From data-driven, home-grown regional strategies to technical assistance, Texas Health Community Impact collaborates with community leaders to offer creative grant opportunities to North Texas organizations with a mutual desire to transform health and well-being in innovative ways.

Texas Health Community Impact Grants (Request for Proposals)

Texas Health Community Impact requests proposals to fund local organizations collaborating on innovative solutions that address barriers to community health and wellbeing. Up to $5 million is available across nine counties for the 2027-2028 grant cycle.

These community health improvement grants are made possible by Texas Health Resources—a faith‑based, nonprofit health system that cares for more patients in North Texas than any other provider.

Key Requirements

Applications must fulfill four key requirements: 1. Propose an innovative approach. 2. Demonstrate a collaborative effort between two or more organizations. 3. Align with strategic priorities. 4. Promote sustainability. Read Grant Key Requirements.

Project Implementation

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to begin implementing activities within four months of the execution of the MOU. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Prior Applicants

Organizations that applied for a previous Texas Health Community Impact grant cycle and were not awarded are eligible to apply. 

Request for Proposals by Region

The Texas Health Community Impact Grant requests proposals by regions: 1) Collin Region; 2) Dallas and Kaufman Region; 3) Denton, Wise and Parker Region; 4) Southern Region; and 5) Tarrant Region.

Texas Health is investing a total of $5 million in grants across its five regions, which spans nine counties. Groups seeking to work collaboratively on innovative upstream approaches to address priorities identified in each region are encouraged to apply for this competitive funding opportunity.

Southern Region

Grantmaking Approach, Goals and Objectives

For the 2027-2028 grant cycle strategy, the Southern Region’s aim is to decrease caregiver stress by increasing community supports in Erath County 76401 and 76446 (Dublin, Huckabay, Lingleville, Morgan Mill and Stephenville); and Johnson County 76009, 76031, 76033, 76059 and 76093 (Alvarado, Cleburne, Keene and Rio Vista).

For this grant, Texas Health Community Impact Southern Region uses the John Hopkins Bayview definition of caregiver, which is “a person who tends to the needs or concerns of a person with shortor long-term limitations due to illness, injury or disability.”

To accomplish this, a two-phased approach will be taken in each county.

• Phase One: Award small grants to several collaboratives to ignite innovative, coordinated program development in alignment with the region’s aim. A collaboration quality assessor will be leveraged to determine the quality of the collaboratives. To strengthen program evaluation development, grant participants will consult with Texas Health Community Impact’s thirdparty evaluator.

• Phase Two: From the Phase One grants, a larger grant will be awarded to the strongest collaborative with the most innovative plan, so they can implement their program. 

This RFP seeks proposals for Phase One. Collaboratives are not expected to have a specific program in mind at the time of application. The purpose of the Phase One grant is to collaboratively create an innovative plan, which will be submitted as a Phase Two proposal. It is expected, however, that collaboratives include members who can articulate a shared vision for how they will work together through this process.

Announcing Our New Rural Grants Initiative

In February, Humanities Texas launched a new grant program for organizations based in Texas counties with a population of 60,000 residents or fewer. Our rural grants support educational, historical, and cultural organizations offering public humanities programs to rural communities throughout the state.

Rural Grants

Humanities Texas major and mini-grants have been serving rural Texas for over fifty years. With this new grant line, we aim to expand our service to rural communities, where access to philanthropic resources can be limited.

Our rural grants have a streamlined application process that does not require cost-share. Our grants team provides organizations with focused support throughout the entire process, from questions about program design and budgeting, to basic grants administration, to conducting a program evaluation and writing an effective final report.

A key goal of this new initiative is to increase the fundraising and administrative capacity of the organizations that receive support.

Texas Education Agency

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. TEA helps deliver education to more than 5 million students under the leadership of the commissioner of education. The TEA operational costs are supported by both state and federal funds.

The Texas Education Agency administers federal and state grant awards to its subgrantees to carry out a program. Such entities include primarily school systems (referred to as local educational agencies [LEAs] in statutes), including independent school districts and charter schools; education service centers (ESCs); and, to a lesser degree, institutions of higher education (IHEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and other statutorily allowable organizations.

Reading Academies Enrollment Canvas Seats

This project will support the implementation of Texas Reading Academies by awarding a grant for the maintenance of a learning management system, including content and design support for various reading academies options, continued support for seat provision, registration, deployment, and technical assistance of online academies participants, monthly data reporting, and ongoing support for the data portal.

The scholarships we award vary each year based on the unique criteria of each scholarship. In 2025, we awarded over $3 million in scholarships to over 500 students, including $1.3 million to 110 students in western NC through our Disaster Relief and Resilience Scholarship.

Alpha Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund

Depending on the scholarship, it may pay for tuition, room and board, books, fees and/or other related educational expenses. This will be outlined in your award notification. The minimum scholarship award amount is $1,000.
