Grant Request

• In general, the Trustees of the Foundation will only consider a grant application if it is submitted on The Cambridge Charitable Foundation’s Grant Application. 

• Please note that grant applications seeking funds for specific projects will generally be given higher consideration than grant applications seeking general operating funds.

• Should you receive funds from The Cambridge Charitable Foundation, you will be required to use the funds only for those purposes for which the grant was made. In addition, you will be required to file a final written report with the Cambridge Charitable Foundation of how the funds were used or disbursed.

The OSCT: Edward Ricci Award, offered by the Ocean State Charities Trust, aims to support 501(c)(3) organizations enhancing the quality of life for Rhode Islanders. Grantees must be incorporated in Rhode Island, operational for at least two years, and demonstrate social welfare initiatives in areas like housing and education. Applications are accepted semi-annually, with deadlines on February 1 and August 1 each year, promoting a structured approach to funding community-focused programs.

The Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust Grant supports education and research in ornamental horticulture, funding projects that enhance public gardens, promote ornamental plants, and support related educational initiatives. Grants typically range up to $20,000, with a maximum of $25,000, focusing on project support rather than general operating expenses. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) public charities and similar entities worldwide, while the Trust does not fund individuals or capital campaigns.

The Arts & Culture Grant, offered by the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, aims to enhance the quality of life through support for arts, music, history, and cultural projects. Open to eligible nonprofit organizations, the grant encourages innovative approaches and community collaboration. Proposals are evaluated based on their impact, organizational capacity, and the comprehensiveness of the plan. This initiative fosters a vibrant cultural landscape, ensuring lasting benefits for Charlevoix County residents.

The Economics program by the National Science Foundation supports research to enhance understanding of the U.S. economy and global systems. It prioritizes interdisciplinary studies and encourages diverse proposals, including those from junior faculty and underrepresented groups. Funding opportunities range from individual projects to doctoral dissertation improvement grants, emphasizing rigorous economic analysis and data collection. The program aims to strengthen links between economics and other disciplines, fostering innovative research in various economic subfields.

The Ashtabula Foundation offers grants of $5,001 and above to support non-profit organizations serving Ashtabula County. The foundation prioritizes funding in the Human Services category to assist those in need within the community. Eligible applicants must have a 501(C)(3) designation and utilize funds exclusively for the benefit of local citizens. The foundation will consider requests based on available funding and the potential impact on recipients.

STFM Innovative Program Award

The STFM Innovative Program Award honors excellence in the development of an original educational program or activity for family medicine residents, students, or faculty. The award recognizes a broad interpretation of innovative family medicine programs to include innovative residency programs, clerkships, services, curricula, or other activities that have had a significant, positive impact on family medicine education.

This initiative aims to strengthen California's cultural landscape by fostering a diverse arts workforce and infrastructure. Eligible organizations can utilize these funds for various operational costs, ensuring they can continue their vital work in the community without the limitation of project-specific funding.

STFM Medical Editing Fellowship

The STFM Medical Editing Fellowship provides one faculty member a yearlong experience with the editorial and publishing teams at Family Medicine. Through this part-time, virtual fellowship, early or mid-career faculty receive coaching and hands-on experience to improve their skills in writing, reviewing, and editing scientific papers. The fellowship begins in May. STFM’s Medical Editing Fellowship provides new faculty with hands-on experience at the Family Medicine journal.

The Community Health Matching Grant Program, led by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation, aims to support nonprofit organizations in Michigan. This initiative encourages the development of community-inspired and evidence-based programs to address local health needs, ultimately enhancing health outcomes for the community. Eligible organizations must meet specific criteria regarding their budget and patient demographics to qualify for matching funds, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to underserved populations.

The STFM New Faculty Scholars Programs helps early career family medicine faculty develop leadership and scholarship skills. Scholars receive 1 year of the New Faculty Scholars coaching, learning, and networking opportunities with senior leadership and other new family medicine faculty.

STFM Project Fund

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Project Fund encourages STFM Collaboratives and Special Project Teams to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate findings from educationally-related scholarly projects. The outcomes of projects supported through the STFM Project Fund should benefit members, the STFM, and the discipline of family medicine. The project should also provide students, residents and new faculty an opportunity to participate in a significant way in a scholarly project that exposes them to STFM.The STFM Project Fund is coordinated by the STFM Foundation Executive Committee and funded through the STFM Foundation. 

A project may be funded for 1 or 2 years at one of the two levels below:

• Full Funding: A few proposals of exceptional quality and potential impact may be funded up to $10000 total.
• Seed Money: To support projects up to $5000 total.

Proposals at either funding level must have matching in-kind contributions for personnel (eg, faculty and/or staff), equipment, and/or supplies.  Any unspent dollars from projects must be returned to the STFM Foundation.

STFM Research Paper of the Year Award

The STFM Research Paper of the Year Award recognizes a research paper published in a peer-reviewed journal the previous July 1 through June 30. The first author must be an STFM member. The STFM Research Committee bases the award selection on the quality of the research and its potential impact. The winning paper will be presented at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. The AAS Northeast Asia Council offers Korean Studies Grants to support research by North American scholars. The program aims to enhance the teaching of Korea in academic settings, encouraging integration into various disciplines. Grants cover travel expenses for research both within and outside North America, with awards ranging from $1,500 to $5,000. Eligibility includes a single application per grant period, and graduate students must submit advisor recommendations. This initiative fosters a deeper understanding of Korean studies.

The Lake Region Arts Council's Project Grant supports artistic initiatives in West Central Minnesota, offering up to $3,000 for projects in various disciplines such as art, dance, literature, and music. Applicants are required to match 20% of the grant amount, fostering community involvement and artistic expression. This grant aims to enhance the vibrancy of the local arts scene and encourage creativity among residents.

The PLTW Computer Science program, funded by Phillips 66, aims to enhance STEM education in middle and high schools. By offering a minimum of two PLTW Computer Science courses over two years, the initiative seeks to empower students with vital skills for future careers. With a total grant of $20,000, the program focuses on schools in various states, prioritizing those serving economically disadvantaged students to foster diversity and inclusion in the tech field.

The Five Wings Arts Council offers the Community Arts Access Project Grants to support Minnesota non-profit organizations, schools, and governmental units in enhancing arts programming. Grants can fund new cultural activities or enrich existing ones, with a maximum award of $5,000. Applications are reviewed quarterly, and projects must occur within the five counties served by the Council. This initiative aims to boost local arts and provide educational opportunities, fostering community engagement through the arts.

The PLTW Computer Science - Program Expansion grant from Phillips 66 aims to enhance access to quality education in STEM fields for middle and high school students. This initiative supports schools in expanding their existing PLTW Computer Science programs, particularly in high-need areas starting in the 2026-2027 academic year. Grants of $10,000 are available, prioritizing institutions with significant economic need among students, ensuring future generations are equipped for success in technology and engineering careers.

The Healthy Lives: Animal Welfare Grant Program, funded by The New York Community Trust, aims to enhance the humane treatment and medical care of animals in metropolitan New York. This initiative supports nonprofits that align with its grantmaking priorities, fostering projects that focus on animal welfare. By promoting efficient, equitable services, the program contributes to the overall health of animals and the community, ensuring a better quality of life for all living beings in the region.

Renewable Energy Fund

The Rhode Island Commerce Renewable Energy Fund (REF) supports the growth of renewable energy across Rhode Island, helping businesses and communities access cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions.

REF provides renewable energy grants for projects that generate cleaner electricity while supporting job growth in the green technology and energy sectors. Funded through the system benefit charge on electric bills and alternative compliance payments from electricity providers, REF invests in Small Scale solar, Commercial Scale, and Community Renewable energy projects throughout Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island Commerce Corporation (RI Commerce) and the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) seeks to fund solar PV on Brownfield locations. All projects must be in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for the Renewable Energy Fund Development Program.

The H. G. Barsumian, M.D. Memorial Fund Grant supports organizations engaged in medical research, primarily benefiting the Lancaster, Pennsylvania community. Established in 1998, this fund reflects the commitment of Jane Barsumian and Mary Lyons to enhance medical advancements. Grants average $25,000, with around five grants awarded annually. Eligibility requires organizations to be 501(c)(3) exempt. Although there are no geographic limitations, preference is given to local entities to foster community development.

The South-Central Section of the Geological Society of America provides competitive research grants for undergraduate students from institutions in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and parts of Mexico. Eligible students must be members of the Geological Society of America and are expected to manage funds responsibly, submitting a report after their research. This initiative supports the development of future geoscientists by fostering research opportunities in the region.

The Women Chemists Committee + Eli Lilly Travel Award supports female chemists at undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels, enabling them to attend meetings and present their research. This initiative aims to enhance women's participation in the chemical sciences. Awards are based on scientific merit and financial need, covering registration, travel, and accommodations for U.S.-based meetings. Recipients also benefit from networking opportunities, including poster sessions and luncheons, fostering connections with ACS governance and peers.

The Friedrich Katz Prize in Latin American and Caribbean History, awarded by the American Historical Association, honors the best book published in English on Latin America, including the Caribbean, with a prize amount of $1,000. Eligibility includes books bearing a copyright of 2024, and nominations can be submitted by authors or publishers. Winners will be announced on the AHA website in October 2025 and recognized at the January 2026 AHA annual meeting in Chicago.

The Five Wings Art Council offers General Operating Support Grants to Minnesota non-profit arts organizations that have held their 501(c)(3) status for at least three years. These grants provide unrestricted funds for administrative and capital expenditures, supporting artistic quality and community access. Organizations in Cass, Crow Wing, Todd, Morrison, and Wadena counties can apply, fostering local arts and enhancing community engagement through diverse artistic initiatives.
