked the vodka and they told their friends - not just about the vodka, but also about how Tito would donate it to support charity events, just like he’d done for them. The phone started to ring more often, and Tito’s fell into the “charity event” business.

As the company grew, Tito empowered each and every member of the team, regardless of their role, to support the causes they were passionate about in their local communities. As Tito’s Handmade Vodka continued to gain momentum across the country, involvement in philanthropy grew in tandem. The more people who joined the Tito’s family, the more hearts and hands were out in the world spreading love and goodness, with Tito’s behind them all the way.

Every time a member of the Tito’s Team reached out to extend a hand, to make a difference, to say “Thank you for inviting us to help the cause,” they signed off with “Love, Tito’s.” This salutation became a mantra, which turned into a movement. Love, Tito’s is now a force, a group of individuals giving back to causes, efforts and organizations that move them. Through Love, Tito’s, the team has supported thousands of causes – lending a hand to rebuild communities after devastation, spreading joy to those who need a little more, and protecting the environment we all share.

The goal of Love, Tito’s is simple: to turn spirits into love and goodness. Make the world a better place—in whatever way moves you; find your passion, and get involved. With the help of our nonprofit friends and family, Love, Tito’s can continue to give back in more impactful ways, and keep spreading the love more and more.

Background

The Penn National Gaming Foundation, a 501(c)3 private foundation, was launched in 2005 by Penn National Gaming, Inc. in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to provide assistance to the nearly 2,000 Penn National employees impacted by the storm. The Foundation awarded over $1.4 million in grants for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing, shelter and medical needs.

The Foundation also supported relief efforts across the Gulf Coast through donations to organizations such as Hope Haven Shelter in Bay St. Louis, the MS Law Enforcement and Firefighter Katrina Relief Fund, KaBOOM! and its efforts to rebuild playgrounds on the Coast, and the Gulf Coast-area Salvation Army. 

Today, the Penn National Gaming Foundation is proud to support numerous local non-profit organizations in the communities in which Penn National operates, focusing on projects that promote community development, education, human services, cultural affairs and diversity, health services, and programs that provide support and services to veterans, active members of the military and their families. 

Our Commitment

Penn National Gaming Foundation, Inc. grants shall be used to address the broad needs of the residents of the communities in which Penn National Gaming, Inc. (PNGI) operates or has a business interest, which currently includes the following states: Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia. 

Funding Criteria

Foundation grants shall generally fall in the following categories: 

Community Development. Projects and programs related to community infrastructure improvements, public safety, economic development, housing, historic preservations, citizen involvement, civic leadership training, and other general community activities. 

Education. Programs which support per-school, elementary and secondary education, post-secondary education and special education programs.

Human Services. Programs which address the needs of children and youth, senior citizens and disadvantages populations, especially in times of natural or man made disaster.

Cultural Affairs & Diversity. Programs and facilities designed to foster an understanding, appreciation and celebration of different cultures and encourage participation among individuals of different cultures and belief systems.

Health. Local health and medical-related programs.

AstraZeneca hosts an annual open call for applications to support eligible 501(c) nonprofit organizations across the US for local and regional community-based programs. In 2022, the ACT on Health Equity: Community Solutions Challenge will provide up to $1 million in funding. Organizations may apply for up to $25,000 for each eligible program.

AstraZeneca recognizes health starts in our homes, schools and communities. The ACT on Health Equity: Community Solutions Challenge supports community-based, nonprofit organizations that are advancing health equity among underserved US communities through innovative health, wellbeing, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs at the local and regional level.

Applications must meet the following general criteria:

Program Focus: Community-based programs to improve conditions that affect health and wellbeing (ex: housing, environmental and neighborhood safety, nutrition, access to care, and/or access to education and career readiness in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math).

Communities Served: Programs that directly benefit underserved populations and prioritize their social, cultural, and linguistic needs.

Program Footprint: Nonprofit organizations across the US are invited to apply for programs benefiting one or more local communities. While not a requirement, special consideration will be provided to programs that reach AstraZeneca footprint geographies (e.g., Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina, Texas and California).

Sundt Community Involvement

Sundt has always been a company that gives back—because we believe it’s the right thing to do.

In 1999, we formalized that longstanding tradition of volunteerism and giving by creating the Sundt Foundation, fully controlled by our employee-owners and dedicated to raising up the disadvantaged in our communities.

The Sundt Foundation

20 Years of Giving

For its 20th anniversary, the Sundt Foundation set a significant goal: to reach a new milestone in 20 years of giving back by reaching $10 million in grants given to support nonprofit organizations in our communities.

OVERVIEW

The Sundt Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation founded in 1999. Its purpose is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and adults through grants to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that serve them.

Most grants are made to organizations located in the vicinity of a Sundt regional office (Phoenix, Tucson, Northern California, Southern California, Texas, Utah, Charlotte and Portland). Funding for the Foundation comes primarily from contributions made by employees of Sundt Construction, Inc., and matched by the company. Employees and others making donations to the Foundation designate where they want their gift (and the matching funds) to be distributed. 

NOTE: Prior to submitting a proposal, the Animal Protection Program Director must be contacted by telephone or email to discuss the proposed project.

Founded in 1988 by Dallas philanthropist, Annie Lee Roberts, The Summerlee Foundation is a mission driven, proactive organization with a strong desire to address significant issues in animal protection and Texas history. Since inception, the Foundation has awarded 30 million dollars to grantees.

The Foundation makes grants for two specific purposes:

• To alleviate fear, pain and suffering of animals and to promote animal protection and the prevention of cruelty to animals.
• To research, promote and document all facets of Texas History.

Animal Protection Program

Since its establishment, The Summerlee Foundation has promoted a new ethic towards our fellow beings through its national and international grantmaking programs supporting rescue, research, rehabilitation, and advocacy. Our grants have assisted a wide variety of programs, including second chances for companion animals, protection of wild carnivores, sanctuary and refuge, and endangered species protection and advocacy. While many of these projects have been controversial, all have been critically important. Collectively, we have alleviated fear, pain and suffering in countless animals’ lives, advanced and expanded the rights of all non-human animals, defended the laws that protect them, and created new policies to address new grievances against them. We have rescued, re-homed, relocated, and rehabilitated these animals.

And while we can celebrate our many successes, we must also confront the emerging and expanding threats to our most vulnerable animal populations: climate change, persecution and exploitation on a global scale, wildlife extinction and disease, companion animal abandonment, and intentional cruelty and torture. The challenges are serious and many.

By working together, creatively and opportunistically, with vision and with wisdom, we will continue to protect and give sanctuary and refuge to the underserved, the voiceless, the persecuted, and the helpless.

Funding Priorities

Geographically:

The Americas with special emphasis on those communities which are the most underserved and the most challenged.

Programmatically:

• Cats only in the United States and Canada –
• The tragedy of cat overpopulation and homelessness in this country results in intense and immense suffering due to disease, starvation, and inhumane practices by some local communities and agencies. 
• Funding emphasis is on sterilization and vaccination primarily in rural or underserved communities.
• Dogs outside of United States, primarily in Latin America –
• Emphasis on sterilization, vaccination, and humane euthanasia.
• Wildlife –
• Primarily mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, and black bears, funding only those programs which protect through ethical-based research and advocacy/educational campaigns.
• Marine Life –
• Emphasis on addressing marine mammal issues, health and well-being and anti-captivity (dolphins and orcas).
• Sanctuary for Captive Animals –
• Captive wild animal sanctuaries should be verified or accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
• Wildlife Rehabilitation –
• Emphasis on hands-on animal care (emergency rescue, food, medications, housing improvements).
• Emergency funding –
• May be awarded through the Annie Lee Roberts Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) fund administered by the Humane Society of the United States

Mission

Dr. William Evans Dean III (Bill) attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Nevada. He served his country in Vietnam as part of the U.S. Air Force and later graduated with honors from dental school. In addition to all these accomplishments, he was a registered Texas longhorn rancher, recreational pilot and avid animal lover. His passion for helping others continues in perpetuity through the establishment of the William E. Dean III Charitable Foundation, which he created in 2009.
