The foundation emphasizes collaboration with community organizations to address systemic inequities and improve health outcomes for older adults. OAHSTRIDES Fund

The Greater Hartford Gives Foundation is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for grants through the OAHSTRIDES Fund. OAHSTRIDES is the philanthropic arm of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, PC. They work with under-resourced populations in the Greater Hartford Community to provide the support needed to build essential life skills and live healthier lifestyles. Their Mission is to improve physical, emotional, and mental health with an emphasis on movement and mobility.

For the 2026 grant cycle, OAHSTRIDES is focused on supporting veterans in the Greater Hartford community through adaptive physical activity, mental wellness initiatives, and opportunities for meaningful community connection and reintegration. We recognize that many veterans carry visible and invisible impacts of service, including physical injuries, chronic pain, mobility challenges, post-service transition difficulties, and social isolation.

Through this funding opportunity, OAHSTRIDES seeks to partner with organizations that honor veterans’ experiences and are committed to empowering them through movement-based and wellness-centered programs. We aim to support initiatives that foster resilience, restore confidence and connection, and promote lifelong health and well-being for those who have served.

The Southbury Community Trust Fund Grant aims to support programs benefiting Southbury residents through collaboration and partnerships. The Georgia-Pacific Foundation Grant supports organizations in the Metro Atlanta area, focusing on education, entrepreneurship, community enrichment, and environmental sustainability. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public schools, and local government entities located within 30 miles of GP manufacturing sites.

The Lawrence Foundation is a private family foundation established in 2000, dedicated to granting funds for environmental and human services causes. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and public schools, with grants typically ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. The foundation supports unrestricted grants for various projects, including disaster relief and environmental programs, but does not fund individuals or for-profit entities. Applications are evaluated based on alignment with the foundation's priorities.

The Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation, established in 1973, focuses on educational support for underserved populations in New England. Priority is given to organizations with active volunteer engagement from Ameriprise advisors and employees, creating a meaningful impact on financial independence and community resilience.

The Dr. Scholl Foundation offers grants annually to IRS 501(c)(3) organizations, primarily focusing on U.S. applicants. The foundation supports projects in education, social services, healthcare, civic and cultural initiatives, and environmental efforts. While the grant cycle runs from October 1 to March 1, it encourages innovative solutions to global challenges. Only one application per organization is accepted each year, and funding is limited to one year. Unqualified organizations, including political entities, are ineligible.

The Connecticut Community Foundation offers the Older Adults: Pathways Grants & Mini-Grants to support programs enhancing the quality of life for older adults. Established in 2009, the fund focuses on healthy aging, community engagement, and educational opportunities. Grants are available to nonprofits and municipalities within a 21-town service area, promoting intergenerational projects and civic participation. The initiative emphasizes collaboration and innovative solutions to meet the needs of the aging population.

Cox Charities Northeast offers community grants ranging from $5,000 to $12,000 annually to support nonprofit organizations focused on STEAM education. Since 2001, Cox has invested nearly $8 million in youth programming across Connecticut, Ohio, and Rhode Island. The grants prioritize innovative projects in science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and sustainability initiatives, encouraging applications from eligible 501(c)(3) organizations in the Cox East serviceable footprint.

The Cigna Group Foundation is launching the Improving Youth Mental Health Grant, committing $9 million over three years to enhance mental health support for youth aged five to 18. This initiative targets post-pandemic challenges, offering resources to parents, caregivers, and youth service professionals. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding between $100,000 and $150,000 to develop programs that promote social-emotional skills, enhance caregiver support, and improve access to mental health interventions in underserved communities.

The Saunders Health Fund for Naugatuck, managed by the Connecticut Community Foundation, provides grants to support mental and physical health initiatives for residents in Naugatuck. Emphasizing community well-being, the fund backs projects that improve access to quality healthcare, foster collaboration among local resources, and promote awareness of preventive health practices. Priority is given to organizations that empower individuals and address health disparities across the Foundation's 21-town service area.

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven offers grants up to $15,000 through the Community Fund for Women & Girls. This initiative aims to enhance economic security for women by supporting nonprofits focused on workforce training, entrepreneurship, housing stability, and innovative childcare solutions. Eligible organizations must serve the Greater New Haven area and comply with tax-exempt status requirements. Priority is given to programs that provide wraparound services to ensure comprehensive support for women in need.

Categories include Caring for People, Caring through Food, Community, and Caring for our Planet, with a focus on educational initiatives, food security, housing services, and environmental stewardship, honoring the legacy of founder S. Truett Cathy.

In 2026, the Fund for the Northwest Corner is launching its first competitive grant cycle, reflecting its commitment to addressing emerging community needs. 

As reductions in state and federal funding intersect with rising demand for essential services, local organizations are adapting quickly. This grant cycle is designed to provide timely support while maintaining close dialogue with the nonprofits serving our towns, ensuring that charitable resources remain aligned with the region’s most pressing priorities.

By combining local insight with Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s trusted stewardship and grantmaking infrastructure, Fund for the Northwest Corner deploys resources strategically across critical areas of need.

Together, we aim to strengthen the local safety net and support the well-being of our community members now and into the future.

Types of Support

Requests will be considered for new or existing projects and programs. 

Support may include program expenses, expanded service delivery, staffing, supplies, or other critical costs directly tied to maintaining or strengthening essential services.

Requests may support existing programs, expanded services, or essential operational costs necessary to stabilize and sustain services during this period of increased strain.

Grants are intended to meet the most urgent needs and to be deployed within nine months of the notification deadline. Applicants should demonstrate the capacity to expend funds within this timeframe.
